Yikes! It's been a while since we've talked...and you should probably archive some stuff so you don't get backed up too bad.
Anyway, Xeno says you might be able to help with a little bit of research that's got me stumped. I'd like to be able to determine whether the Japanese Final Fantasy Brigade app has been readied for iOS 8 and above and is 64-bit ready. What numbers I can glean from the write-up are these:
- Minimum iOS: 5.0
- Updated: November 2014
- Thanks for getting back so quick. The information I'm actually looking for is written right within iTunes' description of the app. So, to get it, you basically set your store as the Japanese store, search out the title, and then there will be a link on the app's page from which you can read the version history. Amidst the stuff I cannot read is something about iOS 7. Doesn't seem to be much beyond that. Yeah, I saw him. He looks pretty disgusting. @_@; Also huh...I knew they were going to bring that as a standalone game, but wonder how that'll turn out. Wonder if it'll be somewhat like the original FFD or not. Which means I'll probably never get to play it. T-THa...well, at least you're not being consumed by just ONE mobile game like I am right now, eh? FFBE is fun sometimes, but very very frustrating other times. >_<

- Yeah I'm fully aware of the data transfer between the free-to-play to premium release. But nope, only the Warriors of Spacetime was the only summon added in the premium version. Nice work on snagging all of those images, must've taken quite a bit of time to do. ^^ If you can do so, think you can put them on the proper ability pages too (for example, I'm assuming Chaotic Wave would go on Chaos Wave, yes?). Assuming the JP names are the same as before and all that.
No problem lol. Quite a bit of time is a bit of an understatement lol, it actually added almost 14 extra hours to my already 120 hour playthrough of the game. I've actually have gotten all the summon ability images and 840 signet images, but I digress lol. @_@ Anyways yes, Chaotic Wave is indeed Chaos Wave, I've noticed the localization team renamed all the abilities with the name "Chaos" in it to "Chaotic", I guess to sound more grammatically correct. RE: Crystal Eye
Ey, no worries about how long things take. I've been on here less and less myself, all my time taken up by work + Exvius (3 hours each play session of Exvius, because 2 accounts (main and 2nd that a buddy gave me) + taking care of a buddy's account who doesn't have net atm, and doing it twice a day, so roughly 6 hours a day on Exvius alone). With MAYBE some work on my RPG Maker game (which, btw, is pretty much done! Just have to update some chests and weapons, finish the final boss, and that's that! Aside from bug fixing and the like ^^;).
For each account, it's usually 30 minutes to an hour, longer if there's new story stuff, so yeah, there's a lot of time spent on that cursed game. But Sakura sure is a cutie~ Dohohoho...and Trance Terra continues to be my best forever~I've been working on my game for 11 1/2 years, getting closer to 12. Done in RPG Maker 2k3, believe it or not, enhanced with DynRPG and RPG Maker 2k9 Ultimate. I WAS going to switch to another engine, but at that time I was already halfway done with the game at the time, and redoing everything would've been awful...^^;
Well, can always look up Touhou Fantasy on rpgmaker.net! It is a pretty long game, and I am still ironing it out, so yeah...might also be some bugs here and there since, ya know, 2k3. ^^;;I'm actually debating NOT doing anything else on the wiki too, thinking of just...stopping altogether. But since I'm the only one that really uploads the JP stuff for FFRK (and whatever I get for FFBE in terms of abilities and Limit Bursts), kinda don't leave because of that. Not to mention I'm the ONLY one that gets Mobius and Pictlogica data here...@_@;
Ah yeah, those guys. I have the site where I got all the info for them, but hard to tell what their names really are (I guessed at them and put them in the PFF Enemy page in boss section at the very bottom, where there's the gallery stub and all that).
Oh boy, 2014 version where it probably wasn't nearly as good as it is now. Seriously, the older versions of the game was sooooo bad, and each version before those was always far worse. Now it's pretty solid I think, though there may be TOO MUCH stuff in it, but ya know...trying to avoid putting in anymore than what's there. Still gotta figure out these weapons though, it's hard coming up with something that fits an Arithmetician in 2k3's system that isn't stupidly broken or whatnot...don't know if you'd be willing to try to help on that front? ^^;Fun fact: You don't even need 2k3 to play the game~

