Intro sections for character pages

Hey Kelt. While doing the April Fools joke editing pages, and looking at character pages, something stood out to me: have you ever noticed that the intro sections for our character pages are a bit barebones? I feel like they give extremely small introductions to the character and it's a missed opportunity. Something like I did on w:c:ratchetandclank:Nefarious might be more suited for us for major characters: a quick paragraph/sentence or two about the character's role in some appearances, a paragraph briefly summarizing their history (our version would have to exclude spoilers of course), and then one summarizing their personality/abilities. Feels like it would be better to have more fleshed out intros for those who don't want to read the whole page. What do you think?--Magicite-ffvi-ios.png Technobliterator TC 15:25, April 3, 2018 (UTC)

I think FFXIII characters have pretty good character intros here, though I've sometimes pared them for spoilers, all listing briefly what they do in every game and the official descriptions at the top describe them as persons. Character articles are visited a lot so it would be good for them to be premium. Your expansion ideas sound good to me.Keltainentoukokuu (talk) 16:34, April 3, 2018 (UTC)
Awesome. I think I'll rewrite a couple of the character page intros, and then you can take a look at them. After that I'll redo the intros of characters as I come across them and as I get time. I'm hoping that if I do a few of the big ones then other editors will pick up on it and apply it for the rest of the big characters. I think this can be done for major characters such as the playable characters and the antagonists (or at least for playable characters with a story role, so not Umaro or Gogo).--Magicite-ffvi-ios.png Technobliterator TC 17:27, April 5, 2018 (UTC)
I've expanded a couple pages, based on your adjustments to Terra's page. Let me know if this is good (or feel free to edit the ones I've done if you would like to change them) and if so then I think I can do this for a few more of the big character pages.--Magicite-ffvi-ios.png Technobliterator TC 21:58, April 6, 2018 (UTC)
Looks good to me. FFVI doesn't really have "character classes" so there is not much that can be said there, everyone just has their one ability that is special.Keltainentoukokuu (talk) 13:08, April 7, 2018 (UTC)
Partly related, but shouldn't we split up the FFXV story sections into sub sections? No idea what to call the headers though.--Magicite-ffvi-ios.png Technobliterator TC 18:34, April 11, 2018 (UTC)
For FFXV some have story sections are by release like Nyx Ulric, while Lunafreya Nox Fleuret has "FFVII style" sections. There's the "alt ending" one for articles where applicable. When Episode Ardyn comes out that could be its own story section if it's a prequel for his page, the other DLC will probably overlap with current stories.
As long as it's all readable and chronological and it's good to me!Keltainentoukokuu (talk) 19:12, April 11, 2018 (UTC)
Yeah, I think going with Lunafreya's "FFVII style" sections is best by far (tbh I would rather do that for all games). Makes sense as there's a bit of events that cross over between releases.--Magicite-ffvi-ios.png Technobliterator TC 19:14, April 11, 2018 (UTC)

34 percent of AMERICANS don't celebrate Halloween Nobody in Australia celebrates Halloween Nobody in Poland celebrates Halloween Nobody in South Africa celebrates Halloween Nobody in Malaysia celebrates Halloween Nobody in Singapore celebrates Halloween

Nobody in Japan celebrates Easter Nobody in China celebrates Easter Nobody in India celebrates Easter 33 percent of British residents don't celebrate Easter (and they make up nearly most of the Final Fantasy players outside of Japan)

Nobody in India celebrates ValenSWINES Day Most people in Colombia don't celebrate ValenSWINES Day Most people in Chile don't celebrate ValenSWINES Day Most people in Malaysia don't celebrate ValenSWINES Day Most people in Russia don't celebrate ValenSWINES Day Most people in many European countries don't celebrate ValenSWINES Day

I will do everything i can to make sure Easter and Vlentines Day references are abolished from any Final Fantasy game. They have no place in those games .Those are earth things and Final Fantasy does not take place on our planet. I will do whatever it takes even to the point of going to SE HQ to force them to comply with my request. I will get militant about it if i have to. SE has no right to put those disgusting abombinations in their video games. I am sick of the Americanization of the world.

