Final Fantasy Tactics[edit source]

Nice work with the FFT articles. Very good!Keltainentoukokuu 01:31, November 22, 2011 (UTC)

Thank you. Still got a long way to go with FFT before its done, also learning the ropes as I keep editing.

Hello Xenomic, I think I saw your name somewhere before on a Final Fantasy forum if I am not mistaken. FFT is one of my all time favorites RPGs, kinda of a mix of RPG element with chess. The story is great and the gameplay is great, its rare to find games that have both of these elements in a single game. I've played a little bit of FFTA, but not as much as FFT. Yep, there is a long way to go with FFT. But I'm enjoying it.

I'll check the forums a bit later on that. Currently revamping the weapons page, still can't get the shades colors on the weapon name and image box... well, you'll see in a bit. Currently doing axes. I'll jump to armor and accessories next so it follows the same style as weapons. After that, I am planing on doing the dummy features part of FFT. So much missing there. It must of been a different Xenomic or a similar name or something, if I remember correctly, it was on a molding FF site (FFIV, FFVI patches/hacks/mods/etc).

Ah, I see what you're talking about. For that, I'll do a quick fix on that on the Axes section, so you can see what needs to be placed where. Xenomic 23:54, November 23, 2011 (UTC)

Hey, thank you. I'm at Rods now and will continue from there. Once I'm finish, I'll start from the top. Thanks again. :)

Not a problem at all, I think it's almost done the FFT part of wiki or am I missing something else? The only thing missing that I know of is the Personae page which I'm planing on doing tomorrow. Is there is anything else by any chance?

Check Forum:Updating Final Fantasy Tactics articles. I'm working on Outfitters very slowly in my userspace, and there's also the Quotes page. That's it. You beat me to everything there is. I'm impressed. C A T U S E06:21, November 26, 2011 (UTC)

The quotes are all present with the spells (on the Job pages), you can copy them from there easily if you wish.

No... quotes as in stuff like dismissal, high Faith, low Brave, menu quote thingies, etc. C A T U S E06:27, November 26, 2011 (UTC)

Lol, just finish reading all the stuff on the link above. You can leave that to me too if you wish, all I would like from you is for you to create the Quote page and do an example on how it should look like for all quotes.

Here's a sample: Final Fantasy Tactics/Quotes. Also, if you don't mind, can you type ~~~~ at the end of your posts? (This auto-generates a signature and timestamp). Your talk page is kinda confusing. Thanks. C A T U S E06:53, November 26, 2011 (UTC)

Ah, thanks for the tip. I didn't know that. Fenrir9 06:57, November 26, 2011 (UTC)

Beastmaster? Ain't no Beastmaster in Tactics. C A T U S E03:40, November 27, 2011 (UTC)

I never actually tried myself, but I think so. You could always test it out. Fenrir9 03:43, November 27, 2011 (UTC)

You mean "Monster Skill" (or whatever WotL calls it?) It works, alright. Once, I had Boco's offspring help me rescue Agrias, and she stood next to the offspring in question and he gained new abilities I'd never seen before. C A T U S E03:44, November 27, 2011 (UTC)
I meant if someone with Monster Skill/Beastmaster stood next to a monster ENEMY, not monster ALLY. It's something I never used the ability at all. I guess I COULD test it, but not tonight as I have 19 videos to convert, which is gonna take the entirety of tonight and probably a bit of tomorrow as well x_x;; Xenomic 03:58, November 27, 2011 (UTC)

Finished the FFT Enemy Ability list Xenomic, all there is left to do in there is for you to input your data in them where the question marks are and look at the others to see if there are any errors. Fenrir9 20:59, November 27, 2011 (UTC)

FF4 Images[edit source]

Thanks for grabbing the ones we were missing, it's appreciated. Doreiku Kuroofangu 04:28, December 20, 2011 (UTC)

No problem, I finally got around to do it. Fenrir9 04:46, December 20, 2011 (UTC)

You don't have to put categories in images afterward. All you have to do is add them straight into the edit summary. C A T U S E00:08, December 22, 2011 (UTC)

RE: Mystic Quest Images[edit source]

Nope, Drake hasn't drag me into it. I was always planing on doing them (images) since MQ is one of my favorites and well, it lacks a lot of stuff in it. Will now put WM at the end from now on, I never like the inner image view, maybe you could find on the web a full dungeon map of the inner no? So, its not as an offense to you personally. I've never really liked the small screenshot/part of the image and stuff. Maybe a full interior would be better? I'm pretty sure it could be google and found. Could you google for them, I've got lots on my hand with MQ at the moment. Can the current name of files be renamed? If you know how too, please go ahead. Fenrir9 05:51, December 30, 2011 (UTC)
Ta-da. Doreiku Kuroofangu 05:54, December 30, 2011 (UTC)
That's perfect, just need to separate, cut, paste, and upload. I guess we no longer need those small screenshots. Sorry Xenomic... I'll place them in a "Gallery" on their respectful page after I'm done with the Overworld screenshots of all locations. Thanks Drake Clawfang. Fenrir9 06:04, December 30, 2011 (UTC)

MQ Icons[edit source]

Could use your input here. Xeno and I can't identify the icons, maybe you can. Doreiku Kuroofangu 08:02, January 3, 2012 (UTC)

Copy and pasted this from another page that I posted, but here goes. Earth, Water, Fire, Wind (also share the thunder resistance - atmosphere, get it - posted this bit of info on the armor talk page of the MQ armor page), Drain (Ether Shield resist this attack), Unknown (It reverse Drain effect, heals you instead of enemy while enemy takes damage - Zombie? or Undead? - Not sure if its call this, you can heal yourself with the Cure spell and don't take damage like you should - I call it "Reverse Drain" - besides, only 3 attacks have the Drain elemental), Damage (Sword icon - Physical attacks), Shoot (Bow icon - Projectiles). Fatal (called this in-game instead of Death), Petrify, Paralyze, Sleep, Confusion, Poison, Blind and Silence. There is no icons for Axe, Bomb, or Zombie attacks (Attack with Cure spell) - Monster only. Fenrir9 18:09, January 3, 2012 (UTC) Fenrir9 18:11, January 3, 2012 (UTC)
Uploaded the icons. Fenrir9 18:50, January 3, 2012 (UTC)
Re-uploaded newer icons, can be found here. http://finalfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Category:Final_Fantasy_Mystic_Quest_Icon_Images Fenrir9 20:39, January 3, 2012 (UTC)
Right, forgot those are the icons for the player weaknesses and resistances, I was thinking of enemy ones. I'd assume the enemy-exclusive elemental properties have no icons? Doreiku Kuroofangu 02:56, January 4, 2012 (UTC)
You assumed correctly, there is no icons for Axe, Bomb, or Zombie attacks. Fenrir9 04:17, January 4, 2012 (UTC)

New Title[edit source]

Because of all the work you've been doing, I hereby dub you Head Pontiff of the Gnomes at FFWiki. That is crazy, yet you do even more work in even less time that Kelt, which I thought impossible. Nice. :DC A T U S E21:24, January 14, 2012 (UTC)

I am slow. ;) But what's the rush? Nice work Fenrir9!Keltainentoukokuu 21:34, January 14, 2012 (UTC)
I believe it is up to the Chief WikiGnome to pass his title on. And the last Chief WikiGnome is deeeaad. JBed 21:37, January 14, 2012 (UTC)

Kelt, you are not slow. Fenrir is just faster than you. And JBed, that is why I did not make Fenrir the Chief WikiGnome. I made him the Head Pontiff of the Gnomes at FFWiki. It sounds cooler and he deserves it, but if ILHI was the last Chief... oh well. Head Pontiff is the new title, like it or not. Congratulations, Fenrir! EDIT CONFLICT: ILHI isn't really dead... but JBed often says he is. Long story that only JBed's at liberty to discuss We aren't really joking about him dying.C A T U S E21:39, January 14, 2012 (UTC)

Thank you all. Since the majority of the people are working on the newest games, I simply decided to work on the old school games that are in need of a lot of work. Some articles do not have the same style, and shares lots of inconsistencies with the same game. Some contains errors, or misinformation and stuff. Oh, Catuse167 said it right. I'm not rushing at all, its just its information that I know about and putting them in. As for the tables, well I'm getting the hang of them. Fenrir9 19:41, January 15, 2012 (UTC)
Oh I didn't mean to imply you are rushing! It may look like I have a lot of edits done, but I think my methods are sometimes rather inefficient, like I get distracted by something else a lot. But then it doesn't really matter how efficient you do it, does it. It's great you want to work on the lesser known games. :)Keltainentoukokuu 19:55, January 15, 2012 (UTC)
Oh don't worry, I didn't take it like an insult or anything. :) I'm simply sharing the known stuff the FFwikia is lacking. Not a lot of people are willing to work on the old school games, glad there are a few others willing to work on them too. Fenrir9 19:59, January 15, 2012 (UTC)

Malboros[edit source]

HMMMMM. The article originally says that the Malboro will never use the attack that turns a target into a Malboro if they are in water because Malboros can't go to water. When you changed it to that Malboro can go to water that clause didn't make sense anymore. So Malboros don't use the ability on targets that are in water even if it doesn't matter? ...do Malboros ever even appear in battlefields with water?Keltainentoukokuu 01:20, January 21, 2012 (UTC)

I dunno... but it says something similar about Cuchlaninn, and Lionel Castle certainly doesn't have any water in it. Besides you can recruit Mals and take them to watery locations. C A T U S E 01:23, January 21, 2012 (UTC)
I looked it up. Malboros are immune to all effects of Water, not unable to enter it. C A T U S E 01:39, January 21, 2012 (UTC)
Well, I try posting something and an error occurred (editing conflict). So I lost what I wrote, so long story short. I believe the person made a mistake and put Cannot enter water instead of Beastmaster ability (does Beastmaster ability have a restriction such as not being able to work in water?). Great Malboro can only have the skill if there is a unit with the Beastmaster skill standing right next to the him. Fenrir9 01:46, January 21, 2012 (UTC)
It had both CEW and Beastmaster noted (and no, I think Beastmaster =/= CEW, but I can't be sure). And yeah, editing conflicts are so annoying C A T U S E 01:49, January 21, 2012 (UTC)

...so Malboro can use it on a water target and it was just wrong to begin with?Keltainentoukokuu 01:54, January 21, 2012 (UTC)

I don't see why Great Malboro can't use it on targets in water. Fenrir9 02:11, January 21, 2012 (UTC)

RE: Old School Games[edit source]

I enjoyed FFLIII very much, what's LP by the way? The transformation where a fun twist. I'm currently doing the enemy list at the moment. I played the game over a decade ago, but still remembering some things on it. Never played FFL or FFLII, so I don't know much on them. As for FireX and LitX, I don't know. But I will check on it much later. Or you could check gamefaqs on the translation difference to know for sure what's its Japanese name is. Fenrir9 21:52, January 29, 2012 (UTC)
LP= Let's Play -- you know those videos on YouTube where the guy plays a game and does voice-over narration? That's LP. C A T U S E 22:00, January 29, 2012 (UTC)
(Edit Comflict when posting) LP = Live Playthrough? Page done so far, Characters (Incomplete - Missing all villains info), Weapons (Missing Item Magic info - think FFIV), Armor (Missing Item Magic info), Spells (Complete), Items (Complete), Enemy Abilities (Complete), Enemies (Currently working on). Fenrir9 22:01, January 29, 2012 (UTC)
LP = Let's Play. Though not always do I do commentary with mine (I actually didn't start until much later with mine).
I'd assume it wouldn't be known as the same as other spells (and since there seems to be a Fira and Thundara, I'd assume those would be the -ga equivalents). I heard this was remade for the DS on the page, though I don't know if it was ever brought over or translated for us. I MAY look into that version if it was translated (can't play untranslated games that much...I like to know what's going on yo!). I may look into those later on.
Well, maybe later on after you're done with FFLIII you'll want to try the other two :v Again, it all depends on what this wiki's policy is on those games, since IIRC those are actually Saga games and not actual FF games. Still...probably doesn't hurt to cover them anyways? @_@ Xenomic 22:03, January 29, 2012 (UTC)
Well, the thing is. They were release in North America as FF titles. Thus, are FFs but as North American Spin-offs. They were definitely Final Fantasized for America. As for the spells, FireX = OORA = Aura and Lit X = MEZA = Maser. I doubt I'll be doing FFA, FFL or FFLII, someone else is going to have to pick them up. Too many game's on my list at the moment. Fenrir9 22:16, January 29, 2012 (UTC)
I suppose that is true. I might get to those 3 games, someday...someday... Xenomic 22:21, January 29, 2012 (UTC)
Okay, thanks for the heads up. Fenrir9 10:08, January 30, 2012 (UTC)
Well, there's a English translation patch for SaGa2 DS (FFL2) and I've just found out today that SaGa3 DS has a work-in-progress patch (script for Past, Present, and Future done along with other things). It also looks like Curtis and Gloria in the DS have personalities, something the GB version lacks (English version). Fenrir9 21:51, February 6, 2012 (UTC)
Hmm....interesting. I wonder how long it'll be before that's done for FFLIII. Maybe I should look into the DS version of FFLII and get stuff from there...or perhaps one of us should do one version and the other the other version to cover both sides (though how long it'll be before I actually do LII is beyond me!). Xenomic 22:21, February 6, 2012 (UTC)

SaGa Wiki[edit source]

I sure could use some help over here. It's nice to see someone else uploading SaGa stuff. :) ▫ Sir ISStalk 14:08, February 1, 2012 (UTC)

Also, here, if you're interested.

