Anyway, we have to stop this! Basically, Lunatic Pandora will take 20 minutes to cross the city. You'll have three opportunities to enter it. It's very easy to make it on the first though. From Odine's lab, go right until you're at the city entrance. Go up and you'll be in the inner skyway. From here, go left, then left again. You are now at the first contact point. When it's 15 minutes left on your timer, you'll get a battle with normal Galbadian soldiers. Near where you enter, there's a Meteor draw point. Go up and take the left elevator. Keep going through the linear path and then up when you reach a fork. This robot thing will kick you out... and that's it!

Hey, this is part 14 of my FFVIII walkthrough and this where we go to space (Piece of My Heart - Janis Joplin)!

Lunar Gate

At the Lunar Gate follow the staff person in. Angelo will show up. Seems the dog is concerned about Rinoa too. Don't know how Squall can tell though. Well, Lunar Base is in outer space and that's where Ellone is. So, we have to go there so you can see her. Here, yo have to choose someone to come with you. I chose Quistis, but it really doesn't matter. Zell will guard Edea while you are gone. He gets pissed if you say he shouldn't. I must say, Esthar's technology is impressive indeed. The scene of the launch is very cool. Go outside and you'll see this weird thing flying by. This can't be good... Seems it is heading for the city. Choose your party members, junction up and get going. For me the party is Zell, Edea and Irvine. When you reach the city, go to Odine's Laboratory.

Enter Lunatic Pandora

Here, we find out that the weird thing is actually called Lunatic Pandora. Seems the Galbadians salvaged it from where it was and now control it. Some years ago Esthar escavated this thing and is also where Laguna and the gang were before having to dive from a cliff to escape in one of the flashbacks. Seems Lunatic Pandora have an effect on the moon. The moon is the world of monsters. The Lunatic Pandora contains something called the crystal pillar, that can call monsters to Earth. This event is the Lunar Cry. The effect is maximized when the crystal pillar is in a specific point in Earth. That place is Tear's Point. Seems that's where the Galbadians are heading and seems they want to induce the Lunar Cry for some reason.

From here go left to the next screen.

Lunar Cry

After Zell's party failure to stop the Galbadians, we switch to Squall's group. There's a nice scene of the group arriving at Lunar Base. As you arrive some guys say: "I hope they don't cause any problems". Let's keep our fingers crossed then... Check up on Adel? Hmm.. So near here is where Adel is imprisoned? Can't help but worry a bit. Well, the guys will tell Squall to take Rinoa to the medical lab. Note that you can win the Alexander Card from the white coated doctor here. However, Triple Triad here is very annoying, as basically all the rules that can turn this game into hell are active. Seriously, all these rules combined will make you think the random rule rocks.. So save if you attempt this. I did it, but it took me more than 10 tries. Anyway, enter the lab and you'll leave Rinoa there. Leave the lab and go up. Here go through the upper left path and you'll be in the control room. Look at the moon. Monsters are gathering in a point. The Lunar Cry is about to happen. Leave this area and go up the stairs. Go straight and you'll finally reach Ellone. Before doing this you can talk to the people here for a little more information on this place.

You can win the Laguna Card from Ellone here, but again it'll be hell. Squall wants to change the past, somehow help Rinoa. Ellone wanted to change the past too, which is why she sent the party to Laguna's period. Seems she didn't want Raine to die alone. But she came to realize you can't change the past. "You can find out things about the past that you never knew. And from what you've learned, you may see some things differently in the present. You're the one that changes. Not the past". Well, Squall still wants to try, so he'll take Ellone to see Rinoa. Go to where you left her then.

Hmm.. this background music can only mean one thing, and it isn't good... Rinoa now possessed by Ultimecia is acting weird. If you try to examine her you'll be pushed away. Go to the control room, where Rinoa's going. Here, she will break one of the seals in Adel's tomb. Damn! She's now heading for the tomb itself where the other seal is. Try to talk to Rinoa. Go back to the hall before Ellone's room. Wow, the Lunar Cry just happened. Must be total panic down there. Go right through the door near this guy on the ground. Open the locker and put on the spacesuit. As you go out, you'll see there's no stopping her. Seems Sorceress Ultimecia planned this whole thing: freeing Adel and the Lunar Cry. Go back to the control room and then you'll have to evacuate.

At the escape pod, Ellone will take Squall to Rinoa's past. We'll now see some events from Rinoa's point of view. Then we go back to when Rinoa turned comatose. We'll get to see Ultimecia's true form at last. Seems she instructed Seifer into getting the Lunatic Pandora. "Oh, my loyal knight, Seifer. The sorceress is alive... The sorceress demands. Find the legendary Lunatic Pandora, said to be hidden beneath the ocean. Only then shall the sorceress provide you with dreams again". Well, now we'll get a scene of Rinoa drifting in space. When its over, Squall will go out into space to save her! We get a small minigame where we must catch Rinoa. You have to move the camera so that Rinoa is in the center of the screen. Triangle will help you move faster, but it really shouldn't be necessary. Now, our couple is reunited... But kind of screwed, I must say. Well, there's this abandoned airship and the couple manage to sneak inside. Don't miss what happens next page!