- Well, about your most recent edit and its comment, we can't be sure if Loghrif wasn't alive during game as whole -- (s)he isn't credited in the dialogues in the 2.3 scene, but there are more Ascians then. With differences in the flow of time, I guess Mitron and Loghrif could easily be killed between 2.3 and ending of 3.0, and (though I'm not sure if they were killed permanently then) I think Nabriales was the first killed permanently, guessing by Lahabrea's comment in 2.55.--LeafShinobi (talk) 20:39, November 17, 2019 (UTC)
How to news, then?
OK I get it. We’re not this thing or that thing or something else we’re not. You could carry ever on with what we are not. If you want to criticize me, then do so to my face rather than shaming me in public, please.
We’re supposed to be a Final Fantasy fan site, true. I consider it a privilege to be a longtime fan of the series. And to that end, it is also a privilege to be able to report on the games within that series. Yes, things did get out of hand with Shinra News, but few others were interested in keeping up. At that time also, there wasn’t all that much release news to go around. I wanted to fill in the gaps with other stuff that might have had a significant impact on how we play. But even this was too much.
With respect to patch news, I do agree that we need to keep better tabs on this stuff elsewhere. But I’m just one out of a crowd, and cannot expect to keep up with everything I play. That’s where other folks can help, I think.
With that said, we could do a better job flagging this kind of thing on Twitter or Facebook or whatever social suits, but when it is structured in such a way that one or two games grab over 90% of the space, it doesn’t seem to mesh with that we are a Final Fantasy fansite; instead, it looks like we’re ONLY interested in FFXIV or Opera Omnia or...you fill in the blank.
The FFVIIIR patch stood out for me not because I own a PlayStation, but because it took three months to get the first one and fix this one little thing that was driving me nuts as a player. I didn’t really know about the other stuff what got packed in until after I read the bullet points. And it seemed to have impacted everyone who has played, unless you can find me a source that says it was *just* a PS4 glitch.
I’ve actually started a discussion on the list of bugs and glitches page. Mobile games are full of these, so I’d like your input as to what goes on when we cover a bug or a glitch that happens in one. They often patch very quickly if one makes enough noise.
- Sorry for the late reply. Look, I apologize if I may have come across as hostile in that summary, and I'm not going to argue whether it was right or not to do so publicly. It was not any form of personal attack on you as much as it may have seemed, it was just more of a reminder on something we've been saying for months at this point. It gets tiring having to write the constant reminders, then it constantly seems to go on deaf ears. :(
- However the point is, a lot of the main staff have even gone on the record to say patch updates are not news worthy. If we do it, it should be for all titles, not just the ones you or some people play, and that is a strenuous and overall pointless task. When I say this, I mean every title with bugs and hotfixes; FFXI, FFXIV, FFVIII Remastered, FFIX PS4, FFVII PS4, etc, etc, etc. It would be a pointless task, and not needed.
- If you feel that we need them recorded in some fashion make the pages for those if you so desire. I personally feel that could be helpful, and then link it in a "See Also" section of in the main template.
- However, this should not be on the news for our wiki in my personal belief, it would just stuff the news template with pointless bug fix news that can be found on their consoles auto-updating/news feed, or with official sources. We've stated before, it is not the wiki's responsibility to do so. We also even repost some of this on the twitter iirc, mainly so the wiki doesn't have to.
- When it comes to stuff that is news worthy I believe the following things would be: game announcements, trailers, interviews, releases. Also even releases on FFXIV main patch dumps (Since they are treated as a new game), same even goes for big DLCs for console games such as FFXV and DFFNT, etc. And before the question arises, mobile games have their own official news sources for their players to follow, and also mobile game updates with new characters and other events happen much more commonly that say a console game. Stuff like bug fixes, a new character in Dissidia OO, a new job in Mobius, the release of Realm Dungeons in FFRK, etc. However, if anything from these titles could be news worthy, at least in my opinion, it would be the announcement of a story season ending and beginning in a mobile title.

Checking in on the Advisor Program
I'm just checking in with those taking part in the advisors project. Hopefully you will have had some time to see how it works, and have some ideas on how it can be improved!
How has it been working out for you and this wiki? We know that few people who sign up actually ask questions, but have you had any good (or bad) experiences with those who have?
Can you think of any areas we could improve on to make this a better system?
And my final question: looking at the project overall, how many stars out out of 5 would you give it (and why)?