The majority of non-Japanese FF fans aren't British people who don't celebrate Easter. Cat (meowhunt) 19:53, May 1, 2018 (UTC)

New navboxes

Heya, I was just wondering what you thought of the new split navboxes that I'm (slowly) rolling out? And specifically if you think the new split FFXV ones are ok? Not sure if I did the FFXV setting one correctly.--Magicite-ffvi-ios.png Technobliterator TC 00:39, May 2, 2018 (UTC)

Minecraft Final Fantasy XV Skin Pack

Would it be possible to sort thing out, I know next to nothing about Minecraft and Final Fantasy XV. There's 43 characters and possibly items. https://minecraft.net/en-us/article/final-fantasy-xv-skin-pack-out-now. Character models are all present on the webpage, would need to identify them. FF7 Unused Text

Sorta proposal

Okay since we have now Record Keeper pages for characters could we also do separate Theatrhythm pages? We did start but then reversed the idea and got rid of them (at the time we didn't have other appearances pages and didn't make separate pages for recurring characters except Dissidia as far as I can remember) but since there are now three Theatrhythm games it may serve us a bit to make them like we started.--Xion V. (talk) 04:11, May 20, 2018 (UTC)

I think that's a good idea that any game with gameplay info or big story appearance that diverges from the main game would have a subpage. I don't know anything about Theatrhythm but if it matters what character you play as, like they have stats, then I think it's a good idea to make subpages for those appearances.Keltainentoukokuu (talk) 16:40, May 20, 2018 (UTC)

Hi bud! I need to delete the pic I uploaded of the Mystery Panties, as I was mistaken in thinking that it was from FFVII, but it's not. I'm not sure how to go about deleting it though... DynamixDJ

Hi!

Hello! Sorry to barge in your page!

Recently, Yasumi Matsuno released some concept images of FFT and its prototype. I don't know how to edit wikis, but if you would be so kind, I think these artworks would improve the Tactics' articles

http://nekokuma.com/post-83942/

Or, if you tell me about another user who could, I'd gladly forward the message! Thanks for your time :3

Looks cool. I can't read the page, so what is the context of these? This looks like a social media site of some kind, so not a primary source. If there's any more info it would be useful. Matsuno is personally sharing them from his tablet? Is it known who the artist was? Looks like there's stuff for FFT and "FFT2". I can recognise the characters but not really the locations apart from the volcano.Keltainentoukokuu (talk) 23:02, May 23, 2018 (UTC)
Apparently it's from a niconico stream from the FF14 official channel, I guess. Niconico mascot on table. I don't know if livestreams get documented on niconico, but this was linked [3] in a prior post talking about the livestream -- except I'm getting a "maintenance mode" message on all niconico live stuff at the moment. JBed (talk) 23:14, May 23, 2018 (UTC)
Might be just gone which is why people took screenshots of it. Well cool if it was on the official channel. Some of those are never-before-seen it appears, like Cloud never had an artwork here before. Seems the same style as the other artworks, so likely Akihiko Yoshida, though probably better not to guess if there is no signature.Keltainentoukokuu (talk) 23:26, May 23, 2018 (UTC)
Yes, that's right! I saw some people talking about it here: https://www.resetera.com/threads/yasumi-matsuno-also-reveals-ogre-battle-like-prototype-of-final-fantasy-tactics-1.43705/ Maybe someone there got more info, I'm not sure. But its basically what JBed said. Thanks a lot for the uploads and the research! Love the work you guys do!

Crisis Core shops

While working on adding location infoboxes to FFVII pages, I noticed that Crisis Core has shops for Mythril Mine (Final Fantasy VII) and Gongaga despite those locations not appearing. However, I feel like it's silly to add the shop list to those pages, as they're not locations that appear. Do you agree? Haven't played the game.--Magicite-ffvi-ios.png Technobliterator TC 22:36, May 29, 2018 (UTC) EDIT: same with Bone Village.

When you undid the edit on the Rufus Shinra page that I made, you took out the correct information and reinstalled the false information. It is not canon that Rufus spent his house arrest in Junon. If you think it is canon, please cite your source and I'll go away. otherwise, if you persist in posting incorrect information, I'll have to report you.

