Wraith (レイス, Reisu?), also known as Image, is a recurring enemy in the series. Much like most Undead enemies in the games they appear in, Wraiths are weak to Fire and Holy-elemental attacks.

Wraith is an enemy fought at Western Keep and Cavern of Earth. Wraiths are a stronger version of the Shadow and will often appear in groups. They attack with just regular attacks, though their attacks may inflict Paralysis. Upon defeat, a Wraith may drop a Crosier. Wraiths are weak to Fire and Dia attacks, and resist Ice-elemental attacks.

Wraith is an enemy fought at many locations throughout the game, starting at Kashuan Keep. Wraiths are a stronger version of the Shadow, and attack with a weak physical attack that drains HP from the victim to heal the Wraith. Wraiths are weak to Fire-elemental attacks, resists Ice, Poison, Body, Mind, and Matter-elemental attacks, and absorbs Death-elemental attacks.
Final Fantasy IX

Wraith appears as an enemy fought at Mount Gulug in two separate versions, the Red flame and Blue flame variants, and always together. Wraith (Blue) attacks with Devil's Candle, Doom, and Blizzaga, while Wraith (Red) attacks with Devil's Candle, Doom, and Firaga. When eaten, Wraith (Blue) teaches Frost, while Wraith (Red) teaches Mustard Bomb.

Wraith is an enemy fought at Omega Ruins and the final dungeon, Inside Sin. Wraith is the strongest of the two Revenant-type enemies in the game, changing its elemental weakness and resistance each time it is fought in battle. Wraith opens the battle with Doom, and are capable of casting Death alongside Blizzaga, Firaga, Waterga, and Thundaga. Kimahri can learn Doom as a Ronso Rage by using Lancet on a Wraith. Upon defeat, a Wraith may drop an armor with the No Encounters ability attached to it.

Wraith is a Mark fought at Garamsythe Waterway in Overflower Cloaca. Wraith starts the battle with Doom on each party member, then will resort to physical attacks, Sleep Touch, Poison Touch, and Blind, and later on casting Dark and Blizzard. While it can be a bit challenging at first, it is not immune to Silence.

Template:Sideicon Wraiths are powerful and rare type of ashkin, resembling floating featureless ghosts covered in an ethereal cloak. They are notable for having debilitating scream attacks with a wide-range AOE (unless interruoted), and can cast powerful magics such as Flood or Shadow Flare. The Ascians have been known to take on a wraith-like form called Ascian Prime.
