Heyyy if you don't like it don't be pressured to play. Life is too short to play a game you don't enjoy! It's a funny thing that you should play a 40 hour game from start to finish and then decide if you like it or not. :) There is a "world map" type of place, and moogles and gilgamesh are mentioned, but are not actually found in the game as characters. And Lightning... ahh Lightning Lightning. She is alright but they put too much pressure on her shoulders, to be a "convincing female main character". She's not very natural and comes across quite fake all till the end. You don't really "get to know her personally" and thus stays depressingly distant, unlike most other FF heros.KeltainentoukokuuKeltainentoukokuu

Moogle FF3.gif

Gran Pulse is just ruins and Cie'th and monsters and some fal'Cie. I, personally, that's a cool place. I wish the ruins had been bigger and there had been things to "discover", but it's interesting that it's just ruins that are inhabited by zombies. Oh, thank you! It went well, I recovered quicker than they expected, I'm glad to be back :) - Paramina 17:14, September 19, 2010 (UTC)
How fast? Like a few days? Can you see perfectly fine now? Are you still experiencing effects of the surgery? Kupohunter 22:30, September 20, 2010 (UTC)
Do you still have eye lazorz? --SilverCrono 22:39, September 20, 2010 (UTC)

I had cutterage on my eyelid - I can see perfectly fine, and the only after-effects is it's a little scratchy... I still need to take like, eye-lube or whatever until the actual cut heals. I had a pirate-esque eye patch for a bit, but it's cool, because it was piratey and I could just lie on the sofa all day. But it's all good now. And no, I don't have eye lasers. Sadly. Sorry. - Paramina 22:51, September 20, 2010 (UTC)

I remember my surgery a while ago, was hell. Hope your recovery goes well, and here's hoping the eye-lasers are just slow to activate. :) Doreiku Kuroofangu 22:55, September 20, 2010 (UTC)

On Vivi.[edit source]

It's just one of those things you need to experience. If you still haven't played FF9, play it. Get it from eBay, mug a guy coming out of GameStop, buy a PS3, but it is totally worth it. It's one of those you either love or hate, but the only thing I've ever heard bad about it is people not giving it a chance over the art style. Vivi himself has a way of quickly winning you over and making you feel for him. He's the exact right combination of powerful and insecure that makes you, like the cast, feel protective of him, but also lets him really shine in his moments of confidence. He grows up before your eyes during the course of the game, starting as a scared kid who doesn't realize his own potential and via careful prodding from his friends and experiencing life becomes an able young wizard. A lot of people feel very strongly for him because most if not all of us have been there in some way or another. Even if not, he's very likable. He's never whiny or bratty, always very polite and kind, and willing to help. You could do worse than be a Vivi fan. Thanks for the walkthroughs![edit source]

I was introduced to the final fantasy series through my ex boyfriend, and actually didn't like them (mainly because he didn't help me, or teach me, just got grumpy if I didn't know what I was meant to be doing...) Then a couple of years ago, I started dating my new fella, and he is OBSESSED! So he decided that I should give it another try... The downside being that I then moved away, and didn't have a working TV! I now have one, and am re-playing the wonder that is X at the moment. Aah, Tidus... What a guy... I know most people don't like him, but I am kinda fond of the character, he reminds me of my big brother! Lol!

Anyway, I have been using your walkthrough to help me with things like boss battles, treasure, and, frankly to make me laugh, you're talented! :D I would like to say that in ruins of Baaj temple, when Tidus first reaches them and whines about the cold (so like my brother! :p), there's two chests that you've missed... In the corridor where the withered bouquet is, if you go down at the doorway there's a chest with an Ether in it, and if you go to the unopenable door to the right of that exit, in the main hall, and manouver around the stones, there's a hidden chest that has an X-Potion in it. :)

I just thought I'd let you know. I'm looking forward to reading your other walkthroughs, I'm disabled, and housebound, and they really cheer me up... - Preceding comment left by SkadisPhoenix, 16:39, November 3, 2010.

