Uploading wallpapers.[edit source]

While I appreciate your efforts, please keep in mind that Fair Use only covers what it takes to convey information. Uploading all the wallpapers in different sizes violates this. Since you're the uploader, I'm going to tell people to hold off on doing anything about it to let you backtrack and choose which one of each style you want to keep on the wiki. But please do backtrack. Otherwise other people are going to mark things for deletion without your input and those things will have to be deleted. Hi :)[edit source]

Hi there, thanks for helping me editing FF Type-0 weapons article...I was the one who created the article since this game is the only one which English localization is yet to come..btw, the reason I (accidentally XD) abandoned it because I'm not good in Japanese so I can't understand anything in the game(except the characters),another thing is I'm not good in making a tables since I joined this wiki about few months ago and know nothing XD.....I like how you enlisted the weapons' name altogether with their Japanese name(and their specialty :))..nice to meet you :)--Nur Fadzila 12:24, June 17, 2012 (UTC)

While we're on the subject of Type-0 - song lyrics[edit source]

Do you know, or otherwise have access to a source that lists, the lyrics to the various orchestral songs? I assume the Ultimania would, but I don't know if you have it. (If you do, and my assumption is wrong, correct me.) Firebird (talk) BlackMage-bd-icon.png 14:03, January 20, 2014 (UTC)

Recent renders[edit source]

Where did you find the renders for the supporting characters in Agito? I've looked everywhere. Not saying they're not genuine, just wondering. Am sure now that SQEX will be bringing both this and Type-0 west within the next couple of years. --Crystal Tear (talk) 20:53, March 6, 2014 (UTC)

They were found in the online Famitsu article posted here, since that was around the day the first key visual for Agito appeared. —Mierna 00:53, March 7, 2014 (UTC)

just curious[edit source]

Well, when I first saw the category only letter 'G' and the latter half of the alphabet were in there. I looked up pages like Battle With the Four Fiends and Blinded By Light where the Music category was replaced with all the game-specific categories. Then all the universal recurring themes are categorized in Musical Themes instead of Music. So wildly guessing, I'm just taking after the pattern... Mierna 23:11, October 26, 2014 (UTC)

I can provide them to you if you don't! Just ask me! -- Eco (talk) 18:45, February 18, 2018 (UTC)
Eco, you can provide the stickers. Also, if there's anymore quotes to add, there's the sample voice clips that can be bought with Dissidia Points, 3 or 5 per character. The quotes are written in the character guide when they're unlocked, and we can put Japanese/Romaji/English format. Mierna 23:37, February 20, 2018 (UTC)

The Lost Chapters[edit source]

What are we going to do with them? Do we write above the current event articles? Eco (talk) 11:00, April 26, 2018 (UTC)

The idea I've had for a while:
  • Update the main article with the Lost Chapter data (quests, cutscenes, rewards) and the info from the initial event run goes to a /archive subpage. (The basis is that the Lost Chapter version is more relevant for players who missed the events and it confirms these characters into permanent storyline status.) We still gotta create the other story chapter locations for OO but since Lost Chapters are now additional story chapters, they would be treated as such instead of as limited-time events. What do you think?
  • And speaking of story chapters... those with locations can go in articles named after the location, but what about Interlude? Mierna 16:31, April 26, 2018 (UTC)
I agree with the idea of moving the time-limited event info into a "/Legacy" or an "/Archive" subpage and substituing it with the LC info. Also, about the other story chapter locations, so sorry, that project is on pause since I'm on college, however, in a month or so, I'll have my summer holidays, so I can finally resume with that.
About the Interlude's location. Cait Sith called it "Neo Midgar" ("ミッドガル改", Revised Midgar. A obvious pun to FFVII's Midgar, Bahamut and Neo Bahamut's JP names), however since that is based on one character's dialogue and was never used again, I'm quite against naming it like that. Just like I refer to OO's World as "Garden of the Gods" thanks to Kuja's event, but that isn't the official name. Although, I think we'll know the name of OO's planet soon enough. -- Eco (talk) 18:56, April 26, 2018 (UTC)

Pardon me for jumping in, but I was wondering if you could help flesh out the article titled "Lost Chapter" with as much information as can, please. I know you've been doing quite a bit of hard work with this game, and it's much appreciated. Swordzmanp236 (talk) 18:27, April 29, 2018 (UTC)

Today I should have all the images for the Japanese LCs, and tomorrow Celes will join the fun. Is there anything else you want me to take a screenshot of? -- Eco (talk) 10:15, May 7, 2018 (UTC)

