Vayne Novus is the second form of Vayne in the final battle on board the Sky Fortress Bahamut in Final Fantasy XII. After being initially defeated, Vayne uses nethicite to transform into Vayne Novus and takes on the party again. Vayne Novus is fought alongside multiple Sephiras. Gabranth supports the party in battle.

After Vayne Novus is defeated, he uses the absorbed energies of Venat to fuse pieces of the Bahamut unto his body, becoming The Undying.

Battle[]

Vayne Novus will initially use physical attacks, and can restore his HP with Azure Vortice and Crimson Vortice. He has three cinematic attacks: Contempt, Inviolable Will, and Tree of Sephira, the latter two dealing damage to all characters in range. Even if all the Sephira swords are destroyed, Vayne Novus can still execute his cinematic attacks; the swords will not disappear when destroyed, rather, they will surround Vayne.

When 50% of his HP is drained, a cutscene will follow, and Vayne Novus will regain his positive statuses and negate all magick attacks for two minutes. He will also switch to using elemental spells. Once his HP drops further, he will use Limit Break and execute both physical and magick attacks.

Strategy[]

The party should quickly dispel Vayne Novus's positive status effects, and cast some positive statuses on the player party. Because the Sephira move quickly, they are handled well with any ranged or area-of-effect attacks. Gabranth has a high block rate, but is not very powerful on his own and he will only heal himself once.