That's really sweet, I'm glad you've enjoyed them - that's why I write them :) I'll be sure to pop those chests I've missed, please let me know if you spot anything else I've missed out. Thanks again - Paramina 00:31, November 9, 2010 (UTC)

I remember when this image first appeared on the wiki - pretty sure I commented on it actually, saying his face was the best thing ever in the history of FF media. Terra's a great character too, so it's going to be a tough battle. If he does lose, he couldn't have lost to a more worthy contestant, but hopefully he'll win the whole thing because he's the epitome of awesome. - Paramina 03:07, December 10, 2010 (UTC)

FF XII Walkthrough/Part 27/Edge of Reason[edit source]

About the Gate Gigas, I walked through three illusions to get it to appear. This means either you play a different version or, you don't actually remember what you did to get to it. Can you clear this up for me please? RedMarston 16:59, January 3, 2011 (UTC)

It think it entirely depends on which glyph you start from. If you travelled past the one that Paramina started at, then you'll visit fewer because you've skipped one. A more extreme example would be to start from the one nearest Gate Gigas, in which case you would only have to visit that one. I'm pretty willing to bet that this is the source of the confusion -- Sorceror Nobody 22:22, January 3, 2011 (UTC)

FFX Part 20 - Cloister[edit source]

Hi there. Firstly, thank you so much for taking the time not only to write an informational, but an exceptionally entertaining FFX walk-through. I can't help grinning to myself, especially with your (very true) remarks about Wakka. I'm on Part 20 now and I've just completed the Cloister at Bevelle. ...there's a small typo toward the end, where you write "On Arrow Glyph (2), hit Image:x-button.png when the arrow is pointing right. Push the Pedestal back onto the track to continue." - it should read Arrow Glyph (1). I've never edited a wiki article in my life, and I don't want to accidentally cause it to self-destruct; which is why instead of making that minor edit, I've decided to leave it here for the professionals. Cheers again! 82.39.163.68 00:30, January 24, 2011 (UTC)

lol indeed, aggro anon. Party set ups were done as a last minute tack on, I didn't think anyone actually looked at them. Anyway, I was going for more of the 'Samurai' job class on the whole. FFXIII Walkthrough: Part 5[edit source]

Hello, I've been following the progress of your FFXIII walkthrough and noticed that in part 5, the first section of Lake Bresha, that you mention that the player should use the Aggression Paradigm, but have in parentheses (Com Rav Rav), which is Relentless Assault. Hey there!

I've read your XII and VIII walkthroughs and you've inspired me to write one of my own for IX. Would mind helping me get started? I like the way that you structure yours so I would like to do something similar. I'm just having a hard time getting started!

Thanks, gphillip17

Ondor is Ashes uncle[edit source]

regarding your 12 walkthrough when you said "i think" hes her uncle. he definitely is, he said something about remember when a young girl only wanted to be in her uncle arms and shortly after, Ashe refers to him as "uncle halim(?)" not exactly sure on his name but its clear as day that hes her uncle.

Yeah, I was sure he was, but I seem to remember there being a bit of debate over it at Ondore's article, something about it just being a term of endearment or something. I can't really remember, it was a while ago. - Paramina 21:10, August 19, 2011 (UTC)

Hey There[edit source]

I've been using your FFVIII walkthrough, which is both insanely helpful and an interesting read. Your commentary on the game is actually pretty funny. It was more interesting than most of the game's story anyway.

I was just wondering if you knew about the Quistis Degenerator trick to both level up and take care of annoying enemies like the Tonberies during that sidquest. Basically you keep Quistis on critical status so you can use Degenerator to get rid of an enemy quickly. It works wonders when leveling up, simply go to the Island Closest to Heaven or Island Closest to Hell, give Quistis Initiative and Degenerator, give someone else Revive, and you've got a pretty easy way of leveling up.