There's a lot of events I've probably forgotten about unless they become permanent! I want to say World of Illusions banners (summons, artifacts) since they're permanent in JP and GL took a first step with permanent Ifrit. We gotta get a jump on those one day...
(Also, I apologize if the battle info for time-limited events hasn't been getting updated. ...I'm hoping it's probably the same in the LC version, just split up?) Mierna 20:11, May 7, 2018 (UTC)

Cyan in DFFOO[edit source]

Just wanted to let you know that Cyan has retained the Shakespearean (Early Modern) English dialect he became famous for in his Ch. 8 debut. Now, I knoweth that mayhap it may vex thee to no end, but as thou wilt likely make his quotes, thou shouldst retain the spirit of the olde text. Just a suggestion. Swordzmanp236 (talk) 03:52, June 1, 2018 (UTC)

What do you mean precisely? I just transcribe what's written in the game, no original lines from me. Mierna 04:22, June 1, 2018 (UTC)
OK. so you might not have read Shakespeare, but let's put it this way. Cyan carries over from VI the same tendency to use archaic English, complete with its use of "thou", "thee", "thy", "ye", &c. as well as conjugating verb forms (e.g "I have/thou hast/he hath"). It is slightly more difficult to write that way from present English, but it stems from archaic Japanese. It's one of those qualities that sticks with the character, much like "You spoony bard!" does to Tellah. We should probably keep it in mind when writing Cyan's transcriptions. Swordzmanp236 (talk) 05:08, June 1, 2018 (UTC)
Yes, I'm aware of Cyan's speaking style. But I can't change what's in the game unless it's corrected. That's on the translators if that's how they chose to write Cyan's lines. Mierna 06:09, June 1, 2018 (UTC)
I suppose what I'm saying is that when you translate the Japanese, you can then try to think of how a sentence would play out in EME. For example, in the dialogue after defeating the Magitek Armor, his lines are:
  • "Grr! I should have known not to get into one of those mechanical monstrosities!"
  • "Worry not about me. Art thou hurt?"
  • "I am ashamed of my behavior. I beg thee for forgiveness."
  • "Incidentally, Terra, what is thy relationship with these warriors?"
  • "I was summoned to another world? And that detestable Kefka is here as well? It seems I shall have my revenge sooner than I thought thanks to this curious twist of fate."
  • (An exchange ensues about the poisoning of Doma. He vows to move forward.)
  • "Thou art like family to me. I shall protect ye with my life!"
During his exchanges, you might even see a "wherefore" or two. EME also uses "mine" as a possessive before words with vowels, and "my" before consonants. The translators seem to really have done their homework; it's on a par with the smartphone version of Dragon Quest in this respect. Swordzmanp236 (talk) 07:53, June 1, 2018 (UTC)
I'm...not translating the game? I'm in no way qualified to translate full lines from cutscenes. I typed those lines because I play the cutscenes and type every line as it appears. I'm only keeping a record of how OO's content is translated for Global, with updated terms when possible, which goes on the wiki because it's an official localization. I'm aware of Cyan's speaking style in this game and FFVI, but I'm not the one translating it. So I still don't understand what you're asking me to do. Mierna 23:53, June 1, 2018 (UTC)
And therein lies the rub. The battle quotes have a lot of that de gozaru suffix/verb in them, If he ever finished a battle with the phrase "you are not worthy" for instance, then in keeping with the spirit of the character, you should translate that instead to "thou art not worthy", i.e. converting the Japanese you hear into the appropriate EME phrasing. That make sense now? Swordzmanp236 (talk) 03:11, June 2, 2018 (UTC)

Bravely Default Translations[edit source]

Hello, thankee for cross-linking some of the English terms in Bravely Default translations to existing articles. If only we had enough time to do it for all entries there, but we are humans after all and need time for many more important things.
Speaking of translations, there is one entry I would like to add under Terms, but I no longer have with me the BDFF cartridge I borrowed as reference to provide nearly a hundred missing Japanese entries (and almost an equal amount of JPN/ENG entries not previously present, like Nemeses, Compounding effects, and Japan-only event weapons/armor). The entry I would like to see added is "Vestaling", even though it is not separately listed in D's Journal as a term but IMO is almost as important as "巫女/Vestal". I exhaustively searched the term's translation via Google and got no results, but I remember the word "vestaling" was widely present in in-game dialogues but only sporadically mentioned in the Journal. Do you think you can handle that translation, or is that task best left to someone with more time in his/her hands? SilSinn9801 (talk) 18:31, July 27, 2018 (UTC)

