Welcome to Wendel, the sacred town.Wendel citizen
They party arrives in Wendel, and the Mysterious Man is found loitering about. Sumo and Fuji head over to the palace to meet Cibba, the sage. Cibba introduces himself to them, and explains Bogard told him about them. He confirms that the pendant is the symbol of Mana. He asks Fuji to step into the magic circle, and she'll see what must be seen.
Fuji enters the circle and her mother appears before them. She tells her daughter they are members of the Mana Family, seeds of the Mana Tree, who must guard it. The Vandole Empire abused the power of Mana a long time ago and thus she sealed the Waterfalls with the pendant so that nobody can approach the Mana Tree. Another empire by the name of Glaive Empire is trying to use it for evil. Telling Fuji to guard the Mana Tree with the Gemma Knights before the figure disappears.
The Mysterious Man enters the palace, telling them that the Glaive Empire is attacking Wendel. He tells Fuji that he'll take her to a safe place and they both leave. Cibba wonders where he's taking her and Sumo follows him only to see a wounded solder who tells Sumo he was attacked from behind by that man. Monsters roam the town.
Sumo makes it out outside and finds the Mysterious Man who is none other than Julius himself. Sumo asks why he's doing this, and Julius replies he was unsure if she was the right girl until he saw what happened inside the palace. He takes his leave and as Sumo follows, Julius unleashes his magical power upon him, incapacitating Sumo.
Sumo wakes up within the palace next to Cibba, telling him that Julius took Fuji to the west in his airship. Before Sumo goes in pursue of Julius, Cibba gives him the Book of Heal.
When Sumo returns to Wendel, he learns from the locals that Cibba went to Lorim because the town was attacked by monsters and is given directions on getting there.
After Julius's Defeat, Sumo visit Cibba in Wendel.
- Magic Book of Heal
- The Magic Circle was a hexagram (Star of David) in the original Japanese version. It was changed to an octagram for the North American and European versions.
- The player can kill the NPCs found within the town, but they have lot of HP and they do not yield the player any experience points or GP. Since NPCs can be hit, this can be used to "push" them out of the player's way and allow Sumo to pass through if they are blocking the way.