Walkthrough tips?[edit source]

Hello! I really enjoyed your FFX International guide, especially the Dark Aeon/Penance help. I myself am thinking of writing a walkthrough of Final Fantasy X-2 International + Last Mission, since a friend of mine is almost done completing a semi-English translation patch! It won't translate Last Mission unfortunately, or NPC dialogue or subtitles, since there are difficulties in switching to English.

Anyway, using his patch, I would like to make a walkthrough to help people complete the game along with all the extras (there are a LOT of extras!). However I am unsure how exactly to begin. The game is pretty massive, and I'm unsure how long it will take me to finish. Do you have any pointers or tips I could use? I'd really appreciate it :)

Looking forward to a Versus XIII guide from you someday, I love your humor!

(RikiNaoe 01:40, August 30, 2011 (UTC))

Aw, thanks! Yeah, it's always kind of daunting starting a walkthrough. I'm going to have to say the obvious - just start at the beginning. I tend to have zero idea as to how long a walkthrough is going to take me to finish. Sometimes, like for my XII one, I play the whole game through making notes, and then I start writing. But others, like my X and XIII walkthrough, I play like in 'chapters' and then went to write those up as I go along. I guess it all depends on what you prefer. If you want help/tips on how to actually start your walkthrough, as in coding and things, just let me know. - Paramina 10:41, September 7, 2011 (UTC)

Thank you! Looking at all the huge walkthroughs on here, especially yours, is very daunting. I will likely begin one for International X-2 once the patch is out, and when that time comes I'll likely ask you how to were able to make those fancy boss sections, etc. Also, did you begin writing the guide of the story first? Or did you do the extras first? Thanks again for the help. Hopefully when the patch is out you give it a try as well! You wouldn't believe how much more fun International X-2 is over regular X-2. I used to -hate- X-2: thought it was a fun battle system buried under a terrible plot, characters, etc. But really.. this International version redeemed itself :)

- (RikiNaoe 00:49, September 13, 2011 (UTC))

Hey Paramina, nice work here with all the walkthroughs ;) Just wonder one thing... where u from? I read several times the word "amigo" and "ola malta" =) I'm Portuguese and you got me curious! :)

Please finish the FF VII walkthrough[edit source]

Paramina, Please continue your FF VII walkthrough. I know that it has probably long left your things to do list, and I further realize that there are many many many other walkthroughs for that game out there for me to take advantage of, however, none of those other walkthroughs share your voice! I had a blast playing VIII again with your walkthrough, and have enjoyed what you've written for XIII so far as well. Even though I really like VIII it didn't bother me that you dreaded playing through it. Your comments made it all the more fun in my opinion, because I simply loved your sense of humor. Now I can't help but think of some of your commentary whenever I play through it. So please consider finishing the VII walkthrough as well. It would be much appreciated by more than just myself. ——Preceding unsigned comment was added by Chiakisenpai (talkcontribs). Please sign your posts with ~~~~.

Hey!

Not sure if you even come on here anymore!

Just wanted to say how useful/amusing i found your walkthrough for ffVIII (your be devastated to learn its my favorite FF).

I wondered if you had any plans to do/complete a ffxIII or ffxIII-2 walkthrough?

Thanks

Diesel

VIII is your favourite?! Ahh, I won't judge too hard, everyone has their own tastes; I like Tidus, for example. I have plans for both - I'm going to finish up my XIII walkthrough, and the VII one I left hanging, then go on and walkthrough XIII-2. I'm contemplating a IX one, too, since I'll have a lot of spare time when I finish class later this month. - Paramina (talk) 23:27, April 11, 2013 (UTC)

Why has THIS page been forgotten???[edit source]

I'm a newcomer with zero knowledge about what a template or coding or whatsoever are those things, so I'll just try to ask this through the talk page. As stated, all I just want to know is, obviously, what happened to the user: Paramina (I know it can sound REALLY creepy, it just so happens that I became a fan of her work, both me and my friends had never laughed so hard at a walkthrough or anything related to the matter and, of course, it helped me in my gameplay) the natural response would be that she began to study/work and no longer has time for games, but what really got me is that neither she nor any of the other users has posted ANYTHING since over 2011. I just think she is a great writer, and how sad it is that her work likely would end unfinished.