Fayt Leingod

Hi! I don't want to argue or anything, but when I edited on the Fayt Leingod page, I was following the Sora/Riku pages' layout (and was about to do the "Fayt Leingod/Brave Exvius" as I have been doing until now, since that is my "policy" for vision-only characters). Was I wrong to follow those pages' structure? | ShiroxCloud(talk) 02:07, July 28, 2018 (UTC)

Here's the deal. Fayt's is a Level 3 appearance as yet. He has appeared in but one FF title and doesn't have a lot of backstory in this universe. If he were suddenly to cross into Mobius or RK, then you could break it up. Voice actors also don't apply to FFBE quite yet. Swordzmanp236 (talk) 02:47, July 28, 2018 (UTC)
The Article Creation Policy just says that characters who appear in multiple games without an obvious "main game" are handled case by case, so that's probably why Sora and Aya Brea etc are bit free form. For "guests" from other series I'd like the link to their own wiki to be prominent, but the wiki wanted to do away with "See Alsos" at the top.Keltainentoukokuu (talk) 03:07, July 28, 2018 (UTC)

Other Star Ocean schtuff

When youse guys get Fayt Leingod sorted out, I was wondering if you could fill in the blanks the same way for Roddick Farrence, Rena Lanford, and Fidel Camuze? You may want Reimi Saionji as a guide for this. Swordzmanp236 (talk) 02:57, July 28, 2018 (UTC)

I don't play Brave Exvius and don't know much about Star Ocean. I've played III and am actually currently playing IV though (only on the second planet so far). Playing these smaller budget JRPGs kinda gets me to appreciate FF more. Like it's nice they go all out every time. Star Ocean IV came out around the time with FFXIII and woahhh does it look kinda bad in comparison.Keltainentoukokuu (talk) 03:07, July 28, 2018 (UTC)

Twitter for Shinra News

Hey Kelt, currently the FFWiki Twitter is mostly nonsense related to the LP and Podcast, but I was thinking that we should try to have all "news"-like content (Shinra News, new patches, etc.) on there (along with possibly announcements of major changes made to wiki content, but I'm not so sure about that). Since you do a lot of the Shinra News, would you like me to give you the Twitter password so you can post Shinra News as it comes up? Cat (meowhunt) 21:41, August 7, 2018 (UTC)

I hate doing the news, but I do the bare minimum if I spot something. I have never used Twitter, but how hard could it be!Keltainentoukokuu (talk) 13:48, August 8, 2018 (UTC)
Ok, cool. Is there a good way I can send you the password? Cat (meowhunt) 17:57, August 8, 2018 (UTC)
To my new glorious life as a social media influencer! You can email it to my spam email at kunderamaria at yahoo dot co dot uk.Keltainentoukokuu (talk) 18:04, August 8, 2018 (UTC)

Okay this is kinda funny, because I had no idea this topic existed on your talk, much less was just posted today, but the thought occurred to me -- Shinra News is kinda obsolete anyway imho, and rarely monitored or updated. Why not just declare it defunct, use the Twitter account as the news feed for the Wiki, and allow users to submit news article suggestions on the Wiki talk page for our Twitter? DrakeyC (talk) 23:03, August 8, 2018 (UTC)

I think it's updated at an okay rate when something actually is announced, but it's not so common that something newsworthy is happening. Updating something on the main page frequently enough makes a wiki look better!Keltainentoukokuu (talk) 13:55, August 9, 2018 (UTC)
Fair point on the former. For the main page, though, we have the Twitter feed for that, which is what inspired this idea. DrakeyC (talk) 22:04, August 9, 2018 (UTC)

Release

J2E isn't? --Mentifisto (talk) 16:06, August 8, 2018 (UTC)

The fan translation name for FFV enemies is in the enemy infobox template as "rpge". It doesn't appear in the infoboxes themselves though. Maybe it was decided to do away with supporting fan translations on the wiki.Keltainentoukokuu (talk) 16:11, August 8, 2018 (UTC)
Kelt is correct. Fan translations of the games are not official releases, so we don't cover them on the wiki, which is why the rpge data won't show up in infoboxes. Fan translations are only used in absence of an official English release.--Magicite-ffvi-ios.png Technobliterator TC 17:06, August 8, 2018 (UTC)
Wasn't it the first release in the language though, before Square thought V was relevant? As it is it's confusing as there are multiple names but only the Japanese transliteration comes closest, and yet isn't the one. --Mentifisto (talk) 12:14, August 10, 2018 (UTC)
Not an official release. The only ones that count are official English releases by Square.--Magicite-ffvi-ios.png Technobliterator TC 13:09, August 10, 2018 (UTC)

