You know something? FFT is always going to be my favorite strategy RPG but I have recently found another jewel of the Genre: Valkyrie Profile: Covenant of the Plume for the Nintendo DS. This game has what makes FFT awesome: A great hero, a great story and a simple but enjoyable gameplay. But again, this is just a TenzaZangetsu rant.
Dycedarg is talking with the Knight Templar, Loffrey. Loffrey is insinuate that Dyce killed Duke Larg while the man of House Beowulve is denying that. Dyce even claims that he could destroy the Templars like ants, bold, I must say. Than the Templar drops the bomb: Dycedarg is the responsible of Barbaneth's death. <sarcasm>Alright, this was a shock! The game never gives any sign of this!</sarcasm>.
Loffrey leaves the room after giving Dyce a Zodiac Stone and Zalbaag was listening all along. This plot just keeps getting better and better.
The next place is another multi-battle zone, you need to be prepared. Ramza needs to know every Dark Knight attack, Balthier needs to know "Barrage" and all the "Shot" skills. Beowulf can learn "Chicken" and "Drain" as the most importants. You can teach to your Physical units some of the skill set of the Dancer class (the female ones of course). You can teach some Bard moves too to boost your Mages' Magic. Besides those things, I think you're fine.
This place is a multi-battle zone. Have a backup File, as usual.
|Battle Number: 50|
|Celia and Lettie|
|Location||Limberry Castle Gate|
|Foes||Celia, Lettie, 4 Reavers|
X X X X X X X X X X front
|Objective||Defeat All Enemies (but actually, you only have to kill Celia or Lettie)|
|Terrain||Grass, Stone, Sand, Man-made|
|Geomancy||Tanglevine, Contortion, Sandstorm, Tremor.|
|Recommended Level||Level 40.|
Ramza comes to a lonely Limberry but then the Lucavi Babies appear to fight us. It is weird but I never really understand which one is Celia and which one is Lettie, odd.
This fight is very easy if you come at level 40. You only need to defeat oe of the Lucavi Babies to win and since Ramza is close enough to them, you can win with ease. But in case you want to kill all enemies, you may have a problem. If you remember our last encouter with this two girls, you'll remember how strong they are. Remember "Suffocate"? It's back and is more dangerous than ever. "Shadowbind" can stop your best units like Balthier or the Thunder God. The Reavers are also one of the strongest species in this game. They are right there with the Behemoths and the Red Chocobos.
Your party needs to be fast here to win. Balthier and the Thunder God with the Excalibur are going to kill those Reavers while two other units go to help Ramza. I strongly suggest Agrias and Beowulf since they have high attack power and delaying abilities. "Chicken" is really helpful in this series of battles and to help you steal equipment if that's your thing. Send your Dragoon/Thief to steal the girls' equipment after they get hitted by "Chicken". Ramza can use "Ultima", "Shout" and "Crushing Blow" while the backups come to help him. If you really hate yourself and want to kill every enemy here, this are my best advices.
The Marquis Elmdore is talking to the leader of the Templars, Folmarv. After the defeat of Cuchulain and Belias, the Sephiroth look-alike is worry that a human could defeat the all-mighty Lucavis. You should be afraid, you Lucavi guys were my Summons in FFXII. They also found the vessel for Adrammelech (Dycedarg) and Alma seems to be the chosen body to be the vessel of the Lucavis' Leader, the High Seraph. Cool name, uh?
Celia and Lettie arrive there, telling about Ramza's arrive. The very Marquis Elmdore will finish the job he started at Riovanes while Folmarv goes to find some thing call "Necrohol".
|Battle Number: 51|
|Fragile Shell of Flesh|
|Location||Limberry Castle Keep|
|Foes||Elmdore, Celia, Lettie (2 Ultima Demons may appear)|
X X X X X X X X X X X X front
|Objective||Defeat Marquis Elmdore|
|Recommended Level||Level 40.|
Alright, here we stand. Ramza and his party against Elmdore and his sexy demom chicks. Lucky bastard.
This fight works in a very easy manner. You only have to kill Elmdore to win and that's that, piece of cake. In case you want to kill everyone, you are in a very tough spot. You already know everything about the Lucavi girls and you should be afraid but Elmdore is also there and you can't ignore him, either. He has all the "Laido" skills of a Samurai with a different name. He also has "Master Teleport", it works in the same way as your regular "Teleport", only that it will always work, unlike the regular "Teleport" which may not work all the time. So he can hit you anywhere and you can't hide from him. "Vampire" is a deadly attack that will turn the target into a vampire and you will not be able to control it that way and they will attack your other units, turning them into vampires, too.
Your party will have to follow the same strategy as the one of the last battle. Balthier and the Thunder God will probably have the first two turns to attack, send them to kill one of the Lucavi Babies, Celia/Lettie won't last anything to hurt you. Ramza with Agrias and your third unit (I strngly suggest Beowulf or your Dragoon/Thief) can kill the other Celia/Lettie alive. When you kill one of them, they will turn into a Ultima Demon, a stronger version of the Archaeodaemons. They have a nasty set of attacks but they are not as hard as the Lucavi Babies. A good attack from the Thunder God or Balthier's "Barrage" would be enough. And no, you can't steal Elmdore's equipment, as amazing it might be. In the PSX version you can but you're playing the PSP one so no. Once you defeat him, he'll run away to the depths of Limberry.
We will continue in the next page, where the very scourge of my soul comes back (no, it's not FFX-2).
