The Werewolf is a giant/behemoth-type enemy in Final Fantasy XII. It is located in the southern part of the Giza Plains Starfall Field during the Dry. It is also fought in the Zodiac versions' Trial Mode at Stage 5 a Nekhbet and four Cockatrices where the following items can be stolen from it: Windbreaker (common), Chainmail (uncommon), and Berserker Bracers (rare).

The Werewolf's sword appears in the background of most weapon shops, chained to the wall.

Bestiary entry[]

Page 1: Observations[]

The story of this strange, man-like creature began, it is said, when a group of bandits ate the corrupted flesh of a wolf, becoming infected and changing form. Indeed, like the wolf, these afflicted beings are known to feed with relish upon rotting flesh. As carrion-feeders oft develop strong resistance to illness, some natural philosophers have urged detailed study of the creature in hopes of culling reagents for medicants from their flesh.

Page 2: Talk About Town[]

You've heard the famous saying that a good steak is worth ten-fold its weight in potions? Of course you have! Now, that saying's older than I am, and potions and philtres have come a long way since I was a lad, but you have to admit it still has the ring of truth about it! Eat a quality steak, look me in the eye, and tell me it doesn't invigorate you!
Irrim, Apothecary

The second page alludes to the Behemoth Steak item, which unlocks 10 X-Potions in the bazaar when sold.

Battle[]

The party should avoid the Werewolves at the beginning of the game, since they can kill in one hit. The Werewolves are often in pairs, so confronting them is not ideal unless the the characters' HP is at least 1000, since each attack would deal 150–200 damage.

Power-leveling[]

Vaan should have a Gladius and at least two Quickenings. The characters who join Vaan later will enter the party at a level similar to Vaan's, so by leveling up Vaan alone, the player is leveling up all six characters simultaneously.

After visiting Old Dalan and Penelo leaves the party, Vaan will get the Auto-Attack gambit, making it much easier to level on the Werewolves. After killing the Werewolves, the player can exit the area to the Crystal Glade without touching the save crystal, and exit out the other side, run back and the Werewolves will have respawned. This allows the player to rack up a large battle chain, increasing the quality of received loot.