Userpage[edit source]

I know it's not compulsory and all that, but you pop up on the RC a lot, you have a high edit count, and you're a bit of an enigma :) what made you decide not to have anything on your main userpage? No, I'm not a stalker, just a curious teen. Tia-LewiseRydia - Young battle.png 15:14, February 20, 2012 (UTC)

One of the main reason would be (and I'm sure you've already either read about from other users or heard it), where to start and what to put on it lol. Fenrir9 22:39, February 20, 2012 (UTC)
Help:Userpage is where to start, but that's ok, enigmas are cool :) C A T U S E 23:42, February 21, 2012 (UTC)

Mystic Quest[edit source]

You're the only one I know of who seems to play MQ extensively, so if you could I need someone to check something. I remember several locations can't be revisited but don't remember specifically which ones, so if you have a finished file somewhere do you think you could check and add them to Unrevisitable Locations? Doreiku Kuroofangu 20:17, February 20, 2012 (UTC)

The places you can't revisit are as follow: Hill of Destiny, Falls Basin, and Rope Bridge. That's pretty much it. Fenrir9 22:31, February 20, 2012 (UTC)
Oh, thought you couldn't revisit the Volcano and Alive Forest too. Thanks. Doreiku Kuroofangu 23:08, February 20, 2012 (UTC)

Nice Work[edit source]

Good effort.Keltainentoukokuu 01:07, April 28, 2012 (UTC)

Thanks, by the way Keltainentoukokuu. Could you create a disambiguation page for Elan? It appears in FFIX and FFLIII. I don't know how to edit the re-directs and all. Fenrir9 17:11, April 28, 2012 (UTC)
Np. The change in the search system makes editing redirects a bit more tricky.Keltainentoukokuu 18:37, April 28, 2012 (UTC)
Thank you. Fenrir9 19:41, April 28, 2012 (UTC)

FFT Ivalician Language Article[edit source]

Well, I think its about time I get off my lazy ass lol and finally create this article that is partially complete on my hard-drive. I started gathering info on this during the time I work on the FFT part of the wiki, and simply left it there unfinished for more than 5-6 months. I will need to polish it up, the images will need to be recolored and resized the images, etc. All this I can easily do. This article will take more time than the usual article that I have ever done. Nevertheless, I would like to finally do it since it's quite interesting. Of course, said article will have to wait after I complete the Blood Equipment page and Kaiser Dragon Glitch page merge. The last too page left on my plate for the wiki. Planing on doing these articles tomorrow during the day.

The problem arises on what to name said article which completely baffles me. So, I'm asking the people that have already posted on my talk page or anyone else who reads this. What should this article be named? Feedback would be nice and appreciated. Fenrir9 12:04, May 19, 2012 (UTC)

"Language of Final Fantasy Tactics". Straight and to the point. Probably will be an interesting article too.
But make sure to back up the whole thing on your computer first, I keep trying to send this message and getting error messages like "server down for maintenence", "slave servers catching up to the masters", "try accessing this page later", and "database locked for testing". Then when I reload the page, everything I wrote is gone! What is going on up there in Shinra Headquarters? :/ Cat: meowhunt 15:07, May 19, 2012 (UTC)
P.S. Made a new image category for this job: Category:Final Fantasy Tactics Writing Images. I made it so that the lucavi scripture thingies wouldn't stay uncategorized, but it could probably be used for this too
I have notice that myself, I usually just refresh the error page and my changes go through. Oh, I will definitely back it up. No worries there, I'll go with your suggestion for the name and if people don't like it. They can change it or vote for another name. Fenrir9 17:12, May 20, 2012 (UTC)

Images[edit source]

When uploading images, if it's a screenshot, you should use the Screenshot licence not the SECopyright one. For quick work, just type {{Screenshot|<name of the game it is from>}} and it will automatically categorise it to xxx screenshot images as well.Keltainentoukokuu 22:57, May 25, 2012 (UTC)

Thanks for the tip. Fenrir9 23:51, May 25, 2012 (UTC)

FF6[edit source]

Would appreciate some help if you can provide it. :) Doreiku Kuroofangu 08:17, May 27, 2012 (UTC)

Ultros[edit source]

Thanks for adding the caption, I knew it was something to the effect of "this looks familiar" but couldn't recall exact wording. :) Doreiku Kuroofangu 04:21, June 10, 2012 (UTC)

No problem, I got it off youtube in one of those Let's Play vids. I remembered one of the player talk to everybody and check everything. So that made it pretty easily. Fenrir9 04:28, June 10, 2012 (UTC)

Ajora's sprite[edit source]

Hi! Just saw Ajora's portrait, and are you sure this is dummied? I saw it before, and many people told it was fanmade. I'm not sure, that's why I would liketo ask if you found it ingame or in another page. Thanks!

That portrait can only be seen if you either rip all the portraits from the game, or hack Alma when she's possess (white haired Alma) into your party. The portrait is only seen on the white haired Alma when looking at her while in the party roster menu. During battle, she appears as white haired Alma. Fenrir9 06:55, June 11, 2012 (UTC)
That's cool to know. Imma add that to Alma's article.Keltainentoukokuu 10:46, June 11, 2012 (UTC)
Wrong Alma, this Alma (Possess). Fenrir9 11:11, June 11, 2012 (UTC)

Edit: There are three different Alma's used in the game. The first is chapter 3 Alma during the battle in Royal City of Lesalia (works correctly if hack into the roster). The second is Alma who is permanently dead during the battle against Hashmal (can be hack into roster, but unusable since she permanently dead). The third is uber Alma used during the battle with Ultima (can be hack into the roster, but on the party roster menu her sprite and portrait will look like the priest at Alma's funeral call Souryo. Named after his image file name found on the disc). Image of him: http://spriters-resource.com/psx_ps2/fft/sheet/1492. A different spritesheet, the incomplete white haired Alma/possess Alma/False Saint/etc (this sprite is missing lots to animation on it, this is very noticeable if used her during battle). This sprite has Ajora's portrait that can only be seen on the party roster menu. Fenrir9 11:50, June 11, 2012 (UTC)

THANKS A LOT! It's good to know it is really 'hidden' and not fanmade. Thanks for the explanation!

New FF game called Crystal Conquest?[edit source]

Anyways, it's a Squeenix game and it has crystals and classes in it... but is it Final Fantasy? :|C A T U S E 01:11, June 17, 2012 (UTC)
Good question... it has crystals, summons, and classes. All that's missing is Final Fantasy in its title. Forgot to put the "?" in the title. Fenrir9 01:45, June 17, 2012 (UTC)

FFLI, FFLII and FLIII Logos[edit source]

Anybody good with photoshop or the likes, and make these logos for this page? Easy to find higher quality images on google images. I suck at anything pixel related. Fenrir9 16:55, June 20, 2012 (UTC)

Scratch that, found some. Fenrir9 19:54, June 20, 2012 (UTC)

Returning in Time![edit source]

That's strange, I did do a search and didn't got any hits at that time. I just did another search and got a hit. I guess I spelled it wrong or something. Fenrir9 04:46, June 27, 2012 (UTC)
FFVII Cait Sith Battle.gif
I remember I wanted to go to the Ragnarok's weapon page once a few weeks ago. I type Ragnarok and the "drop down" list never appeared and I had to press enter which lead me to the disambiguation page. The new search does not work as intended. Fenrir9 07:25, June 28, 2012 (UTC)

Etymology[edit source]

I always had an interest in mythology, legends, folklore, etc. That is one of the reason that I love the Shin Megami Tensei/Persona series. It's full of them. Fenrir9 05:04, June 28, 2012 (UTC)
Final Fantasy has increase the amount of mythological naming in their recent games, but it's still far less compare to many other RPGs (excluding Shin Megami Tensei/Persona series) that I've played. Fenrir9 07:29, June 28, 2012 (UTC)

FF6 Symbols[edit source]

Why not just upload the new ones over the old ones? Doreiku Kuroofangu 00:15, July 23, 2012 (UTC)

Wow... Why haven't I receive a notice when this was posted? I see some pages that I'm following some pages and not receiving any notices from them when they are modified when I check through the recent activity page. Anyways, back to your question Drake. Sorry for the late reply by the way. I don't remember specifically, but its either I uploaded them all before hand and didn't check the previous files, I know for certain that I do not check the naming of current pictures because the majority of time their naming simply suck. So I stop wasting my time checking up the file's names. Fenrir9 (talk) 14:09, August 15, 2012 (UTC)

A MONUMENTAL Task For You!...Or an easy one..whichever you prefer![edit source]

What do you mean? A map of the whole dungeon? You could easily find them on google image if that is what you are talking about. Fenrir9 (talk) 23:12, August 27, 2012 (UTC)
Full maps wouldn't be a problem, and would be a little bit better honestly. Found some raw maps (full dungeons), leave the FFMQ maps to me. I'll start this tomorrow. Fenrir9 (talk) 23:57, August 27, 2012 (UTC)
Oh, it also has stuff like Aquaria frozen and Aquaria unfrozen. The inside every houses + Inns, temples, etc. So, I'll do a gallery in each articles like other articles do. The only thing I didn't see is the Hill of Destiny, but I can do that one manually. Fenrir9 (talk) 00:03, August 28, 2012 (UTC)
I think we'll need a new category for these images, something like "Final Fantasy Mystic Quest Map Images‎". So, how do we create a new category for the images? Fenrir9 (talk) 02:57, August 29, 2012 (UTC)
Go to http://finalfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Category:Final_Fantasy_XYZ_Blahblah_Images and create a page there that has no content and is categorized into Category:Blahblah_Images|Final_Fantasy_XYZ and Category:Final_Fantasy_XYZ|Blahblah_Images . C A T U S E 03:01, August 29, 2012 (UTC)
Thanks Catuse167, hope I've done it right. Fenrir9 (talk) 03:10, August 29, 2012 (UTC)

RE: Ninja Blades[edit source]

Oh really, I didn't check the stats. I never equipped it for obvious reasons. I meant that the equipped character would never puts out his shield to block an attack. Again, never did equipped the shield. Testing would be needed. I do know that if you used Optimize, it'll auto-equipped it along with Bone Mail, Cursed Ring, and Thornlet. Sharing this nuisance. Ninja Blade are a separate category in the Ivalice games, same with FFV if I am not mistaken, FFVI as them group with Daggers. Don't know about FFXI, and I don't remember about FFXII. Currently, all Daggers are cram together. You'll need to check out the weapon pages or "jobs" - International version of FFXII. Fenrir9 (talk) 08:08, September 6, 2012 (UTC)
Okay, I'll make the Ninja Blade page. The reason I chose Ninja Blade is because its the middle ground between Ninja Sword and Ninja Dagger depending on the games it appears in. Good enough? I'll create the page a little later (in 1 or 3 hours from now) if that okay with you. Fenrir9 (talk) 01:08, September 8, 2012 (UTC)
Well, the problem I see with these are that in some games, they are classified as swords, and in other games they are classified as daggers. Using blade... well, it's neither specifically referring to them as sword nor daggers. Just bladed weapons used by ninjas (either swords or daggers). So, for the weapon category or page itself, calling these (sword and daggers) a neutral name for the page title would be better and less confusing. Look at the Throwing Weapon page, it not called boomerang because it has other various weapons that can be thrown, etc. Nearly all those weapon have boomerang-like features. Similar to how Ninja Blades have sword-like and/or dagger-like features. So, I'm going with a neutral name for the article since we'll be talking about swords and daggers specifically used by ninjas. Got some time now, so I'm going to start at it. Fenrir9 (talk) 01:51, September 8, 2012 (UTC)

