Ultima > Meltdown Edit
Meltdown is not stronger than Ultima. Meltdown has 138 power, Ultima has 150, and Ultima does non-elemental damage while Meltdown is elemental and thus can be absorbed. Doreiku Kuroofangu 22:52, December 22, 2009 (UTC)
Never thought about that... I really only judge things by the damage it deals these days FF has gotten just that simple these days. MadHatter1284 22:54, December 22, 2009 (UTC)
- I know, in FF6 especially you'll easily get to the point that pretty much any spell does 9999 damage. Doreiku Kuroofangu 22:59, December 22, 2009 (UTC)
Read his Bestiary entry before you do that:
In the course of his rule, he submitted to avarice, and the darkness took his heart, transforming him until he was both evil and corrupt. 'Then in his cowardice did he bind a Goddess of the Demesne of Ice, and using her as a living shield, he challenged the gods. Defeated before their might, he fell screaming into the depths of hell, there to be imprisoned for eternity.
... Whoops. I forgot this series is full of transvestites MadHatter1284 21:06, January 9, 2010 (UTC)
- ... Not a transvestite, simply a man wearing a woman as a human shield, that's all. Diablocon 21:09, January 9, 2010 (UTC)
RQ in Talk Edit
Could you please change the RQ template in your Talkpage box to the more generic Q template? It makes the header grow and makes the layout look weird...
Anime Tip Edit
Have you seen Makai Senki Disgaea? If not, you should watch it!
Hmm, never heard of it. I'll get to it after I finish Zero no Tsukaima. MadHatter1284 16:54, February 7, 2010 (UTC)
Neon Genesis Evangelion? According to BlueHighwind, that's the best Anime ever, and i can't say i really disagree with that :D Even though I've only seen up to Episode 16, It's already awesome Uppfinnarn 17:08, February 7, 2010 (UTC)
- Hmm. I tried watching NGE once. Never made it past episode two. I found it rather boring. The OP is awesome though. MadHatter1284 17:41, February 7, 2010 (UTC)
I suppose I'll have to watch it then. Gintama references it a number of times, and I'd rather get all the references rather than just a few. For example, in episode 150, they ripped off the ending! :D MadHatter1284 17:51, February 7, 2010 (UTC)
Yes, that one. I was about to kill myself when they lied to me like that! MadHatter1284 19:33, February 7, 2010 (UTC)
Gintama Episode 150. They said it was the 'last episode' due to lack of funds, then presented the final episode in a dramatic manner. But, since it gave Shinsuke some screentime, it was well worth it. Then... a chain of events led to the series being saved by 'That Thing from Jump' after they presented a bunch of fake final episodes. One of them being a ripoff of Neon Genesis Evangelion. There's a video of it right here. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fxE2zS5U_NM
Haha, that's a scene from one of Shinji's mental breakdowns(he has a lot of those; that guy seriously is more mentally unstable than Cloud Strife) :D And the music playing in the background is "Zankoku na tenshi no thesis", the main theme of Neon Genesis Evangelion Uppfinnarn 16:46, February 8, 2010 (UTC)
Lol. Zankoku na Tenshi no Teeze. I remember when they made Hinagiku sing that in Hayate no Gotoku Season II :D MadHatter1284 22:42, February 8, 2010 (UTC)
It was added in; showing the original would ruin the joke :D MadHatter1284 02:47, February 11, 2010 (UTC)
I've got several. Shakugan no Shana, D.Gray-Man, Zero no Tsukaima, Hayate no Gotoku, pretty much anything I've got on that long list in my user page. I mostly browse through random stuff at animeseason.com for new stuff. MadHatter1284 09:57, February 20, 2010 (UTC)
Have you noticed that Episode 8 of Baka to Test to Shoukanjuu is also ripoff Evangelion? The way of presenting the episode title is just like Evangelion, the principal sits in the exact same pose as Gendo Ikari does, the way hideki's being transforms after it is defeated is just like the Replica Evangelions in End of Evangelion, and Aki's way of going down on four limbs and crying is just like Shinji in Evangelion :D Uppfinnarn 18:38, March 2, 2010 (UTC)
What don't you like about Toaru Kagaku no Railgun? Misaka is a better character than Touma, Shirai gets more screentime, and while Saten isn't the best character ever, Uiharu makes up for it... So why have you put an asterisk on Railgun?
