Wheiskaet Rysswoerdsyn is a non-player character in Final Fantasy XIV. He is a former captain of the Company of Heroes and currently works as Gegeruju's guard.
History[]
Early life[]
Wheiskaet is an former captain of the Company of Heroes, where he defeated Titan and Leviathan. Because of his injuries during the fight against the Titan, Wheiskaet had to withdraw from the battlefield. Before the Calamity, commander Lorens suddenly disbanded the Company and sent its members on separate ways, requesting that they continue to uphold the Company's creed, and then the commander disappeared. Wheiskaet was chosen as one of five judges to assess any who sought to repeat the Company's exploits.[2] Wheiskaet and some of his men became guards for Gegeruju, a wealthy merchant who owns the beaches of Bloodshore.[1]
Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn[]
In the absence of the Company of Heroes, the Maelstrom asked the Scions of the Seventh Dawn to deal with the Titan. Y'shtola and the Warrior of Light searched former Company members for information to infiltrate O'Ghomoro. They meet Wheiskaet who did not trust that the Scions had the ability to take on the primal and refused to divulge any information before they proved their worth.[3]
Wheiskaet and his former comrades instructed the Warrior of Light to prepare a banquet. Once done, Wheiskaet revealed the banquet was an excuse for his comrades to assess their worthiness to face Titan. The five members of the Company of Heroes agreed that Warrior of Light had the qualities necessary to defeat the Lord of Crags.[4] With the approval of his companions, Riol Forrest revealed the Company of Heroes had reached the heart of the O'Ghomoro mines using a beastman's aetheryte.[5]
Wheiskaet agrees to help Landenel search for Commander Lorens. However Landenel receives an anonymous missive reporting the death of the commander and saying that Wheiskaet would be organizing the funeral. Landenel traveled to Costa del Sol and questioned Wheiskaet for answers. However Wheiskaet claims to know nothing of the matter. When Landenel states his plans to abandon his current life to seek the commander, Wheiskaet realizes that the person who sent the letter was Lorens himself, wanting Landenel to follow his own path and overcome the past. Without explaining, Wheiskaet says that he would no longer help the commander and hopes that Landenel will understand his former commander's wishes.[2]
Final Fantasy XIV: Heavensward[]
Wheiskaet supports his former companion Curious Gorge and helps his brother Broken Mountain in his recovery at Camp Bronze Lake. Wheiskaet encourages Broken Mountain to continue studying the techniques of the legendary Mythril Heart and asks the Warrior of Light to find some proof of Mythril Heart's existence.[6]
Wheiskaet asks to Broken Mountain, Curious Gorge and the Warrior of Light to assist the Maelstrom in various operations against the beastmen at La Noscea. Eventually Wheiskaet decides to put his injuries aside and join the decisive battle against the Sahagins at Camp Skull Valley. Storm Marshal Eynzahr Slafyrsyn himself joins the battle and witnesses the strength of the Roegadyn brothers and after the battle requests that they teach the novice members of the Maelstrom.[7]
Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker[]
Due to the threat of the Final Days in La Noscea, Merlwyb has reunited the members of the Company of Heroes once again and suggests reforming the Company once more to help track down the blasphemy that has appeared in the region, and prevent the Crushing Tide from summoning the Leviathan. With Commander Lorens absent, the members agree to appoint Warrior of Light as the new acting commander. At first Wheiskaet was not confident about this decision, but after hearing the Warrior of Light's commands, he accepted the new acting commander.[8]
After defending Candlekeep Quay from a Crushing Tide attack, the Company of Heroes sets out in search of Doww, who is hiding on a deserted island in the Cieldalaes. At the location the party encounters the blasphemy and discovers that it originated from the Indigo Matriarch, queen of the Sahagin. The party manages to escape thanks to a shot from Lorens that does not reveal himself.[9] Knowing that Lorens' abilities would be needed, the Warrior of Light meets with him and recruits him back into the Company of Heroes. Eventually, Wheiskaet warns that the blasphemy has been drawn to the Sastasha Seagrot. Warrior of Light, Lorens and Merlwyb set off to confront the beast. In the middle of the fight, members of the Company arrive on the scene and help defeat the Indigo Matriarch. Once everything has been resolved, the Company members are finally reunited with their former commander and the Company of Heroes is dissolved once again.[10]
