Wantz and O'aka had a sister who was a summoner. She passed away approximately seven years before the events of Final Fantasy X. If the player revisits the Farplane in Guadosalam after Tidus says to party that Seymour went to Macalania Temple, they can find Wantz talking to her there. He shows her a sphere of Yuna and says that they look alike. He promises that Yuna will beat Sin for her.

Wantz and O'aka had a sister who was a summoner. She passed away approximately seven years before the events of Final Fantasy X. After the party exits the Kilika Temple, when the people crowd Yuna, Wantz can be seen by the stairs; he runs off immediately. In the S.S. Winno, Wantz is spying on Yuna behind a pole. If Tidus tries to speak to him, he will keep avoiding him. Next, after Tidus successfully or unsuccessfully learns Jecht Shot, if he goes to the top deck where Lulu and Wakka are talking, Wantz is on top of the sail above Lulu. This time, he is not spying on Yuna but most likely looking at the view instead. When Yuna is doing an interview in the center of Luca, Wantz can be seen behind her, spying on her once again with his camera. He does the prayer and runs off. At the Moonflow, he's being bullied by Biran and Yenke. After they stop bullying Wantz, he runs off once again.

In general, Wantz makes appearances at various points of the game as the story, these are: Kilika Temple, S.S. Winno, Luca, Moonflow, Thunder Plains, Mt. Gagazet and Macalania Woods.

When Yuna decides that she will marry Seymour, Wantz uses this as an opportunity to take a picture of Yuna and her guardians. In front of the Thunder Plains Travel Agency, Wantz runs in front of the party, pictures them, and runs off once again. In Mt. Gagazet, Wantz finally talks to Yuna face to face. He is in Mt. Gagazet to sell equipment to the party since O'aka XXIII is imprisoned for helping them since they've been branded traitors by Yevon. Wantz will sell the equipment at a discount, depending on how much money Tidus gave O'aka earlier in the game.

If the party speaks to Wantz in Mt. Gagazet, he appears in Macalania Woods selling equipment to the party.

During the Eternal Calm, O'aka and Wantz have a fight, and Wantz is kicked out of the family business for believing the Macalania Travel Agency would fail without the Temple. However, if the Gullwings complete all of O'aka's sidequests, he and Wantz will reunite at the Agency, although their feud doesn't seem to be over.

Wantz is notable for selling optimal equipment in the game, for both of his shops. The equipment with four empty slots in Macalania is especially vital for players who want to create weapons and armor with strong abilities. However, the appearance of Wantz on Mt. Gagazet is missable, and if the player does not speak to him on their first visit, then the young merchant will not appear in Macalania to sell the four-slotted equipments. After talking to Wantz on Gagazet, he will be found at the entrance to Macalania Woods from the Thunder Plains, after obtaining the Fahrenheit, and completing the mandatory visit to Bevelle.

Welcome to O'aka's!

Wantz.

Wantz is O'aka XXIII's younger brother in Final Fantasy X and Final Fantasy X-2. He appears at seemingly random times in the game to take pictures of Yuna. Later on, Wantz takes over his brother's business as a merchant. According to the Final Fantasy X Ultimania Omega, Wantz is 22 years old during Final Fantasy X.

Profile

Appearance

Wantz wears a green and yellow headband, a blue striped shirt, and yellow bandana tied around his waist, dark fingerless gloves, green baggy trousers, and red sandals. He has light skin and red hair. He also has a necklace.

Personality

Wantz is a kind and friendly person, and loves his brother and deceased sister dearly. He appears to be a timid man, avoiding Tidus in the S.S. Winno if he tries to speak to him. He is sneaky, secretly taking pictures of Yuna. He is overly helpful to Yuna and her guardians, selling them goods under threat of death by Yevon. He gladly takes O'aka's place selling items while O'aka is imprisoned.

Story

Spoiler warning: Plot and/or ending details follow. (Skip section)

Final Fantasy X

Wantz SS Winno

Wantz peeking on Yuna on the S.S. Winno.

If the party revisits the Farplane in Guadosalam after Tidus tells them that Seymour went to Macalania Temple, they can find Wantz talking to his sister there. He shows her a sphere of Yuna and says that they look alike. He promises that Yuna will beat Sin for her.

Final Fantasy X-2

Oaka and wantz reunited

O'aka and Wantz reunited in Final Fantasy X-2.

During the Eternal Calm, O'aka and Wantz have a fight, and Wantz is kicked out of the family business for believing the Macalania Travel Agency would fail without the Temple. If the Gullwings pay off O'aka's debt, he and Wantz will reunite at the Agency, although their feud doesn't seem to be over.

Spoilers end here.

Shops

Final Fantasy X

Mt. Gagazet
