Alright, we're still side-questing, and have most of them out of the way. Next up, ultimate weapons!

Ultimate Weapons
  +
Alright, next we'll be going and getting everyone's Ultimate Weapons. We'll need a bunch of difficult to get items and we'll need to know the Rare Item ability with Bahamut, so head back to Cactuar Island and learn it. Once you have it, make sure you remember to equip them and we'll have 2 characters with Mug to help us get everything. Also note that when you max out of Cactus Thorn items, go use some to boost your character's compatibility with Catcuar. Remember, you upgrade your weapons in this game by using items. As long as you have the items, it doesn't matter if you have the recipe from the Magazine or not, so I'm going to list each weapon and the items you'll need and then how to get those items. Hopefully it'll be easy for you to see what items you need and then where to get them. Alright, let's get going.

  +
*Dragon Fang (x4)
  +
*Pulse Ammo (x12)
  +
  +
Alright, you should have the Adamantine from when you stole it back in FH. The pulse ammmo is refined using the Ammo-RF ability and the Card Mod ability. If you Modify Elnoyle cards (10 into 1) you'll get Energy Crystals and each one refines into 10 pulse ammo, so you'll need 2 energy crystals. If you need these and don't have the cards, there's another way to farm these. We'll need two for Squall's weapon, 2 for Rinoa's, and 4 for Quistis'. You can find a great place to get these in the city of Esthar.
  +
  +
Head back there and land at the airstation. From the airstation, out of the terminal, then head up two screens then down a screen. Note that there are monsters here, so be careful or equip Enc-None. Once you get here, head down the walkway to the right and talk to the soldier on the top of the walkway. Turns out he's an Elnoyle in disguise. You can steal a moonstone from him (which we'll need for Irvine's weapon below) and he'll drop energy crystals (if you steal he wont' drop items). With the Rare Item ability equipped you'll sometimes get 4 of them. Leave the screen and come back in and he'll be back, so you can just keep fighting him until you get all the crystals you need. Be warned, he can be difficult and uses death magic (so junction againt it) and also counter attacks physical attacks, so don't attack him if you're low on HP. Doomtrain works wonders on him. He has pain, holy and double to draw if you need. If you get a couple extra energy crystals, that's great as they'll refine into Pulse ammo (not only for Squall's ultimate, but also the best ammo in the game for Irvine's Limit break) and they can each refine into 3 Ultima spells. When you're done head back to your airship.
  +
  +
If you haven't gotten the dragon fangs, then head north by where Shumi Village is. In the forest just south of there (across the water), you'll find Blue Dragons. These will drop the dragon fangs and you can steal a Fury Fragment from them, which you'll need one of for Zell's Ultimate Weapon. To quickly kill them you can draw death magic from them and use it on them. Once you get them, use you Junk Shop ability to get the weapon.

  +
  +
You should already have these from fighting Malboros when we were getting Doomtrain (see above). If not head back to the forest and fight more Malboros. The sharp spikes are easily gotten by refining the Grand Mantis cards, or finding the Grand Mantis in the Centra Ruins and mugging them from them. You should also already have the energy Crystals (if not see above). Relatively easy to get, so use Junk Shop to grab it.

  +
*Dragon Skin (x4)
  +
*Fury Fragment (x1)
  +
  +
You should have the fury fragment from fighting the blue dragons above. If not, go back and mug them for this. Dragon skin can be dropped from Anaconduar enemies which can be found in the forest just west of where Galbadis Garden used to be (a bit south and west from Dollet). Head into the forest and kill a couple of these to get the dragon skin.
  +
  +
We'll need to get another adamantine, so head a bit north. Just a bit west from Dollet is a beach, so land and go fight on that beach. There you'll find Adamantoise monsters that will drop these. We'll need 3 total (one for Squall that you should have already used, one for Zell and one for Selphie), so get enough. These things have super high defenses and a lot of HP, so use doomtrain to lower their physical defense and then kill them with physical attacks. They're not common enemies but not rare either. You'll know you're at the right place if you open your menu and it says you're on Hasberry Plains. Also, while your fighting them, be sure to mug one for a Whisper item which teaches Quistis Mighty Guard. To make this easier, come into the battle with Tonberry's LV Down ability equipped and use it to half their level as this item is easier to steal from a one below the level of 30. When you use this, it will cut their level in half, so you might have to use it twice on one of them to lower them enough for an easy steal (Easy tip, if you use it and it lowers them by 30 levels or more, use it again). Once you have these, create Zell's Ultimate Weapon, Save, and move on.