Will keep a lookout for that term! While I’m on a Bravely binge again with Bravely Second, there’s a lot of translation tables I want to add and revise. Mierna 19:03, July 27, 2018 (UTC)
Got your translation. Thankee! But you forgot to sign your comment in my talk page with the four tildes. SilSinn9801 (talk) 15:39, August 17, 2018 (UTC)
BTW, given that you said there "shrine maiden" rather than "priestess", does that imply that you immigrated to the Asias from Gensokyo? SilSinn9801 (talk) 15:39, August 17, 2018 (UTC)

DFFOO gameplay article help[edit source]

OK, so I've written this article on Dissidia Final Fantasy Opera Omnia gameplay and could use some help with choice image cuts, captions, etc. to flesh it out and "put a face" on all this descriptive prose. Also wondering if things should be in a different order than currently presented. What I've written thus far is straight eidetic memory as an everyday player, but I figure I'd ask a veteran for help with the details. Care to take a spin? DFFOO unused images[edit source]

Hey, just letting you know a few of the DFFOO icon images you uploaded are appearing in Special:UnusedImages. Can you place these on pages? Thanks!--Magicite-ffvi-ios.png Technobliterator TC 13:05, November 26, 2018 (UTC)

Will do! I'll just put them on the hosting page if anything. Mierna 16:55, November 26, 2018 (UTC)
Thank you! Ideally try and put them on pages if you can (even if it's just a gallery somewhere), because I'd like to keep the hosting pages as small as possible. We still definitely need image hosting pages, but I'd like to move away from them being a catch-all, because if an image can't be used on a page then it should just be deleted instead of left on a hosting page forever. Not saying that'll happen in this case, but want to avoid a scenario where we leave an image on there for years if that makes sense!--Magicite-ffvi-ios.png Technobliterator TC 18:43, November 26, 2018 (UTC)

DFFOO enhancement table[edit source]

Thanks for the assist on Sparkstrike, chief! You're welcome to use that little table as a template if you like, but looking at it now, I'd probably swap columns 1 and 4 to get a better read out of it. You're faster than I, so if it works for you, would you mind making the switch? Thanks. Swordzmanp236 (talk) 07:18, December 2, 2018 (UTC)

DFFOO equipment lists[edit source]

The new format for DFFOO equipment lists looks really good, but a few things:

  • JP names: IMO it's pointless to list them since we already have Translations subpages (that are randomly updated TBH) so I think there's no need to include them.
  • Weapons' ability effects: the format you want to use is not actually that great. if you put the following in raw code for example:
Sky-Splitting Dragon Claw: Raises the potency of Whirlwind.
Raises the potency further when the target is broken.
Grants Small Physical Attack up for 10 turns.
Raises the potency of Commando F and extends its duration.

The line "Sky-Splitting Dragon Claw: Raises the potency of Whirlwind." will correctly display on the first line, but

"Raises the potency further when the target is broken.
Grants Small Physical Attack up for 10 turns.
Raises the potency of Commando F and extends its duration."

Will be treated as a new, single paragraph with no line breaks. Even putting line breaks there is of little help as it will still create a new paragraph starting with the example sentence "Raises the potency further when the target is broken." If you really want to have new lines you would need to put everything in a single paragraph and create a line break after every sentence. I think that asterisks are more efficient and pleasing to the eye. Heck, Lv. 60 Crystal Awakening abilities list each effect starting with a middot which IMO is better than just a line break.

Reiterating, dump JP names from equipment lists and put them on Translation subpages and list weapon ability effects with asterisks.—Kaimi (999,999 CP/5 TP) ∙ 12:18, December 2, 2018 (UTC)

Alisaie fill-in[edit source]

The girl's a trip and a half, let me tell you.

If you work on her article at all, the command tables could get weird. Her attacks use her overhead gauge to determine what's used.

  • Starts with Melee HP attack
  • BRV attack=White+1, Black+1, HP attack changed to Enchanted Riposte with 1-4 charges stored (1 BRV+HP, all mana discharged by 1 with HP attack). With 5-7 charges, becomes Enchanted Redoublement (3 BRV+HP, all mana discharged by 5).
  • Veraero becomes Verstone after use, White+2.
    • Verstone=White+3, Dualcast buff, reverts to Veraero.
  • Verthunder becomes Verfire after use, Black+2
    • Verfire=Black+3, Dualcast, reverts to Verthunder.

Now, here's the tricky part. Alisaie needs to equip BOTH of her CS Extension abilities to use her final spells. If Enchanted Redoublement worked, then she can use Verholy and/or Verflare, which add +4 to White or Black and revert them to their mid spells.

