Well, here [[Selphie]]'s group will be able to enter thanks to the car they are driving I think. Your actions here affect your SeeD rank, so if you want to get a perfect SeeD rank upgrade do as I say. Go left and through the door. Save and examine the panel in between the two doors and the left one will open. Keep going and a guard will stop you. Choose to walk by casually. You really should avoid fighting here unless you absolutely have to. Keep going and go down the stairs. There's another save point here. Use it if you wish. You can speak to the guards if you want. Take the lower left exit beside the stairs and you'll be in a area containing a Blind draw point and two guards. Speak to them and then go back to the previous area and go through the door that leads up. Speak to the man examinating a missile and tell him to "...go on ahead". Go back to the area with the Blind draw point and speak to the soldiers again. You'll now go to the circuit room in their place. Go back to the area with the first guard you met and talk to him. Examine the control panel until the lights go out. Leave the room and talk your way out of this situation. I'd choose the option "We were just about to go call on you". Go back to the second save point and near the door a guy will come and ask for help with a launcher. Agree to help him and go in.

Go between the two guys and tap the square button to move the launcher. In this room there is a invisible draw point with Full-Life to the left. Leave this room and examine the computer. In the 'Target' option, go in the Error Ratio part. Put the error ratio to max and then choose to data upload. Exit the program and save. Well, the chances of a direct hit on Balamb Garden are smaller, but they still exist. I wouldn't rest too easy if I were them. Well, talk to the guy near the stairs and go up. And now they know you are not soldiers! This fight is nothing special, pretty much a normal Galbadian Soldier fight. Examine the the terminals in this room and then go up. Examine the terminal here and you've found the self destruct mechanism. You have to set a time limit. To get the best SeeD rank boost choose the 10 minutes option. It shouldn't be too hard, but if you're feeling insecure then go with 20. Go right and outside. Getting out won't be that easy, time for a boss fight!

Hello to all! Last part we had the end of Disk 1! Let's see what happens now on part 8 of my FFVIII walkthrough... Now listening to: Winds of Change - Scorpions

Winhill

Well, the second disk starts with a Laguna sequence. There is an invisible Curaga draw point in this room if you want some. There's this little girl called Ellone. Go outside with her. Go to the pub and Kiros will be there. Talk to him and choose all options. Seems Laguna took 6 months to recover from their last adventure, and Raine nursed him back to health. Ward lost his voice and now works at some place called D-District Prison. Seems Laguna was the inspiration for Julia's first song where she sings. She then married this guy called Caraway. Wait, so Julia is Rinoa's mother?

Well, go outside. You have to patrol the village and kill monsters on the way. Junction Laguna and Kiros. And head down till the edge of the village. You can visit the item shop here. See, Laguna has some cash that's separate from Squall's group. Use his money to buy stuff and it'll carry over to the main party. Go back to the pub. On the way Kiros will tell Laguna about a magazine called Timber Maniacs. After the scene, where Raine basically admits she is into Laguna, go back to your room and rest.

D-District Prison

Well, now you're back to the main plot. Seems Zell, Rinoa, Quistis and Selphie are in a prison. Hmm.. wonder where Squall and Irvine are. Talk to everyone. Sorceress Edea now controls Galbadia and you're imprisoned. This can't be good.. Oh and Zell was Ward on the last Laguna sequence and since this is where he was working, he kind of knows the place now. We now have a scene with Squall. Seems his wound is gone.. Well, Seifer comes to greet him. Back with Zell's group, some guards come and beat him up. Then they take Rinoa away. Meanwhile, Squall is being tortured by Seifer. Seifer is living his dream of being a Sorceress Knight.. But as Squall puts it, he's basically just a torturer.

Back with Zell's group, a Moomba comes in. I like the whole Moomba thing and their relation to the Shumis, but I think this should have been more explored. Back with Squall, you now find out that the Sorceress is launching missiles at Garden. Selphie will suggest a way to get out: skin this little guy and wear him as a disguise...". Well.. I'm kind of afraid of her. After all is said and done Zell will break out. Suit him up and go to the floor above. Fight the guards and you'll get back your weapons. Head back to the cell. Junction your party and you'll have a fight with Biggs and Wedge. They are nothing special. Just beat them up. You can draw haste here. If you have the patience, I'd draw 100 hastes for everyone and keep them stored for when you get a GF that allows you to junction magic to Spd. There are better magic for this kind of junction but this is available now and depending on the order you do some sidequests it'll be a while until you get easy access to the best magic for junctioning to Spd.

