Valnain is a location from Final Fantasy XIV. It is not visitable in gameplay but appears in cutscenes during the Save the Queen: Blades of Gunnhildr storyline.
Valnain is a port city located in southern Dalmasca, on the shore of the Golmore Jungle. After Dalmasca was conquered by the Garlean Empire, it was divided into two regions: Dalmasca Inferior and Dalmasca Superior. Valnain, located in Dalmasca Inferior, became the headquarters for Garlemald's IVth Imperial Legion under Noah van Gabranth. The imperial castrum in the city was Castrum Valnaini.
After the IVth Legion's defeat in Bozja, Lyon rem Helsos supposedly mutinied against Gabranth and burned Castrum Valnaini to the ground. Since then the city seems to have become the home of the new Dalmascan government, since it is where the fugitive Lyon delivered fellow IVth legion officer Sicinius mal Vellutus into the hands of the Dalmascans.

Valnain is named after a city from Vagrant Story, in which it was the capital of the kingdom of Valendia.
Encyclopædia Eorzea: The World of Final Fantasy XIV Volume II describes Valnain as being on the edge of the Dalmasca Desert, but the game's world map places it well within the Golmore Jungle. As the city is not actually able to be visited by players in the game, it is unknown which depiction is the accurate one.