Xurono (talk) 23:16, March 23, 2013 (UTC)

Um, hey - thank you so much for the compliment, really! Anyway, you've probably disappeared into cyberspace by now, but I'm going to make sure nothing is unfinished now. It's always nice to know someone's enjoying your work :) - Paramina (talk) 23:27, April 11, 2013 (UTC)

Basch[edit source]

You know him and FF12 better than I I'd wager. I need a theme for him for my Top Ten Males vid, and the theme for him noted on this playlist and similar searches is too short, so know of another theme appropriate for him? Doreiku Kuroofangu 08:46, April 23, 2013 (UTC)

Depends on the kind of theme you're looking for. In terms of pieces that are associated with Basch... well, he features pretty prevalently in the opening FMV with Opening Movie, (the Battle of Nalbina part starts around the 3:30 mark). The "I know something of cages" scene is to Signs of Change. Other than that, his other major moments (like the cage in the Dungeons, fighting Gabranth) are Imperial variations. Uh... if you just want a good XII track, again, it depends on what kind you want. Rebellion is a good battle one, but if you're after something less lively, White Room is nice. I hope this helps! - Paramina (talk) 14:15, April 23, 2013 (UTC)
Any type of theme is good as long as it can pass as Basch's. Also, hop on the IRC for a moment, wanna show you something. Doreiku Kuroofangu 17:46, April 23, 2013 (UTC)

Something[edit source]

Well it is actually revealed if you REALLY look closely in XIII-2. ( WIll provide you with a screenshot in a moment)

As far as for Lightning Returns, Look at their Lightning Returns page. Under Media look at the second screenshot. In here Dark Muse Garb, you can see clearly that there is nothing if you zoom in.

Uh, okay. It just seems like a rather trivial thing to note if you have to zoom in on screenshots to see it. It's not a massive change to her appearance. Put it back in, if you really want. - Paramina (talk) 15:59, May 3, 2013 (UTC)

Hmm, you're right. Sorry, my bad. Go ahead and put it back in. - Paramina (talk) 16:07, May 3, 2013 (UTC)

Alright then.

Yes it is a minor thing but i really can not understand why she qould have one in the first place.

It is good that they removed it in the Sequal and the upcoming game.

Awesome walkthroughs. I'm playing 12 right now during a med school break, and using your FF12 walkthrough. But since you're really funny, I'm actually reading your other walkthroughs just for the hell of it too, even though I actually played those games years ago. Keep up the good work, and can't wait to read your take on IX, my favorite in the series, with Vivi and Quina, 2 of the best characters in the series.

Naomi,

I've been playing through FFVIII (again) lately, after having played 9 and 10 and I guess I just didn't get my fill of a sappy love story from the latter two. I'm somewhat enjoying playing FFVIII this time through (if only for a misplaced sense of accomplishment), but when I stumbled across your walkthrough, all of the game went to the wayside. I have enjoyed reading your walkthrough so thoughroughly that it is the only reason I'm still playing the game--to follow along with your wonderfully written, incredibly funny writing. I have laughed out loud at your analysis/descriptions of situations and characters, your addition of unspoken dialogue, and have enjoyed even your chapter titles in the directional links. Absolutely perfect. All of it. It reads like a wonderful short story. I just wanted to let you know--I don't really have a question--that you are a very talented writer, and I hope you enjoy writing this walkthrough (even if you had to play the game along with it!) even half as much as I enjoyed reading it.

