In battle, it is recommended to try and cast [[Protect (Ability)|Protect]] as soon as possible to reduce the amount of damage it can do. It is not too terribly difficult to defeat normally, but in Oversoul, it becomes a much bigger threat as it will take away all of the party's max HP with its Chicken Wing Lv3 unless they have at least more than 10,000 HP. It is recommended at this time to have everyone's HP over 10,000 and continue to hammer away at the fiend with the best hard hitting attacks available. They will always appear solo.

Zu is an enemy from Final Fantasy X-2. It is one of Spira's largest flying fiends, having been rumored to carry shoopufs off in its talons. With its tremendous wings Zu sends shock waves crashing into their enemies.

Zu is not terribly difficult to defeat normally, but it is more powerful in Oversoul due to its strong Chicken Wing Lv. 3. attack, which removes 75% of the party's HP in the original version and instantly defeats the player party in the HD Remaster version. Zu always appears alone.

Strategy

In the HD Remaster, it is best for the party to defeat an Oversouled immediately and equip Deathproof abilities and boost their stats considerably. In all versions, it is recommended to cast Protect and Shell to reduce the damage it can do.

Etymology

Zu means "fire" in the Sumerian language. Anzû, before misread as Zû, is a lesser divinity or monster in several Mesopotamian religions. He was conceived by the pure waters of the Apsu and the wide Earth, or as son of Siris. Anzû was seen as a massive bird who can breathe fire and water, although Anzû is alternately seen as a lion-headed eagle (like a reverse griffin).