  +
  +
You should already have the adamantine (see above). Curse Spikes can be gotten by refining tri-face cards or dropped by Imps near Esthar. The Star Fragments are what's difficult here. You can get them from cards (you need 3 Iron Giant cards for each item), or you can steal them from Iron Giants. The best place to find Iron Giants right now is at the Tears' Point underneath the Lunatic Pandora. Remember, if you fly to close the game will continue, so set down a bit away and walk into the area. Iron Giants have a high physical attack and defense, so use blind and Vit0 (or doomtrain) to make the fight much easier. Steal the Star Fragments and remember that's we'll need a total of 5. Once you have these, grab Selphie's Ultimate Weapon, and notice that one of it's special abilities is that it boosts her hit% to 255 along with Squalls, so she'll never miss.

You should have gotten the Star Fragments when you got the ones for Selphie (see above). You should have a Dino Bone but if not you can refine T-rexaur cards or steal them from T-Rexuars in the Balamb Garden training Center (the Garden is docked at FH, which you can land ontop of with your airship). You should have gotten the moonstone bt stealing from an Elnoyle when you were getting energy crystals. The screws you can get from Geezard cards or by stealing them. I can't imagine you actually would't have enough screws but if not you can find Geexards to steal from in the plains by Dollet, near the beach where you got the adamantites. This one should be pretty easy and you probably have most everything.

  +
  +
Save, and then get ready to go find a couple more items. You should already have the energy Crystals (see above). The windmills you should have from earlier in the game, but if not there's birdlike creatures right around the Tomb of the Unknown King that you can steal them from or that will drop them. You can also get them by refining your Abyss Worm cards. You should have a bunch of Regen Rings from fighting but if you don't then the torama and Turtapod enemies in and around Esthar drop them and you can steal the from the torama.
  +
  +
The really difficult one here is the Force Armlet. If you were lucky Edea dropped one the second time you fought her. If not, then it's only gotten through a rare drop from the Ochu and Forbidden enemies. So, make sure Bahamut's Rare Item ability is equipped and head back to where Galbadia Garden was (you'll see a large red dot). It's just a bit south-west from Dollet. In the forest nearby (where we had a dream sequence with Laguna) you'll find plunty of Ochus. As it's a rare drop (12/256) it could take a while, but you'll get it eventually. Luckily I just found a much easier way to get this! Use your Call Shop and call the Esthar Pet Shop. If you have the Familiar Ability, you can just buy one, grab Rinoa's Ultimate Weapon, then call it done. Sweet! Well, that's all of them. Next we have a couple more small side quests to get some items to help our GF junctions, so let's go!

Well, I hope you like playing cards, because we will be a lot in the near future. So, you may have met the queen of cards in the Balamb Station at some Point during the game but until we obtained an easy way to get anywhere in he world, it's not a quest you want to undertake. Now that we have the Ragnarok it's doable, though depending on the rules scattered throughout the world, possibly very difficult. If you've been spreading the random rule around, it will be hard. So, here's how this works: Everytime you win or lose a rare card to the Queen of Cards, she'll move locations. There are 8 locations she can be at.
  +
  +
*Galbadia (The Galbadia Hotel in Deling City)
  +
*FH (On the Train Tracks just to the right of the mayor's house in FH)
  +
*Esthar (Presidentil Palace)

*Trabia (Hotel in Shumi Village)

  +
*Dollet (The Pub)
  +
*Balamb (By the Train Station)
  +
*Far Away (Lunar Gate's Concourse Area)
  +

In each place she will only head to certain other places, as seen below:

