Attacks with Cold Dust, Rasp, and Ice 3. Its defense is high, so attack its weak spot with fire. Or, simply nullify its defenses by using AtmaWeapon.
Valigarmanda, also known as Tritoch or Frozen Esper, is a boss in Final Fantasy VI fought in the snowfields over Narshe in the World of Ruin. In the first battle event involving Valigarmanda in the Narshe Mines, it is called Frozen Esper on the GBA release. Defeating it opens the path to the Yeti's Cave where Umaro lives and the party gains the Valigarmanda magicite.

Battle
Edit
The Valigarmanda has high Defense and cannot be harmed physically, except with weapons that ignore Defense like the Valiant Knife, Fixed Dice, Drill, and Ultima Weapon. It is also immune to all elements except Fire. Offensively, Valigarmanda's only damaging spell is Blizzaga, which is weak.
Strategy
Edit
The party should cast Fira and Firaga spells to melt the esper's prison of ice. Defeating it is a simple task.

Etymology
Edit
esper (stylized as ESPer) is an individual capable of telepathy and other similar paranormal abilities. The term was apparently coined in this sense by Alfred Bester in his 1950 short story "Oddy and Id" and is derived from the abbreviation ESP for extrasensory perception.
In fiction, anTri- is a numerical prefix meaning three.
Trivia
Edit
- Formation #488 is unused, the Valigarmanda battle uses the formation #487.