Golden Age of Final Fantasy?[edit source]

From Final Fantasy VII to Final Fantasy XII (1997-2006), according to Square Enix. Couldn't agree more, but VI should be place right in there. Source: http://kotaku.com/5941239/even-square-enix-admits-the-playstation-era-was-the-golden-age Fenrir9 (talk) 21:09, September 9, 2012 (UTC)

Move[edit source]

Do not copy and paste pages, use the Move/Rename feature. 15:30, September 10, 2012 (UTC)

Thanks for the info, so that's how it's done. Is there anything else that I need to know so I don't screw up? Fenrir9 (talk) 22:39, September 10, 2012 (UTC)

Help identifying battlebacks[edit source]

So I got most of the images uploaded (tomorrow I start the insane task of editing the checkerboards and then uploading them) but I don't know what a few are. Specifically:

  • 115 - FFHacktics calls this a Banished Fort but the wiki has no information about any place called Banished Fort, I sure don't remember a Banished Fort, and Google is utterly unhelpful.
  • 116 - FFHacktics calls this an Arena. What Arena?
  • 117 - Not even the FFHacktics guys know what this is; maybe it was a scrapped Tutorial level?
  • 118 - Another Tutorial-looking thing.
  • 119
  • 125 - 6 images are missing, then this. Do they have human chess in medieval Ivalice, I wonder? :P

Don't stress if you can't figure it out, I'll just make a FFHacktics account and ask on the boards there; and failing that, I'll just add them to the List of Dummied Content or whatever it's called page. Thanks in advance. C A T U S E 23:21, September 12, 2012 (UTC)

115 - This is where Dycedarg kills Larg in front of Zalbaag. If I recall correctly, I believe its called Forsaken Fort/Fort Forsaken in PSP - I'll youtube it or you can do it too.
116 - This appears during the intro video where they showcase all the jobs using a few skills from their skillsets. Don't press any buttons after inserting the disc into the PSX.
117 - Debugged/testing purpose battlefield, my guess would be that it was suppose to appear in the tutorial or it was a debugging field to test units, their attack range, arrows, guns, spells, character personal jump stat (height) etc. I say it was a debugging battlefield.
Same as 117 (gun range?, arrow range?, jump stat?).

Brigade[edit source]

Name's are provided at Final Fantasy Brigade/Translations which is currently ongoing, you can grab it from there. Fenrir9 (talk) 07:00, September 20, 2012 (UTC)
Just be on the lookout for new images, it'll be much easier to keep track of things. Fenrir9 (talk) 22:49, September 22, 2012 (UTC)
I purposely skipped over the Knuckles section because I just saw them mix with the Books. The previous site I used didn't even listed them at all. Well, I guess they are melee weapons or close combat range weapons similar to knuckles/claws. Anyways, I'll separate them from the knuckles and give them their own section tomorrow. Fenrir9 (talk) 02:34, September 23, 2012 (UTC)

RE: FFTA[edit source]

No problem at all Xenomic, I'm going to take a short break before starting the next set of Brigade abilities on the Translation page. Fenrir9 (talk) 09:00, September 24, 2012 (UTC)
Ancient Sword (古代の剣) - Kodai no Ken. I'm no expert myself, what I did for the majority of the Brigade stuff is input the kanji/kana in the search field and most of the time it produce results. If some of them you can't find or anything, keep a list of them and post them here and I'll take care of it once I'm done which shouldn't be very long. Fenrir9 (talk) 07:43, September 26, 2012 (UTC)
It's better than nothing, I'll take a look at it and fill in the blanks with the help of the Japanese wiki. Got to do other stuff on the wiki before that. Fenrir9 (talk) 05:36, September 27, 2012 (UTC)

Edit: Could you catalogue what is missing in the fields in the translation page (Items, weapon, armor, etc) when you have the time, that would make it easier for me. Fenrir9 (talk) 08:14, September 27, 2012 (UTC)

Those separations look nicer and makes things easier to edit stuff into or make corrections, etc. But this is just my personal preference. But for Brigade, I did it that way because it's a ongoing game and more stuff will be added. I think new stuff comes out every week if I am not mistaken. Fenrir9 (talk) 11:02, September 27, 2012 (UTC)

True, every bit true. Notice that lots of nihongo is missing on the command abilities such as Necromancer's Darkarts. Guess I'll have to fill in those. Fenrir9 (talk) 20:09, September 27, 2012 (UTC)

TAY Enemies[edit source]

Thanks for getting rid of the Japanese, I meant to the other day during my edit spree, but I'm an easily distracted procrastinator :p. Doreiku Kuroofangu 13:54, October 4, 2012 (UTC) Oh, so that was you? I remember see someone posting that he/she was going to do it or something but left it unfinished. Well, since I was on that page and was doing something entire differently, I decided to finish it. Fenrir9 (talk) 10:35, October 11, 2012 (UTC)

No worries, someone else would have jumped on it, but you always seem to know what you're doing, so I'm glad it was you! Tia-LewiseRydia - Young battle.png 10:38, October 11, 2012 (UTC)
Are you able to expand a little here? Thanks! Tia-LewiseRydia - Young battle.png 11:51, October 18, 2012 (UTC)

God, I love it when somebody does this. Thank you very much Tia-Lewise, I really appreciate this. Fenrir9 (talk) 14:04, October 18, 2012 (UTC)

Is that...sarcastic? I can't tell. Thanks for helping out, anyway. Tia-LewiseRydia - Young battle.png 14:52, October 18, 2012 (UTC)

Nope, not sarcastic at all. I really appreciate it! I really do. Fenrir9 (talk) 14:56, October 18, 2012 (UTC)
Glad to hear it. Thanks for always being so helpful. Tia-LewiseRydia - Young battle.png 15:22, October 18, 2012 (UTC)
I was quite happy when you posted that because I didn't see it when looking through the recent change area. If I did offend you in some way for a couple of moments, then I apologies since that was not my intention. Thank you for posting it since I would of either have never known, or I would have found the article in a few month(s). I just want to say that if there are more, just post them here and I really do appreciate what you are doing. Again, sorry about that. I should of posted it a little more clearer, it was pretty much on the spur of the moment type of thing on how I felt. My bad on my part... Fenrir9 (talk) 15:35, October 18, 2012 (UTC)

No offence taken! :) No worries, I'll come to you again if I create any more pages that I might need your help with. Tia-LewiseRydia - Young battle.png 15:39, October 18, 2012 (UTC)

Interlude Stuff[edit source]

Thanks for fixing up the lists, it's been a while since I've played the original IV so I had to judge equipment by the list pages. :). Can't believe I missed Porom, I recall having a tab open for her. Doreiku Kuroofangu 14:11, October 16, 2012 (UTC)

No problem, the Weapon and armor pages suck because it "generalizes" all equipment in the categories. I've been thinking of adding a Character column, don't know if you could help me out on this one. Still have to do more stuff for Interlude's character pages. Fenrir9 (talk) 14:16, October 16, 2012 (UTC)
Yeah, would be pretty simple. I'm doing something for the Halloween theme atm, but I'll add a column in a little bit. :) Doreiku Kuroofangu 14:42, October 16, 2012 (UTC)

Tactics Images[edit source]

By any chance, do you recognize File:Broke Down Shed-Wooden Building.png and File:Broke Down Shed-Stone Building.png? C A T U S E 18:24, October 20, 2012 (UTC)

File:Broke Down Shed-Wooden Building.png - After rescuing Besrudio Bunansa or interrogation in Merchant City of Dorter by Argath Thadalfus. I suggest you youtube this one, not sure which is which. File:Broke Down Shed-Stone Building.png - Finding the marquis Elmdore wounded, Wiegraf escapes. Death of Gustav Margueriff. Fenrir9 (talk) 18:37, October 20, 2012 (UTC)
Thanks. YouTube says the wooden building is the one where Besrudio is held; the Dorter shed doesn't have any sunlight on the carpet. C A T U S E 18:47, October 20, 2012 (UTC)

List of Final Fantasy IV: The After Years Armor[edit source]

I don't recall precisely, but I presume that like before, it's more complex than "<character> can use all of this equipment type". So, is there a need for a column to note who can equip what? Doreiku Kuroofangu 05:14, October 23, 2012 (UTC)

I'm not too sure since I've played FFIV:TAY over a year or more ago when it came out on the PSP. Just on the safe side, it would be better. I'm guessing it follows what FFIV did with the equipment. Not everyone can equip all types of armor. Fenrir9 (talk) 05:29, October 23, 2012 (UTC)
Right then, I'll rework the templates with an empty field for the characters and put a Table template at the top of the page. I'm replaying TAY now but I'm flat too lazy to check all party members with all equipment. Doreiku Kuroofangu 05:49, October 23, 2012 (UTC)
Yeah, same here. There are just too many characters lol. Maybe someone already documented who can equip what on gamefaqs? Worth a look someday. Fenrir9 (talk) 05:53, October 23, 2012 (UTC)
Yeah, the huge cast bugged me about TAY. There's 22 characters, but in terms of battle skills, how many of the new characters are Type-B versions of old ones? Looked at GameFAQs, and yup, the equipment list isn't clear-cut. At least there's a guide for anyone who wants to add the info (if you want to :p Doreiku Kuroofangu 06:11, October 23, 2012 (UTC)

The same problem with FFVI too, 14 is way too much. Don't get me started with Umaro. Harley was suppose to be a blue mage, but she was strip of it and the dolls became the blue magicians. That piss me off because the dolls are totally unreliable and useless, you lose them early and at the final chapter, they are quite low level. 5 ninjas? We don't need that many ninjas, especially since they are "watered-down" version of Edge and have "ripoff" skills from other characters (that kite jump thing). They should of been temporary characters like the Monks. That game suffers from other flaws too, but that would become a wall of text here lol.

I knew someone catalog it on gamefaqs, I wasn't too sure about it. I still have to do the FFIV DS weapons & armor page (got to separate those), FFLIII & FFMQ statuses pages before I tackle the FFIV:TAY weapons and armor pages for who can equip what. Fenrir9 (talk) 13:49, October 23, 2012 (UTC)

Maenad[edit source]

Would you be able to get your hands on her PSP sprite from anywhere? Doreiku Kuroofangu 15:11, November 1, 2012 (UTC)

There's no way I can connect my PSP to my computer (don't have the cable to do that, I forgot what's it's called) and I don't even known how to take a screenshot on the PSP. Even if I did know, I couldn't upload it to my computer sadly. But if you mean, a PSP screenshot found on the internet, I could find you one. I've seen many. Fenrir9 (talk) 15:48, November 1, 2012 (UTC)
That's alright, thanks. Firebird uploaded a lot of PSP sprites, he may be able to get one. Doreiku Kuroofangu 17:08, November 1, 2012 (UTC)

While you are at it, there's still a bunch missing. I hate to impose on someone else, and I wish I could do it myself. List is here: Forum:Updating Images. Fenrir9 (talk) 17:42, November 1, 2012 (UTC)

I'll pass them along. Doreiku Kuroofangu 17:49, November 1, 2012 (UTC)

FFT Images[edit source]

Right now I'm in the middle of getting grid images for the random battles, and I realized we have a problem. Not all of these random battle maps are used in a storyline battle, meaning there's no place to put the relevant items-on-the-ground data. I'm leaning on just creating another template for random battles that has topography, items, and other non-unit-related data, but what you think? C A T U S E 16:38, November 4, 2012 (UTC)

Oh my god, that's right. I think there's 4 different types of random battles on a single battlefield if I remember correctly. All of them as the same treasure, but different types of enemy groupings and different stating placement. Yes, it would definitely be quite better to create a random battle template for them. Fenrir9 (talk) 17:04, November 4, 2012 (UTC)
This look any good? C A T U S E 04:41, November 7, 2012 (UTC)
Yep, looks great! Fenrir9 (talk) 04:47, November 7, 2012 (UTC)

Bronze Tails[edit source]

