Veil (ベール, Bēru?) is a recurring positive status effect in the Final Fantasy series, primarily found within the Lightning Saga.

Veil halves the chances of status ailments from landing. Veil can be cast through the spell of the same name learned by the Synergist role, or through the Aegisol shroud outside of battle.

Auto-Veil Passive ability Bestows Veil at the start of a battle.
Critical: Veil Passive ability Automatically bestows Veil once HP hits Critical status. Functions only once per battle.

Goblinhancement Enemy ability May bestow Bravery, Protect, Shell, Veil, and Vigilance on target.
Manadrive Veil Enemy ability Bestows Veil on target.
Power Spritz Enemy ability Bestows Haste, Shell, Veil and Vigilance onto the caster.
Version Upgrade Enemy ability Bestows Bravery, Faith, Protect, Shell, Veil, and Vigilance on the user.

Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII[]

Veil increases resistance to status ailments by 90%. It can be bestowed by using a Remedy, Mega Remedy, Phoenix Down, Veil Potion, or Crusader's Potion. Equipping a Thorn of Aggression will cast Veil at the start of every battle, at the cost of 5% of Lightning's max HP.

A veil is an article of clothing or cloth hanging that is intended to cover some part of the head or face, or an object of some significance. It is especially associated with women and sacred objects.
