  • Charlie Brown teacher's voice* Welcome to Part 27 of my, Cymbeline's Walkthrough!

Ultimate Weapons[]

Alright, we have the Growth Egg in someone's hands, so nows the best time to get out teams Ultimate Weapons. The item we need to upgrade Lv* 2nd Rank weapons is called Trapezohedron and can either be bought for 2,000,000 Gil or rarely dropped from Adamantoises. We are going to be doing the later, farming Adamantoises. First things first, make sure that Fang knows Highwind, also make sure that someone has a Lv* Collector Catalog equiped, and someone else has a Lv* Connnoisseur Catalog. Theses increase the chance that a normal item will be dropped, and also increase the chance that a rare item will be dropped. The Adamantoise's normal drop is a Platinum Ingot, that sells for 150,000 Gil, while its rare drop is the sought after Trapezohedron. To increase the chances of getting this item you want the Connoisseur Catalog (Upgrade of the Collector Catalog) equiped and you want to get a 5* rating on the battle, which isn't very difficlut at all. Next your going to want someone to equip the Growth Egg because that baby will make the Adamantoise give you 80,000 CP when you kill it. Also make sure the Fang has the Genji Glove equiped so she can break the damage limit.

Before taking on an Adamantoise you want just three Paradigms: Combat Clinic, Espionage, and Relentless Assault (All three we've used before, so you know what to do to make them) and you want Fang to be your party leader. Develope your team with the CP Neochu gave you and begin your hunt. There are two Adamantoises roaming the Steppe, you can identify them by their tusks, chains on their feet, and elaborate armor on their shells. There are also the slightly weaker Adamantortoise's that can be found in Adamant territory, but one of them has some help from weak wolves so keep that in mind. To beat the Adamantoise's easily follow my strategy exactly, and it will all be okay. (Though you'll probably have to power level like I did, I say max out two of your major roles and be about halfway done with the third before taking on the Adamanchilid, while being almost fully maxed in your major roles before taking on the Adamantoise. The best place to power level is the Behemoth King fighting the big wolf thing before Mahabara, about 15 seconds of fighting and a 13,200 CP reward with the growth egg.)

Trapezohedron Fight: Adamantoise
FFXIII enemy Adamantoise
HP: 5,343,000
Magic: 5,916
Strength: 11,537
CP: 40,000
Difficulty: Medium

Start off in Combat Clinic and sit through the first stomp. While waiting use Provoke to target one of the legs. Once Vanille and Hope has healed you up from the first stomp, use Relentless Assault to bring up the chain gauge. Use Ruin for this because if the Adamantoise steps on you you are dead, no questions asked. Switch to Combat Clinic every time he is about to stomp and when the legs Chain Gauge reaches about 500% use Highwind to finish it off. Don't worry if he stomps during this time just use Combat Clinc to heal and and repeat this strategy for the second leg. NOTE: Getting Protect up during this first stage will help greatly reduce the damage he deals and is a very good idea!

Once both legs are down, switch to Espionage and get out Deprotect, Deshell, Imperil, and Slow while Hope Hastes the team. Then just pound away with Relentless Assault and use Highwind right before he can get up. Just Rinse and Repeat one more time and the battle will be over. This strategy also works for the Adamantortoise, so you have four battles per load of the Steppe to get your catalyst.

Once you get three (or six if you want everyone to have an ultimate weapon) upgrade all your weapons into their best forms. Fang will have Kain's Lance, Vanille Nirvana, and Hope Nue. Getting these up to Lv* will cost a ton of money, but is very worth it. Also I suppose you should know that before I got all three of my Cacalysts I maxed out all my major roles and started to work on secondary roles (Synergist for Vanille, Ravager for Fang, and Saboteur for Hope). BTW it can be very annoying trying to get the catalyst because you could be battling for many many times and never even get one, or you could be lucker than me and get three in your first three times who knows.

Once you are ready to start upgrading your wonderful and extremely powerful weapons, you are going to want to sell all of your cash components and then pretty much every other component that isn't a catalyst. Now your going to want to buy 99 Sturdy Bones. Then you will want to buy 99 Ultracompact Reactors. These babys give off the absolute most exp out of any other compont and you will be using these and only these for maxing out your untimate weapons. These weapons will cost you a lot of money to max out, seeing as how they max at Lv100, so be prepared to possiably need to farm money components from Sacrifices or other enemies. For upgrading these weapons your going to want to give them 36 Sturdy Bones, then an additional 1,500,000 exp through Ultracompact Reactors.

