Valigarmanda (ヴァリガルマンダ, Varigarumanda?), also known as Tritoch, is a recurring summon and enemy in the Final Fantasy series. Having debuted in Final Fantasy VI, it is typically depicted as birdlike and able to use or contribute Fire, Ice, and Lightning elements.

Final Fantasy VI[]

Valigarmanda is an esper that plays a major role in the main story. It can be fought as an optional boss, after which it can be obtained as a magicite. When it is equipped, it teaches Firaga (x1), Blizzaga (x1) and Thundaga (x1). On level up, it provides +2 stat boost to Magic. Its summon ability is Tri-Disaster, which is an unblockable attack against all enemies comprised of Fire, Ice and Lightning, which costs 68 MP and has a Spell Power of 110.

Final Fantasy XIII-2[]

Valigarmanda is an answer to one of the possible questions in Captain Cryptic's Confounding Quiz, asking what legendary creature was once found in a block of ice in Gran Pulse. This is a reference to the Final Fantasy VI Valigarmanda.

Final Fantasy XIV[]

This legendary beast, held to be the mightiest in all Tural, is possessed of a serpentine body and the wings of a bird. Each time it has embarked upon a rampage, it has inflicted terrible scars upon the land, for which it has come to be dreaded as the "Skyruin."

Official website description[1]

Valigarmanda is the boss of the first trial Worqor Lar Dor Worqor Lar Dor of the Dawntrail expansion. It is also known as the Skyruin (生ける天災, Ikeru Tensai?, lit. Living Natural Disaster).

Valigarmanda is a feared beast that caused untold chaos to the giants and other races within Urqopacha and surrounding areas before being tricked into sealing itself within its own ice by Gulool Ja Ja, the first Dawnservant of Tural. It lay dormant in this state for 80 years before being broken free by Bakool Ja Ja as a diversion to allow himself to gain a lead in the rite of succession, however this proved to be pointless as the next rite required all members to be present.

The Warrior of Light fights Valigarmanda alongside Duty Support NPCS or with other players and managed to slay Valigarmanda and protect Urqopacha due to its weakened state after being sealed for 80 years. Valigarmanda can be fought again after completing the quest Dawntrail and unlocking the extreme version of the trial, and amped up and vastly more difficult version of the trial.

Valigarmanda is depicted similarly to other Final Fantasy renditions and uses three elements which can also adjust the stage. Fire, Ice and Lightning Aspects.

Final Fantasy: Unlimited After[]

Valigarmanda is one of Kaze's summons and is named Tri-Disaster. The Soil Charge Triad that are needed to summon Tri-Disaster are:

  • Burning all to ashes, Fire Red!
  • The one that freezes everything, Ice Blue!
  • The brilliance that pierces the darkness, Lightning Yellow!

Followed by saying: "Howl! I summon you, TRI-DISASTER!"

The name "Valigarmanda" may be a combination of three mythological creatures: the ice serpent Vritra, the lightning bird Garuda, and the fire lizard Salamander.

Its original English localization is Tritoch. Tri- is a numerical prefix meaning three.
