Final Fantasy Wiki

Veil is a defensive status effect in Final Fantasy XIII that increases resistance to status ailments by 50%. This includes instant Death, but not Doom, Dispel, or Provoke. The effect stacks with passive abilities that improve status resistance, and passives that shorten ailment duration can also be used to help ailments wear off faster.

Hope is the party's main defensive Synergist in the early game and learns Veil the earliest.

Ailments may still stick when under Veil and are best removed with Esuna or other means.