NOTICE: For all of you who have been follwing my incompleted walkthrough you will notice that I have not eddited this page in one month and ten days. This is because I have been loathing the fact that I would have to start playing to hunt down the catalyst. In order to finish this walkthrough I am giving this quest the big middle finger and moving on with my life, with only maxed out second level weapons.

Equipment Update and A Toothy Grin[]

Okay here is an Update as too my characters Equipment so that you can see how you rank up to my team atm. You may either be ahead or behind either way all that means is that the battles will be easier or harder depending upon how you are set up. Anyways here we go:

Party Leader: Vanille Weapon: Brightwing Staff Lv* Accessories:Sorcerer's Mark Lv*, Sorcerer's Mark Lv*, Sorcerer's Mark Lv*, Weirding Glyph Lv*

Party Member: Fang Weapon: Venus Gospel Lv* Accessories: Warrior's Wristband Lv*, Warrior's Wristband Lv*, Power Glove Lv*, Genji Glove Lv*

Party Member: Hope Weapon: Eagletalon Lv* Accessories: Sorcerer's Mark Lv*, Sorcerer's Mark Lv*, Sorcerer's Mark Lv*, Growth Egg Lv*

Everything is Lv* because I hate seeing random 1's if that means anything to you. Anyway your going to need nothing more than two basic paradigms for these next few confrontations and those are:

Paradigm Vanille Fang Hope
Relentless Assault Ravager Commando Ravager
Diversity Medic Commando Ravager

Anyway this is the first stone in the circle of stones that I will now call the Circle of Life in homage to the Lion King. Look for the stone that gives this mission then its hunting time! Our Mark can be found in the Yaschas Massif so teleport there (go to the Higher Area aka Tsubaddran Highlands). Once there head down the path leading lower into the canyon and you'll eventually run into our mark.

Mark Fight: Ugallu
Ugallu
HP: 282,960
Magic: 718
Strength: 395
CP: 1,330
Difficulty: Easy

This is pretty easy at this point, in fact its a joke. No matter if you tried or chose not to bother with Ultimate Weapons this is easy. Everything here is weak to Ice so use Blizzaga to get the job done.

For winning you get a Rhodochrosite.

When your finished its back to the Circle of Life for your next mission.

What's Yours is Brine[]

This stone is in the Circle of Life like I stated before. Get to the stone, make Titan roar and then teleport to the same place you did before. Now head down and back to the Vallis Media. The mark is in the water area here, and doing it this way saves you a lot of time by subtracting battles and walking distance.

Mark Fight: Sahagin
FFXIII enemy Sahagin
HP: 64,800
Magic: 95
Strength: 510
CP: 910
Difficulty: Easy

Firaga everything and they will all fall into ruin. This is a joke just like the first one. Its like we went from the raging seas to a hot tub and frankly I don't like it, though it does make my job eaisier.

For winning you get a Uranite.

With that done head back to the Circle of Life for another "challenge".

The Culler of Many[]

The next mark is found in Mah'habara, or more specifically The Earthworks. Teleport to Mah'habara and make your way to the star on your map that represents the Behemoth. Also create the Paradigm: Espionage (Saboteur, Saboteur, Synergist).

Mark Fight: Humbaba
FFXIII enemy Humbaba
HP: 1,320,000
Magic: 1,217
Strength: 1,217
CP: 3,250
Difficulty: Easy

Start off by stagering the machine helping him and blast him into Oblivion with Lightning magic. Then shift over to Espionage and try to get out Deprotect, Deshell, Poison and Imperil while Hope gets Haste out to your team. Then when your hasted blast him with your hardest hitting Fire Attacks and try to kill him before he stands up.

For winning you get a Speed Sash.

Then head back to the Circle of Life.

Two-Faced Fiend[]

This is where the Circle of Life goes back to the raging ocean from the hot tub it was before. Out of all three times we've fought Zirnitra this is the hardest so be sure your prepared. Make your team as strong as they can be before taking on this mission, and your going to need a strict set of Paradigms to get through.

Paradigm Vanille Fang Hope
Relentless Assault Ravager Commando Ravager
Diversity Medic Commando Ravager
Mystic Tower Ravager Sentinel Ravager
Premeditation Saboteur Sentinel Synergist
Combat Clinic Medic Sentinel Medic
Discretion Medic Commando Medic

Okay so this mark can be found in the Sulyya Springs, so teleport there and set Relentless Assault as your active Paradigm.