Phew! Now, how could we put all that into tables? Swordzmanp236 (talk) 06:56, December 19, 2018 (UTC)

Good thing Global Twitter made a visual guide! Definitely, we should give her a paragraph explaining her gameplay style like Ace. There is still a lot to revise in command tables, and right now I'm just focusing on getting 100+ characters' gameplay tables up there even if it means copypasting everything from the DB. I would focus on including the requirements for abilities to be available, since JP's newest characters are taking this approach a lot. Mierna 07:17, December 19, 2018 (UTC)

Manikin Weapons and EX+ weapons[edit source]

What are we going to do with the two new weapons tiers? -- Eco (talk) 13:15, February 1, 2019 (UTC)

Manikin weapons could go in the Rank 5 category. The question I have for EX+ (and armor+): should they stay in the same section under their base forms, or go into a new section since they're an evolved tier that starts from Level 1 again? Mierna 20:42, February 17, 2019 (UTC)
That's my same question. Since this isn't a normal evolution of the EX weapons and 90CP armors, since they changed things A LOT by the mere process of evolution I've been wondering if a new category should be added. The problem is that despite acting like 'em, they are not 6-star based weapons and armors. -- Eco (talk) 22:57, February 17, 2019 (UTC)

Manikin weapons be here. The only Catch-22 seems to be that everybody else has to complete raid missions in order to get them. Anyway, it looks like they use manikin character names in the possessive from NT. Should be easy enough to fix. Just thought you should know. Swordzmanp236 (talk) 21:13, October 15, 2019 (UTC)

Manikins in DFFOO[edit source]

Since the previous thread talked about manikins, I thought you might be able to help with updating the DFFOO variant section. Two issues make this a chore to update:

  1. Lots of OO-exclusive characters. I believe we have at least 50 out of the 83+ that aren't already part of NT, including a couple that came to NT post-release. Every one released has something that'll pop up in time.
  2. Silver is but their novice form. There's a progression that starts with azure, then copper green, then gold, and finally (at the moment) fuchsia. Would you be willing to try and crack the code?

Just to make things a little more colorful, I would suggest grabbing some of the colored avatars and mixing them through the chart.

As always, thanks for your time. Swordzmanp236 (talk) 23:16, February 17, 2019 (UTC)

Good to see you back[edit source]

Subject pretty much says it all. But I’m wondering: you wouldn’t happen to have the story script for Where to Go, would you? Given the other pages on events, I think that’s all we need to fill out for now. Thanks. Swordzmanp236 (talk) 19:51, June 28, 2019 (UTC)

Hey, thanks for the welcome back! (I was on vacation and left my computer behind.) Yup, I'll get onto the script for Rinoa's event, and resume regular DFFOO updating! Mierna 20:29, June 28, 2019 (UTC)

Another brain dump: realization.[edit source]

Figured I’d leave this with you, but do you have much more to add on the new-to-the-world realization feature? I’ve already put up the short-form stuff. And how are they coming up with such bizarre terms?

From what I gather, it’s basically a second life for EX gear, including 20 AT armor. As with a normal limit break, you’ll get new powers from it, but you effectively lose the outward stat boosts and start from.Level 1 in exchange for the higher base CP and slightly better stats you then break again to raise. Only then, after you’ve broken three times, do you get that real nice purple color and a seven star rating. And you need new trinkets to even get started. As of right now, Cloud is the only one who gets it. I think I saw Terra as well. Yeesh, it’s gonna be a trip! Swordzmanp236 (talk) 21:37, November 6, 2019 (UTC)

Fit for an admiral[edit source]

Lots of stuff still to fill in for Lady A now that she's here, but there's an interesting tidbit that I don't know where to place. Seems all of her spears are named in German, so they work out as follows:

  • Eisenspeer (iron spear)
  • Stoss Spear [Stoßspeer] (Thrust Spear)
  • Bohrenspeer (drill spear/boring spear)

Hopefully you're ready for the rest of her data. Best of luck in your pulls! Swordzmanp236 (talk) 09:54, February 19, 2020 (UTC)

Burst Mode be here[edit source]

Hope you're ready. There's a lot to unpack. It was a pain in the neck trying to get Squall's BT, but I have it. Hope you don't mind my use of a previous table to get this one. If you think we should add the Japan exclusives, then please head on over to Burst Mode (Opera Omnia) to check things out. Thanks again for your time. Swordzmanp236 (talk) 17:07, 8 August 2020 (UTC)
