Re: Create special event template?[]

Adding the parameter |an ongoing event should do the trick with the template {{Ongoing}}, so {{Ongoing|an ongoing event}} should be enough.—Kaimi (999,999 CP/5 TP) ∙ 08:39, July 28, 2015 (UTC)

RE: Vandalism[]

Whew! Thank the heavens! It just seemed like those last few bits were being stubborn re: extrication from the page. Good thing I was able to manually delete them. Thanks for the reply. Swordzmanp236 (talk) 05:30, February 19, 2016 (UTC)

Platform articles[]

They don't really need the information you're adding to them. All that's within our scope for them is just "they're consoles made by xyz and Final Fantasy games are released on them, here's a tiny bit of background info, here's the list of games released on them, here's a list of links for more reading". I'm not opposed to expanding coverage if you feel we should cover more, but I wouldn't add the amount of information you're adding to some of them.--Magicite-ffvi-ios.png Technobliterator TC 00:02, February 27, 2016 (UTC)

I'm not going to disagree with you on one hand, but many of the older platforms do have a history behind them that needs to be shared. Case in point: the Mac. Here's something that had to pull off a complete 180-degree turn before it got to where it is now, able to run virtually all of the titles released for PC. Granted, the Mac isn't a gaming platform as one might think of a gaming platform, but without it, Windows might have taken a very different turn than it did.
Historical information is appropriate, I believe, because a lot of new contributors that might not have seen xyz thing will get a broader sense of what it is. The intent is to provide something more than "DERP, it's a computer/console! DUH, it runs Final Fantasy somehow!". The way it works out, every console/computer/handheld/whatever happens to be a stepping stone to the next. And we're an encyclopedia, for crying out loud! While we may not need to have a full history of some thing (and I am trying to condense some of the info I find as best I can), I do think that it looks better for us if it looks like we know what the hell we're talking about. Swordzmanp236 (talk) 00:52, February 27, 2016 (UTC)
The point is that it's not really our job to know what we're talking about when it comes to platforms that the games run on. There are sites out there where it is their job to know, however, and they will have extensive coverage. They'll also be filled with citations and sources throughout, citing various works: like you said, we're an encyclopedia, so we're not a publisher of original thought or original research, we have to cite the publications that have done the research, which is why Wikipedia's pages are filled with them.
Going back to your Mac example: absolutely right, the "DUH, it runs Final Fantasy somehow!" is something our coverage should address. This could be a few sentences saying it's distinct from Windows on the Mac page, or on the Windows page to say that there the majority of games you won't find on other desktop operating systems. And it's also why I decided to leave in the point about bootcamp being a thing on Mac, because that's absolutely a valid point the article should make. However, this clarity is not the primary purpose of our coverage, and it's why we don't have a page on Linux just because it's an operating system that doesn't run Final Fantasy games natively, but there are plenty of ways to run a Final Fantasy game on them (some of which less legal than others...). There's also a link at the bottom of pages that directs people to the Wikipedia page, which can cover this work more extensively.
That said, in principle, I'm not strongly against your idea. I'd welcome you to open up a discussion if you want to expand the coverage more. However, as far as out-of-universe topics are concerned, we mainly concern the topics that are strictly relevant to the events surrounding the games, or the development of them, because that's stuff that people come to a Final Fantasy Wiki to learn, whereas the history behind the platforms they were released on is just less important to readers.--Magicite-ffvi-ios.png Technobliterator TC 01:09, February 27, 2016 (UTC)
On that point, may I suggest you take a hard look at PlayStation Vita? I don't know who started it way back when, but I don't see the point of describing the hardware as written; most of the references made are a bit out of date or completely useless. I'm just not sure HOW to clean it up without ruffling a few feathers. Swordzmanp236 (talk) 01:31, February 27, 2016 (UTC)
I think that should do it, I'm not convinced the dates should be kept, but I'm on tablet and about to sleep, so meh. Anyways, regardless of this issue, nice job on the articles. Out of universe stuff tends to get overlooked on most Wikia wiki's in favour of Wikipedia, we're no exception, so it's great to see someone willing to help out.--Magicite-ffvi-ios.png Technobliterator TC 04:19, February 27, 2016 (UTC).
Thank you, chief. I'll be looking for more odd bits in between trying to keep up on FFRK stuff. I was pretty sure that the BlackBerry article I began with and that you moved needed the history info after it was severely redacted. One company, three platforms necessitating vastly different approaches. I had to connect them all somehow. Swordzmanp236 (talk) 06:50, February 27, 2016 (UTC)

"Sir"? I'm not that old. But yes, we can do it. It would be cool to obtain those icons for realms (like that crystal for Core, or "T" for Tactics). I can ask around and see what I can get in that case.—Kaimi (999,999 CP/5 TP) ∙ 21:57, June 16, 2016 (UTC)

There's no need to be so polite on internet, unless you're talking with a person of some high renown, I suppose.
Really? I suppose there might be something broken with the PI's central code or something. I'm not exactly a tech guy, Technobliterator is one of those so you would be better asking about that stuff him than me.—Kaimi (999,999 CP/5 TP) ∙ 09:42, June 17, 2016 (UTC)