Shutting down hype
OK, so here's why I just added that piece. I was thinking about situations where folks are looking at MMO's, or mobile games, looking at what the Japanese are doing, and saying, "oh my God, they're getting Estinen before us? I'll bet he'll be crazy OP! I want him! I want him! I want him! I'm so pumped!!". That is to say, I'm fine with promoting a character as long as we know he or she is coming. But I don't want to read their story without having spoiler tags around it. I, for one, do not believe in getting folks' hopes up for something, only for there to be a huge letdown. I'd rather not toy with emotions like that. I don't think we're exactly social media, either. We can follow what's going on, track civilized discussions, and so on and so forth. But we have to stick to the facts. And I also don't want to spoil stories for other regions that might be getting it. I'm not sure, but I think we do have wikis in other languages that use us as a source for translation. Of course, I'm using Opera Omnia as an example: two events were released globally a full six months before they got to Japan, where if they have a wiki, their spoiler policy may be different from ours. and let's put it this way — would you really want to know the entire plot of an event before you actually played it out?
That being said, the current Commodore of the Skies event has Aranea seriously overpowered. But her execution speed is extremely slow compared to other units; I personally think they went overboard with the flashy animations, But I'll never put that in my summary of her character if I were to make one. Those who can level her correctly are becoming aware of this, and I've had a few players finish the boss off before I can even get a move in as host. I suppose people are going to do what they're going to do.
- First of all, you can't edit policy unilaterally. If staff don't know something has changed, we're going to make mistakes when trying to properly apply them. Changing policy and hoping we see it is not acceptable. Use the talk page of the policy or a forum to propose it.
- As for the change itself: this change misinterprets both the spoiler policy and how we handle non-English content. If something relevant to scope is not in English, but is available somewhere, it's still in scope, we still cover it. The availability of content also holds absolutely no bearing over if something's a spoiler or not. If discussing it spoils a plot point, it's a spoiler. That's the only condition. Yes, if something is at present Japanese only, it should be noted as such. That does not mean we will or should avoid talking about it.-- Technobliterator TC 22:51, February 19, 2020 (UTC)
- All right, then let me just say this. I think there should be Some kind of safeguard against major spoilage when it comes to these dynamic games. I think we shouldn't be in the business of generating hype. That's what social media is to these games, that's exactly what it does. I would want it to continue to do that, but again, that's not our place here. I didn't see it in writing. I also don't want us to put information in prematurely; because what's to say that six months down the road, they are not going to absolutely nerf their own work? Anyhow, I'm going to quote Final Fantasy VI here: "Fine. Use your own eyes, then decide." We should be writing in such a way as to let players experience the content for themselves. Okay dude, I get it, you don't like spoilers. I completely understand that. However, Techno is right on both accounts.
- 1: Don't change policy without any involvement of the community, you are not the ruler of the site, so you can't do that without general involvement of most of the staff.
- 2: We are not going to avoid talking about anything because it is in Japanese first. This is no different than the older days when the games came out in Japan first, and then we would need to wait a few months until it comes out in the West. We are a wiki encyclopedia ran by a community of people, not a single person blog. You really need to stop this. We give information to the community through our site, and do not need to censor or withhold any information for those who are willing to add it. We even have a template for stuff such as spoilers and pages that contain information not out in English yet. None of this is building up hype, we are providing INFORMATION in general. So knock it off.
I apologize for getting extremely volatile, but seriously, you are free to bring discussion up and if it makes sense, then yeah people will hear you out. I have seen the Omega, and while there are possible influences there are no concrete statements currently that makes this a fact. This is speculation in that regard, and we don't want to spread any possible misinformation. Omega is generally a separate being when compared to the Omega Weapon creature, and in this case lore-wise for FFXIV they are indeed separate when compared to the Allagan weapons. The only place that would serve the validate such claims are the FINAL FANTASY XIV: STORMBLOOD | ART OF THE REVOLUTION - EASTERN MEMORIES - or the upcoming 5.0 artbook. However, until then we should stay clear of trying to say that Omega is a Weapon creature/machine, because he isn't lore wise or bestiary wise. --Miphares (talk) 19:36, February 20, 2020 (UTC)

An all-too-familiar pattern
What I am about to present here is strictly theory, but please, hear me out.
It seems rather unfortunate that Square Enix and its partners have shut down two mobile MMOs back-to-back as they have, but they have. And they are but two in a very long list I've tracked since 2018. The way in which the VP spinoff closed, I've seen twice before:
- King's Knight peaked at around 800k unique installs before abruptly sunsetting in March of '18. This marked my first observations of the "server difficulty" rationale. Not saying whether the same line was used to justify prior closures, but it was the first time I'd actually seen it used. But firsthand, it was a decent, albeit boring game with a gacha that was tough to navigate along with having poor drop rates. Not even two decent collabs could salvage it. The multiplayer was picky until FFXV dropped in on it. And when they turned the collab off, it went right back to being almost completely unworkable.
- And then there was Star Ocean. Decent game, great flow, great graphics, but the gacha was again forked and the pricing was crazy. It closed exactly like Valkyrie in that it took them a year to figure out the game wasn't doing well. Until they made their announcement around this time last year, there was literally no activity on social media. Not a peep. Then the bomb drops, and suddenly about 1 million players are left in the lurch. They even botched the closure when the internal clock went off a day early. For Japanese players, though, the game continues into a third season. Thus far, I haven't seen anything indicating it should end service.
Given those two experiences, and a bunch of others we've tracked right here on this wiki, Square Enix seems to follow a script when it manages a mobile MMO:
- First, pick an obscure franchise that fans might be clamoring for.
- Throw together a mobile game and host it yourself.
- Leave the premise dull and flat.
- Don't promote it.
- Add a drive-ya-nuts gacha with insane pricing for very little gain.
- Bleed money so badly that the higher-ups have little recourse but to close.
- And last but not least, throw your loyal players under the bus when you have to shut down.
And somewhere between steps six and seven, players usually get 90 days to finish things up. That didn't happen with VP (<60 days). For the record, I hadn't sunk a dime into that game. I don't think it's our job to pick up the slack (promote a game) when it's a mess. It just screams bad management; and were it me, I'd have teams all taken out to the woodshed and fired at worst. It also wouldn't hurt for them to tell the truth every once in a while, rather than hiding behind a cookie-cutter excuse.