Also note that whatever regions she's in the trading rules will be affected. Watch out for the Direct rule which means you keep any cards you directly take, which keep which can make winning one of your rare cards back from her hard. As I said when you lose (or win) a rare card from her, talk to her and she'll tell you where she's going. So...what is the point of the quest? To get her to Dollet. This is her hometown and while she's there, you can ask her about her father, who's an artist. She'll tell you he creates cards and ask you for a specific card. If you lose it to her, a new card will be created and distributed to a specific person around the world. Also, if at all possible, avoid spreading the random rule while doing this quest as it will make it much harder and keep track of what cards you've lost to her so you can win them back. So the trick to make her move is lose a rare card to her then go to her next location and win it back since it will still be in her inventory until she goes to Dollet. However, when you lose a card to her in Dollet to create a new card, that card will be moved into her little brother's inventory (who's the child living with her artist father one screen down from the pub).
  +
  +
So, here's one general strategy (the one the game expects you to use), though I'll highlight an easier one in a minute. First, lose your Ifrit Card to her in Balamb then see where she goes. Next place she goes, win Ifrit back to get her to move again (unless she's in Dollet...more on that in a minute). Continue this until she's in Dollet or until you spread the random rule or she moves to the Lunar Gate, at which point reset and try again. Once she's in Dollet ask her about her father, see the card she wants and lose it to her. Then see where she's going next, go win the card back from her brother so you have my card. Once you've given her all five cards she asks for in Dollet (Minimog, Sacred, Chicobo, Alexander and Doomtrain) and have won those back from her brother and all the rare cards back from her that you were using to move her around, go get the new rare cards from around the world. If you lose the card to her and she goes to Dollet, when you ask she'll say she has already given the card to her father. Also make sure you don't lose these card to her to get her to move, or you may not have them to lose to her if she moves to Dollet. The one exception is that after you give her Alexander, Doomtrain will be created and you have to give that to her next, so get it from the pub owner in Timber (the counter on the right) before continuing. Here's a list of the cards created, and where to get them:
  +
*Minimog-Kiros. It's in Deling City and the man in black across from the Junk Shop has it.
  +
*Sacred-Irvine. It's in FH and Flo (the Mayor's wife) has it.
  +
*Chicobo-Chubby Chicobo. The student in Balamb Garden (Parked at FH) on the bench by the library entrance has it.
  +
*Alexander-Doomtrain. Timber Pub owner (on the right) has it. Note: This guys is very stingy with the Doomtrain card but will play it eventually.
  +
*Doomtrain-Phoenix. Esthar, Presidential Palace, Presidential Assistant in the lab where we met Odine originally has it.
  +
  +
Once you've got all your rare cards back, you can check your card inventory and there should only be one missing. That's because when we get the last GF, which is next, we'll also get his card. So, congratulations on being a Master Card player and getting all the cards! We'll refine a couple before the final boss, or you can just keep your pretty collection whole, whatever you choose.
  +
  +
Technically, the quickest way to go about this is to have her move between Dollet and Balamb and reset when she doesn't go there. You can actually play and lose the Minimog, Sacred, Chicobo and Alexander cards all to her the first time you play her (using the direct, all or diff rules if you're good enough at losing) and have her move to Dollet, so when you talk to her there, she'll say she's already given those cards to her father and you can win them all back from her brother. Then go get all the cards created (see above for locations and make sure you don't spread Random), then come back to Dollet and play until you can lose doomtrain (and only doomtrain) to her, get it from her brother, then go and get the Phoenix card. It took me about 3 hours of trying and re-trying to finally randomly draw doomtrain and lose it to her. If you lose more rare cards than just doomtrain to her, you'll have to track her down and get your other rare cards back. I would recommend you try this method, as if you can manage it, because it makes this extremely long drawn out quest take much less time.
  +
  +
As a final note I have seen comments that you can skip this entirely and as long as you've done the CC Members quest we did a couple pages ago all of these "unique" cards will be in their inventories once we get to Disk 4. I haven't tested it myself but I thought I would note it here.

We've already been here once to get Bahamut but now it's time to delve deeper into this mysterious facility. Be warned that at the bottom of this dungeon is an extremely difficult optional boss. Make sure you have some decent magic (Triple, Haste, Stop or slow) to junction to your character's Speed stat (the two that can junction it right now) since the boss moves really fast and you need all the speed you can get. Initiative or Auto-Haste might also help in the speed category. You should have decent stocks of Curaga, Life, Full-Life, and Quake and hopefully also have the Move-Find ability mastered by now and the Revive command is also useful. Also to make the boss easy make sure someone has Aura. If not go fight some cactuars. I'll be using our standard party (so far) of Zell, Squall, and Selphie.
Be warned if you fly close enough to the place you'll automatically enter. Before you do so I recommend saving outside somewhere and equipping someone with Blind (or pain) to their ST-Atk and someone else with sleep to make the next boss easier. Once you get close enough to the place while flying the Ragnarok you'll get a cinema where we bust inside. Right inside Raijin and Fujin are waiting.

