The Warrior of Light is a hero fighting on the side of Materia in Dissidia Final Fantasy NT. He is a Vanguard type, who uses a sword and shield as weapons. The Warrior of Light returns from his original appearance in the 2008 Dissidia Final Fantasy and Dissidia 012 Final Fantasy, in which he had a similar combat style.

The Warrior's default player name is Nameless Guardian, and his manikin counterpart retains its original name, the False Hero.

Profile[]

Appearance[]

The Warrior of Light's base outfit, named "Warrior of Light", is adapted from Yoshitaka Amano's artwork Amano Origins of the Knight class from the original Final Fantasy. Unlike past games, including the original Dissidia Final Fantasy, it is more brightly colored, more closely resembling the original art. He wears a pale blue armor with gold and khaki details, a horned helmet, and a long khaki cape. He has blue eyes and long, silver hair. This costume has two alternate colors: a red and sepia (identical to his "Amethyst Armor" coloration from the PSP titles), and a white and gray.

The Warrior's first alternate outfit, "Fledgling Warrior", is based on the Warrior sprites Warrior-ff1-nes from the original Final Fantasy. It is similar to the "Classic Red" outfit from Dissidia 012 Final Fantasy, with alterations to the waist armor. The Warrior wears a simpler crimson armor with a brown kilt at the front, shorter gauntlets that show his biceps, and a shorter collar. He wears no helmet, showing dark red hair. This outfit has two alternate colors: one with white armor with silver accents, and one with sky blue armor with blue accents. Both lighten his red hair.

The Warrior's second alternate costume, "Knight in Shining Armor", is an updated version of his appearance during EX Mode in Dissidia Final Fantasy.

The Warrior has an additional alternate costume, "Nameless Warrior", also updated from Dissidia 012 Final Fantasy. This reveals long and spiky silver hair.

Personality[]

While he still possesses a strong attachment to World B and treats Materia with proper respect, he does not mindlessly heed her orders to fight Spiritus and pragmatically questions her motives. Knowing they are bound to face each other, his relationship with Garland becomes less belligerent and he is willing to put aside personal differences to achieve a common goal. When the champions of both sides come a truce, the Warrior shows a rare moment of lightheartedness when he laughs at the miracle of both sides working together.

Equipment[]

The Warrior equips swords and shields as his weaponry.

The default weapons are the Braveheart and Lustrous Shield, his base weapons from previous games. His first alternate weapons are the Flame Sword and Flame Shield, given original designs for the Warrior, with a unique orange glow as part of the traditional "Fire" equipment. His second alternate weapons are the Icebrand and Ice Shield, which like the Flame Sword and Shield, are original in appearance, and have sharper designs to reflect the traditional "Ice" equipment. The Sun Blade and Diamond Shield are his third alternate weapons, with original designs in which the main blade of the sword features a five-pointed tip, and the shield has a diamond engraved in the center. The Barbarian's Sword and Aegis are his fourth alternate weapons.

All of the Warrior's weapons, bar the Lustrous Shield, can be used in Final Fantasy, and they are recurring equipment in the series commonly equipped by the Warrior and Knight jobs.

Dissidia Final Fantasy NT Noctis, Warrior Of Light and Cecil

Noctis being introduced into the cycles of war by Warrior of Light and Cecil.

The Warrior of Light is summoned as a warrior of Materia to fight in the new war and is the first to arrive at her tower, paying his respects to her. Upon leaving the tower to search for the others, he appears before Lightning and a confused Noctis, striking down a manikin of himself. He greets the two and informs Lightning that they were not summoned by Cosmos, but rather Materia, to fight a new battle.

During the meeting with Materia with the other champions, she informs that they must fight each other to produce enough energy to sustain the existence of this world. After their meeting is interrupted by Spiritus, Materia orders her champions to fight his forces and dismisses them. The Warrior questions her intentions, but decides to lend her his aid for the time being. Once everyone disbands, the Warrior journeys with Noctis and Cecil to Spiritus's lair to confront him directly.

When Noctis and Cecil talk about the state they left their worlds, the Warrior says that even he has a home to return to, though he would have answered Materia's call no matter what, as he understands the importance of the realm they're in. Cecil observes that even though the Warrior does not understand Materia, her fight is still important to him. As they pass through a portal to cross a chasm, the three witness a planesgorger feeding on a crystal formed from the energy of battle. The Warrior and Cecil dissuade Noctis from fighting the dragon in favor of proceeding to Spiritus's domain, and the trio begin to wonder whether Spiritus is their true enemy.

DFFNT WoL Cecil Noctis

Warrior of Light, Cecil, and Noctis in Cornelia.

Arriving on an illusion based on Cornelia, the Warrior of Light shares with Noctis and Cecil the story of what he had been doing after the original cycles. He is interrupted by Garland, who states that even if they are no longer bound by the time loop of their home world, they are bound by fate to fight. While the Warrior's armor sustains heavy damage, he, Noctis, and Cecil defeat Garland, and question him if Spiritus is the one sapping the world's energy. After Garland informs him that Spiritus does not desire the world's destruction, the Warrior intends to return to Materia and appraise her of the situation, but Noctis stops him, reminding him that Spiritus can contact Materia using the communication channel they used before. The Warrior, Noctis, and Cecil are joined by Garland as they head to Spiritus's tower.

DFFNT Warrior of Light SS

Warrior of Light clashes against Garland.

As they arrive at Spiritus's domain, Shantotto initiates the conversation from Materia's side, and the Warrior and the others inform her and Spiritus of the planesgorgers. After the two gods form a truce, the champions on both sides engage in a stage battle to lure out Shinryu, the true culprit behind their predicament. Before the battle, the Warrior gives a speech to the champions, and bursts out in pleasant laughter at the reality that they are able to put their differences aside to fight for a common goal. During the battle, the Warrior primarily fights Garland. Once the battle energy summons Shinryu, the Warrior participates in a joint attack against the dragon, but is repelled as Shinryu reveals his true form in a potent burst of power. Once the warriors regain their composure, they work together to defeat Shinryu.

The Warrior is dismissed, but is soon summoned yet again to assist in the restoration of the world. After the world's restoration is complete, the moogles give the Warrior a crystal to host his memories for Materia to use in the upcoming infinitely long war. With a crystal doppelgänger of himself to serve on Materia's behalf, the Warrior returns to his home world.

Gameplay[]

Type: Vanguard - By blocking attacks with Shield of Light, the Warrior of Light will gain a buff that increases the power of Shield of Light and his HP attacks.
