Whirlpool (渦潮, Uzushio?, lit. Whirling Tides), also called Waterspout, Whirlwater, Leeching Current, and Whirl, is a recurring ability in the series. It is often an enemy ability, but also an ability the party may use by the Geomancer job. It often deals Water-elemental damage.
Appearances
Final Fantasy III
In the NES, Waterspout is an ability used by the Geomancer job from the Terrain command when fighting on the Sea terrain. It deals Water-elemental damage to all enemies.
In the 3D version, Whirlpool deals Ice and Water-elemental damage to all enemies. It can only be used on terrain that has water.
Final Fantasy V
Whirlpool is an ability of the Geomancer job. It reduces one enemy's HP to a single digit. It can be used on the following terrain, Beaches, Walse Tower, Ocean, Ship Graveyard, Guido's Cave, and Istory Falls.
Final Fantasy XI
Leeching Current is an enemy ability that steals HP with a water current from targets in an Area of Effect. It is used by Angler Orobon, Ornery Orobon and Nuhn.
Final Fantasy XIV
Final Fantasy Mystic Quest
Whirlwater has an attack power of 200 and deals Water-elemental damage to both party member. It's an ability used by Water Hag.
The Final Fantasy Legend
Whirl is an ability that has 3 uses and has an attack power of 4 which damages all enemies, the damage formula is base on Mana. This ability is used by Scylla, Dagon, Kraken, Leviathn, and Sei-Ryu2.
Final Fantasy Legend II
Whirl is a magical attack that has five uses, it also increases a Robot's HP by 9. The damage formula for Whirl is the user's Mana x8, and target's all enemies. This attack can be used by Dagon, Dolphin, Kraken, Leviathn, Nymph, Scylla, and Sei-Ryu.
Final Fantasy Legend III
Whirl is a Ice-elemental attack that damages all enemies. Tempest, BoltRay, Kraken, Selkie, Dagon, and Gill Man can use this attack.