  +
Alright, ready to go? We're going to start by heading inside then down through the hole where Bahamut was. If you've just beat him you'll have to go back to the Ragnarok and take off, then re-land here to open the area. Once you're inside they'll explain how the steam works. You'll need to expend steam to open doors. You start with 20 (and automatically use 4 on the first door) and you'll need 10 to fight the boss at the bottom. There's two ways to do this...one with Zell (since he can basically bypass one of the doors for us) and one without him. I'll list both out.

| Strategy = These guys are back again and not much has changed since the last fight. Raijin will use Aura on himself so he can constantly use his Raijin Special move and Fujin will blast you with magic and has an attack that can instantly reduce you to 1 HP. Not nearly as bad as some of the other bosses we've fought. Stealing is optional since you get the same item from Fujin and Raijin's Power Wrist you can steal isn't really better than the two STR-Ups you get from his drop.

  +
*With Zell
Start by summoning Doomtrain to weaken their defenses. Next hit Raijin with Blind either using the spell or attacking with someone who has it junctioned to their ST-ATK. Follow suit with Sleep on Fujin. Now just proceed to beat Raijin down followed by doing the same to Fujin. If you find Raijin's doing too much damage use protect (or Cerberus then triple protect). Overall this isn't really too hard of a battle so you should be fine.}}

*Without Zell
Now that you're done with these two save and head into the area. The first thing to note is that all enemies here are only level 1. This means they'll be really easy to kill but they also don't give much EXP, drops, items to steal, or magic to draw. You might want to consider slotting in the Level Up ability from Tonberry on Squall and leveling up monsters to be able to draw decent magic or get items. Of course that's up to you and depends heavily on what you need. Also if you haven't gotten the Barrier item for Quistis and her Mighty Guard limit break the Behemoth's drop them or it can be mugged from them. Finally, you can always turn around and head back to your nifty airship and leave if you need to but once you complete this place the world (and game) will change drastically so make sure you do anything else you want or need to before finishing up here. Because of that I would save here and start saving on a separate save file just in case you want to come back and do other things later. This is essentially the point of no return.

  +
**2F - use 2 RSP.

**3F - use 4 RSP. Use the computer for an Esuna Draw Point and it will recharge 7 RSPs.
  +
**4F - use 1 RSP.
  +
**5F - use 1 RSP.

**6F - use 4 RSP.

  +
Now we're down in the bottom area and you should have at least 10 RSPs left. You might as well un-equip ENC-None since all the fights here are triggered. Also make sure you have Move-Find so you can find the save point just before the boss. Here's what you'll be fighting as you go down:
So now that we're free to roam the area head through the circular door in front of you. In this next area there's two exits, one straight through the tunnel in front of you and one on a side tunnel that exits the same way but runs parallel to the one you're starting in. We're going to take the second of the two but you should know that the one straight down the tunnel will lead you to an elevator which is elevator 2 and takes you down to a couple other elevators. We'll get there soon enough but we're getting items first.

  +
*Area 1 - Tri-Face. I recommend you mug this for Curse Spikes. We'll need 100 of them to learn Quistis' ultimate limit break and once you do that if you can get even more you can use them for all sorts of things. Since this is a guaranteed encounter you can do it over and over and farm them here. If not we'll do it later but know it will be in a much harder area.
So, since we took the second tunnel follow the linear path until you come to a large red door marked with a 3. This is elevator 3 and will take us to the elevator nexus mentioned above. We won't be taking it quite yet. There's two exits here so take the one that is on the right side of the screen heading down, not the one going into another tunnel. On this screen take the ladder down and just below you is a Confuse draw point. Head to the right and search for a hidden LuvluvG item which is one of our rewards for doing things with Laguna in the past here so long ago. Once you've got it exit out of the left side of the screen.

  +
*Area 2 - Imp and Grendel. Be warned Imp has a finishing spell Holy.
  +
*Area 3 - Behemoth. You can Mug it for a barrier for Quistis Blue Magic Mighty Guard if you don't have it yet. There's a hidden Triple Draw Point near the half-visible statue so draw some if you need it.
  +
*Area 4 - Ruby Dragon. There's a hidden Ultima draw point here near what looks like a curved gate. If you're having issues use Meltdown or Doomtrain then physical attacks or put him to sleep and use magic.
  +
*Area 5 - Iron Giants.

