A Vision Card is a set of equippable items found exclusively in both Final Fantasy Brave Exvius and War of the Visions: Final Fantasy Brave Exvius.

Description[]

A Vision Card are a complementary equipment to more traditional equippable gear and has its own slot. Vision cards provide with an array of possible different boosts to the player units, ranging from boosting stats, resistances to status ailments or elements, or even bolstering certain effects. The means of acquisition vary between games, however.

Vision Cards typically depict certain events or allude to some particular characters or even monsters, while also offering some brief descriptions or expanding on the respective lore at times providing pieces of information not directly stated in the games' main narrative.

Appearances[]

Final Fantasy Brave Exvius[]

Vision Cards appear in Brave Exvius with the arrival of the Neo Vision rarity. Vision Cards provide raw stat boosts (to some not necessarily all stats) and some additional stat bonuses (i.e. ATK +20%). Vision Cards start at Lvl 1 and can be upgraded to Lvl 10, increasing the benefits and even unlocking some additional effects. Only Neo Vision rarity units can equip Vision Cards.

Vision Cards can be acquired primordially through summoning a Neo Vision rarity unit or by performing EX Awakenings on a Neo Vision rarity unit. Vision Cards obtained by summoning a Neo Vision unit belong in a common pool and the player may get any one of those cards at random. Vision Cards obtained through EX Awakening a unit can only be obtained by following this procedure and cannot be obtained through summoning a Neo Vision unit. Units that can awaken to Neo Vision rarity (Neo Vision Awakenable) do not yield any unique Vision Card upon awakening to Neo Vision or through subsequent EX awakenings. The Global version of the game provides a mild exception to this rule by providing the "Metal Gigantuar's Here!" card which is purely EXP fodder for Vision Cards.

Often, these unit attached Vision Card have some limitations for some of the bonuses they can provide. Cloud Strife's Neo Vision variant provides the "Mad Dash" card whose Lvl 10 effect only activates when equipped by a unit from Final Fantasy VII.

Vision Cards are depicted through some basic pixel art animation with a brief description of the events alluded in it. Some Vision Cards can be obtained through other extraordinary means like in-game gifts or promotions.

War of the Visions: Final Fantasy Brave Exvius[]

Vision Cards make their actual debut in this game. Vision Cards are one of the two possible outcomes a player can obtain alongside Units whenever performing a Summon. Accordingly, Vision Cards have different rarities N, R, SR, MR and UR with increasing power but diminishing chances to obtain them. Obtaining the Vision Card of a certain monster will often yield its Esper as well for the player to use and develop. The Cactuar Card for example will yield the Cactuar Esper. More classic Espers like Ifrit, Shiva or Ramuh are also obtained this way.

Vision Cards are equippable in an exclusive slot on each unit with only one being equippable at any given time and different from the Esper slot. They provide raw stats boosts (the most common being HP, ATK and MAG) and carry two different sets of effects, Unit Effects that only affect the equipped unit and Party Effects that affect the entire party (be it the player's party or in Multi where players collaborate). Party Effects can affect the entire party cumulatively, but the effects do not stack. Case in point, if one unit has HP +20% and another has ATK +10%, the party will gain both effects. If they were ATK +20% and ATK +10% instead, only the biggest gain is considered, therefore players are encouraged to acquire multiple Vision Cards and change them as the situation demands for it. It should be noted that the raw stat boosts the Vision Cards provide only work for the equipped unit, they do not transfer to the party. Vision Card effects are typically positive, but some negative effects may also be present to serve as a balancing factor. Unlike Brave Exvius there is no restriction in equipping a Vision Card dependant to a unit's rarity, although newer Vision Cards have effects dependant on the unit's Main Job, Element or just tied to a specific unit.

Vision Cards have levels of their own and must be leveled in order to increase the card's potency by gaining larger raw stat boosts or more powerful effects or decreasing the negatives. To level a Vision Card the player must use Growth Eggs which yield differing amounts of EXP depending on their rarities. Growth Eggs can be acquired through certain quests but also can be bought in the shops. Gil is also necessary when infusing Growth Eggs into a Vision Card. The overall costs and difficulty of leveling them is also dependant on the Vision Card's rarity. Like units, Vision Cards also have Lvl caps that must be expanded using the respective Vision Card's shards along rarity specific materials. It should be noted that a Vision Card and an associated Esper have different growths unrelated to one another. Maximizing a Vision Card typically takes far longer than a unit so they are a more long term objective, and while certainly incredibly powerful at their top Lvls it is still nonetheless encouraged for the player to diversify.

Vision Cards are portrayed through static but more detailed artwork. They often expand the game's lore by providing additional information about the characters themselves or certain events surrounding them.
