Ahhh, no, I really hate how the contents table gets hella jank when all these headings start getting thrown in. Ew. Starting up the Titan's Trials in the Paramina's Final Fantasy XIII walkthrough.
Titan's Trials[]
Some variety! Yassssssss! Okay, so Titan's Trials throw a smidgen of nutmeg in the vat of gruel that missions 1-34 have proven to be up to this point.
There are seventeen missions in total that comprise of the Trials, each sorted into five tiers of difficulty A (the easiest, and smallest tier) to E (the hardest, and largest tier).
In order to actually progress through to the final stage Trials, you only need to fight like... five battles. However, from Tier B onwards, each mission has different unlocking conditions in relation to the other missions. Ugh. That was very inarticulate. I apologise. Look at the infographic to your right. J'a feel now? There are a series of different paths that lead to different outcomes. When you have defeated all seventeen missions, you unlock the "final trial": Mission 51, Attacus.
So let's hop to it!
Tier A[]
Mission 35: The Road Less Traveled (A1)[]
- Cie'th Stone Location: Truthseeker's Rise, The Faultwarrens
- Mark Location: Primeval Crossroads, The Faultwarrens
We know Gurangatches like the back of our hands at this point, but what makes this battle a little harder is time. The target time is really low, so for those five stars, we have to move fast. We need to Stagger this guy way quicker than we usually would, which means one of three options: Pre-emptive Strike (without Deceptisol), Pre-emptive Strike (with Deceptisol) and Random Instant Chain. The first is a pain, the second is easy, the third is luck.
Pre-emptive Strike (without Deceptisol): You need to coax the Gurgangatch out in a very specific manner in order to open up the space for your sneak attack. Watch this video over on YouTube for how to do it exactly. This takes a lot of patience and has a super small margin for error, so be ready to hit retry. Want to go for this option? Check out the strategies below marked as Pre-emptive Strikes.
Pre-emptive Strike (with Deceptisol): I'm not really a huge advocator of Deceptisol, but sometimes the situation just calls for it. You can use it for every single mission to make them easier, or you can use them when it really is pretty much necessary. I'd pick this one, personally. Plumping for this choice? Check out the strategies below marked as Pre-emptive Strikes.
Random Instant Chain: Ughhhhhh, Goddddddd. Do you gamble? This is entirely luck-based, and pretty much trial and error. This method relies on the synthesized ability (i.e., through equipment) and the blessing of sweet baby Jesus. It's a lot more complicated because it probably involves switching out your weaponry and accessories. Still, if that's your thing, then check out the strategies below marked as Random Stagger.
Pre-emptive Strikes: Nice and easy, just set up Ruthless (SAB COM RAV) and Aggression (RAV COM COM). Random Stagger: Your party should have Sazh as the Leader, then Fang and a strong Commando for your final slot (so Hope. Ha). It doesn't matter what tier you have, but equip Sazh with the Procyon or Rigels series, Fang with the Taming Pole series, and your third with either the Hauteclaire/Lionheart series, the Unsetting Sun series, the Heavenly Axis series or… the Alicanto series (lol don't use Hope though, seriously). Spread the following accessories through your party: Survivalist Catalog, Hunter's Friend, Speed Sash, Energy Sash, Champion's Badge. Okay, now let's talk Paradigms. Your default should be Aggression (RAV COM COM), with Sazh as your Ravager. You will also need Cerberus (COM COM COM). |
Cie'th Stone Mission: The Road Less Travelled |
No. 35 - Gurangatch |
Pre-emptive Strikes: With the pre-emptive, this should be a pretty swift takedown. Open with Ruthless to push it to Stagger and inflict a quick round of debuffs, then switch to Aggression to deal max damage before the gauge runs out. Random Stagger: Have Sazh open with Cold Blood. If this does not trigger the instant chain, then pause and hit Retry. You need to get that Stagger on the first round in order to make the time limit with this one. When Cold Blood does connect (and trust me when I say it's your best chance of doing so), switch to Cerberus and go hard. #prayingforyou |
Tier B[]
Mission 36: Dark Deliverance[]
- Cie'th Stone Location: Primeval Crossroads, The Faultwarrens
- Mark Location: A Dance of Shadow, The Faultwarrens
Your party leader should be a strong Synergist with access to Dispelga, so take your pick from Fang, Vanille, Sazh and Hope. Your other two party members just need to be decent Commandos and Ravagers, so really, just pick whomever you're soft on. For Paradigms... stick Decimation (SYN COM RAV) as your default. You'll also need Relentless Assault, Aggression (RAV COM COM) and like... maybe Diversity (MED COM RAV)? Probably not, but best to be safe, eh? |
Cie'th Stone Mission: Dark Deliverance |
No. 33 - Amam |
These two will probably open with Accursed Breath, which springs a bunch of debuffs on you. Have your Synergist counter with Dispelga, then do a quick few buffing rounds (Haste and Bravery are imperative; Enfrost for your Commandos is a bonus) before switching to Relentless Assault. When one Amam is down, switch to Aggression so your Commandos will focus on bringing down the same target. |
Mission 37: Dying of the Light[]
- Cie'th Stone Location: A Dance of Light, The Faultwarrens
- Mark Location: Via Solis, The Faultwarrens
Cie'th Stone Mission: Dying of the Light |
No. 34 - Rafflesia |
The pre-emptive is super easy to get, so wait for it, pounce, cast Firaga for a quick Stagger then clean them out with your Commandos and Firestrike. |
Tier C[]
Mission 38: Moonlit Madness[]
- Cie'th Stone Location: A Dance of Shadow, The Faultwarrens
- Mark Location: Via Lunae, The Faultwarrens
Mission 39: Seeing Stars[]
- Cie'th Stone Location: A Dance of Shadow/A Dance of Light, the Faultwarrens
- Mark Location: Via Stellarium, The Faultwarrens
Mission 40: Solar Power[]
- Cie'th Stone Location: A Dance of Light, The Faultwarrens
- Mark Location: Via Solis, The Faultwarrens