Apocalypsis Noctis Lyrics

Hi! I hope I'm not being a bother, but I saw you created the page for Apocalypsis Noctis on the wiki and that you included the lyrics. I'm not questioning them because they sound spot-on, but I was wondering where you'd gotten them from, and if that same source might have the lyrics to other tracks from the game such as Hellfire? Thanks! TalysAlankil 14:10, August 25, 2018 (UTC)

I posted on the article talk page on where I got them, but basically they were posted on reddit by someone who says they sing it in the Distant Worlds as part of the chorus. I wish we had Hellfire etc. too, but I don't think they perform that one in concerts (maybe because it wasn't composed by Yoko Shimomura?) Check the article talk page for a link to a translation also. I'm hoping someone would like to contribute a translation here as well.Keltainentoukokuu (talk) 14:17, August 25, 2018 (UTC)
Oh, I didn't think to check the article talk page, duh. Thanks! I could probably give the translation a stab when I have some time. TalysAlankil 14:27, August 25, 2018 (UTC)
That would be amazing. The reddit link has two translations, one more literal and one more prosaic, and FFXV translates one line itself (Leviathan) but not literally.Keltainentoukokuu (talk) 15:04, August 25, 2018 (UTC)

Ardyn

It is said that Ardyn used more skills with Armiger in Episode Ignis. Can you give me an example? Anitasalim (talk 7:02, November 17, 2018 (UTC)

In the main game final battle Ardyn's Armiger seems the same as Noctis's. They both fly around Insomnia with the same mechanic as was used in the Leviathan battle. In Episode Ignis Verse 2 battle they have evolved this with Ardyn's royal arms flying far away from him rather than them just circling his immediate body. The royal arms in his Armiger also can consolidate in front of him to make a wall/shield (Noctis can kinda do this against ballistic fire in the main game though, though it doesn't look the exactly the same). Armiger just seems more elaborate in this battle, but calling it "more skills" is indeed pretty vague and not a very good description.Keltainentoukokuu (talk) 14:24, November 17, 2018 (UTC)

You disapproved of Ardyn casting Elemancy and instead used magic spells while from all the videos of his boss battle, I saw him only use elemental spells and nothing like the Wall used by the Kingsglaive. And I also found the light-elemental spell Ardyn used. It has him strike down a beam of white light at Noctis.Anitasalim (talk 09:34, Febuary 26, 2019 (UTC)

In that case, why won't you allow me to say that he is proficient with the royal arms and only hand-to-hand combat? Anitasalim (talk 14:11, March 13, 2019 (UTC)

Hiroyuki Ito co-created Ivalice.

It's time for this forgotten man to start getting more respect from this fanbase. According to this IGN video interview about Return to Ivalice, Hiroyuki Ito co-created Ivalice with Yasumi Matsuno. Opinion on a couple things

Hey Kelt, would like to ask your opinion on a couple things:

  1. Now that we've renamed all the subpages and list pages to consistent names, I was wondering what you'd think of us naming story, development, etc pages consistently too, like "Story of Final Fantasy VII", "Development of Final Fantasy XV", etc. Do you think it would make sense to rename those to "Final Fantasy VII story" just for consistency also?
  2. I'm working on a new update to enemy stats templates based on new PI features, and this is what we came up with. Basically it's now possible to use tabs in infoboxes again in a way that's actually portable this time, so I could do a similar thing to this for Zodiac Age. Do you think this new design is good? Or should I make a draft based on FFXII first? (most people I've shown said they're fine with this design, but it'd be great to have more opinions)

Thanks, and hope you have a good Christmas!--Magicite-ffvi-ios.png Technobliterator TC 18:34, December 23, 2018 (UTC)

Aranea Boss Entry

First of all, that was clearly not spam and I resent one of my edits being branded as such. Second you keep creating a dead link on the FFXV bestiary article because you haven't cleaned up your links. -{{SUBST:User:HD3/SigInclude}} 21:29, January 1, 2019 (UTC)

