The White M-phone (also known as the White M-Phone[1]) is a weapon for Cait Sith in Final Fantasy VII. It has modest stats, but more notably provides all three Materia slots with double AP growth.

As with other Cait Sith weapons, the White M-phone itself does not strike an enemy, but commands his Mog, meaning Cait Sith's damage is still Hit rather than Shout. However, its Attack stat still counts towards damage dealt.

Obtained[]

The White M-phone is found in Gongaga in the northern-most house. It can later be purchased at Junon for 2,200 gil.

Mecahnics[]

As the White M-phone has a base Attack stat bonus of 35, the base damage for physical attacks when the White M-phone equipped is in the following formula:

where "Level" is Cait Sith's current level and "Strength" is his Strength stat. The White M-phone also has an Attack% (Accuracy) of 106%, and grants a +14 bonus to Cait Sith's Magic stat.

The White M-phone is outclassed by all of Cait Sith's weapons overall in terms of stats. It is used primarily for its double AP growth, where all Materia equipped on its slots grow at double the rate they would normally. It can therefore be used if bringing Cait Sith along for level grinding.

The White M-phone's three unlinked slots should be given to Materia that can level up. None of them can benefit from Support Materia, which is detrimental for Cait Sith because his Magic stat makes him very strong spellcaster, and the inability to pair any slots with All on his weapon can hurt him. As such, it is important to give him armor for a linked Materia slot, or use Enemy Skill Materia (on an armor slot, since Enemy Skill cannot level up) to clear enemies faster.

White M-phone is outclassed by Black M-phone, which has greater stats and four Materia slots with double AP growth. If bringing Cait Sith along for level grinding, it is ideal to also equip Platinum Bangle or Rune Armlet to provide double AP to two and four armor Materia slots respectively. Around the time it is acquired, Cait Sith is equally as competent as any character with a double AP growth weapon.