Bravo,

Cheers,

Vince (I'm not much of a gamer so I don't think I deserve a cool handle like the rest of this community has)

FFXII Characters' Manual Description[edit source]

Why did you remove the manual description from Basch's page? We already have manual descriptions for FFXIII and FFXIII-2 characters. We have a slightly similar situation with FFVI characters where in-game character descriptions are posted. If you really think that manual descriptions are not important for the Wiki, then please start a discussion thread so the Wiki contributors may decide what should we do about it.—Kaimi (999,999 CP/5 TP) 22:50, June 3, 2013 (UTC)

...aren't you on the IRC right now? Did you see the discussion there? - Paramina (talk) 22:57, June 3, 2013 (UTC)

I'm about to feel like a guy trying to figure out if a microphone is working by speaking into it... while it's full blown and everyone and their mother can hear it. Anyway, just reading your Final Fantasy VIII walk though. I love it. Love the humor. Love the quirkiness. So I came to the conclusion I need to learn who the heck you are as a real person.

So... who are you? Hit me up, I have questions to ask, and a potentially awkward conversation to hold with you. Or something of the sort. Hope you're as curious as I am.

Cheers!

Hey Paramina, Not to sound creepy or anything but I've been following your walkthroughs for the past few years, ever since I lived in Japan. I am getting a new blog started up where I just rant and rave and waste time talking about video game news and stuffs. I was going to write an article about Final Fantasy VIII being released on Steam last month and how I downloaded it, and then immediately started following your walkthrough again. When I lived in Japan I played the game on the PS1 with my friend and we followed your walkthrough, laughing all the way. When I went back to play it again I knew I couldn't enjoy the game near as much without your commentary there again. Do you mind if I mention you and link people to your walkthrough on my blog? Thanks a lot for all the enjoyment you've given me with VIII. (even though you hated it. Your hate brought me joy.) Now I'll just get into my clown car and go back to Balamb....

Aw, thanks, this is really sweet! I'm actually really flattered that you'd want to mention me on your blog. Glad to hear you enjoyed what I enjoyed writing so much! - Paramina (talk) 10:11, January 12, 2014 (UTC)

Just beat ff x hd remastered using your walk through, it was great. Do you have one for ff 10-2.

Thanks for the FF VIII Walkthrough! It was both entertaining and Informative. I couldn't have pushed through this game without it.

Thank you for the FFVIII guide. It has been a real trip playing through (my favorite) game with your hilarious guide. You have a gift when it comes to this thing. I look forward to completing the entire Final Fantasy series with you walkthroughs.

Hi there, I just completed FFX following your walkthrough. I just wanted to say that your commentary cracked me up, and I will never see Wakka without thinking "Orange Racist" ever again. Thank you for an awesome walkthrough, and a hilarious read.

I started writing walkthroughs on here because I read your guide to Final Fantasy X and got inspired to do my own. Thank you for the inspiration, and the total deficit of my free time.

Hi! First, just wanted to say I'm thoroughly enjoying your XII walkthrough. The game can be staggeringly rudderless at times, and it was scanning through your walkthrough that got me to pick the game back up after, what has it been now, a decade-plus since it came out? So for that, thanks.

Second, I want to advocate for a game play strategy that actually makes good use of Vaan and Penelo. I know, I know. Bear with me, and know I'm playing the original PS3 issue disc:

Essentially, it's buffs-and-money based game play, focusing on minimal magic use and across-the-board physical attacks. I fell into this on what is now my third playthrough, particularly after grueling hours of trying to make GP at the expense of EXP and LP via Poaching the first two times, and struggling to find a balance that kept the game moving. The strategy is essentially this:

1.) Purchase Protect, Shell, Berserk and Steal (for everyone) as early as possible.

2.) Designate one buffer-thief at basically all times. Their job is to keep everyone else Berserked, pretty much. Since Berserk basically has built-in Haste, there's no need to spend the extra valuable LP to get up to Haste on the License Board. When they aren't buffing, they are stealing. From EVERY enemy.

