Continuing down the river

Lete

I was looking for a place to put this one...

We join Terra, Edgar, and Banon as they continue their quest down the Lete River to Narshe. Remember the possible monster sets from Part 4? Well, they're the same here, and you'll have a chance to fight a Set 2 and two Set 1s. Since Sabin is gone, you can get more EXP per battle. But it won't last long, as you'll land in the "Lete Lake" near Narshe (Lete Lake? Why, you ask? Because alliteration is fun). Anyway, go into the mountain pass to enter Narshe.

Once again, the front door is closed to you (but the scene is still worth watching). Anyway, remember how Locke took Terra out of the mines? Go all the way to the left of the entrance to where that place was. Edgar will then open the entrance to the mine. In the first area, you'll just fight Were-Rats and Repo Men, which at this point are very weak. Go through the passage and you'll be on a cliff to the west of town. Enter the next mine. Here, you'll face two new enemies: the 1st Class and the Wild Rat, which are just upgrades of the Repo Man and Were Rat, respectively. You may be freaked by their large groups, but Edgar's Autocrossbow will take care of them.

The next room is a security checkpoint. You'll see a shining Save Point-like thing go around the room. You have to follow its path exactly. One screw up and you'll be surrounded by lights. Press A when the yellow light is in front of you and you go on but, if you're caught hitting a white bluish light, you'll be taken OUT of the Temple and it will be Firem'n Ed's turn to enter and try his luck (CSM, where are you going here?) oh, I was just making a bad LOTHT jo.. (what about the walkthrough? The WALKTHROUGH!!!) Fine, you caught me. Anyway, if you hit the bluish whitish light, you'll have to fight a battle. It will either be against a pair of Dark Sides or a Dark Side, a Spectre, and three Rinns. After the fight, you will start over. Use the AutoCrossbow to win the fights. You should try and fight at least the Dark Side/Spectre/Rinn battle for reasons I will tell you in a later part of the walkthrough.

Anyway, after the security checkpoint, you'll be in a familiar area. This is the place where the Narshe Guards cornered Terra. For now, I recommend going down the first flight of stairs you come to. Now, you'll be in the room where Locke and the Moogles fought to save Terra. Head north into the Moogle cave! Listen to the special Moogle theme music here and enjoy it. Head west and you'll find a chest with a Rune Edge. This powerful sword will always do a critical hit, but it will cost 10 MP per physical attack, so be aware of this. Anyway, exit the room by climbing the stairs and go south, making sure not to open any chests. Use the Save Point and exit the southeast door. Cross the bridge over the town of Narshe and you'll be back in Arvis' house. Funny how Arvis never formally introduces himself; the game just kept calling him "old man" at the beginning of the game, but now magically you know his name is Arvis. No proper introductions, how rude! You'll also learn that Narshe has decided to remain neutral during the war, and Arvis is the only Returner in town. After the cutscene, you'll be back at the scenario selection screen. Save your game and choose Sabin's scenario.