Mark Fight: Zirnitra
Zirnitra FFXIII
HP: 2,475,000
Magic: 3,600
Strength: 3,600
CP: 20,000
Difficulty: Hard

Starting off in Relentless Assault focus all of your attention on the Ceratoraptors for as long as you can without needing to heal. The three of them will summon Ceratosaurs into the battle so they need to be taken out first. Not only this but Zirnitra isn't going to sit by and let you kill his help, he will devistate you with status effects and strong attacks. Feeding Stoop and kill a weakened party member instantly so be sure to have a sentinel out at all times when the going gets tough.

First off every enemy in this brawl is weak to fire so exploit that. Once all three of the Ceratoraptors are dealt with kill off their summoned help, then you are ready to face off against Zirnitra. Combat Clinic is your stop of healing needs. Once you heal up, hit Zirnitra with Deprotect, Deshell, and Imperil. Mystic Tower is for building his chain, and Relentless Assault for the brave. Discretion is there for those who and Fang to hit with damage while keeping their HP nice and topped off.

Its a tough brawl but when you win you will recieve an Energy Sash.

After that Teleport back to the Steppe, because we are not yet done with the Circle of Life.

Degela Vu[]

Finding this stone is the same as all that came before it, go to the Circle of Life and find the stone that has the same name as this section, simplicity itself. Teleport to Taejin's Tower and ride the elevator to the Cloven Spire, the mark should be found here.

Mark Fight: Gelatitan
Gelatitan FFXIII
HP: 679,140
Magic: 597
Strength: 634
CP: 2,900
Difficulty: Easy

If you want an easy victory start off with a preemptive strike and use Relentless Assault to plow through at least one of them. Thundara is a good spell to use seeing as how they are weak to Lightning damage. Once your preemptive bonus wears out switch over to Espionage to blast them with Deportectga and Imperilga, then use Relentless Assault to destroy them once and for all. Obviously healing is important so be sure to do that when your health begins to fall. (If you even have to.)

For winning you get a Mnar Stone.

Well kiddies guess where we're going? Yep back to the Circle of Life!

I, Juggernaut[]

This mark is the second to last mark of the Circle of Life? You excited? I'm not, because I know what lies ahead, on the bright side after beating this mission there are only a grand total of 3 marks left for us to destroy! This mark is found in Oerba so teleport there and you will find it in the village.

Mark Fight: Juggernaut
FFXIII enemy Juggernaut
HP: 1,584,000
Magic: 2,130
Strength: 1,151
CP: 3,900
Difficulty: Easy

This guy is super easy considering how far we've grown. Make this eaisier by using Espionage to get out Deportect, Deshell, Imperil, and Poison, then use Relentless Assault to plow through his HP. Nothing to this guy now.

For winning you get a Royal Armlet.

With that I hope that you brace yourself for the final challenge of the the Circle of Life, and I promise you that It will not be easy.

Indomitable Will[]

This is the final mission in the Circle of Life, and its definatly no walk in the park. Before taking on this mission develope your characters to their full use at this point. Now, Fang must be able to take the role of a Ravager before this battle, Tri-Disaster is a must Paradigm for this conflict. Resistance to Magic attacks helps, and use of Combat Clinic for your healing needs is a must. Now this is the set up I used for this conflict:

Paradigm Vanille Fang Hope
Relentless Assault Ravager Commando Ravager
Diversity Medic Commando Ravager
Mystic Tower Ravager Sentinel Ravager
Premeditation Saboteur Sentinel Synergist
Combat Clinic Medic Sentinel Medic
Matador Saboteur Sentinel Ravager

Now the mark can be found on the Steepe so use your map to find it and make sure your ready this won't be a very easy battle.

Mark Fight: Raktavija
Raktavija FFXIII
HP: 2,062,500
Magic: 1,800
Strength: 54
CP: 25,000
Difficulty: Hard

Start off by buffing yourself with an Agrisol and Fortisol so that you start with an array of good buffs before this battle. Use Relentless Assault for one turn, before turning over to Mystic Tower to start building the chain while Fang takes all the hits. When both of these guys are on the field don't switch out of using a Sentinel until one of them staggers. Once the first one does use Diversity to strike at its HP so that your team can keep its health up. Whenever you loose all of your buffs Premeditation can be used to put them all back up again and keep up the assault. It should only take about 2 Staggers to destroy the first one, (Maybe one if your strong enough and use Deprotect) and when the second one is by itself you can use Relentless Assault to hit it once staggered. This battle is not easy and if you need exp. Train near the enterance to Mahabara on the Steppe. Also a note on Staggering, use a different spell every time you cast one to constantly build the chain, using the same spell over and over has no effect except for the first one.

For winning you get a Genji Glove.

Well thats it for the Cicle of Life. Now onto the final page and chapter of this walkthough and this game, I'll see ya there.