I've reported this on the page for the tail collector home but am now unsure having done some level grinding. In Edward's Tale, is it possible to get enough tails to get more than one Gold Tail? Because I have 15 Bronze and 2 Silver and now enemies no longer drop them. Doreiku Kuroofangu 02:18, November 5, 2012 (UTC)

Personally, I've never went for any of the tails. If the enemy drops them, you can horde all you want. The item limit is 99. I don't see why not. I do know that the RNG sucks in this game. I know this post serves to add no new information and it probably doesn't answer the question that you are looking for. Sorry about that. Fenrir9 (talk) 02:27, November 5, 2012 (UTC)
It's okay - Tail Farming has been a source of great frustration to me as well, somehow I've gotten two Cursed Rings, but nooooo Tails, because of course, Tails might useful! I only find it odd because I was getting Bronze tails frequently early in the tail, and now nothing, so maybe the game keeps track of how many you need for the Gold and caps you. Doreiku Kuroofangu 03:02, November 5, 2012 (UTC)
I wouldn't be surprise if it was cap, I mean your levels are caped now that I think about it. I always hated the drop system they used for FFIV. It's quite harsh on the player... Fenrir9 (talk) 03:11, November 5, 2012 (UTC)

Just got Bronze Tail #16, so yeah, I guess I just got really lucky before. Doreiku Kuroofangu 03:37, November 5, 2012 (UTC)

Adding PSP Images to pages[edit source]

Thanks for adding the images I've uploaded to their respective pages. Due to Hurricane Sandy I don't have much time on my laptop between going to changing stations then finding wifi.  Cecily Redwingslogo.png  20:40, November 6, 2012 (UTC)

Mass Work All Around![edit source]

I've done my fair share of the statuses, so I'm letting the other wikians do their FF# statuses page(s). I'm currently occupied with real world stuff, so I'm here on and off from time to time. Fenrir9 (talk) 01:57, November 11, 2012 (UTC)

RE: Images~[edit source]

I've took care of the Unarmed for FFTA and FFTA2, unless you can put some better ones up. Other than that, all images of Unarmed are up. Fenrir9 (talk) 03:58, November 13, 2012 (UTC)

Brigade images[edit source]

Just wanted to bring this to your attention: we've got Lightning using either Imperilga or Ruinga (not sure since they're both the same thing), and then stuff like this and this (different backgrounds and used on different things). Wasn't sure if we should put the dup template on them or what. --Shockstorm (talk) 05:21, November 21, 2012 (UTC)

The stuff that I upload and I add it on the translation page at the same time I update the stuff for Brigade. So the image that I didn't put up are not from my doing. When I started Brigade, I started from scratch and ignored what was already up on the wiki so you'll find duplicates of images I am sure. I put everything up that was currently available and if you don't find it on the translation page. It's either wrong/made up/error/etc. I'm not saying I'm better or anything, but I always cross check everything before I upload it here. Only once the Japanese site I use had bad info for a single weapon (A gunblade). The translation page is the info I found on this website. The site I use to get these images are updated weekly. Brigade takes around 1-2 hours to upload when the Japanese update it (usually around Monday night or Tuesday early morning for us), I check and doubt check through the English wiki's translation pages and cross reference it with the Japanese wiki before I upload and sometimes through google. I have around six tabs open in my browser when I update Brigade. So the name I cannot find are either newly introduce abilities to the series (only happened a few times), but Brigade is pretty much a homage to all Final Fantasies. So for those images that I didn't upload, if they don't appear on the translation page, I would delete them to keep it accurate to the translation page. As for the different backgrounds, that's just the rarity of the cards/Images. There's N, N+, R, R+, SR, SR+, SSR, and SSR+. Fenrir9 (talk) 06:07, November 21, 2012 (UTC)
Ok thanks, just wanted to make sure. I guess we should keep the ones with different backgrounds then. --Shockstorm (talk) 06:19, November 21, 2012 (UTC)

Template![edit source]

I like it, way better compare to what it use to be. Less wordy, more cleaner. Easier to use as well. No complains from me. Fenrir9 (talk) 03:41, December 13, 2012 (UTC)

Table Coding[edit source]

That's how I have been showed how to do it, I didn't know it was the wrong way, so when did the new format came in? Is this recently? Anyways, I'll get right to it at the end of all the "main" (template) FFLII articles. Fenrir9 (talk) 19:01, December 17, 2012 (UTC)

The first point was introduced this year or last: can't remember. The second one: is actually my opinion, but let's save the code and space on the page making it clearer when edited. The third one: anchors are here as long as I can remember as initially anchors are only built-in into the headings.—Kaimi (999,999 CP/5 TP) 19:07, December 17, 2012 (UTC)

Nice job[edit source]

Just wanted to say that you've done a tremendous amount of work on not only FFLII and III, but also disambigs and stuff as well. Oh, and Merry Christmas :) --Shockstorm (talk) 21:50, December 24, 2012 (UTC)

Thank you Shockstorm, you've done quite a lot yourself as well with those disambigs too. Only thing left to do is grab pics here and there and de-stub all FFLII stubs. And Merry Christmas to you too! :) Fenrir9 (talk) 22:02, December 24, 2012 (UTC)

I have no clue if I'm going to complete/play it like I played through FFLII. Even if I say this, I felt the same way as my first sentence that I posted in this paragraph before I got an interest in FFLII. I'll probably only do the list of weapons, armor, etc in the beginning and I'll see if that inspires me to play through it. Not making any promises, but at less the biggest pages will be out of the way. Fenrir9 (talk) 23:01, December 24, 2012 (UTC)

"Battle weapon"[edit source]

I believe you were the guy who added "Battle - A song and a weapon." to the Articles to Move list, but I can't find the game that has a weapon called "Battle" in it. So, which one is it? C A T U S E 23:06, December 30, 2012 (UTC)

I'll recheck, hmm we might have a bit of a problem. There's a Battle (Sword) and Battle (Armor) in FFLII. Also a Battle (Hammer), Battle (Sword), and Battle (Armor) in FFLIII. There's definitely not enough Battle theme "items" to warrant a Battle Equipment articles, there might be a "few" in other games, but still not enough for a Battle Equipment article. Omit them? When I posted it, I only saw the Battle (Sword), and thus put it up there. Good thing I look through some of the weapon list. Anyways, the Battle page still needs to be disambigs because of the Battle (Final Fantasy) theme song and the current Battle article which is a term. Fenrir9 (talk) 02:47, December 31, 2012 (UTC)
Ah, okay. I'll split the page tomorrow. We might make Battle Axe into a Battle Equipment page with the Battle items in Legend games. C A T U S E 04:00, December 31, 2012 (UTC)
There is also Battle Boots (FFIX & FFT if I recall correctly). There could be more Battle stuff. Fenrir9 (talk) 16:15, December 31, 2012 (UTC)

"Battle" was the name of Battle Axe in one FFV translation, although someone has appeared to have removed it from the top of the Battle page. 16:29, December 31, 2012 (UTC)

FFVI Statuses[edit source]

Only missing Sap, Dance, Reraise, Charm, HP Leak, Grab, and Cover. Do you still have those "fight any enemy code", I would really need them for the remaining images since the majority are enemy specific. Fenrir9 (talk) 00:39, January 1, 2013 (UTC)

Thanks, leave it to me. Jumping on this right away. Fenrir9 (talk) 00:49, January 1, 2013 (UTC)

Nope, it's not a element in FFIV. Its merely the weapon's property. You can't create a drain-elemental spell because it doesn't exist. But I can create more Dark/Holy/Fire/Ice/Lightning elemental spell through hacking. Quake deals non-elemental damage, I can change that to make it deal Dark-elemental damage, etc. I don't know if you understand what I'm saying, but I simply cannot explain it better than this. FFMQ is special, it looks like it was suppose to have a elemental system (think Pokemon), but was drop because Square transformed it into a beginners RPG. The closes thing to FFMQ is FFLIII. Fenrir9 (talk) 05:05, January 1, 2013 (UTC)

Oh, you were following the faqs you posted on the talk page, then delete your entry for the following pages please: FFIV, FFIV DS, FFVI, FFMQ, FFLI, FFLII, and FFLIII. I'll do these personally. I though you were following the Translation articles, there are all posted there. Fenrir9 (talk) 05:15, January 1, 2013 (UTC)

I've separated FFIV from FFIV DS, DS gets its own page because its a totally different game. Don't worry, I've already went and created that page. Fenrir9 (talk) 05:34, January 1, 2013 (UTC)

Favor[edit source]

Don't worry about FFMQ, FFLI, FFLII, FFLIII. I'll take care of them. Fenrir9 (talk) 05:58, January 21, 2013 (UTC)

You can go ahead with the others if you want to, I have to finish FFLII and start FFLI right after. Fenrir9 (talk) 06:11, January 21, 2013 (UTC)

FFIX Icons Images[edit source]

FFVI Terra Branford Menu iOS.png

Edit conflict: @Zenomic: Luckily I manage to find some, but not all. I got all the items/weapons/armor/add-ons. But not the statuses and a few misc images that I will post on the forum Needing Image thread. I would get them, but the PSX emulator won't work on my computer. Someone else will need to do them. It's thanks to Drake that I can now do transparencies and such, its quite easy.
@Drake: All items/jewels have different palettes to them from what I can see. Fenrir9 (talk) 18:38, February 3, 2013 (UTC)

Oh, okay then. I recall finding them like, last year, and I shirked away from uploading because I was too lazy to go through and make sure they were all different. Good to know now. ;p Doreiku Kuroofangu 19:14, February 3, 2013 (UTC)

Thanks[edit source]

Thanks for cleaning up after me today, I appreciate it. I'm tired now, I'm gonna boot up Pokemon Conquest and relax :p Doreiku Kuroofangu 02:25, February 9, 2013 (UTC)

In response to the Gale edit summary, I tagged the others as Ninjutsu because there are other abilities called that using the Ability tag. Gale, not so. Doreiku Kuroofangu 02:32, February 9, 2013 (UTC)

No problem, I was just logging in and saw you going around and creating pages. So I lend you a hand once you were done with the page(s). Fenrir9 (talk) 02:37, February 9, 2013 (UTC)

Number of units at Orbonne Monastery[edit source]

Say Fenrir, I was wondering if you knew anything about the number of units that could be sent into battle at Orbonne Monastery -- because right now, the page says 22 + Ramza, which doesn't make any sense because there isn't a unit select screen before the battle, and even if there was, of course the guests make 5 + Ramza. C A T U S E 02:36, February 19, 2013 (UTC)

The number of teams is also strange: 11. Same thing: no unit select screen and to me there is only one team (actually, only brought this here because of the above comment). JCHK 02:59, February 19, 2013 (UTC)
If I'm not mistaken, I believe there can only be up to 16 units max present on any battlefield (this includes Ramza, and/or any other guest units + # of units the player deploys). But yeah, 22 units + Ramza equal to 23 is a odd number. In that battle, theoretically, the player can't deploy any units because they are all guest characters. And we know that guest characters can't be put on the formation screen. Fenrir9 (talk) 03:16, February 19, 2013 (UTC)
Huh. Well, I'll ask Xeno, I think he has some sort of hacking tool that he might be able to use. C A T U S E 03:21, February 19, 2013 (UTC)

I place a formation screen before the first battle, and tested it. It completely ignored it and went straight to the battle. Either the game was design to skip the formation screen entirely or because Ramza was the only one available/playable in the party on the formation, or... insert your theory here. If you ask me, simply void the entry and be done with it. My hacking skills are limited for this game and I don't know much about the internal working, so you are better off asking some hacking expert(s) who worked on the game heavily which I recommend. An explanation could be put on the article itself if a satisfying answer is given. Fenrir9 (talk) 13:37, February 19, 2013 (UTC)

Tactics[edit source]

While the info you just put in is nice, it doesn't sound like a dummied feature, since there's nothing there to suggest you have to find some sort of debug or put any cheats in to see these characters, you've described it as if you can just find them. Can you explain why these characters are dummied? Tia-LewiseRydia - Young battle.png 21:30, February 26, 2013 (UTC)

There's no way the player can see these portraits unless the player hack these characters into the party roster. There's no interaction within the game, such as walking around town and talking to these folks. When any characters speak, there's a portrait that accompanies the text inside the talk bubble. Only their sprite models are used within the game, not their portraits. Fenrir9 (talk) 21:36, February 26, 2013 (UTC)
Okay, I understand now. However, there's nothing in there about hacking, so that needs to be put in just to avoid some confusion. Tia-LewiseRydia - Young battle.png 21:40, February 26, 2013 (UTC)

When deleting images[edit source]

  1. The {{Delete}} template requires use of the time parameter.
  2. You shouldn't be using {{Delete}} if you want something to be speedily deleted. That is what {{tl|SD}} is for.
  3. You shouldn't be using either of the aforementioned templates. You should be using {{dup}} and inserting the name of the file being replaced into its parameter.