Because they cancelled Index to create a spinoff. Railgun was too cheesy and soft. Index was full of sadists and sex offenders. MadHatter1284 04:24, April 16, 2010 (UTC)
That they cancelled Index was strange, but they didn't cancel it to make Railgun, they made Railgun as a fanservice after they finished Index. I'm not sure if the Manga version is unfinished, but I started reading it yesterday on onemanga.com so I'll find out soon enough... Ending the season in a half-cliffhanger and not making a Season 2 is strange no matter how you look at it though.
This may sound like a stupid question, but, how are you supposed to watch The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya/Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu? I tried watching the 2009 Remake, and I felt like I was stepping in somewhere in the middle of an ongoing series, despite both Wikipedia and Anime News Network says it's a remake. I also hear that the first series was aired in a random order, and they now air them in the correct order. Do I need to watch the 2006 version first to understand anything of it, or is it supposed to make no sense in the start?
You could try the original haruhi on animeseason. It actually gives you the chronological episode order. The new Haruhi, however was extremely poorly made. 8 of the episodes are just slightly modified versions of the same one. MadHatter1284 16:58, April 16, 2010 (UTC)
I just finished the Manga version of Index, and guess what? It's also unfinished. It's actually fortunate that they at least had enough sense not to do like DNAngel and make up a fake ending, but instead just leave it unfinished.
Damn. Manga does Cliffhangers too? That sucks. Right now, I'm working on the Gundam series (Yeah.... I Got a LOT to watch. Watching Gundam Wing right now) MadHatter1284 22:11, May 15, 2010 (UTC)
There is a light novel series too, that apparently is longer. Azureus Izzard and Sherry Cromwell never appeared in the Manga, neither did Hinegami ("Deep Blood")... Apparently the Manga is "Ongoing - Irregular" according to Onemanga.com :( Uppfinnarn 08:37, May 16, 2010 (UTC)
No Cromwell? Thank god. The limits of her ugliness shouldn't even be legal. MadHatter1284 23:31, May 16, 2010 (UTC)
No. I never really enjoyed Clannad that much. MadHatter1284 19:52, May 17, 2010 (UTC)
Seen Ichiban Ushiro no Daimaou? It's a currently airing series that reminds of Index and that's actually pretty good, even with the large amount of ecchi. Animeseason doesn't follow it for some reason, but you can find it on veoh.com Uppfinnarn 14:04, May 18, 2010 (UTC)
You know, there's a reason why Clannad ~After Story~ is ranked #1 at Anime News Network's Anime Toplist. Seriously, try watching it without almost crying at least once. It has an atmosphere that rivals the Manga version of D.N.Angel, and a depth and serousness that makes Clannad look like Ponyo in comparisation Uppfinnarn 14:59, May 26, 2010 (UTC)
Yeah. I am watching angel beats. I also loved zero no tsukaima. Angel Beats is pretty good.
Index 2 Edit
In october already? Awesome! I hope Last Order and Shirai gets some more screentime too :) If it follows the Manga prequel somewhat, there will be a trip to Rome, an abducted Index and a guy trying to steal Index' books, I don't know more than that... Which series will you follow in the Summer Season? Uppfinnarn 07:56, June 25, 2010 (UTC)
I hoped it would be earlier than october, but at least it's not completely dead. I also heard another Shakugan no Shana season will be coming around some time late this year. Another screwed up rumor states that there will be an anime remake of one of the Code Geass manga spinoffs. It's most likely to be Nightmare of Nunally. Stuff doesn't follow the manga well these days, it's gotten a lot of shows with great potential dropped, such as Pandora Hearts. MadHatter1284 19:08, June 25, 2010 (UTC)
Shakugan no Shana III has been confirmed to be in production or at least planning, but considering J.C Staff has Ookami-san to Shichinin no Nakama-tachi in the summer season, Index 2 in the Autumn season, then Shana 3 would come in the winter or spring seasons most likely... And there's the Railgun special announced that will most likely air somewhere in connection to Index 2. Uppfinnarn 19:18, June 25, 2010 (UTC)
I agree. Season 2 in Shana was better than Season 1. Especially the opening themes. I wonder what stuff Index will come up with in Season 2. I liked the openings in Index. MadHatter1284 00:08, June 26, 2010 (UTC)
Then Shana III could be even better :D I didn't really like Masterpiece, the second OP of Index, but PSI-Missing was great! Which shows will you follow in the Summer Season? Uppfinnarn 08:52, June 26, 2010 (UTC)
More than likely a bunch of Gundam anime aired 20 years ago :P I just finished After War Gundam X. It was pretty damn good. MadHatter1284 00:21, June 27, 2010 (UTC)
Entertainment in general started dropping in quality by a boatload ever since mid 2008. I have yet to see much anime that I really "fell in love with." I fell in love with a few Gundam shows however, and there's at least 16 gundams already. There was a lot more things to see back in the day, and I look to expand my list of anime to a certain extent. Going back 10 years is the best way to do that, right now.