Now, if you want some items go down the stairs and check all the rooms until you reach the bottom floor. In the end you'll have: Tent, Pet House, Pet Nametag, Str Up, Combat King 001. I don't think it's worth it though. Well, go up now. Squall is at the top floor. Check all the doors on your way up. On the 8th floor there's a guy who sells items. Buy anything you need. On the 10th floor, you'll meet a guy who'll upgrade your battle meter if you win a game of Triple Triad. There's also a save point on this floor. On the 13th floor you'll be reunited with Squall. Selphie thinks jumping down 13 floors is a good idea. Quistis voices my thoughts here exactly. Well, once in the elevator press the button and you'll go down. Keep going and you'll see you're actually underground. Now, as Zell run from the guards. Squall will come to save him, which leads to a amusing scene. Irvine and Rinoa show up. Seems Rinoa's father had Irvine to get her out of the prison. But they went back to save the rest. Form a party of Squall, Rinoa and whoever you want. I'm taking Quistis. Go back to the 13th floor. The scene will change to Irvine's party. Keep going down and the scene will switch to Squall's group. Speak to the Moomba for a Cottage. Oh, remember to Junction exchange whenever you switch parties. Head down to the next screen and up the stairs. Keep going and we'll have a boss fight!

Boss: 2x GIM52A and Elite Soldier
FF8 GIM52A

Level: 1-100 | HP: 1431-19400 (GIM52A); 148-4940 (Elite Soldier) | Draw: Haste, Slow, Dispel, Esuna (GIM52A); Fire, Thunder, Blizzard, Scan (Elite Soldier) | Steal: Missile, Screw (GIM52A); Tent, Cottage (Elite Soldier) | Drops: Missile (GIM52A); Potion, Phoenix Down, Hi-Potion, Cottage (Elite Soldier)

The Elite Soldier provides support to the GIM52A. So defeat him first if you can. The robots have Micro Missiles to weaken you, but can't kill. They do have a somewhat poweful physical attack. Quistis can learn this attack with the item they drop. Heal when needed. If Squall gets to critical HP, the battle will be over a lot faster: just unleash Renzokuken. You could cast thunder magic or summon Quezacotl too.

After the scene here, go back outside. Start crossing the bridge and the Prison will start to submerge. While hanging onto the ledge hold diagonal up-right. If you fail here you'll get a game over. Well, now the Sorceress is going to lauch missiles to destroy Trabia and Balamb Gardens. Seems Trabia is already done for. You have to divide into two teams: one to go to the missile base with Selphie and stop the lauch and other to go to Balamb Garden with Squall. I'm taking my usual gang here, so my teams were: Squall, Quistis, Irvine and Selphie, Zell, Rinoa. As Squall go left and approach the train. If Irvine is with you, there's a small amusing scene of him taunting a galbadian soldier trying to keep up with the train.

Now, you'll be in control of Selphie's car. Go Northeast and then west and you'll find the Missile base.

Missile Base

Boss: BGH251F2
FF8 BGH251F2

Level: 1-22 | HP: 4200-8400 | Draw: Shell, Protect, Stop | Steal: -- | Drops: --

Well, this thing has basically two attacks: a physical that'll do about 300 damage. And Beam Cannon with will do about 900 damage to a character. This attack also ignores protect. You can draw-cast protect on your characters to lessen the damage from the physical attack though. It does take a turn charging for Beam Cannon.. at first.. then it'll use normally. You really should defeat this thing quick, cus when weak it uses Beam Cannon every turn. If Selphie gets into critical HP, Full Cure will be great. Otherwise heal normally with magic or items. For offense, you could junction thunder to a strong character's Elem Atk. For me, Zell had Squall's junctions here so with thunder junctioned to his Atk, he was doing great damage. He got to critical HP and Duel did a hell of a lot of damage. You can also summon Quetzalcoatl and Brothers. For me it was basically Zell doing physical hits and limit breaks with Selphie and Rinoa summoning Quetzacoatl/Brothers or healing. After this thing falls, you have to fight two galbadian soldiers. They shouldn't pose any threat.

The team is trapped anyway. Well, surely they'll find a way to esca... WTF? Seems the base blew up with them. Oh well, let's see what happens next!