Thank you. 17:17, March 1, 2013 (UTC)

FF6 Enemies[edit source]

Heads up, you probably didn't know this so it's cool, but changing the "{{{blah}}}" bits is a REALLY bad idea. That tells the template what field goes there, like "level=99", and it differentiates for caps, so changing it to "Level", every enemy page using "level=", times however many fields were changed, will suddenly show up with this stuff. I guess it isn't a big deal this time really, if Cat wants to get his bot on fixing stuff, but yeah, be aware in the future. Doreiku Kuroofangu 15:22, March 4, 2013 (UTC)

Didn't know, so I change that part back to the way it was, I thought it updates itself. Oh well, I still learn something new everyday. Thanks for the heads up. Fenrir9 (talk) 15:31, March 4, 2013 (UTC)
No problem, no harm done.. It mostly doesn't matter one way or the other, the words as they appear in the table will change fine. And FF6 particularly, if all that changes is like, Battle Power is Attack in the GBA version, it's just the stat name that changes, not the start, so as I'm gonna do, the table can say "Attack" and use the Battle Power field. The games with multiple releases do this a lot, saves a lot of copying the same stats over and over. Doreiku Kuroofangu 15:33, March 4, 2013 (UTC)

Dummied Content[edit source]

Hi, you just made a contribution on that page that made me a little bit confused; you removed this part of text and the image about a dummied Ragnarok-sprite. Your explanation was that you didn't find on the game's sprite-section or something similar. So I was going to undo you because clearly SOMEONE has found that picture, but first I checked the picture itself. And... the uploader was you... Now WHERE have you found this picture then and why did you put up that piece of information which you undid... Sorry I'm a bit confused now. Mr. T (talk)

This may help answer your questions. I googled a bit and it looks like the erroneous Ragnarok "field sprite" is nothing more than a mis-applied mishmash of the summon sprite. Espritduo (talk) 15:41, March 12, 2013 (UTC)
Edit conflict: I didn't found it within the "field" sprite data within the rom, the sprite is made from pieces from the actual Ragnarok summon in-battle data sprite or a collage of it. The sprite was shorten, missing the long blade part. When I uploaded this picture a long time ago, I wasn't into hex editing nor knew anything of it. Heck, I didn't even know what an offset was at the time and had a hard time understanding what it was. I've found this sprite on a website back then about FFVI dummy out stuff, and the picture was there with info and I grab it like any typical noob out there lol. Anyways, I am far wiser now since I learn how to do some hex editing (I am not an expect), since I know more than I use too about hex editing and found some programs to view images and such, this so call "sprite" isn't even present within the "field" sprite data, but I did find this sprite within the summoned esper data. Clearly, someone posted this up by making this collage and posting it as real info. I've also come across other websites that posted info about dummy out stuff from FFVI and I've found out myself first hand that some of their info are false. I also played around with the rom and personally tested what is truly dummied and what is not. I hope this explanation is found satisfying because I can't add more to it from what as already been said. Fenrir9 (talk) 15:53, March 12, 2013 (UTC)
Oh yeah I completely understand :) Satisfied me enough, now I'm not that confused anymore. Mr. T (talk) 09:38, March 16, 2013 (UTC)

"Missing" Type-0 Weapon Images[edit source]

Hello! So I noticed that you flagged several weapon pages as needing their images from Type-0. However, the game doesn't have individual icons for its weapons, only one icon for all weapons of the same category. So, should the weapon icon be added as the representing image for Type-0? :o Mierna 05:29, March 21, 2013 (UTC)

I've never played the game since it never came out in English sadly, but I've seen the weapon models used in battle. No choice but to wait until someone rips the weapon models from the game. Fenrir9 (talk) 05:33, March 21, 2013 (UTC)
Ah, okay. The weapon models also don't change, so there is only one standard appearance of a weapon regardless of whatever the character has equipped. If this was what you had in mind? :3 Mierna 05:43, March 21, 2013 (UTC)
Yep, just like the images I uploaded today for Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings. All of them only have one standard/generic weapon sprite. Fenrir9 (talk) 06:13, March 21, 2013 (UTC)
Awesome, then the spots will be left open until weapon models are ripped. Just wanted to clarify this. Thanks! Mierna 08:04, March 21, 2013 (UTC)

Mindu Gem[edit source]

I get where you're coming from, that all three have the same or similar Japanese names, but 1) We don't ever link to disambigs, and 2) Someone playing TA and looking for "Mindu Gem" isn't affected by what the Japanese name is. - +DeadlySlashSword+ 19:59, March 25, 2013 (UTC)

I understand what you are saying, but what about those who are looking to see if said item made an appearance(s) in another game(s), we all know that these items are most of the time translated into something else completely in the English version. Fenrir9 (talk) 21:15, March 25, 2013 (UTC)
Fenrir9 is right. When people type in a word without specifying the game they are doing one of two things: looking for the link to the specific thing they had in mind, or looking for all instances of said search item in the series. We should cater to both searching needs, and thus if it is actually the same item, but only differing in translation, we include it. A simple test is this - Would we include it on a recurring entry page for the item? If so, then it should also be on the disambig page, which is often times just a stripped-down version of a recurring page for items that don't yet meet the #appearances quota. Espritduo (talk) 21:28, March 25, 2013 (UTC)
Which is why the appearances quota stunts growth. If two things in two appearances are clearly the same thing then why not have a parent? "Too many pages"? Why is it too many?
Which is why I'm torn on the matter. Disambigs are to help you get to a page. No need to bother putting multiple things with the same Japanese name on there because it's not helping. And a disambig listing all the appearances of something might be considered to serve half the purpose of a parent, but it's not serving the purpose of a parent as it doesn't care to point out things are the same. On that page there could be things that have no relevance to this recurring thing with different names. 22:34, March 25, 2013 (UTC)
Well, if we had parent pages for every little thing that has two appearances, it would be too much for too little, I think. If it's only two appearances, there isn't enough "general" info beyond each specific appearance to make a full page out of. This is where disambig's are useful. They are like a proto-parent page for when there really isn't anything to be said about the overall appearance of the thing in the series beyond "yeah, it appears in these two games". Once something gets "x" number of appearances, enough can be said about general trends, traditions, and styles to make a full page out of. Now, what "x" should be is, and probably always will be, a matter of dispute. I think most people would agree a mere two is not enough.
And I disagree that the *only* purpose of a disambig is to help users find a specific page. A disambiguation page is there to remove ambiguity about a term. Alternate translations of the same term is a source of ambiguity that can and does hinder effective searching. I use disambigs, both here and on wikipedia, just as often to find something specific as I do to find all the general appearances/uses of something. I know that if I were looking for all general instances of the thing known as the Orb of Minwu, I would want its mistranslated FFTA version to show up on the disambig page as well. (and of course, keeping track of alternate translations of the same thing makes it much easier to know exactly how many appearances we've got when it comes to deciding whether or not to turn a disambig into a parent page) Espritduo (talk) 23:21, March 25, 2013 (UTC)

The Wiki thanks you[edit source]

I know this might sound completely random, but I needed to say that you have been doing an amazing job in the wiki, always bringing new information, completing tables, adding images and all this stuff. Every time I see the recent activity, I see at least one contribution coming for you. I wish that you continue like this for a long time, and good luck on everything you do on your life. May God bless you. JC Holy Knight (talk) 03:04, April 21, 2013 (UTC)

No problem, and thank you. I'm mostly motivated when finding post from forums outside of the wiki where one poster ask info about certain things. Majority of the time its related to older games (FFI-FFVI) from new generation of gamers or new to the franchise (played the newer FFs, first time playing the older games), but sometimes FFVII-FFIX, and on rare occasion FFX and above. Anyways, when I look up the wiki for said info, from time to time we usually don't have the information they seek. Even some posters outright say something along the line of; I look it up at the wiki, and couldn't find said information. The rest of the time comes from trying to make the articles better looking for easy reading/viewing so searchers can find and locate their info ASAP on said article. As long as what I post helps the wiki and/or those seeking information/images.etc, that's good enough for me. Fenrir9 (talk) 22:40, April 21, 2013 (UTC)

Sprites[edit source]

Where'd you find the recent FFV and FFVI sprites? Doreiku Kuroofangu 07:59, April 22, 2013 (UTC)

Which ones? Oh, do you mean the Animals and related stuff? Gotten some from sprite resource and the others from the game itself where I took a screenshot and removed the background. Fenrir9 (talk) 08:04, April 22, 2013 (UTC)
Ah, okay. Damn, thought you found a site I didn't know about :( I've been looking for a while for the animation sprites for Terra's transformation to try and make a gif for it, but never got them. Doreiku Kuroofangu 08:13, April 22, 2013 (UTC)

You mean the redish-white Bushido "effect" on Terra when transforming, kind of like when casting offense magic's red circle or Lore's blue triangle? Speaking of Terra, should she be placed on the Esper (Final Fantasy VI) article? I mean, its also an article about espers as a race of people too (well, according to the category at the bottom), and personally she should be included with info that humans and esper can have children since Terra is haft-human and haft-esper. Plus she has an esper form (through the Trance command), which disappears at the end of the game. There should be a small section on her, and put a See Also to her Trance command between the header and small paragraph. Fenrir9 (talk) 17:57, April 22, 2013 (UTC)

Yeah, the little rising aura when she changes, never found sprites for that anywhere, and I've looked hard. Found full set of Ultima sprites but not Trance. And yeah, she can be listed there, she is technically an Esper after all. Doreiku Kuroofangu 18:17, April 22, 2013 (UTC)

Read everything before doing it. There is one way of doing it, but you'll need to have some patience. Get Zsnes emulator with the rom, then google the following: final fantasy vi save states. It should be your first result. Then disable the following before Trance occurs, also hit pause when you have Terra selected with the cursor on the Trance/Morph command, and do a save state so you can reload right before Terra Trance for safety measures if you screw up (you'll save some time). Press the following keys: BG2 Layer (key 2 on my keyboard) and Sprite Layer (key 5). This will leave nothing but the Trance aura on a black background. Hit un-pause and press the confirm button (I don't remember, but you have to hit it twice? I forgot). Right after confirming the command and before she executes it. Press Ctrl + F1 (I have Vista) or simply F1 (non-Vista) which will bring up the Misc Options, and hit Snapshot / Incr Frm and keep hitting this option until the red aura plays through from beginning to end. Now, if you want Terra within the red aura, then don't disable the Sprite Layer (Key 5) and simply disable the BG2 Layer (Battle Background). Any question, feel free to ask. Fenrir9 (talk) 19:28, April 22, 2013 (UTC)

Cool, I'll give it a shot tonight. Thanks. Doreiku Kuroofangu 20:26, April 22, 2013 (UTC)
Also a note in the future, rather than upload a new image for things like the Magitek and Esper attacks, you can upload a new version and post on the Staff noticeboard they need moving to a new file name. An even easier way if you use IRC is to hop on the wiki chat, there's almost always an active mod or admin there (including me) that you can talk to in real time. Doreiku Kuroofangu 20:27, April 22, 2013 (UTC)

IRC never worked for me, so I gave it up a long time ago. So many countless hours wasted on that thing trying to make it work... As for files, I don't understand since I'm uploading new files with the correct names already. The wrongly correct/collage/non-source/etc needs to be deleted, they look so unprofessional. After Tools, only Dance and Blitz and I'm done. Fenrir9 (talk) 20:59, April 22, 2013 (UTC)

I mean, rather than upload "File:FFVI Debilitator's Background.png" and tag "File:Debilitator.PNG" for deletion, you can upload your superior image as a new version of "File:Debilitator.PNG", then ask an Admin to move it to "File:FFVI Debilitator's Background.png".
IRC, not sure what you mean it doesn't work. I use Chatzilla, works fine. Doreiku Kuroofangu 21:45, April 22, 2013 (UTC)

I'll do that for the Blitzes, I don't feel like renaming all those Dances that I already have, as for the IRC. I haven't tried that in years... decades even. Where is this page that I put a notice? I know there use to be a what wikian can do list somewhere too if they do not know what to contribute. Fenrir9 (talk) 21:51, April 22, 2013 (UTC)

