Yuji Toriyama is a Japanese musician, notably as a guitarist and composer. Born in 1958, he began self-producing his first album in 1981 while studying in Keio University. He began developing theme songs for television shows starting with the Tokyo Broadcasting System's World Heritage show, and moved on to writing official soundtracks for games and movies such as the 1994 Street Fighter II: the Animated Movie.

He is known in the Final Fantasy community as one of the composers for Symphonic Poem "Hope", a promotional album for Final Fantasy XII alongside Taro Hakase. He is responsible for all five tracks arrangements, and also performed the guitar for these pieces.
