FFD Yggdrasil

Yggdrasil.

Yggdrasil is a tree in Final Fantasy Dimensions. It is made up of several levels containing a variety of monsters and treasures. It has a secret entrance located to the north of Alfheim, inside that of a cave.

Story

Template:Spoilers Upon realizing where the cave had lead, the party decides to ascend the world tree, encountering several monsters blocking their path. Annihilating their enemies while continuing to climb the monster-infested tree, the party meets up with a young boy they discover lurking in the shadows. He introduces himself as Prince Adrian and lets the party know he won't be a hindrance to their activities as long as they promise to investigate what exactly has happened to the King of Alfheim. Following their meeting with Prince Adrian, Gramps has another headache.

Upon arrival at the top level of the world tree, the party hides behind a column to avoid Elven guards. Nacht, Diana and Alba deduce that they must be near the king as per the reason behind the added security. Meanwhile, upon listening to talk about the king, Gramps grows quiet and pale. Glaive notices the old man's behavior and urges him to go back to Verde for his own safety. Gramps has another headache and suddenly regains his memories about Yggdrasil. The party is bewildered by this, wondering if his memory has come back but they are shortly interrupted by Prince Adrian calling out to the guards about the humans. Alba, shocked by the Prince's unseemly betrayal, cites him as a brat, with the party as a whole, wondering what the Prince intends for them. Instead, the Prince leads the guards out of their positions, beckoning the party to follow him as soon as the guards have left the room, leading Glaive to comment on his gumption. The party realizes the initiative given to them by the Prince and so they traverse onwards towards the area above Yggdrasil.Arriving above Yggdrasil, the party finds themselves in a room with the Elf King, Cilque and

Prince Adrian. As they confront the Elf King, the Elf King reveals his bewilderment at the appearance of Gramps, with Alba commenting on the fact that they may be long-lost brothers. The Elf King reveals that he thought Gramps was dead, with Gramps mentioning how he has lost everything, his memories, his name and his sight, while still being able to recognize the familiar voices he hears. Suddenly, a flash of light engulfs the room as the Crystal within Nacht's possession begins to sparkle. The Elf King steps back while still engulfed in the Crystal's light and begins morphing into an old man draped in a yellow robe. As soon as the Crystal ends its sparkle, Cilque and Prince Adrian step back in horror as the Elf King turns out to be an imposter, with Nacht commenting on whether the imposter is a servant of the Empire. The old man scoffs at the notion, introducing himself asAsmodai of the Earth and reveals that Gramps had traded his eyesight and memories in exchange for the survival of his wife and child. After this revelation, the party realizes that Gramps is none other than the actual Elf King, King Freyr of Alfheim. Cilque and Prince Adrian are bewildered by this reveal, with the Prince calling out to Gramps as his father while Gramps rebuffs him with his lack of memories. Asmodai then comments on the strange behavior of the Crystal atop the world tree, citing the fulfillment of a prophecy as its trigger. Diana questions their involvement in the situation, asking whether or not their circumstances were accidental, with Asmodai commenting on how their meeting is a fated thing and that they merely delivered the Crystals to him. The Warriors of Darkness begin battle with Asmodai while Gramps suffers more headaches.

Asmodai summons a shield of miasma in battle, preventing the party from damaging him while he ferociously attacks them with crippling status effects, which effectively decimate the party in battle with a final upheaval. Asmodai, realizing victory is within his grasp, prepares a final spell to eliminate the party once and for all until Prince Adrian interrupts him by pushing him aside, causing Prince Adrian to receive the brunt of Asmodai's deadly attack. As Prince Adrian falls to the ground, Freyr stands up from his spot, aghast by what has happened while Cilque tends to the heavily wounded Prince. Following this, Asmodai proposes a blight upon the Elven race, cursing them to oblivion and beginning his incantation. Freyr stands in the way of Asmodai's attack and falls to the ground after protecting Cilque and an unconscious Prince Adrian. The Prince comes to and beckons to his father with no response, as the party also regains consciousness and calls out to Gramps. Asmodai comments snidely on the futility of their anger and begins chanting once more.

Suddenly, Freyr regains consciousness from the deadly attack and engages Asmodai in battle. Asmodai uses his miasma to protect him once more while Freyr attacks him severely, to no avail while Asmodai continues to mock Freyr. Asmodai threatens to choke Freyr with the severity of his miasma, with Gramps retorting that he would gladly give his life in order to prevent the suffering and fall of Alfheim via Asmodai's continued atrocities. Freyr utilizes doubleshot which manages to break through Asmodai's miasma, much to Asmodai's shock at the impossible. Following this breakthrough, Freyr reveals that he's gotten his memories back and that he's going to use the last of his strength to obliterate Asmodai. Freyr unleashes an attack called "Decisive Shot" which deals a grandiose amount of damage to Asmodai, while also causing a recoil of epic proportions, thus severely damaging both Asmodai and Freyr. The attack causes Asmodai's miasma to vanish, leaving him vulnerable, with Freyr commenting on his supposed prophecy ending with the fact that the future isn't set in stone before subsequently falling unconscious. The party, realizing their new initiative, engages Asmodai in battle once more.

Following a lengthy, hard-fought battle, Asmodai swears that the prophecy will be fulfilled and vanishes in a flash of red light. Cilque and Adrian call out to Freyr as the party begins to gather around him. Freyr wonders why his eyes are soaked with tears, while Cilque, Prince Adrian and the party reassure his survival. Freyr turns once more to the odd sensation, wondering about its occurrence until his final breath. Suddenly, a shimmer of light starts to gather around one of the World Tree's seeds, with the seed revealing itself to be a crystal. The crystal dissipates into a group of shimmering lights, bathing the party in its glow and granting them the power of the Ranger. The party then looks on towards the horizon wondering about their next move.

Elsewhere, a young man plays his harp on a pier. In the midst of his activity, he is interrupted by what seems to be a young woman swimming in the ocean. She dives into the water, leaving him captivated by her beauty and entranced by her mystery, bringing this chapter to a close.
