Vaan is the main playable character in Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings. He acts as a group leader in command of his troupe of Espers. He attacks like a traditional Warrior, although his skills comprise mostly of abilities that steal attributes from enemies to enhance his own. His Quickening, Pyroclasm, does heavy damage to enemies within a range. It is obtained by defeating Belias. Vaan's victory pose is to throw his sword up in the air and catch it with his right hand.

Vaan equips one-handed swords, chestplate armor, and boots.
His ultimate sword (apart from the Anastasis), is the Ultima Weapon, which has great offensive stats and also boosts all of Vaan's personal stats by +15. It is rewarded for "Mission 80: Keeper of Precepts".
His ultimate chestplate, Gigas Chestplate, gives 10 Strength and 15 Speed on top of good defensive stats, and is rewarded for completing "Mission 78: Masterless Minions".
His boots grant various potential bonuses to Vaan and his team of Yarhi from increased movement speed, extra hits per attack command, immunity to Immobilize, faster Mist accumulation, and better success rate for his steal skills.
Vaan holds Anastasia.
Vaan's unique equipment piece is the Anastasia weapon that is obtained as part of the story in Chapter 7. A legendary blade, only those who are chosen may wield it. It uses a generic sword sprite during battle. The sword can be fortified by completing the Midlight's Deep dungeon on the Well of Whispered Oaths, on the Keep of Forgotten Time. Anastasia is powered each time the Well of Whispered Oaths is completed and earns +10 on every stat except attack speed, which does not change, and Speed, which gets +15. The sword maxes out at +999 for all of the boostable stats, which the player would need to clear Midlight's Deep 100 times to achieve. Vaan can defeat the final boss alone in under 20 seconds with Dervish activated using the maxed out Anastasia.