The Pulse Fal'Cie event infobox[]

Do you have any idea why images won't appear in this infobox? Or is it just on my computer?--LeafShinobi (talk) 23:51, June 16, 2016 (UTC)

Apparently, this was a glitch caused by a recent patch to the Mother Ship systems. I'll double-check that event. Swordzmanp236 (talk) 00:07, June 17, 2016 (UTC)
Hmm... Fixed the most obvious issue, but I wonder if there's an issue with the apostrophe there... Swordzmanp236 (talk) 00:27, June 17, 2016 (UTC)

OK, thanks for checking it out and your response. By the way, what source you took ending date of that event from? I'm asking, because Japanese official strategy site gives it as December 16.--LeafShinobi (talk) 16:57, June 17, 2016 (UTC)

If anything, I went with a guess from an established pattern. Swordzmanp236 (talk) 18:29, June 17, 2016 (UTC)
Oh, OK. So I guess it'll be safe if I put the date from the site? I know there may be somtimes mistakes on official strategy sites, but I guess it's rare and we don't have more relialable source of information on this one. By the way, what "estabilished pattern" were you talking about? FFRK events have vary in length.--LeafShinobi (talk) 19:02, June 17, 2016 (UTC)
Events usually last 10-14 days internationally (average about 10) Swordzmanp236 (talk) 00:43, June 18, 2016 (UTC)
OK. I changed it already.--LeafShinobi (talk) 18:07, June 18, 2016 (UTC)

"Synopsis" for FFRK event pages[]

I think the amount of of text you give in "Synopsis" section for FFRK is hardly needed; the game barely scratches the tip if the story related to an event and that is only when one enters the event for the first time, so such long synopses are beside the point IMO. Few sentences in the opening paragraph would be enough. And please, no "..." and other not-so-encyclopedic marking. I admire how you can produce a wall of text in that regard but sometimes it's not needed.—Kaimi (999,999 CP/5 TP) ∙ 21:47, June 18, 2016 (UTC)

RE: Anchors[]

Re: Bonus Quest withdrawal[]

From the point of an average player Bonus Quests are history, and some even don't know they existed in the first place. I wouldn't mind having character acquirement through Bonus Quests list to be included in Bonus Quests article, but since FFRK is a mobile game and those change rapidly at times listing things no longer available in the game is kinda silly.—Kaimi (999,999 CP/5 TP) ∙ 17:18, August 15, 2016 (UTC)

Re: Discord and Harmony: requesting help[]

You want a tabbed templated on the page, yes? I think you should take this to Technobliterator since he's our tech guy, I'm not very good with this stuff.—Kaimi (999,999 CP/5 TP) ∙ 07:53, August 22, 2016 (UTC)

Re: FFRK Event page rewrites[]

Starting with The Battle Arena, all events are up on FFRKCentral so getting information like ability awards won't be much of a problem. Old Quest system information is likely in someone's Google Documents provided they haven't deleted it since introduction of Cid's Missions.—Kaimi (999,999 CP/5 TP) ∙ 08:32, August 31, 2016 (UTC)

A tall order, that. I know so very little of the language in question here, and I'm not quite that far into Exvius (I'd give anything to buy/make third-tier equipment at the moment on Kolobos (sic)) to be able to help as yet. Not saying that I can't/won't be available to fix things over there. It might be a while 'fore I get there. Swordzmanp236 (talk) 08:25, September 1, 2016 (UTC)

Hello Man : ) I'm back here, still about tabbers but first let me relax with something easy and already done, the Challenge Event and nearby ones. I prepared two alternative versions in my SandBox; of these two I prefer the first one even if it is the longest version ever. Anyway it applies only to that event, other events won't change so much. Let me know which one do you prefer or if do you have some other layout in your mind. I will apply it to every event table on FFRK. After this one is done the next are Soul Break tables but there we have to start from scratch once again.

Anyway yeah; we're a small community as of now and I just joined because so many of my monster rips were used there (my real commitment is with the spanish DQ wiki =)). if you want a page deleted you should just add the template stating your reason and/or ask Ellis who has the privilege to do so, and is nice enough to have done so for me in the past. --Frostare (talk) 15:12, May 15, 2017 (UTC)

General terminology category[]

Do you have plans for the General terminology category? It has articles in "it" but it's not actually an existing category. I'm not sure where that could be created and what it would include.Keltainentoukokuu (talk) 20:24, May 29, 2017 (UTC)

Trying to get all these across-the-board terms into it. Parties, battles, units, yada-yada-yada. If you can come up with a better placement/name for it, then by all means. By the by, looks like the MMO Tactics and Terminology category needs devapitalization. Swordzmanp236 (talk) 21:38, May 29, 2017 (UTC)
You need to actually create it. Just click Create.
So like, Key item, Sidequest, Weapon (equipment)?Keltainentoukokuu (talk) 23:33, May 29, 2017 (UTC)
Precisely. It's kind of like we're putting together a glossary without making a glossary page. Some terms indeed break the MMO plane, but we still use a lot of RPGibberish regardless. Swordzmanp236 (talk) 02:02, May 30, 2017 (UTC)

FFBA iOS Stuff[]

Yeah I've spent a long time, about 4 hours looking for this stuff, but unfortunately I'm kind of unable to find some sort of information on it being 64 bit or iOS 8 readied.