When deleting an article there is a drop down menu to choose as the reason and I didn't really know why you created a duplicate article. I took the one that seemed closest for deleting a dup article. I'm not sure what links you refer to.Keltainentoukokuu (talk) 21:47, January 1, 2019 (UTC)
Ah I see now, Aranea's boss page was wrongly as Aranea (boss) in the bestiary page. Thanks for catching that. It used to be Aranea (boss) but there is also a boss called Aranea in FFX-2 so that's not really a good tag.Keltainentoukokuu (talk) 21:50, January 1, 2019 (UTC)

Re: Awesome screenshot of Seitengrat

I figured since the old image was of pretty bad quality, and I had the bow in-game, I'd just grab the screenshot. I'll upload a better Great Trango screenshot later today as well. Thank you though, glad the image is good. Munchvtec (talk) 16:22, January 18, 2019 (UTC)

FFXII enemy infobox

Hey, just letting you know it's now possible to use tabs in infoboxes (in a portable way that actually works on mobile). So I can split Zodiac stats into a different tab now. I've attempted to do this for abilities and items, where the main difference is, but can make any other splits if you need to? Also, do you think the new one looks okay?--Magicite-ffvi-ios.png Technobliterator TC 16:30, January 31, 2019 (UTC)

FFXIV images

Thanks for putting the FFXIV images on the right pages, I have a bit of a doubt about where to put it.

I had not seen that the lucavis arts were duplicated, I searched the articles and had not found them. >.> I have the sketches of both, would you know if they were already up? I also have some concepts and promotional arts that I do not know where to put it, if you can help me with this, I would appreciate it. -The HGX (talk) 22:30, February 5, 2019 (UTC)

FFXII augments

Hey, I've been making categories for abilities in all the games (with categorized redirects), and I just came across something when making Category:Augments in Final Fantasy XII. Some of the ones, like Battle Lore and Magick Lore, right now exist as disambigs, but the disamibg just links to either the original License Board or the Zodiac License Board, hence the bot has been creating "Battle Lore (Final Fantasy XII)", which obviously should just be deleted. However, given that we have a page for both games (which is Augment (Final Fantasy XII)), shouldn't it just redirect there instead? of redirecting to the License Board pages?--Magicite-ffvi-ios.png Technobliterator TC 00:10, February 7, 2019 (UTC)

Viera page

Some annoying anon keeps capitalizing the word viera on that page and I have reverted it back with proper explanations every time but they keep changing it back and I am getting annoyed constantly fixing it. Could you please do something because you are the one that told me this and that moron will not listen, thank you.--Xion V. (talk) 16:13, February 7, 2019 (UTC)

Redirect categories

Just letting you know that we now categorize redirects made if they are there in place of articles, see my edit to see what I mean. This basically means people can search for all the items/abilities/weapons/etc. in a game with those categories, which is more helpful for mobile users to navigate. As I know you make redirects a lot, just thought I'd give you a head's up in case you'd missed it!--Magicite-ffvi-ios.png Technobliterator TC 03:23, February 12, 2019 (UTC)

Ulric's Kukris

Hi! I'll bother you with the fact that the other dagger (File:FFBE Nyx's Dagger.png) also appears. It's his Trust Master reward: https://exvius.gamepedia.com/Nyx%27s_Dagger -- ShiroxCloud(talk) 13:02, March 5, 2019 (UTC)

Gameplay category

Hey Kelt, just asking your opinion on a category thing. Category:Gameplay and Category:Recurring are the last categories that need reorganizing, but I have a bit of a dilemna. In Gameplay right now, most of these pages are very game-specific, like "Quest (Final Fantasy XV)", "Linkshell", "Magic Stone (Final Fantasy IX)". Most people I've spoken to seem to agree with me that these pages are best off just moved to their game category instead of in one giant Gameplay category. However, then you have stuff like date mechanics and Active Time Event which seem a little more useful, as they are a bit more unique. It seems a bit weird that we'd list all minigames in the series under "Category:Minigames" but then not list little mechanics like those. Any thoughts on if we should make another subcategory for those (and what to call it?), or am I overthinking it?--Magicite-ffvi-ios.png Technobliterator TC 23:22, March 6, 2019 (UTC)