  +
Now we're at the final steam machine. Use the hidden save point and use a tent if you need to fully heal. Refine all your Ultima Stones into Ultima spells before the boss since he'll drop 100 of them at the end. He also has Ultima to draw (and this is our best chance to get it) so spread Ultima out or give it to the person with the weakest MAG since they'll draw less (or to someone who won't be drawing like our person with the Revive ability).
Follow the path for a screen and then in the next one you'll find three open panels which you might remember from the past when Laguna set a trap here. The middle one will be open if you set the trap and has a Silence draw point behind it. The left one has a Phoenix Pinion and the right one has a Power Generator which you can use to teach Quistis the Ray Bomb spell. In the next screen move to the right wall and search for the hidden Combat King 005 which is yet another reward from our Laguna days. Make sure you read it to get Zell's final finishing move for his Limit Breaks. At the end of this hallway is a dead end and an Ultima draw point so be sure to draw with someone with high magic to get as much as you can. Once you've got that backtrack to the red elevator door 3 and head into it.

  +
I would recommend giving Alexander to someone other than Squall (I'll be giving it to Selphie) and giving them the Revive command. Also have sure your other characters have Magic so they can cast Life/Full-Life and that someone has the Aura spells. Make sure everyone has Quake on their Elem-Def and as mentioned earlier make sure everyone who can has something good junctioned to their speed. Initiative or Auto-Haste also are useful. Make sure your "Healer" (mine's Selphie) has good Spr and HP so she'll survive to revive others. Also make sure you Don't have Mug equipped.
Now you'll be at the elevator nexus which has three elevators. There's a Curaga draw point beside the middle one or 2 which will take you back to the entrance. Before we head up 1 head down a screen and down a set of stairs. On the bottom right side of the stairs is a Meteor draw point. Now head back up the stairs and use elevator 1 on the left side.

Hug the left wall in this next room and just before the exit on the top you should find a Spd-J scroll. Use an amnesia green on Ifrit on Shiva and have them learn it so Zell can junction magic to his speed (I'm going to have Shiva forget Elem-Def-J since I find an Ice summon boosting Speed ironically funny). There's a save point just before him so save and make sure you heal and check your junctions here since just ahead is a boss. If you want an easy fight junction Thundaga magic to your Elem-Atk. Once you're ready follow the path up until you hit a bridge and fight the boss there.

Once you've mugged him use Thunder magic or Quetzacotl to move the battle along.

Once you attack and "destroy" the probes they'll detach and the boss will go into his FINAL FORM (Support Weaponry Attack Mode) where if you attack the probes you'll get countered and he becomes more weak to physical attacks. When he does this transition his next move will also be his Corona attack which will drop everyone to 1 HP and if you attack his counters could kill you. Be ready to heal either by drawing magic from the left probe or with a Full-Cure from Selphie. Since you're already at low HP no reason not to just blast him with Limit Breaks right?}}

Once you've beaten the boss be sure to heal up and I would recommend saving since this is the actual point of no return...if you go forward you can't go back. Now we have another boss fight straight ahead. Once you're healed head up to revisit an old rival and the final boss of this disk.

| Strategy = First off let's get your defenses by summoning Cerberus for Double/Triple on your characters then with Haste and Shell (which is easy with Double/Triple). Also draw Regen from him and cast it on all your characters. He does use physical attacks but their not nearly as strong as his magic. Next, lets get Eden drawn so we don't forget later. Let's also summon Doomtrain (don't boost it) to get Vit0 up on the boss so we can blast him down with physical attacks when we get to that stage.
| Strategy = So if you got the Odin GF you've already won this battle. Watch as Odin comes to cut down Seifer...wait, what just happened? Did Seifer just kill Odin? True Knight indeed. Well we now have 13 rounds before this battle automatically ends so start by mugging seifer (hopefully you'll get a Holy War!) and then work on drawings as much Aura magic from him as you can since this is the best chance you'll have to stock up on it. Once that's done you can just kill him (which is easy) or wait it out and watch Gilgamesh get revenge for Odin (and the interaction is pretty funny).}}