Project:Staff Noticeboard. As for the IRC, there's this page, it's a two-step process and there you are, if the interface isn't pretty.
As for ZSNES, I downloaded files from what you said are the first link, I have a .srm and a .zst, neither of which loads in ZSNES. Doreiku Kuroofangu 21:55, April 22, 2013 (UTC)

They must be the same name of the rom. If the rom is named is ff3.smc, then rename to ff3.zst and/or ff3.srm. Fenrir9 (talk) 22:00, April 22, 2013 (UTC)

They're both the same, 22-Yeti's Cave.extension. Doreiku Kuroofangu 22:02, April 22, 2013 (UTC)
Both 22-Yeti's Cave.extension must be renamed to that of your rom name for it to worked. If your rom name is ff3.smc or FFIII or Final Fantasy 3, then both zst and srm must be renamed to ff3.extension or FFIII.extension or Final Fantasy 3.extension. Fenrir9 (talk) 22:06, April 22, 2013 (UTC)
What rom? You mean ZSNES? Doreiku Kuroofangu 22:13, April 22, 2013 (UTC)

Ah, I understand now. Google Final Fantasy 3 snes rom, first site will do. You'll need to unzip it. Now put the rom in your zsnes folder and makes sure the rom (smc), zst, and srm all have the same name. Click the zsnes and everything should work. Fenrir9 (talk) 22:20, April 22, 2013 (UTC)

Got it! Thanks a lot :) Doreiku Kuroofangu 22:31, April 22, 2013 (UTC)

Lol, I was just going to post to see if you got it to work. Fenrir9 (talk) 22:32, April 22, 2013 (UTC)

Airborne Brigade Template[edit source]

Kimlasca warrior told me that there's 3 tiers for jobs, is this information available on the wiki? Check the Airborne Brigade main page, I think its there. It looks good. Fenrir9 (talk) 03:07, May 4, 2013 (UTC)

Thanks Xenomic, there's no information on gamefaqs for this game, so I provided "bare" articles for those who plays the game if they want to put information. It's up to them to fill out the missing information, as like you, I don't know much of the game. If they spot an error or missing info, they'll correct or place it. Fenrir9 (talk) 03:28, May 4, 2013 (UTC)

Dancing Girl[edit source]

Ooh, my favorite FFIV NPC :3 Sure thing! Wait, which one, when she's wearing a dress or when she's wearing a bikini? s̅̅s̅̅o̅̅r̅̅c̅̅̅̅e̅̅n̅̅i̅̅v̅̅i̅̅d̅̅ 07:46, May 15, 2013 (UTC)

The wiki could use both, we only have the DS bikini one on here. Fenrir9 (talk) 11:59, May 15, 2013 (UTC)
On it. I'm gonna upload both soon....wait, does it need transparency or not? s̅̅s̅̅o̅̅r̅̅c̅̅̅̅e̅̅n̅̅i̅̅v̅̅i̅̅d̅̅ 18:56, May 16, 2013 (UTC)
Transparency would be quite nice, but its not a necessity. I'll leave it up to you if you want transparency or not. Fenrir9 (talk) 03:03, May 17, 2013 (UTC)
Yeah, there's other people here who can do transparency, so don't worry about it ;). Especially if you only have a certain amount of time to finish the game (I think you said till the end of the month). And yey Fenrir, you got a userpage :D Which reminds me, I should get mine restored. Nice to see you're still doing a ton of work on the wiki. --Shockstorm (talk) 04:43, May 17, 2013 (UTC)
I think it's better off with transparency. Wait, what's with the month thing? s̅̅s̅̅o̅̅r̅̅c̅̅̅̅e̅̅n̅̅i̅̅v̅̅i̅̅d̅̅ 17:36, May 18, 2013 (UTC)
I remember you saying that you had a limited amount of time to get the images since your family didn't want you to play after your school is finished or some such. --Shockstorm (talk) 17:49, May 18, 2013 (UTC)
Was it you that mentioned that you also had FFIII on iOS? If so, could you get the Dancing Girl in Ur (first town), she's found inside the Inn. Looking forward to the higher resolution pics of the Dancong Girl from FFIV iOS, thank you for taking the time to get them. Fenrir9 (talk) 20:20, May 18, 2013 (UTC)
Shockstorm, what the hell?! Are you some kind of stalker or something?! I just wrote that on Tia's talk page, not on the wiki's front page! (I'm sorry, I'm just shocked.) Well about that, I could get as much images as I want, my ipod's always with me. But I'm not so sure for the laptop. I do need the laptop to get the images' asses here. And no, it's Kimlasca who has FFIII. You're asking the wrong person. s̅̅s̅̅o̅̅r̅̅c̅̅̅̅e̅̅n̅̅i̅̅v̅̅i̅̅d̅̅ 05:31, May 19, 2013 (UTC)

FF6 Name[edit source]

You can hack to find stuff out, right? Drake Clawfang (talk) 16:07, May 16, 2013 (UTC)

I can to a certain extend, I don't consider myself an expect. Looking for anything specific? Fenrir9 (talk) 17:15, May 16, 2013 (UTC)
If you can find a location name in the SNES, PS or GBA versions that name the hill Celes leaps off of on the Solitary Island. Drake Clawfang (talk) 17:38, May 16, 2013 (UTC)

It's called nothing in the SNES/PSX version, the GBA version merely calls it Solitary Island just like the other areas on the island (beach and cabin). Add: Just check the Japanese wiki, they call it the Hill of Despair (絶望の丘). Don't know if this is fan-named or not. Fenrir9 (talk) 18:14, May 16, 2013 (UTC)

Yeah, that's what our translation page calls it, but it has no English names given. Dunno if it's fanmade either. Drake Clawfang (talk) 18:15, May 16, 2013 (UTC)
I just posted on Espritduo's wall about the page, he'll be able to shed some more light on the subject. Fenrir9 (talk) 18:24, May 16, 2013 (UTC)

FFIVDS Status Icons[edit source]

I see no difference between the ones you uploaded and the ones we already got honestly, except for them being double in size. We can easily do that with the ones that's already on the wiki, but we are better off getting the iOS version of the icons. Fenrir9 (talk) 03:48, May 18, 2013 (UTC)

Status thingies[edit source]

Hey Fenrir do you think we need a separate page for the FFIV iOS status thingies? The interface is different, the icons are too. s̅̅s̅̅o̅̅r̅̅c̅̅̅̅e̅̅n̅̅i̅̅v̅̅i̅̅d̅̅ 05:58, May 19, 2013 (UTC)

The DS and iOS are the same "core" game, no need to make multiple articles for the same thing. If the icons are different, than the wiki should have them on that page. Since iOS is the more recent game (to the DS), in this case the iOS icons should take the place of the DS icons while the DS icons should be moved into the Gallery. I guess this would be the right moment to make that Gallery collapsible. The article name "List of Final Fantasy IV DS Statuses" should be rename, but to what? I suggest that you post on the FFwiki forum and ask that question. Fenrir9 (talk) 06:18, May 19, 2013 (UTC)
Gah. The icons do look different. It's completely different from the DS ones. But the characters look the same. All right, I'm doing that in a moment..s̅̅s̅̅o̅̅r̅̅c̅̅̅̅e̅̅n̅̅i̅̅v̅̅i̅̅d̅̅ 06:48, May 19, 2013 (UTC)

Dancing Girl (FFIV)[edit source]

What do you

think of these?

Are those okay? About the dress one, there's no really close-up of it unlike the bikini one. Is the bikini pose fine or do you want a different one? s̅̅s̅̅o̅̅r̅̅c̅̅̅̅e̅̅n̅̅i̅̅v̅̅i̅̅d̅̅ 09:31, May 19, 2013 (UTC)

The second one is great, but did you watch all the girls dance in every area of the game? Do they all dance the same dance? I don't remember the game much, but I know in the original game they all dance different dances. Some of them might have a closer shot when they perform their dance. The reason I'm saying this is because of the current picture we got for the article... unless this image was double in size by the uploader. So it might be good to check out all the dancing girls across the world. If you don't know where to find them all, the dancing girl article list them all.
Dancing Girl.png

I think this dancing girl came from Baron. Fenrir9 (talk) 17:28, May 19, 2013 (UTC)

Hey there. Okay, everything's pretty much the same....except in Kaipo, where she messes with the oasis and she doesn't give really decent fanservice. So no, Kaipo is out. There are some poses where some of her zooms in, but it's not a complete shot of her. But if you wish, I shall try again. I'll check the other towns...s̅̅s̅̅o̅̅r̅̅c̅̅̅̅e̅̅n̅̅i̅̅v̅̅i̅̅d̅̅ 17:45, May 19, 2013 (UTC)
Fenrir, I've looked again. Agart (the first pic I gave you) has the clearest and biggest view. The girl actually zooms in. In the other towns, she doesn't. So yea, this is the best. s̅̅s̅̅o̅̅r̅̅c̅̅̅̅e̅̅n̅̅i̅̅v̅̅i̅̅d̅̅ 11:23, May 20, 2013 (UTC)

If that is the best, than that is the best. Nothing much we can do about that. Thanks for trying. Also, the info about the dancing girls should definitely be place into the dancing girl article. The stuff about the one messing up dancing in Kaipo and the others all having similar dances, etc. Also, does Troia's King's Bounty Pub still exist? All this stuff is unfortunately not documented on that article... Fenrir9 (talk) 14:04, May 20, 2013 (UTC)

Yes, that pub exists, and it's one of my favorite places in all of FFIV =P There's a pic of it in the Troia (Town) article. The dancing girls are many, and they don't zoom in, it's not really that great of a view. Agart's one is really the best. I think the oasis thing was documented in the page..s̅̅s̅̅o̅̅r̅̅c̅̅̅̅e̅̅n̅̅i̅̅v̅̅i̅̅d̅̅

FFV- Tables[edit source]

Great info on the characters' stats. But the tables, what do they show? Are they the starting stats of the characters? If so they should probably be labelled as such, since stats grow as the level up. Tia-LewiseRydia - Young battle.png 18:55, May 19, 2013 (UTC)

Base attributes. Fenrir9 (talk) 18:58, May 19, 2013 (UTC)
Thought as much. Would you mind making it clear that's what they are? Thank you ^_^ and great work, as always, much appreciated. Tia-LewiseRydia - Young battle.png 19:01, May 19, 2013 (UTC)

Sorry, but I don't know how to make it clearer. I really don't like how its phrase or sounds either (its quite vague), but if you could help me out on that part on making it less vague. I'll really appreciate it. Add: Never mind, I think I resolve the issue. Fenrir9 (talk) 19:10, May 19, 2013 (UTC)

Works just fine for me :) thanks! Tia-LewiseRydia - Young battle.png 19:24, May 19, 2013 (UTC)

Icons[edit source]

I can do all those for you, Fen. The "Reverse" icon's gonna take a while though..s̅̅s̅̅o̅̅r̅̅c̅̅̅̅e̅̅n̅̅i̅̅v̅̅i̅̅d̅̅ 16:54, May 20, 2013 (UTC)

Elements Icons[edit source]

I have the FFIV elements icons, all of them. Which category should I dump them on? s̅̅s̅̅o̅̅r̅̅c̅̅̅̅e̅̅n̅̅i̅̅v̅̅i̅̅d̅̅ 16:06, May 22, 2013 (UTC)

If I am not mistaken, I believe there's an Final Fantasy IV iOS Icon Images category, where all icons images should be in. Fenrir9 (talk) 16:36, May 22, 2013 (UTC)
It's nonexistent. s̅̅s̅̅o̅̅r̅̅c̅̅̅̅e̅̅n̅̅i̅̅v̅̅i̅̅d̅̅ 16:52, May 22, 2013 (UTC)
It can be easily be created. Fenrir9 (talk) 17:20, May 22, 2013 (UTC)
All right. I'll also move the status icon images there then. And Fenrir do you have an idea of how to get a Dark element icon? The only way I can think of are Libraing the bosses weak to it, which never works. s̅̅s̅̅o̅̅r̅̅c̅̅̅̅e̅̅n̅̅i̅̅v̅̅i̅̅d̅̅ 07:50, May 23, 2013 (UTC)