By the way, the new Shakugan no Shana S episode that came out a few days ago surprised me. I thought I'd hate it at first, but it wasn't bad (It had what I liked in it: anticipation of a sex scene) MadHatter1284 23:39, June 27, 2010 (UTC)
Shana S has been running for almost a year, and only has 3 episodes... Even less than Bakemonogatari18.104.22.168 06:39, June 28, 2010 (UTC)
Shana S is an OVA. OVAs tend to almost never release an episode. Gundam Unicorn is only going to release one episode a year, and it's going to be 6 episodes long. That's a bit worse. MadHatter1284 18:31, June 28, 2010 (UTC)
Have you seen Keroro Gunsou? It has the same kind of ridiculous humor as Gintama, and a lot of Gundam references (Keroro builds Gundam models all the time, and is too busy to invade the earth, for example). Animeseason doesn't have it since it's licensed by Funimation, but Good Anime does. Uppfinnarn 14:25, June 29, 2010 (UTC)
I hate funimation. Because of them, some anime are damn near impossible to find on the internet. MadHatter1284 17:26, June 29, 2010 (UTC)
And their ridiculous translations too... Translating Shakugan no Shana to "Red-Eyes Shana" or something like that was fairly accurate, but to translate "Baka to Test to Shoukanjuu" to "Baka & Test: Summon the Beast" was just wrong, the correct translation would have been "Idiot(s), Test(s) and Summoned Being(s)". Or Translating "Ichiban Ushiro no Daimaou" to "Demon King Daimaou" was even more incorrect, since they translated the wrong side of the word - the correct translating would have been something like "The Demon Lord on the seat furthest back in the classroom" (a bit long...), while their translation means "Demon King Demon King" >.< Uppfinnarn 18:12, June 29, 2010 (UTC)
Comment on Keroro: It's a bit hard to take a series seriously where the main character is a space frog, who ends his sentences with "~de arimasu" to boot. And where the episode name-screen contains the phrase "SUBTITLE DE ARIMASU" in large starwars-style letters on the background :D Uppfinnarn 18:15, June 29, 2010 (UTC)
I got up to about episode 5 on keroro. The gundam references are all to the original Mobile Suit Gundam, not anything I spent watching. Finding the originally gundam subbed is nearly impossible. MadHatter1284 00:52, June 30, 2010 (UTC)
If you want more sadistic Accelerator, read the Railgun manga. It's a lot better than the half-assed anime adaption. For example, there is one scene where Accelerator tears the leg off of one of the MISAKA Sisters, then crushes her under a truck, all while laughing maniacally. Uppfinnarn 20:54, June 30, 2010 (UTC)
lol. Me too. XD. MadHatter1284 07:57, July 1, 2010 (UTC)
Do you know what you get if you take Shakugan no Shana, pick out everyone's personalities and fill the unused space with clichés, stereotypes and predictability? Correct answer: Twilight Uppfinnarn 15:35, July 2, 2010 (UTC)
And they have a voice cast of Wilhelmina from Shana/Kanzaki from Index as Ryoko, Saten from Railgun/Fumino from Mayoi Neko Overrun as Ringo(who is like a hybrid of Little Red Riding Hood and Shirai from Index), Haku from Spirited Away/Daisuke from D.N.Angel as Ryoshi and Shirai from Index as Narrator - said narrator also keeps commenting on how flat Ringo and Ryoko are Uppfinnarn 20:20, July 3, 2010 (UTC)
