- Being a variety of steeling draped in crimson fur. The most vampyric of their ilk, obtaining sustenance from other creatures' blood alone. Making their abode in magicite mines and other darkened places, they feed on beasts and miners alike. Because of this, they are renowned for spreading disease, and depriving many a mine of its entire workforce in the space of days.

Etymology[edit | edit source]
Vampire bats are bats whose food source is blood.
Vampir is German for "vampire". Vampires are mythological or folkloric beings who subsist by feeding on the life essence, generally in the form of blood, of living creatures. Although vampiric entities have been recorded in many cultures, and may go back to "prehistoric times", the term vampire was not popularized until the early 18th century.