Do the weapons have a elemental icon next to Attack during battle like the DS version? If they do, you'll simply just have to start a new game and wait for the first battle onboard the airship and check the Dark Sword. The only boss that I can think of that has the Dark weakness is the Mist Dragon and Octomammoth. Are there regular monster weak to Dark? Fenrir9 (talk) 14:48, May 23, 2013 (UTC)

Regularly? No, I don't think so. But I need to take a shot of Freezing Mist (which is in the beginning of the game) too, so I'm going to try something with the Dark Sword. And you're welcome, are there any more stuff this wiki needs from the iOS remake? :3 I'd be willing to do some more work. s̅̅s̅̅o̅̅r̅̅c̅̅̅̅e̅̅n̅̅i̅̅v̅̅i̅̅d̅̅ 13:36, May 24, 2013 (UTC)
You've uploaded a lot of images, but I'm not too sure if there could be more the wiki needs beside the Dark element and the missing status icons. So what I'm about to write, I have no idea if the following was covered or not. Did you uploaded any NPC characters (Cid's Daughter, Sheila, Anna, etc) - basically any images of the characters that have their own articles on the wiki, you might want to look through all these FFIV character articles on the navigation template. The different types of chocobos. Did you get pictures of the airships, how about the hovercraft? Also, something that I recently worked on, the Eidolon Search Sidequest is missing two images. Item Magic under the list of FFIV spells: Magic Arrow, Poisona, Heal, Basuna, and Dancing Dagger. Also, all White Magic, Black Magic, Ninjutsu, Summon, Twincast, and Sing abilities images, images of all Augments in action, character's abilities, etc. I think that's it, but it would be better for you to look at all articles inside the FFIV navigation template and see for yourself. I wouldn't be surprise if you would had already covered some, if not all of this already. Again, the wiki appreciate your contribution. Great work, and thank you once again. Fenrir9 (talk) 15:30, May 24, 2013 (UTC)
Hey there Fenrir. I've got a shot of the Darkness icon, but it has "Weakness" written next to it, is that okay? Oh yea, reminds me, I have a lot more work to do. I've started on most, but I still have a lot to do. I have shots of the airships and the hovercraft. I've started on Black Magick, finished Ninjutsu, Bardsong's just missing one image, and Twincast, I think, is done. Enemy abilities are about 1/4th done, Character Abilities zero. Augments in action, hmm, not all of them have a respective image but I'll get all of them. Locations section are nearly finished. After the end of this month, I won't be able to hang around in this wiki that much anymore, but I promise to get them all done, if not, then most. No problem, it's my pleasure. (The 69.99 dirhams I payed for this game MUST pay off...) s̅̅s̅̅o̅̅r̅̅c̅̅̅̅e̅̅n̅̅i̅̅v̅̅i̅̅d̅̅ 07:37, May 25, 2013 (UTC)
Fenrir, I saw the DS elements page you made...shouldn't it be "iOS"? I mean, the DS icons are really different. s̅̅s̅̅o̅̅r̅̅c̅̅̅̅e̅̅n̅̅i̅̅v̅̅i̅̅d̅̅ 14:04, May 25, 2013 (UTC)
The page would be better named "List of Final Fantasy IV 3D Elements". The page name needs to encompass both. 14:08, May 25, 2013 (UTC)
I so agree with you. s̅̅s̅̅o̅̅r̅̅c̅̅̅̅e̅̅n̅̅i̅̅v̅̅i̅̅d̅̅ 12:55, May 26, 2013 (UTC)

Icons...[edit source]

Nothing's missing for the FFIV iOS status icons now except.....Bravery, Faith, Doom, Magnetize, Petrify, and Curse. They're gonna take awhile for me to get, to be honest. And shouldn't we keep the DS ones? The iOS ones are all I see in the DS status page now. s̅̅s̅̅o̅̅r̅̅c̅̅̅̅e̅̅n̅̅i̅̅v̅̅i̅̅d̅̅ 09:38, May 28, 2013 (UTC)

They are found within the collapsing gallery at the bottom of the page. Great, thanks you very much. Did you manage to get the Dark elemental icon by any chance? Fenrir9 (talk) 19:07, May 28, 2013 (UTC)
Yes I did. It has "weakness" written on next to it though. It's still on my files...I'm sure it is. I'll upload it soon. s̅̅s̅̅o̅̅r̅̅c̅̅̅̅e̅̅n̅̅i̅̅v̅̅i̅̅d̅̅ 03:45, May 29, 2013 (UTC)

MQ Elements[edit source]

I'm reworking the Enemy Template, looking at List of Final Fantasy Mystic Quest Elements, it says Damage and Drain are unused, so it'd be the nine (I'm gonna add Cure, forgot it) elements I have that count as enemy resistances, right? Drake Clawfang (talk) 03:26, June 8, 2013 (UTC)

Yes, everything is in perfect order. Add: the only thing would be Confuse -> Confusion & Paralysis -> Paralyze. Fenrir9 (talk) 04:33, June 8, 2013 (UTC)
Right. Drake Clawfang (talk) 04:35, June 8, 2013 (UTC)

No debuff in Final Fantasy 3?[edit source]

What's the problem with debuff? There are several items that do debuff the enemies, but you want to merge them with the support items. Enemies are not supported by soemthing that cripples them. I mean: "debuff" is something that limits the enemy, like sleep, mute and so on. Maybe you use a different definition.

Moreover, "Miscellaneous items" sounds like "I didn't know how to classify these". They are "Field items", that can only be used outside battle, i.e. on the field. --Abacos (talk) 15:46, June 10, 2013 (UTC)

The question you should ask yourself is this, does Square-Enix calls it debuff in the game or in the game manual. If they don't call it that, the wiki shouldn't be classifying the game's items with a term used in another game. Second of all, its pointless to break down a list that doesn't even have that many items in the first place. Miscellaneous means it doesn't fit in all other available categories, or doesn't have enough items to create its own category or all those items have various effects. "Enemies are not supported by soemthing that cripples them". Items are not meant to support enemies, they are meant to support the party by inflicting negative status ailments/effects on enemies which help support the party. Fenrir9 (talk) 16:12, June 10, 2013 (UTC)

Debuff is a term widely used in the gaming community. Actually, there is a page called Debuff in this wiki. An item that does not support its target is not a support item, I think. I absolutely agree that a debuff item indirectly supports the party by doing the opposite to the targets, but I think that such inclusion has some logical faults: for example, a player can usually choose to use a support item on the enemies or a debuff item on his characters (maybe to make the game either harder or faster: I like to put my characters on berserk in easy dungeons). I learned from experience that English versions of Japanese manuals cannot be trusted too much. On the other hand, I see that somehow we agree that "Miscellaneous" is a very generic term. :-) There is a common trait of items in the "Miscellaneous" category, and logic says that positive definitions are to be preferred to negative ones. --Abacos (talk) 17:28, June 10, 2013 (UTC)

The term I found in Japanese calls them all {状態異常 - lit. Abnormal state} which includes negative and positive status effects, well if you think about it, it actually makes sense. Because your character is normal when he/she's not affect by any statuses. Once hit, that target is no longer normal and becomes abnormal, regardless of being beneficial or not to that character.
Unfortunately, we are not the gaming community because this wiki only covers the FF games and does not cover Street Fighter, Halo, Persona, Mario Brothers, any other RPGs non-related to FF, or any other big or small name games that was ever made. So in short, the wiki is pretty much a FF community first and foremost. I mean, if I wanted some info about a Mario game. Well, I wouldn't come here to look for it now would I. That page exist because FFXIII and the MMORPG uses the term(s) within their respected games. If FFXIII and the two MMORPG didn't have those terms, that page wouldn't exist. I've know about those terms since FFXI was around in its early existence, and those terms also circulated around on other MMORPG-type games. I would also like to mention that not everybody is a hardcore gamer and knows those terms, so the wiki should not use terms that do not appear within the context of those game(s). If a game classifies their abilities as Buff and Debuff, them we should classify them as such. If they don't, we should use terms that the game uses and if they do not have any specific terms. Use generic terms that everybody understands. One example that comes to mind, I can't called and classify FFVI white dotted spells as white magic because the game calls it Healing (magic) and the wiki should list it as such which it does.
"I learned from experience that English versions of Japanese manuals cannot be trusted too much." Sorry, I had to single out this phrase because it makes me confused. But if you can't thrust the English manual, does that mean you don't thrust the English game? Or is this simply about the whole English localization thing? Anyways, this wiki is dedicated to the English release of FFs. So, one has to expect its geared more towards its localization than the Japanese version. We do have stuff from the Japanese side in some articles found across the wiki. Fenrir9 (talk) 18:44, June 10, 2013 (UTC)

I think we're converging towards a good agreement :-) So, can we put "support" and "debuff" items in one section called "Status items" or similar? Ok to stick to Final Fantasy terms, if it's the rule in this Wikia, but my philosophy is more towards an analytical approach rather than just "copy and paste"; maybe my place is not here then; sorry :-) Can we say that the set of Final Fantasy Wikia contributors is a small "community" within the larger "community" of gamers, or does community means something completely different?

About my unfortunate sentence ("I learned from experience that English versions of Japanese manuals cannot be trusted too much"): that originates from the fact that in the past (ten or more years ago) I found many manuals to be inaccurate or in contradiction with the contents of their video games, not to mention some horrible spoilers. Since then, I stopped completely using manuals, and more or less at the same time video games started including tutorials. But maybe manuals changed since then, I don't know, I don't read them because I still prefer to trust the game alone :-P --Abacos (talk) 19:15, June 10, 2013 (UTC)

PS: Would you like a funny anecdote? The first RPVG I ever played was Ultima 6. The localized (European) manual said that to advance by one level you should bring your experience down to 0. I did it, by behaving like a pacifist and considering death and resurrection a "greater experience", and the game crashed. I restarted twice, and twice more it crashed, so I gave up. I only finished the game when I got the SNES version, years later :-D How would you trust a manual after that? :-D --Abacos (talk) 19:15, June 10, 2013 (UTC)

The gaming community as you put it is the group of players that is compose of fighting players, puzzle players, racing players, rpg players, platform players, etc. That's what I meant, sorry if this wasn't better written. As much as I enjoyed talking with you, I'm planing on cutting my time on the wiki due to the need to focus on other things. I have to set a schedule up and complete what I originally started out to do (revamping all FFVI enemies pages), and restructuring the FFVI enemy ability list which will be time consuming and I want to do it in short periods of time (at least 20-25 enemy articles per day). But need to finish my sandbox thingy first too before I get started. So please don't take this personally that I'm trying to make you go away since that isn't the case here, but I hate leaving things half way done and I will be happy when all of this will be over (current wiki project). Also, what's being talk about here pretty much affects the entire wiki, and well this isn't my wiki and its ours or rather the FF player's wiki. So I'll post a topic to the forums and ask for feedback and state my opinions on the matter and hope you state yours and hear other wikia's voices on the subject. Something along the lines of Buff/Debuff within the topics title. Fenrir9 (talk) 00:22, June 11, 2013 (UTC)

Gallery Template[edit source]

Hello there, Fenrir9. My name is BlueSpeeder, a local rollback and chat moderator on Sonic News Network. I'm here to ask you about the gallery template. Recently, our wiki has made a forum about putting trivia before gallery, but other users have liked the idea of hiding the gallery via a hide button. Myself123 has said that this wiki has a Gallery template to hide the images of the gallery. If we could, do you mind if we could use that very template on Sonic News Network? If you are an administrator, please take a look at this message. If not, just let me know and I'll contact an admin. Thank you so much. BlueSpeeder (talk) 15:54, June 15, 2013 (UTC)

I'm not an administrator, but TacticAngel is the active administrator for this wiki. Fenrir9 (talk) 16:18, June 15, 2013 (UTC)

Thank you[edit source]

Just wanted to say, I think I used a walkthrough of yours years ago. Thank you, I remember yours being the most detailed. lmao 20:36, June 30, 2013 (UTC)

Element Icon Gallery updated to iOS[edit source]

List_of_Final_Fantasy_IV_DS_Elements#Gallery Updated to the iOS icons. Leaving it up to you guys for the transparency. s̅̅s̅̅o̅̅r̅̅c̅̅̅̅e̅̅n̅̅i̅̅v̅̅i̅̅d̅̅ 14:52, July 3, 2013 (UTC)