3.) Only spend LP on gear upgrades for Heavy Armor (to boost attack stats) and each character's innate weapon "tree". Vaan and Ashe stay sword-and-board, Basche stays swords transitioning into Katanas, Spears and Greatswords, Penelo stays daggers and works into poles (for increased Evade), the incomparable Balthier and Fran stay with their respective guns and bows. ALL OTHER LP gets pumped into the perk corner of the skill license board--Potion Lore, HP up, Phoenix Lore, etc. Avoid magic perks and gambits as much as possible for Fran, Balthier, Vaan and Basche; get Magic, but not Gambits, for Penelo and Ashe. Except for the necessary magic purchases (in White) and minimal necessary gear upgrades, this entire corner of the license board will be filled out first (except maybe that ridiculous unarmed combat boost).

4.) Buy gear at "checkpoints" in the story, not when you just have the money for it. All that loot adds up, but the Grimoires should always be a priority.

5.) Don't stress about hunts--read the notices and save them for when you're overpowered (maybe not the Thextera, given the Grimoire it eventually yields). Do clean sweeps once you're over-leveled for a few hunts at a time, read the next wave of posts, and come back to it after a few levels. The rare bazaar goods aren't coming until much later anyway, and hunts on par with your ability can drain item resources.

6.) Lean on your two good temporary characters. HARD. With Larsa the human pharmacy, you can make a ton of money without over-leveling yourself a bit. Just set everyone's first two gambits to "HP Critical=Poach" and "Foe:nearest visible = Attack". Larsa will spend all his time healing you, you can run around and collect Couerl pelts left and right, and those sell for, I think, 454 apiece? Not bad that early in the game. With Reddas, just buff-and-berserk so his gambits don't pull him too far away from your party.

7.) Penelo and Ashe, as your primary (and essentially only) magic users, should get the earliest Quickenings to get the MP boost.

8.) Save all that money and buy six Golden Amulets as soon as possible, and wear them at all times. Since reserve party members earn the double LP boost too, you can now have EVERYONE focus on developing spells, techs and armors in whatever way you see fit to get all of their Quckenings as soon as possible.

Along with this, the minor finds and steals in gear for upgrades should be most of what you use in order to save money; you shouldn't buy a full armor and helmet set of new gear until the Shielded Armor, which comes with a free buff (Protect). You can ride that armor out, with an evenly built party, until just before Girvegan, believe it or not, and the full cast of Giant's Helmets and Carabineer Mails will carry you until before the Lighthouse. By then, between one person always nonstop stealing and that stack of Grimoires you've landed, you'll have more than enough loot to buy top-flight Heavy gear for the road to the Sun-Chryst.

Remember, though, the game play mechanic is pretty strictly centered on keeping Vaan, Balthier, Fran and Basche buffed (adding in Haste and Bravery in due course, obviously), and above all, Berserked at all times. Helpful to remember in this type of play style is that reserve member buffs don't tick away--I often find myself wandering with my one "spellblade" character (Penelo or Ashe) and as soon as an enemy targets me, pause, bring in one of my two teams (either Vaan and Basche or Fran and Balthier), have them mop things up in short order, then immediately pause, and put them in reserve. In this way, you can REALLY stretch those buff windows, cut down on MP use, and in lots of situations, handle things with just Penelo or Ashe alone.

So, that's essentially the strategy--instead of super-leveling a select few and keeping the others out of the loop, build evenly, Berserk constantly, steal to get loot, and you can keep it interesting at much lower levels (I just destroyed the Sun-Chryst, and my fighters are only level 36).

Just a thought--not that I'm a fan of either character particularly (you make a good point--why do they speak in nasal American accents when everyone else doesn't? Kind of like Frog in Chrono Trigger--how come no one else in the Middle Ages says "thee" and "thou" except him?). But, in terms of making them useful, Vaan comes with Steal and Penelo starts with good magic stats, and those CAN be a basis for contribution.

Loving the walkthrough and your awesome sense of humor. Take care!

Just wanted to say....

I don't even know if you read this stuff anymore or how active you are in this wiki, if at all.

FFXII will always hold a special place in my heart and memories. Taking that strange journey with you has been the best part. You have done more than you can even realize.
