It's finally time to end it all, the quest, the walkthrough, the pointless mindless annoying game! Welcome to the final chapter in the Final Fantasy Mystic Quest walkthrough!

The Final Dungeon

First off, the music for Doom Castle is pretty good for the Super NES, so here's a YouTube vid of it. It's final dungeon music you can respect.

Anyway, Doom Castle is split into five sections, the first four each following the gimmick of one of the four main dungeons. As such, this final walkthrough will be split into four sections. So, let's get to work.

Earth Floor

Follow the path left and up. If you step onto the sand, it'll carry you back to the entrance. Step onto it and walk right, reaching a small area where you can see a red chest. This is the Aegis Shield, the strongest shield in the game. Now head back to the entrance and follow the path left, up and all the way right. Go down the stairs to the sand until you're stopped by two skulls. Dragon Claw to the hook and go up the stairs. The enemies here are a strange mix of everything you've seen in the game, so be prepared. Dragon Claw over the ledges and climb down the wall. Here, turn left, blow up the skull, and Dragon Claw to the hook. Head up to the boss.

Hm, Skullrus Rex, this guy looks familiar. Yup, the Four Fiends are back! Skullrus can hit for 900 damage with Twinfang if it hits twice, so it's important to take out his Shadow buddies first. He can also use Quake to hit both for 400+. But his HP is laughable, I beat him with four casts of Flare and no spells from Kaeli. You can also use the Dragon Claw to inflict Instant Death on him. Save afterwards and go up the stairs. You're back in the Focus Tower. Go up the stairs, use the Sky Coin, and enter Doom Castle's upper floors. Enter the door in front of you.

Water Floor

This place looks familiar. Can we pick up a pattern kiddies? Kill the left Shadow and point the switch with your sword to open the door. Outside, hop left and hit the switch, then head inside, kill the Squidite and hit the switch it was guarding. Go outside and right of the entrance, and hop up. Go left and hit the switch, then go right. Take the right path, hit the switch, then take the left path the Squidite is guarding. Up here, kill the Freezer Crab and hit the switch.

Go back the entrance and Dragon Claw right across the gap. Follow the path up, right, down and right to a door. Hit the switch inside the room and take the left exit up. Hit the switch outside and then go down, and hop left. Follow the pretty linear path until you go inside a door and fight a Freezer Crab. Go past it outside, Dragon Claw right, and go up.

Stone Golem can use Instant Death and can hit for 800+, but that's about it. He's resistant to fire, so bombard him with White. He dies quite easily. Now go back outside, Dragon Claw down, then go back to the entrance. Take the stairs up and enter the next door.

Fire Floor

Head right and hop up across the rock, then hop left to fight a Stheno. Hop down to the Cerberus and Dragon Claw left. Hop up the rocks up to an Iflyte, and follow the path right, down and left. Dragon Claw right, head up past the Stheno and hop up to the boss.

As you might expect, Twinhead Wyvern resists fire, so use White. He can paralyze and poison you and hit for 700+ damage, so he's much stronger than the first two bosses. Still, bombard him with White and he'll go down with patience. Afterwards, Dragon Claw left, go down and Dragon Claw past the Cerberus to reach the entrance. Go up the stairs to the next area.

Air Floor

Be careful here, you can fall off to the Fire Floor and have to start over. Go up, right and down. Up the stairs, kill the Cerberus and go up. Go left, fighting a Chimera on the way, and kill the Thantos and climb down. Go up and right through the tunnel. Go down out of the tunnel, enter the next tunnel and take the first exit up to a Cerberus. Go up the stairs and follow the linear path to the boss.

Zuh is almost a carbon copy of Pazuzu, his attacks are the same, just stronger. He hits for 600+, but that's about it. Just use the same strategy you used for Pazuzu and remember to watch out for PsychShield. He also uses PsychShield on you, which does 1 damage but has no other effects I noticed. When he's dead, go outside and climb to the final doorway.

In the large golden room, approach the pedestal with the statue of you, and watch the (very) small scene. Collect 25 Cure Potions, Heal Potions, Arrows and Seeds from the chests. Use them to heal, then enter the large doors at the top of the room.

Final Boss

Alright, this is *IT*. This is the Dark King, the final boss. Thus, he is the game's final chance for it to make sense, the plot, the reasons for the crystals, the Fiends, the whole damn game, this is its last chance to make some sort of sense. I'll take another plot dump if it means that the plot of the game can finally come together and be coherent. It isn't hard, look at this -

"You are too late, the power of the land in the crystals has been brought here by the Vile Four. Soon this power will transfer to me, and my dominion over the world may begin."

See? I pulled that out of my ass, how hard was that? Or this even:

"Each of the four you met was atuned to one of the crystals. With their assistance you freed the crystals and their power. The Vile Four were a needed sacrifice for the crystals to reach their true power. I thank you for your assistance, but your role in my plan is over."

There, typed that up in less than a minute. So, Mystic Quest, this is your last chance to show the slightest bit of quality. Show me what you've got.

It fails miserably. Dark King tells you you will serve him, and reveals the ancient prophecy of a hero was a rumor started by him years ago. Then the fight begins. Grrrrrr.....rage....building....must...restrain.....

AAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGG!!!!!!!!!! This game SUCKS! My hatred is back full-force, this game makes no sense, the plot is dumb, the battle system is weak, the bosses are pathetic, Mystic Quest should have all its copies throw into a black hole along with anyone stupid enough to like it! Alright, that's it, my rage will not be denied, I need to kill something NOW! And Dark King, you're it!

In his initial form, Dark King's attacks are as pathetic as his villainy. Bombard him with Flare and White until he transforms into a multi-armed humanoid with some six weapons. Now he has elemental attacks and can heal himself. Eventually he transforms into giant spider, then a giant spider with tentacles. Both have the same attacks, including the highly damaging Spider Kids, Golden Web with Paralyzes, and the attacks Mega-White and Mega-Flare, guess what they do.

He's pathetic. Use the same strategies as before, Flare and White and Cure and Life. And, as a hilarious note, you (not Phoebe, just you) can cast Cure on him to do over 10,000 damage! With that, you can kill him in a few turns. Slay this absolutely pathetic excuse of a final boss. Wait, could it be? Turns out that old man who was helping you this whole game was the fifth Crystal of Light!

Alright, it's the ending sequence, but it, like everything I covered in Parts 1-7 and 9 of this walkthrough (not Part 8) is lame and boring. So as a substitute reward, allow me to regail you with a folksong from the old country - my room. Sing along kiddies, with a tale of woe, sadness, despair, and really lousy RPG games.

Now dear children gather round,
the game has reached its end.
I warned you all how much it sucked.
And now this message I send.

I loved writing this walkthrough,
but oh, I hated playing the game.
And that reason quite simply, is
it's the all time champion of lame.

I'll never play Mystic Quest again,
my hatred is just too deep.
And if I ever meet anyone who likes this game,
I'll smother them in their sleep.

We love you London, and hate you Mystic Quest! GOOD NIGHT!
