FFIIIDS Whirlpool

Whirlpool in Final Fantasy III (3D).

Whirlpool (渦潮, Uzushio?, lit. Whirling Tides), also called Waterspout, Whirlwater, Leeching Current, and Whirl, is a recurring ability in the series. It is often an enemy ability, but also an ability the party may use by the Geomancer job. It often deals Water-elemental damage.

Appearances

Final Fantasy III

In the NES, Waterspout is an ability used by the Geomancer job from the Terrain command when fighting on the Sea terrain. It deals Water-elemental damage to all enemies.

In the 3D version, Whirlpool deals Ice and Water-elemental damage to all enemies. It can only be used on terrain that has water.

Final Fantasy V

Whirlpool is an ability of the Geomancer job. It reduces one enemy's HP to a single digit. It can be used on the following terrain, Beaches, Walse Tower, Ocean, Ship Graveyard, Guido's Cave, and Istory Falls.

Final Fantasy XI

Leeching Current is an enemy ability that steals HP with a water current from targets in an Area of Effect. It is used by Angler Orobon, Ornery Orobon and Nuhn.

A waterspout is an intense columnar vortex (usually appearing as a funnel-shaped cloud) that occurs over a body of water. They are connected to a towering cumuliform cloud or a cumulonimbus cloud.
