Description
Vampire Fang is a battle item in Final Fantasy VII that casts Drain. This is the only way for the player to use the series's recurring Drain spell in Final Fantasy VII, though some enemies will use it against the player party.

Mechanics[]
Using the Vampire Fang does not take the user's stats into account in determining damage. The final damage is calculated as :

Use[]
Vampire Fang is a very weak battle item, draining little HP from the target. Therefore, it is advised to not use the item as there are many other methods of healing HP. In addition, using the Vampire Fang against an undead enemy will reverse the healing into damage to the user. To gain HP while dealing damage, the player can instead use HP Absorb Materia. Vampire Fang may have some niche use on the Battle Square.
Etymology[]
Vampires are mythological or folkloric beings who subsist by feeding on the life essence, generally in the form of blood, of living creatures. Although vampiric entities have been recorded in many cultures, and may go back to "prehistoric times", the term vampire was not popularized until the early 18th century.