Heck the official FFBA site for JPN is flat out hot BLOODY GARBAGE now and never is updated with requirements, the fact they mention the old cell phone version of FFBA proves that...since I thought it was axed off a while ago. I'm trying to look for like FFBA Japanese chats to find out anything of the sort, but I seems a lot of those sites are dead with no recent information about the recent axing spree apple caused because of the recent iOS version. Square Bridge won't host info on this because it's external developed by Mobage/DeNA. So currently the requirements from the iTunes store information you provided to me is all the recent up to date information they have provided.

However, I was doing this while sick with dehydration again though (not mad for helping of course, just sick and tired of this affecting my wiki work, Xeno can vouch for me >_<;;;), so maybe I may have missed something. I will continue searching for info on this though, so I'll get more back to you on this if I find anything new. Also...yeah need to make an archive there's about 5 years worth of messages on there. Daily Dungeon[]

Thanks for the help. Good to be reminded someone else is actively keeping an eye on the game too. :) DrakeyC (talk) 00:05, December 23, 2017 (UTC)

I'll just toss out, if you're ever looking to help me out more, you can take a stab at the event pages. Just find the event on this site, copy this coding to the event page, and fill out the fields. Even just keeping up with the current events would help a lot. DrakeyC (talk) 16:17, January 3, 2018 (UTC)

Kingdom Hearts help[]

What do you need?

Also, I'm looking that you left X's plot section untouched, well done, I know all of X's plot up until now and it maybe the most important title that leads to KH3 and, at the sime time, the most confusing of them all. -- Eco (talk) 22:31, February 25, 2018 (UTC)

Much obliged, Eco. Looks like we need summaries of activity since KHII (prequels, sequels, offshoots, &c.). Couple of PS4 remakes hit the streets as well, but we just need to bring it current. Swordzmanp236 (talk) 22:50, February 25, 2018 (UTC)

FFD/FFL dead[]

The original phone release of FFD, which was released in chapters you could only play one at a time (your phone deleting the previous chapter before it can download another), and the only version that had the Challenge Dungeon (why did they nix it for smartphones? who knows), is deaded.

The simplest evidence is where the official FFL mobile site now redirects.

The same is also true for FFI, FFII, FFIV, 4tA(Y), FFA(SeiDen), Crystal Defenders, Itadaki Street Mobile, and I assume the original FF[A]B. Every official site that was hosted as a subpage of*/ now redirects to an is dead page.

Of the above, besides one I don't think anything of value was lost because AFAIK all the above games have other versions with identical content. Before Crisis and DoC Lost Episode are the total casualties (unless someone owns phones with a chapter each on them), Dimensions/Legends is a casualty because it had content that isn't accessible on iOS/Android, and Snowboarding and Itadaki Street Mobile should still be fully playable if they were downloaded prior but can no longer be acquired legally anywhere. JBed (talk) 18:27, April 15, 2018 (UTC)

Thanks again for the excellent detective work. I'll see what I can come up with on impacted pages. Swordzmanp236 (talk) 21:10, April 15, 2018 (UTC)

Why don't you update the news box when posting Shinra News?[]

?Keltainentoukokuu (talk) 13:14, August 25, 2018 (UTC)

One reason, for sure: until recently, I've had keyboard trouble (the computer I've used can scarcely type vowels lately). Other than that, sheer laziness. I've only just rebuilt a Win10 machine to put the former issue to rest. As for the latter, are there any time-saving shortcuts to write out "Project:Shinra News#story|display name" with each entry? Swordzmanp236 (talk) 14:39, August 25, 2018 (UTC)
Yeah it's a bit annoying, I just copy-paste the title. They gotta be quite short to fit there too. But no one will find the news if it doesn't appear on the main page!Keltainentoukokuu (talk) 15:00, August 25, 2018 (UTC)

DFFOO Character List: new section[]

Hey umm, I've seen the reply that you messaged me... uhh… Now, I haven't replied to you because, I was busy yesterday, but, I do understand where you're coming from, regarding the Opera Omnia editing. Honestly, since all the Final Fantasy Characters that were playable in Opera Omnia was in acquisition order, I felt like, it was unorganized and plain random. And, looking at the other Dissidia Final Fantasy Installments, specifically the character pages, they were in release order for Dissidia and Dissidia 012 Duodecim, and Numbered Entries first and Spin Off Titles last for Dissidia NT. So I figured it would've worked for the Playable Characters Page for Opera Omnia if it was in release order similarly to the other games in the Dissdia Series of Spin Off Titles, which does work to be honest. I appreciate your message, but, it's just doesn't seem right to be in acquisition order, because it feels randomized.
