The White Dragon is the first of four elemental dragon-type bosses that can be found guarding various chests in some of the later dungeons of Final Fantasy II. This Ice-type dragon is found in the Mysidian Tower hiding in a treasure chest that contains the Black Robe armor.
Later it may appear again as a random encounter in the lower levels of the Jade Passage or in the "Utopia" floor of the Arcane Labyrinth.
Stats[]
Battle[]
The White Dragon ultimately acts like a more vicious Ice Gigas, with a few hundred more HP and a higher Attack stat. He attacks physically and pounds the party with Icestorm XVI. Also, like the Ice Gigas, the beast is weak to Fire.
Strategy[]
The long trek up the Tower of Mysidia may leave the party in an unfavorable state, so it may be a blessing that this is only an optional boss fight. Players are best attempting to challenge the White Dragon if the party came out of the Thunder Gigas with plenty of HP and MP intact. Equipping the Fire-based weapons found on the first couple floors of the tower exploits White Dragon's elemental weakness.

Etymology[]
dragon is a legendary creature, typically with serpentine or reptilian traits, which is featured in the myths of many cultures.
AChromatic dragon is a classification of dragon in the role-playing game Dungeons & Dragons who are typically of evil alignment, in contrast to the metallic dragons, and their queen is Tiamat. White, black, green, blue and red dragons are the classic chromatic dragons. Final Fantasy has derived a lot of influence from D&D, especially the early series. White dragons are the weakest and the most feral of the classic chromatic dragons. They love to swim in cold water, lair in ice caves, and their icy breath can freeze a foe solid.