  +
His worst attacks consist of Meteor (which does 10 hits to random targets), Quake (which you should absorb), Gravija (which like Diablos is 75% of your HP), and Light Pillar (which instantly does 9999 damage to a single target). Regen and Shell will help counter Meteor and Gravija will knock you down into low HP so you can use Selphie's Full Cure limit to heal everyone. Light Pillar is just a pain so when someone gets hit with it Revive them with Alexander's ability or a Life/Full-Life spell and keep going. If people just get low you can also use double/triple Curaga spells to help.
Gilgamesh will now replace Odin as the "randomly summoned GF at the start of battles". Unfortunately he's a downgrade. Odin's summon rate was a 33/256 chance or (12.9%) where Gilgamesh's is 9/256 or (3.5%) chance at the START of a battle or, if nothing has happened for a few seconds, there is a 13/256 (or 5.1%) chance of him appearing. Also Odin killed anything he was summoned against (though he would never show up against bosses) where Gilgamesh only has a 63/256 (or 24.6%) for Zantetsuken (which will always miss against all bosses except one specific one coming up next that will always get you a game over). That being said he CAN show up during boss fights and use one of his other attacks which are Excalibur (65/256 or 25.4%) which deals major damage to all enemies, Masamune (64/256 or 25%) which deals moderate damage to all enemies, or Excalipoor (64/256 or 25%) which deals 1 damage to all enemies. As an interesting note Gilgamesh uses the same coding to determine its appearance rate as Angelo Search (and both can only appear once per battle). Also if Gilgamesh appears, Angelo will never search in the same battle.

  +
Now that that's done let's get into draw mode. This is the best chance to stock up on Ultima magic so between healing and reviving have people draw what they can. Note that for winning (if you DON'T MUG) you'll get 100 Ultima stones that you can turn into 100 ultima spells so you only need 200 between all your characters.
Alright, time to switch disks. Done with that? Now that Seifer's been beaten and the Sorceress' Knight taken out of play head back down to the bridge where you fought Mobile Type 8. On the right side a platform has fallen and you can now head across and up the ladder. Follow the linear path over the bridges and make use of the save point on the left side of one of the bridges since it's been a while (and a couple bosses) since we saved. Head down to fight the first boss of this disk (and one of the harder ones in the game).

  +
Once you're happy with what you've drawn it's time to take the boss down. There's two ways. The harder way is how the game probably expects you to do it. Between revives use Shina and other GFs and your best physical attacks/magic to beat him down.
For boss prep un-junction Brothers from Squall and put it on Rinoa and give her some HP junctioned along with the HP+80% and 40% and Vit+% if you can. Junction decent magic to her HP and Vit (transfer some if you need to...Regen is a decent option for HP or Vit). For your party junction Quake and/or Holy to your Elem-Def since it'll let you ignore or absorb her Quake and Holy spells during the fight.

  +
We're going to use the easy way: Limit Breaks. We've already seen how we can use limits after Gravija so next time before you Full-Cure get Squall's Renzokuken going and Zell's Duel. If you have too much HP and don't want to wait you can Triple cast Aura on everyone then let lose with high HP. Limit breaks are pretty broken in this game and using this strategy you can beat just about anything.}}

| Strategy = What makes this battle difficult is that Rinoa is being <s>absorbed</s> junctioned to Adel and if Rinoa dies it's game over. Some weird things can happen in this fight like Gilgamesh could appear and kill Rinoa to give you a game over, or you could choose to use Eden's Devour ability to eat Rinoa for a permanent +10 HP then get a game over. The difficulty from this battle comes in from being unprepared and if you haven't used Rinoa she might have really low HP and make this battle extremely tough. With the prep we've done it shouldn't be too bad.

Now that you've won you get to name your new GF, you get the Eden card, and the 100 Ultima stones I mentioned. If you don't have 100 Ultima for each character refine as many of these as you need to get them. Also, save at the save point (remember it's hidden) and equip Eden onto Zell.
As a note you **CAN** try to mug Rinoa for Megalixirs then heal her back up but if you do so do it with someone with low Str. I won't be since I have plenty and we can get more through refining cards if we need to.

Anyway, the goal is to keep Rinoa alive and healthy and kill Adel. This by itself presents some problems like AoE damage. That means GFs, spells like Ultima and Meteor, and Limit Breaks like Renzokuken are all out since their AoE might kill her. Adel will periodically absorb life from Rinoa and heal herself and will then use powerful magical spells. So...how do we deal with this?

