I'm afraid the jury's still out on that one.
Valhalla is a location in Final Fantasy XIII-2. It is an alternate dimension from Gran Pulse referred to as "the invisible world" in the Fabula Nova Crystallis mythology. Lightning is brought here by the feeling that her fight is not yet over at the end of Final Fantasy XIII -Episode i-. Valhalla contains a temple to the goddess Etro, which Lightning protects as a knight. Lightning retains her Eidolon Odin, and has been seen riding him to battle Chaos Bahamut. Lightning's thus-far unnamed rival character has been featured confronting her, and looking at a second temple-like building with curved green structures.
Etymology
Valhalla is part of Asgard, the realm of the Gods in Norse mythology. Ruled by Odin, mortal men slain in battle arrive in either Valhalla or Fólkvangr, and train to fight alongside Odin in the battle of Ragnarok at the end of the world.
