Yuffie Kisaragi is a playable character in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. Wielding a shuriken as her weapon, she can be used in both ranged and melee combat. Yuffie excels in agility and versatility in offense. Her skillset allows her to evade opponents, and deal with opponents using both physical and magic damage, and to change her elemental affinity on a whim.

Yuffie joins the party in chapter 7, "Those Left Behind", and becomes a mainstay thereafter. She is mandatory at several points in the story, and leads the party briefly during the chapter in which she joins the party. Yuffie is one of five date options for the Gold Saucer in both chapter 8, "All That Glitters", and chapter 12, "A Golden Key".

If Yuffie is transformed into a toad, she appears as a green toad with a headband, her protective gauntlet, and a miniature 4-point shuriken on her back.

Yuffie is mostly unchanged from her Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade gameplay, with new moves added but none removed. Her skillset is based partly on her original Final Fantasy VII appearance.

Yuffie can easily do both physical (top) and magic (bottom) damage.

Yuffie can perform both close-range and long-ranged attacks, and has balanced attributes. While her normal attacks are melee, Throw causes her to throw her shuriken for continuous physical damage, and use Elemental Ninjutsu for ranged magic damage from basic attacks. New to Rebirth is an added ranged attack she can perform by attacking immediately after dodging. Though Yuffie has low durability, much like Tifa, her mobility and evasiveness make up for this.

Yuffie's unique ability, Throw, is useful not only for varying her attacks but for movement. When her weapon is thrown, her unique ability becomes Retrieve, allowing her to recall the weapon early by leaping toward it. Doing so allows her to quickly close the gap on enemies, or move between them.

Yuffie's adaptability mean that, like Cloud, she can be geared either toward physical or magic damage, depending on needs, or geared toward both. Because of her low durability and her ability set, she will likely serve in a damage-per-second role as opposed to a supporting role.

Attributes[]

Yuffie's attributes are balanced, but do not excel in any area (aside from sharing her Speed Speed with Tifa). Her Strength Strength and Magic Magic are exactly even, and medium among party members. She also has the fourth-highest MP pool.

With the second-lowest HP pool, and low Vitality Vitality and Spirit Spirit, Yuffie's durability is low. This makes it important to either shore this up with equipment, to pair her in parties with members who cover her with defensive roles, or to make good use of her evasive abilities.

Abilities[]

From the start, Yuffie has two weapon abilities available: Art of War and Brumal Form. Like all the other party members, Yuffie can acquire more abilities from new weapons gained over the course of the game.

  • Art of War has Yuffie attack with several quick slashes, and will also boost the damage of Yuffie's next attack, indicated by dark effect around Yuffie. If Art of War is used again, it becomes Supreme Art of War, which deals more damage with more slashes. This will likely be a frequently used ability since it comes out quick, and has some good tracking. Usable while airborne.
  • Brumal Form is a defensive ability that causes Yuffie to quickly dodge in any direction inputted. It costs about half an ATB bar, and will refund nearly a full bar when dodging an attack. Since this move comes out quickly and can be useful when used properly, this move is ideal as a shortcut command. Usable while airborne.
  • Elemental Ninjutsu is core to Yuffie's playstyle; it allows the player to switch the elemental affinity of Yuffie's ninjutsu to fire, ice, lightning, or wind, as indicated by the symbol next to her health. This ability should be used often to capitalize on the damage and pressure potential that exploiting weaknesses provide.
  • Blindside has Yuffie quickly leap into the air and strike with her weapon, even while bound or in the middle of a damage animation. It comes out quickly and deals fair damage, so it can be used in the middle of many combos. Usable while airborne.
  • Windstorm has two versions: with her weapon held, Yuffie's weapon will circle her and bring small to medium-sized enemies toward her as she stays in place, dealing damage to enemies all around her; when her weapon is thrown, Windstorm will release an AOE blast on the foe Yuffie's weapon has been thrown to, bringing hit targets toward her. While both versions brings enemies to her, the latter deals more damage and is faster.
  • Doppelganger has Yuffie create a life-sized marionette duplicate of herself, temporarily copying her attacks and used commands with a slight delay. This effect is indicated by a glowing leaf symbol on Yuffie's health bar. While the clone does not deal Yuffie's exact damage (only about 15% of it), using this ability greatly contributes to Yuffie's DPS potential, and helps shave down health bars. Usable while airborne.
  • Shooting Star makes Yuffie throw her weapon across the field, which will automatically target foes on its own for a certain amount of time or until retrieved. Since Yuffie can still use her ranged moveset while this move is active, Shooting Star can be ideal for a magic-build Yuffie or to marginally increase damage while Yuffie uses Ninjutsu. Usable while airborne.
  • Banishment has Yuffie deal magic damage with a ranged blast, and its element can be modified with Elemental Ninjutsu. It costs one ATB but has a unique gauge that fills by using Yuffie's other commands. It goes up to Level III, being Level I at first, Level II with three commands, and Level III at six. Since Yuffie has many fast moves that will likely be used several times in battle—like Elemental Ninjutsu, Art of War, and Blindside—the player can expect to see this ability reach at least Level II or III often. Usable while airborne.
  • Purification is Yuffie's penultimate ability, where she drains HP and MP from foes with a ranged magic attack, receiving about 50% of the damage back in HP and around .5% in MP. This ability shares its level mechanic and gauge with Banishment. Considering Yuffie's low defensive stats and its shared gauge, the player may have to choose between healing a near-death Yuffie or using her evasive skills to maximize damage in tough battles. Usable while airborne.
  • Storm's Fury is Yuffie's ultimate ability, available from her Folio at Party Level 9. Yuffie will strike several times before dealing a heavy strike. It costs 3 ATB segments, acquired through using United Refocus or equipping the Corsair's Compass accessory. Considering how frequently Yuffie gains and uses ATB, the accessory is a better fit for her, allowing her to use other synergy abilities instead.