Eden's attack is non-elemental and since the animation is a minute and a half long you can easily boost it to the max of 250. Also note that this attack can break the damage limit of 9999 and with it's limit of 60,000 damage and because it ignores a target's SPR it easily will be your strongest summon. He also learns a refine ability that lets you refine GF items from other items which we'll be using to fix up our final junctions. Finally, he has the interesting Devour ability that allows you to eat enemies when they're low on HP and if you eat certain enemies you'll gain permanent stat boosts. While that can be nice for maxed out characters I've always found it better to just level with the Bonus abilities on. The animation is pretty humorous though so give it a try sometime.
Well we already bought ourselves quite a bit of breathing room by junctioning Rinoa so instead of the ~900 HP she'd probably have without Junctions she has a lot more which gives us some breathing room. Next you can draw the Regen spell from Rinoa and cast it on her to help keep her HP up. Shell on the party and Rinoa will also help lessen the magical barrage Adel throws your way. When the game warns you she's charging up it means she'll be using Ultima so make sure you're healed. Other than that just attack her (Adel) with physical attacks or single target magic and throw an occasional cure spell towards Rinoa to make sure she's healthy and you should be able to win.}}

With that we get some more story and Rinoa inherits Adel's sorceress powers in addition to Edea's powers that she already has. We have some scenes that show the plan happening which has a cool cutscene. Watch it and when you're in control again you're in a familiar room with a save point. When you touch it more will appear but you can still use the original (and you should!). With that we've got some fights coming but before you save be sure to move Brothers back to Squall and make sure you're prepped. Side Questing[]

Alright, we're still side-questing, and have most of them out of the way. Next up, ultimate weapons!

Ultimate Weapons[]

Lion Heart[]

Alright, you should have the Adamantine from when you stole it back in FH. The pulse ammmo is refined using the Ammo-RF ability and the Card Mod ability. If you Modify Elnoyle cards (10 into 1) you'll get Energy Crystals and each one refines into 10 pulse ammo, so you'll need 2 energy crystals. If you need these and don't have the cards, there's another way to farm these. We'll need two for Squall's weapon, 2 for Rinoa's, and 4 for Quistis'. You can find a great place to get these in the city of Esthar.

Save the Queen[]

You should already have these from fighting Malboros when we were getting Doomtrain (see above). If not head back to the forest and fight more Malboros. The sharp spikes are easily gotten by refining the Grand Mantis cards, or finding the Grand Mantis in the Centra Ruins and mugging them from them. You should also already have the energy Crystals (if not see above). Relatively easy to get, so use Junk Shop to grab it.

Ehrgeiz[]

You should have the fury fragment from fighting the blue dragons above. If not, go back and mug them for this. Dragon skin can be dropped from Anaconduar enemies which can be found in the forest just west of where Galbadis Garden used to be (a bit south and west from Dollet). Head into the forest and kill a couple of these to get the dragon skin.

Strange Vision[]

Exeter[]

Shooting Star[]

Save, and then get ready to go find a couple more items. You should already have the energy Crystals (see above). The windmills you should have from earlier in the game, but if not there's birdlike creatures right around the Tomb of the Unknown King that you can steal them from or that will drop them. You can also get them by refining your Abyss Worm cards. You should have a bunch of Regen Rings from fighting but if you don't then the torama and Turtapod enemies in and around Esthar drop them and you can steal the from the torama.

Queen of Cards[]

  • Where
    • All over
  • Difficulty
    • Hard
  • Rewards
    • Excellent

Well, I hope you like playing cards, because we will be a lot in the near future. So, you may have met the queen of cards in the Balamb Station at some Point during the game but until we obtained an easy way to get anywhere in he world, it's not a quest you want to undertake. Now that we have the Ragnarok it's doable, though depending on the rules scattered throughout the world, possibly very difficult. If you've been spreading the random rule around, it will be hard. So, here's how this works: Everytime you win or lose a rare card to the Queen of Cards, she'll move locations. There are 8 locations she can be at.

