Lost Chapter: The Power of Valor[]

Cater joins the warriors of light after they encounter her in an abandoned palace. She leads the search for a torsion that had opened up in the area. Vincent accompanies Cater as she closes the torsion. In an unsolicited comment, he commends on her talent and strength, but critiques her hubris and warns her that it could lead to her downfall, which frustrates her.

As Rem and King try to temper Vincent's comment to help Cater to better understand him, Galuf notes that she and her compatriot, Yuffie, are in many ways alike. Yuffie is upset by the implication, which in turn offends Cater, and the two yell at each other while Galuf notes that his point had just been proven. He calls on Vincent to act as a mentor to the them, an offer he flatly refuses. When Yuffie demands to know if she had ever been as annoying as Cater is, it is met with an awkward silence. Vincent and the others walk away, leaving Cater and Yuffie to themselves.

Allusions[]

  • Vincent's recruitment in Imber Manor references his original recruitment in Shinra Manor in Final Fantasy VII.
    • "The Nightmare Begins" is also used as the location's background theme.
  • Vincent is paired with Prompto for his Force Mode and is Laguna's partner:
    • All three are gunners and have some former affiliation with the enemy back in their home worlds. Vincent is a former Turk, Prompto is Verstael's son and part MT and Laguna is a former Galbadian soldier.
    • Vincent and Prompto are both victims of experiments and favor handguns over other firearms.
  • Vincent's victory pose, where he turns around with a flick of his cape, is likely a reference to how he exits most boss fights in Dirge of Cerberus.
  • Vincent's Burst Ability, A Finale Chaotic, makes numerous references to Dirge of Cerberus:
    • It is named after the final stage and cutscene of the game.
    • Vincent becomes Chaos in his Dirge of Cerberus appearance and summons the Death Penalty much like in the final chapter of the game.
    • The initial shots allude to the "Battle over Midgar" scene, where Vincent evades and shoots at Omega Bulbs.
    • The final explosion alludes to when Vincent clashes into Omega Weapon, destroying it.
    • Vincent's Burst weapon, Cerberus, is his primary gun throughout the game.