Since you're usually the one checking up on news these days, I wanted to let you know what was behind the latest headline.
Approximately mid afternoon Wednesday, services for all Square Enix mobile games went down hard. The company calls it a network error, and so forced all servers into a maintenance mode until early morning PDT yesterday. But heck, FFCC is still on time. - Of course I do! :D Hero's Pride (ヒーローズプライド) is the name yes, for the player version. According to the Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep Ultimania enemy section on pg. 495, it refers to it as Reverse/Unseen Omnislash (裏超究武神覇斬), which is the dark version of Hero's Pride essentially. Anyways, I am only really aware of the Japanese side of stuff, and it seems the Japanese name comes from the Japanese PS manual. However, when it comes to the English version, you may have to get in touch with Xeno, since iirc he's the one who uploaded all the Erhgeiz stuff. Fun fact: 裏超究武神覇斬 is the name of Omnislash in FFT. And according to FFDic, that is the name of it in FFT, Ehrgeiz, and KHBBS.

RE:RE: Song titles
Ah. don't worry about it. Everyone knows the rule of translations: "Get 5 translators working on it, you'll get 5 different translations." I do have one related question though. The song pages have "Banshin [primal] Tōmetsusen" translated to "Foreign God [primal] Showdown", while the soundtracks pages have it as "Heathen God [primal] Showdown". Knowing only the story, "Heathen" feels more correct to me, but I don't know the language, so I could be wrong. Google gives "Barbarian", just to make life more difficult. - You're fine, you don't need to stop editing images, silly goose. Just try to switch to "Source Mode" when editing. Trust me, the text may look overwhelming, but it's really simple. Just put in an image in an article like so (just remove the spaces):

Adding innate elements
Good to see somebody proactive on the WotV stuff. Thanks. Anyhow, was wondering if somebody could get into the infobox code and add something for each character's innate element. Interestingly, the innate element determines a character's strengths, vulnerabilities, and skills. However, it does not necessarily lock a character to that particular element. No I play the game, I've lost track of the elemental ring. It's like "lightning, beats water, beats fire, beats ice, beats wind, beats earth, beats lightning". Only light and dark battle head-to-head. And then you've a really strange weapon ring that I can't seem to pin down. Yuna, for instance, is weakest against pointy things like spears and arrows. It's probably a simple thing, but that box looks huge and I don't really want to mess with it. If you think it would be a good idea, than by all means. Thanks again for all that you do. Hello. A small request when editing in the future, be it for Final Fantasy VI or any other relevant title. In the mainspace, instead of saying "the defunct mobile and Steam version(s)", please say "the 2014 mobile and Steam version(s)." Aside from the wording sounding better, lack of availability isn't a concern when mentioning other ports of games that are no longer accessible, and the Pixel Remasters themselves may become defunct someday. Tbh I've only seen one Desperation Attack in all my playthroughs of vanilla before this, but that was like back in 2007 (I was 15?) when playing the GBA version when Locke Mirage Dived the Air Force to death lol. I've seen more Desperation Attacks used during my playthroughs of FFVI T-Edition years ago.
Anyways, yeah, one goal when I take screenshots usually is to have variation in them, I'm kind of art buff (art/art historian major here), so I try to make sure I can always do something with pictures to attract attention, either variation of backgrounds or having them in some way be the central focus on the image. --Miphares (talk) 19:30, 9 March 2022 (UTC)
Zell as "Monk"
Hey Miphares, sorry to bother you, but the reason I moved Zell back to the main "Appearances" portion of the Monk (job) page is twofold: for one he has moves shared with Tifa and Sabin in his Limit Break that is clearly based on Blitz (Final Fantasy VI) and he's about as established as Tifa as a Monk, both in a world without "Jobs". Second he's referred to as a Monk in Final Fantasy Record Keeper, in particular noteworthiness are his awakened states achieved through the "My Final Punch" and "Awoken Burning Rave" Soul Breaks, which grant him the "Awoken Monk Mode" and "Dual Awoken Monk Mode I: Zell", just like Tifa's awakened state "Dual Awoken Monk Mode I: Tifa" gets triggered by her Awoken Meteor Arts Soul Break. I feel that that's justification enough to keep Zell in the main section rather than "Allusions".