  • Galbadia (The Galbadia Hotel in Deling City)
  • FH (On the Train Tracks just to the right of the mayor's house in FH)
  • Esthar (Presidentil Palace)
  • Trabia (Hotel in Shumi Village)
  • Centra (Hotel in Winhill)
  • Dollet (The Pub)
  • Balamb (By the Train Station)
  • Far Away (Lunar Gate's Concourse Area)

In each place she will only head to certain other places, as seen below:

Current Location Moving To
Balamb Dollet (37.5%), Deling City (62.5%)
Deling City Balamb (12.5%), Dollet (12.5%), Winhill (12.5%), FH (62.5%)
Dollet Balamb (37.5%), Deling City (62.5%)
Shumi Village Balamb (25%), Dollet (50%), Lunar Gate (25%)
Winhill Deling City (37.5%), Dollet (37.5%), FH (25%)
FH Dollet (12.5%), Winhill (25%), Esthar (62.5%)
Esthar Dollet (12.5%), Shumi Village (25%), FH (12.5%), Lunar Gate (50%)
Lunar Gate Random Area (Gives no clues)

  • Minimog-Kiros. It's in Deling City and the man in black across from the Junk Shop has it.
  • Sacred-Irvine. It's in FH and Flo (the Mayor's wife) has it.
  • Chicobo-Chubby Chicobo. The student in Balamb Garden (Parked at FH) on the bench by the library entrance has it.
  • Alexander-Doomtrain. Timber Pub owner (on the right) has it. Note: This guys is very stingy with the Doomtrain card but will play it eventually.
  • Doomtrain-Phoenix. Esthar, Presidential Palace, Presidential Assistant in the lab where we met Odine originally has it.

As a final note I have seen comments that you can skip this entirely and as long as you've done the CC Members quest we did a couple pages ago all of these "unique" cards will be in their inventories once we get to Disk 4. I haven't tested it myself but I thought I would note it here.

Deep Sea Research Center[]

  • With Zell
    • 2F - use 1 RSP.
    • 3F - use 1 RSP.
    • 4F - use 1 RSP.
    • 5F - use 1 RSP.
    • 6F - Zell can punch the door and open it for you.
  • Without Zell
    • 2F - use 2 RSP.
    • 3F - use 4 RSP. Use the computer for an Esuna Draw Point and it will recharge 7 RSPs.
    • 4F - use 1 RSP.
    • 5F - use 1 RSP.
    • 6F - use 4 RSP.

Now we're down in the bottom area and you should have at least 10 RSPs left. You might as well un-equip ENC-None since all the fights here are triggered. Also make sure you have Move-Find so you can find the save point just before the boss. Here's what you'll be fighting as you go down:

  • Area 1 - Tri-Face.
  • Area 2 - Imp and Grendel. Be warned Imp has a finishing spell Holy.
  • Area 3 - Behemoth. You can Mug it for a barrier for Quistis Blue Magic Mighty Guard if you don't have it yet. There's a hidden Triple Draw Point near the half-visible statue so draw some if you need it.
  • Area 4 - Ruby Dragon. There's a hidden Ultima draw point here near what looks like a curved gate. If you're having issues use Meltdown or Doomtrain then physical attacks or put him to sleep and use magic.
  • Area 5 - Iron Giants.

Boss Battle: Ultima Weapon
FF8 Ultima Weapon
Level Range: 1-100
HP: 51,100 - 160,000
Draw: Regen, Dispel, Ultima, Eden
Steal:Three Stars (Don't do it!)
Weakness:N/A
Resistance:N/A
Difficulty: 5/6

First off let's get your defenses by summoning Cerberus for Double/Triple on your characters then with Haste and Shell (which is easy with Double/Triple).

Once you're happy with what you've drawn it's time to take the boss down. There's two ways. The harder way is how the game probably expects you to do it. Between revives use Shina and other GFs and your best physical attacks/magic to beat him down.

We're going to use the easy way: Limit Breaks. We've already seen how we can use limits after Gravija so next time before you Full-Cure get Squall's Renzokuken going and Zell's Duel. If you have too much HP and don't want to wait you can Triple cast Aura on everyone then let lose with high HP. Limit breaks are pretty broken in this game and using this strategy you can beat just about anything.

Now that you've won you get to name your new GF, you get the Eden card, and the 100 Ultima stones I mentioned. If you don't have 100 Ultima for each character refine as many of these as you need to get them. Also, save at the save point (remember it's hidden) and equip Eden onto Zell.

Guardian Force - Eden Eden

Order I learn abilities in:
  • Boost
  • GFAbl Med-RF
  • SumMag+10%
  • SumMag+20%
  • SumMag+30%
  • SumMag+40%
  • GFHP+10%
  • GFHP+20%
  • GFHP+30%
  • GFHP+40%
  • Darkside
  • Mad Rush
  • Expendx3-1
  • Luck+50%

Zell gets this GF since he needs the Spd, Eva, and Hit junction abilities.
