Zhai'a Nelhah (First son of Zhai Nelhah) also known as Zhai'a the White Mind is a non-player character from Final Fantasy XIV: Heavensward. A Hearer of Stillglade Fane, he appears in the Black Mage job quests in search of a fugitive conjurer dabbling in forbidden arts.

History[]

Final Fantasy XIV: Heavensward[]

He is first encountered in Eastern Thanalan, where he is searching for Waldeve, a man who started a cult of black mages called "the Defiant." He is vehemently opposed to the dark arts, and sternly voices his disapproval towards the Warrior of Light and Lalai. This sentiment intensifies as several Defiant mages are found dead after altercations with the adventurer.

However, when he examines the bodies of the mages that attacked Dozol Meloc, he noticed they were burned from the inside out. The Ixal speculated that without a soul crystal to regulate their magic, they self-immolated when they attempted to use advanced spells. He later gets caught in an ambush at the Coerthas Western Highlands after hastily attempting to confront them, forcing the Warrior of Light to rescue him.

Learning from his mistakes, he brings Kazagg Chah, Dozol Meloc, and 269th Order Mendicant Da Za to help him apprehend Waldeve at his hideout in the Burning Wall. After dispatching the out-of-control voidsent Barghest, Zhai'a heals Waldeve, intent on taking him back to Gridania to answer for his crimes. He later concedes to Lalai that black magic itself isn't inherently evil, so long as it is not being used for malicious purposes.
