Revision as of 09:52, 27 November 2021

It's Saturday, which means Doctor Who is on tonight :3 I love me some Doctor Who.

You all good? Good. It's time for Part 20 of Apoqliphoth 's walkthrough to Final Fantasy V!

Great Forest of Moore

Enemies

Items

Blue Magic

Lilliputian Lyric

Enemies: Mini Magician
Location: Great Forest of Moore
MP: 5

MiniMagician-ffv-ios

Effect: Inflicts Mini on one enemy.

It's another token status ailment spell. If you're having trouble defeating a random enemy (though I don't know why you would), you might be able to inflict it with Mini. Or it might be immune. In games that have no effective way to reveal enemies' weaknesses, these kinds of spells are pretty pointless.

WoL in Forest of Moore

Approach the gap in the hedges and the Guardian Branch will open the way. The gimmick here is that you can only see clearly in a radius around your character. Head north to find a chest containing 2,500 Gil. Head east to find a tree with a diamond-shaped hole in its roots, as well as a chest containing an Ether. Examine the hole in the tree and go through the revealed path.

In the next area, head north and a little bit east, then north between a hedge and a tree on the right to find a chest containing 4,900 Gil. Now go east and north, then between two trees to find a Phoenix Down. Speaking of down, go that way, then east and north. When you can, go east and north again to find a hidey-hole containing 9,500 Gil. Go west and north to locate the next tree with a hole in it.

In the third area, there's a Cottage to your right. Head east to find a Goliath Tonic. North of here is a different-looking Save Point between two columns of flowers. Northwest of here is an Elixir. Further north is a chest containing a Morning Star. Make sure you get this now.

Mog in Burning Forest

To the west, there's a scene where Exdeath starts burning down the forest. So many dick moves...walk around for a bit as the forest casually burns around you. Ignore the treasure chest for now. Eventually a Moogle will pop out of the ground, so jump down the hole. Use the healing spring and wait until the Moogle moves out of the way. I imagine this section is the bane of speedrunners.

Outside, grab the treasure chest. It was originally an Aegis Shield, but the fire has turned it into a Flame Shield. Nice attention to detail there. Head west. To your north is a chest containing Ash. I wonder what was in there before the fire...further west, past the white rubble, is another chest. This one contains a Flametongue. You can exit the forest to the south should you wish to heal and/or save. Head north and enter the gap in the hedges, and the Guardian Branch will grant you access to the Guardian Tree.

Inside, you'll be attacked by...things.

Boss Battle: Crystal x4

Level: 77
HP: 7,777
MP: 10,000
ABP: 15

Steal: Elixir
Drops: Ash

Weakness: -
Immunity: Ice, Poison, Holy (All); Lightning (North); Lightning (South)
Absorbs: Fire (North); Earth (South); Water (East); Wind (West)

Difficulty: Medium
Strategy:

This is a weird battle. None of them has a weakness and they all use powerful, party-wide attacks at low HP. Thus, your best bet is to take them out one by one. Use -aga spells and regular melee attacks here. Rapid Fire is risky and unreliable when you to focus on a particular enemy from a group. Ninjas with Dual Wield are useful, especially if you managed to steal any Twin Lances from the Objet d'Art.

IOS Galuf Portrait3
Exdeath-ffv-ios-portrait

So it turns out that we just destroyed the guardians of the seals keeping the crystals hidden. Wait, crystals? Yeah, Galuf's world's crystals are all kept together inside the Guardian Tree of Moore. Exdeath wants them for some reason, and uses them to attack the party.

Krile comes along to rescue the party once again, but Exdeath starts attacking her instead. Galuf steps up to protect his granddaughter in an epic moment reminiscent of Final Fantasy IV, where Tellah defeats Golbez. Unfortunately, the outcome is identical. Godspeed, old man.

After the scene, wait for the tree to open once more. Krile calls the Wind Drake and the party leaves the Great Forest of Moore. It's almost time to take down Exdeath. But first, return to civilisation (whichever one you like, but Castle Bal seems appropriate, plus ABP grinding). See you next time, huskies.