Messaging you here to make sure you see it... I've now split Category:Gameplay into subcats for games, because I figure those will also have their own subcats (elements, statuses, and stats for sure, possibly also sidequests and minigames for games with two or more). As for "Recurring gameplay elements", I think it deserves to exist, and most of what's in Gameplay now should be moved there aside from really core stuff. needs to be renamed to avoid confusion (as there will inevitably be a "Recurring elements" subcategory of "Elements"), but am not sure what to-- can you think of any? And does this sound good to you?--Magicite-ffvi-ios.png Technobliterator TC 23:25, March 7, 2019 (UTC)

Bahamut

In the Bahamut (Final Fantasy XV) page, there is some needed changes. The profile only depicts Bahamut's appearance and doesn't show Bahamut's abilities and personality. Anitasalim (talk 03:43:00, 7 March 2019 (UTC)

Well then can you describe how the final boss fight with Bahamut in Comrades went on? Anitasalim (talk 06:48:29, 13 March 2019 (UTC)

DFFOO Eyes portraits

Excuse me, let me to know why did you delete DFFOO eyes portraits? I think it always show in the game? Ephaporia (talk) 03:33, March 20, 2019 (UTC)

The Reply of "Eyes Portrait"

"I don't know what an eyes portrait is, but there were no such files uploaded on the wiki and it showed up as a broken image. You can upload the files first, and then add them to the infoboxes. Remember to add categories and licenses!"

The Eyes Portraits of the characters always show up during the game in the bars of the characters turns.

Then, how to give the license to the pics? Because i've got them from dissidiadb.com.

Maybe can you help me how to license them and repair them that you said they are broken?

Btw, how about these? https://finalfantasy.fandom.com/wiki/File:DFFOO_Deuce_Eyes.png https://finalfantasy.fandom.com/wiki/File:DFFOO_Ace_Eyes.png https://finalfantasy.fandom.com/wiki/File:DFFOO_Aerith_Eyes.png https://finalfantasy.fandom.com/wiki/File:DFFOO_Agrias_Eyes.png And so on that you can check them on images page in the tab explore.

Thanks for your attention. --Ephaporia (talk) 06:52, March 20, 2019 (UTC)

FFXII enemy MP

Linking this since you probably haven't seen it considering this wikia's Recent Activity moves so quickly. We can just discuss it here. So, earlier, when we were talking about Darkmare, I mentioned that the original Japanese guidebook for the game lists some enemies as having MP values greater than 999 and added them to their respective articles. Now, as you've tested with a Wyrdhare in your game, this seems to not be the case. At least not for whichever version you played. Seeing as how there are some enemies that we can't test and how some statistics are altered between the different versions of the game, I'm not really sure how to go about this. The guidebook doesn't appear to have an article (I thought about just placing a trivia note there, but yeah, can't do that). Should I just move the 999+ values I added to the trivia section of each article? Something like, "The original Japanese guidebook for Final Fantasy XII lists x as having x amount of MP, though, there is a possibility that this is not correct based on tests with other enemies with a 999+ value. It would appear that 999 is the true maximum amount of MP an enemy may have."? I know it's wordy, but I'm not sure how else to document the information. What a mess. Munchvtec (talk) 03:29, March 22, 2019 (UTC)

Hm, there is one, yeah. Oversoul. Besides Oversoul, the two enemies that come immediately after it also have values above 999 in both the Battle Ultimania and the BradyGames Guide, so strange.
The Original Japanese Guidebook is, well, the original Japanese guidebook. Just like with other places, when a game is released in Japan, a guidebook accompanies it. This particular one is actually done directly by Square Enix, not Studio BentStuff like the Ultimania. Link to a site with the book. I really do wonder if this was just another mistake carried on through multiple guides, as I've mentioned before, BradyGames took the greater majority of their info from the Japanese guides without checking anything else. I'll go ahead and move the values and create trivia notes. I'll put trivia notes on Oversoul's, Elvoret's and Babil's articles as well. Thanks, Kel! Munchvtec (talk) 17:21, March 22, 2019 (UTC)
Oh boy, haha. If only someone could test the Japanese version of the game for us. I'll go ahead and edit Elvoret's article. Should we assume Babil and Oversoul are the same and edit them accordingly as well? Munchvtec (talk) 01:45, March 24, 2019 (UTC)
Yeah, I doubt any of them do, and I think I'm good on the whole Japanese game mess, haha. Thanks a lot for looking into these, I appreciate it. Munchvtec (talk) 01:58, March 24, 2019 (UTC)