The wiki still keeps the old DS icons, not replace them. So, I'll revert shortly. We already have the elemental icons, uploaded by you. The only thing in terms of icons that the wiki is missing from the iOS is Magnetize, Bravery, and Faith if I recall correctly. Fenrir9 (talk) 16:09, July 3, 2013 (UTC)
What's the whole point of keeping the DS icons? The iOS icons are the same from the DS ones - the graphics are just clearer and bigger. Nothing was changed, if you haven't seen that already. s̅̅s̅̅o̅̅r̅̅c̅̅̅̅e̅̅n̅̅i̅̅v̅̅i̅̅d̅̅ 16:53, July 3, 2013 (UTC)
The wiki keeps one version of each images, or in this case, sprites. Like the weapon sprites, character sprites, etc. Also, its nice to see the progression of graphics between versions of the same game, no? Fenrir9 (talk) 17:27, July 3, 2013 (UTC)
The DS enemy images were deleted and replaced by the iOS ones. What about that? Also, most location images used in the articles are the iOS ones now, and most of the DS ones are unused. As for character portraits, I don't think we need to keep the DS version. I'm not finished with them yet though. I don't really see any point in keeping the DS versions - the iOS version is just an improved version of the DS ones. The DS ones are crappier and blurrier shots of the iOS ones. There's no really huge graphic difference, talking about the icons. Apart from seeing the graphic progressions, what is the whole point? s̅̅s̅̅o̅̅r̅̅c̅̅̅̅e̅̅n̅̅i̅̅v̅̅i̅̅d̅̅ 17:39, July 3, 2013 (UTC)

The DS screenshots/monsters were pure crap to begin with, no... saying that IS an insult to crappy quality images everywhere else. They were beyond crap. Screenshots ≠ sprites, sprites are handle differently as I've been told. There's not much graphical difference between the DS "outside field" (within towns, overworld) with the iOS "outside field", the only difference is that the iOS is more clearer and detailed. The same goes for enemies. So yeah, they were replaced. The icons, I don't remember the weapons/armor since nobody uploaded them to the wiki, but the elemental icons are clearly visually different from DS to iOS to merit being in the gallery and such differences should be shown, that is one of many reasons we have galleries in the first place. To show these differences visually. That is the whole point. Fenrir9 (talk) 18:20, July 3, 2013 (UTC)

The iOS element icons are clearer, yea. Yes, the monsters looked worse than vomit, in my opinion. Well, yes, the others were more detailed and don't forget LARGER and CLEARER as for EVERYTHING else. Dude, are you sure the DS and iOS element icons are different? They do look different at first sight, but if you look closely, they aren't. The DS ones were really small so when the icons were made, it was really blurry, but really, look closely. What would be the reason the DS and iOS versions would use different element icons? And yea, I didn't bother with the armor and weapons because it was too much work over little difference. s̅̅s̅̅o̅̅r̅̅c̅̅̅̅e̅̅n̅̅i̅̅v̅̅i̅̅d̅̅ 20:26, July 3, 2013 (UTC)

If the icons on the List of Final Fantasy IV 3D Elements page are indeed what we're talking about, the iOS floated right across the article and the DS in the gallery THEN both sets of images need to be kept. They are different. JBed (talk) 21:34, July 3, 2013 (UTC)

All right. But would the wiki need the iOS icons without the word "Element" written next to it, just like how the DS ones are in the gallery? s̅̅s̅̅o̅̅r̅̅c̅̅̅̅e̅̅n̅̅i̅̅v̅̅i̅̅d̅̅ 07:28, July 4, 2013 (UTC)
It's pretty pointless to reupload all the icons because all of them that are already uploaded are in much need of being crop, background nullified with no words, and transparency place on the image. It should only feature the icon. Fenrir9 (talk) 14:17, July 5, 2013 (UTC)
I have the iOS ones cropped. All you guys need to do is the transparency. Acually, I need these iOS icons. s̅̅s̅̅o̅̅r̅̅c̅̅̅̅e̅̅n̅̅i̅̅v̅̅i̅̅d̅̅ 15:02, July 5, 2013 (UTC)
Well, if you want to replace them, go ahead. Fenrir9 (talk) 15:04, July 5, 2013 (UTC)
I'll replace them if you guys are willing to do the transparency. Please? s̅̅s̅̅o̅̅r̅̅c̅̅̅̅e̅̅n̅̅i̅̅v̅̅i̅̅d̅̅ 16:38, July 5, 2013 (UTC)

Emulator[edit source]

Do you know much about NES emulators? Drake Clawfang (talk) 18:09, July 7, 2013 (UTC)

You mean finding one that works? Fenrir9 (talk) 18:23, July 7, 2013 (UTC)
I mean in general. I wanna grab FF1 NES weapon images but the only site I can find hosting them has no borders on them, so I'm thinking an emulator where you can turn off the background would work. Drake Clawfang (talk) 02:28, July 9, 2013 (UTC)
NES weaponry do not have any borders like those of the SNES era, I can only vouch for FFIII. The black background is the default color, so there was no need for black borders in those early games due to the background already being black. In a matter of speaking, the background is already turned off. Fenrir9 (talk) 10:10, July 9, 2013 (UTC)

Damn...Well, I suppose the most proper way to display them is upload them with no borders. Thanks. Drake Clawfang (talk) 02:04, July 10, 2013 (UTC)

I'll check/re-check both FFI and FFII this weekend since I have more time, but I'm pretty sure that they are like FFIII which I've personally check and uploaded the image as is within the graphical data of the game. There's no two shades of black as the palette of weapons were limited during those days, black is used as the background or as transparency, etc. While on the subject, I've notice that FFII NES have black borders and its license/copyright is to Square-Enix, but since somebody drew the black borders in, shouldn't the license reflect that the image was modified from the original? Fenrir9 (talk) 10:12, July 10, 2013 (UTC)
The FF2 NES weapon sprites were taken from spriter's resource, at the time I didn't know about the background stuff. If you have border-less sprites or want to edit our current ones, then go ahead and upload new versions. Drake Clawfang (talk) 20:05, July 11, 2013 (UTC)

I think I'll pass because I've been itching to replay FFA, I need my Seiken Densetsu fix lol, so why not FFA and at the same time help the wiki. Last time I played it was around 2004 (give or take). Since some articles on the wiki are lacking in context, images, etc. I'll kill two birds with one stone. The game is not that long, but taking screenshots, writing paragraphs, creating pages, etc, will take some time. Fenrir9 (talk) 10:28, July 12, 2013 (UTC)

Modship[edit source]

Hi! I don't think anyone has actually mentioned to you, but your name has come up as a nomination for moderator. The forum is here if you'd like to take a look, and give your thoughts on whether this is something you would want to be a part of. Tia-LewiseRydia - Young battle.png 20:16, July 9, 2013 (UTC)

The latest I can read through that, if its really long, would be this coming weekend (either Friday evening or Saturday morning) since I'll have some free time. The earliest if I have time tonight would be in approximately 8-10 hours from now. If I don't have time tonight, I'll try again tomorrow night, etc. Can't do much more than this sadly... but I'll try for tonight since its important, not making any promises. Fenrir9 (talk) 10:24, July 10, 2013 (UTC)
I'm almost finish with the comments, so later tonight I'll wrap things up and post on the entries that I have left on that page. Fenrir9 (talk) 10:15, July 11, 2013 (UTC)

Icons[edit source]

Congrats on your nomination~ by the way, the iOS element icons are now on the FFIV iOS Icon Category Page...leaving the transparency up to you guys. s̅̅s̅̅o̅̅r̅̅c̅̅̅̅e̅̅n̅̅i̅̅v̅̅i̅̅d̅̅ 18:02, July 13, 2013 (UTC)

Thanks, someone will get to that transparency eventually. The wiki is still missing Faith, Bravery, and Magnetize. Fenrir9 (talk) 10:00, July 15, 2013 (UTC)
I will definitely get those missing ones. I'm now on my third playthrough, so I can give Edge a Twincast and cast those two spells at will soon. s̅̅s̅̅o̅̅r̅̅c̅̅̅̅e̅̅n̅̅i̅̅v̅̅i̅̅d̅̅ 12:10, July 15, 2013 (UTC)

Congrats on Promotion[edit source]

Here's a ham, your FFWiki bumper sticker, and a "I Threw Away So Much Of My Life On the FFWiki They Made Me Staff And All I Got Was This Lousy T-shirt, Ham and Bumper Sticker" T-shirt. You can also head to the Staff listing to pick out a portrait for yourself :) Drake Clawfang (talk) 00:57, July 19, 2013 (UTC)

Also, you can get your userpages semi-protected on request. -- Some Color Mage ~ (Talk) 01:18, July 19, 2013 (UTC)
Lol at Drake's remark, thanks you guys. I'll do my best! I guess I'll take on the offer of protecting my userpages. For portrait, I'll take Terra. Fenrir9 (talk) 01:48, July 19, 2013 (UTC)

Congrats. You deserve it. C A T U S E 01:50, July 19, 2013 (UTC)

Well, this is great, both of you want Terra. Uh, first to edit the staff page wins? -- Some Color Mage ~ (Talk) 01:52, July 19, 2013 (UTC)

Meh, I'll take Cecil since FFII/FFVI was my first Final Fantasy... unless we can take portraits that are not from Dissidia? Thanks Catuse, and congratulation to you too for becoming an admin. Also congrats are also in order to both Drake and Some Color Mage. Fenrir9 (talk) 02:16, July 19, 2013 (UTC)
We try to keep all the users in one group with the same style, which is currently IV Complete Collection for the admins and D012 for the mods. Although as we're running low on IV/TAY characters people actually want for the admin slots, we'll probably have to change things up a bit soon. -- Some Color Mage ~ (Talk) 02:19, July 19, 2013 (UTC)

Congratulations Fenrir! Sorry for stealing Terra, though if I'd have realised Cecil was available I'd have gladly taken him instead! Tia-LewiseRydia - Young battle.png 15:16, July 19, 2013 (UTC)

Hey Fen Congrats on whatever's happened to you ^_^ I also wanted to ask, is there anything wrong with Tower of Zot's 1F map? I filled out every single nook and cranny, but it's still 99%. I compared my map
Tower of Zot 1F Map ffiv ios.PNG
to the DS map this wiki has, and there seems to be no difference. Have any idea what's going on? s̅̅s̅̅o̅̅r̅̅c̅̅̅̅e̅̅n̅̅i̅̅v̅̅i̅̅d̅̅ 17:00, July 19, 2013 (UTC)

@Tia: Well if you want to swap portraits, I'm okay with that. If you don't want to swap, I'm okay with that too. I'll leave it up to you. Whatever you want to do is fine with me. Now, I should get back and wrap things up with FFA.

@SsorceniviD: Did you tries behind the treasure chest? That's usually where I miss the last few percent. Not only in this game, but in other games where they feature a map and the last 1% is usually around the chest or the exit/entrance of the area. Fenrir9 (talk) 19:28, July 19, 2013 (UTC)

Yea Fen. It wasn't even a milimeter...damn. Thanks, dude. s̅̅s̅̅o̅̅r̅̅c̅̅̅̅e̅̅n̅̅i̅̅v̅̅i̅̅d̅̅ 15:56, July 20, 2013 (UTC)

FF6 Weapon Art[edit source]

Where did you find those? Drake Clawfang (talk) 21:43, August 4, 2013 (UTC)

I found these a while back, and they were sitting on my hard drive. The website, I forgot the address. All I do remember was in English and it had a black background and written in white or grey font. Mostly talking about FFVI hacking stuff, well the page/website is dedicated to FFVI hacking information. I also have the armor, helmets, items, relics, and shields artwork. Sadly for the weapons, they are all bundle up like that, none of them are separated like those other artwork on the wiki. But remaining artworks (armor, helmets, items, relics, and shields), the majority of them are separated enough to upload in single images. Only a few artworks overlap one another. There are 14 pages total, so lots of cutting and cropping will be needed to be done. Plus to find what is what since these pages are in Japanese. Fenrir9 (talk) 10:13, August 5, 2013 (UTC)

Tagging[edit source]

Past discussion over tagging weapons that have the same name for an individual weapon and weapon 'family' led to the conclusion that weapon 'families' are to be tagged with "(Weapon Type)". Also, please archive your talk page as it's awfully long. Thank you.—Kaimi (999,999 CP/5 TP) ∙ 20:11, August 20, 2013 (UTC)

Yeah, its getting pretty long. It'll do it right away. Fenrir9 (talk) 14:20, August 22, 2013 (UTC)
