Template:FFIV Enemies Zeromus is the final boss in Final Fantasy IV. There are three stages; the first being a cutscene battle.

Story

After Fusoya and Golbez defeated Zemus, Zeromus emerges from his corpse, proclaiming itself as his hatred. FuSoYa and Golbez's attacks had no effect on Zeromus. When Golbez tried to use the Crystal, the creature proclaimed that evil hearts cannot wield the crystal, and attacks them both with Meteor.

Later on, everyone left at Mysidia will pray for Cecil. Cecil and his team members will be revived. Golbez then hands over the Crystal and beckons Cecil to use it. Cecil does so, and Zeromus's invincibility will disappear, revealing its true form.

Final Battle

Template:FFIV Enemies Zeromus is the final boss in Final Fantasy IV. It is the spirit and hatred of Zemus incarnate. Zeromus has considerable prowess in magic; his signature moves include Big Bang, a powerful magic attack, and Black Hole, which has the power to nullify magical benefits, as well as a variety of other offensive magic. The party faces him in the Moon.

Strategy

It is suggested to be around level 60 for this fight. Zeromus appears in a noncorporeal form at the start of the fight, and will not attack and cannot be damaged. This is a good time to cast buffs on the party. Once Cecil uses the Crystal, given by Golbez, on Zeromus, he becomes corporeal and the true battle begins. It is highly recommended to use Edge's Steal ability to steal the Dark Matter from Zeromus before using the Crystal.

Zeromus will start off the fight with Big Bang. This deadly attack tends to deal around 1900-2100 damage to each party member. After he does it, have Rosa use Curaja and revive any KO'd party members. If you have any Dark Matter, have Edge Throw it at him now, as it will temporarily reduce the damage of his attacks. Have Cecil attack while Kain Jumps. Rydia can use her Black Magic spells or Summon, but this will prompt Zeromus to counterattack with Flare.

Watch when Zeromus begins to shake, as it means he is about to perform Big Bang again. Have Rosa keep steady with the heals and unleash all you have against this boss. Any spare, powerful weapons you have in your inventory should be thrown by Edge, as you won't have a need for them once all is said and done. Eventually, he should go down.

Battle script

  • Phase 1 (start of battle): Nothing, nothing, Big Bang, switch to phase 2.
  • Phase 2 (regular script): Nothing, nothing, Big Bang, Black Hole, nothing, nothing, Big Bang, Bio, Black Hole, nothing, nothing, Big Bang, Black Hole (repeat until either phases 3 or 4 start).
  • Phase 3 (see below): Nothing, nothing, Big Bang, Black Hole, Flare, nothing, nothing, nothing, Big Bang (repeat until phase 4 starts).
  • Phase 4 (uses when below 12,000 HP): Random action, Meteor (repeat until dead).

If Zeromus has a turn while he is between 16,000-12,000 HP, he'll refill his health to the max and switch to phase 3 d(only happens once per battle). He will not do this if you knock his health below 12,000 HP before he can heal himself (in which case, he switches to phase 4).

Battle music

Zeromus (originally Saigo no tatakae, "The Final Battle") is the theme that plays during the final battle of Final Fantasy IV. It was rearranged and included in the Black Mages' second studio album The Black Mages II: The Skies Above.
