A staff imbued with magic that allows its owner to cast fire. There are many beasts who instinctually fear flames, regardless of their elemental affinity. Thus, it is essential for a mage to be able to cast fire in battle. However, the results this weapon yields fluctuate greatly depending on its user, making the wizard's staff only as reliable as rudimentary magic.
Final Fantasy Brave Exvius description
The Wizard's Staff (魔道士の杖, Madōshi no Tsue?), also known as the Mage Staff, High Mage Staff, and Mage's Staff, is a recurring weapon in the Final Fantasy series.
This weapon's Japanese name is pronounced the same as the High Mage's Staff. 魔道士 (madōshi?) is the normal Japanese name given to mages in Final Fantasy, however that is derived from an actual Japanese word meaning magic user, 魔導師 (madōshi?), using different kanji that are still read the same.
Given that this uses the same word for Mages, a more appropriate localization for this weapon would be "Mage('s) Staff".

This staff was created under a single guiding principle--by wizards, for wizards.
Description
High Mage Staff (FFIX) grants +2 to Attack. It can be equipped by White Mage, Devout, Sage, Rydia, Krile, Eiko, and Yuna.
In this case, "High Mage Staff" is a mistranslation; if it were actually translated to match Final Fantasy IX, the staff's name would be "Mage Staff".

Tolkien, whose Wizards of Middle-earth are a group of beings outwardly resembling Men but possessing much greater physical and mental power. Each Wizard has robes of a characteristic color, Gandalf the Grey being a quintessential example.
