Redirects[edit source]

May I ask, what are the reasons you prefer redirects to stubs? VvAnarchangelvV 22:00, July 25, 2010 (UTC)

I don't, why would you think that? Doreiku Kuroofangu 22:00, July 25, 2010 (UTC)
You know what I mean. Answer the question. VvAnarchangelvV 22:03, July 25, 2010 (UTC)
No I don't know what you mean, so you can drop the attitude act. Doreiku Kuroofangu 22:05, July 25, 2010 (UTC)
You redirected 32 stubs in two hours, and you have no idea what I mean. An act is just exactly what I was trying to penetrate, not perpetrate. VvAnarchangelvV 22:10, July 25, 2010 (UTC)
Ah, the CC pages. They were redirected because none of them had or could have enough content to justify having their own pages. There's a difference between a page being a stub because it needs expansion, and being a stub because there's no such expansion to be had. Doreiku Kuroofangu 22:15, July 25, 2010 (UTC)
I'd just like to add, it's not turning stubs into redirects, it's directing the user to an article where the information is better covered. Grouping likewise abilities means users don't have to navigate a numerous amount of articles to get the same amount of information they can when it's grouped. If things are better covered in their own articles, then they will be in their own article. An article only detailing information that should be on the parent anyway isn't worthy of an article, but of a redirect. Same information, less articles. 88.108.113.109 22:22, July 25, 2010 (UTC)
Ah, yes, those.

And so you intend to expand the information on the target pages to include the information on the stubs? Because not one of the target pages I have seen has more information about the subject than the title of the redirect pages. The targets are lists, and so the redirected user must search the lists to find the title, and no information on the subject. The original pages were very good descriptions of their subjects, complete and concise. And the purpose of an encyclopedia is first and foremost to provide the most complete information, while layout concerns are secondary.

Or is this information to simply disappear? You have left a hole where there was information, as it stands. It is also possible that your ideal of all pages being complete is simply not practical.

88, you are substantially in error about the pages. They uniformly have less information on the subject, and in some cases no information at all.
VvAnarchangelvV 22:30, July 25, 2010 (UTC)

Once again you seem to hold me to some sort of completion-ist image which is not who I am. If you have the energy to complain this much about this then you have the energy to prove me wrong. If you can do better than make a sandbox on how you would structure the pages and see what people think. Otherwise you're just wasting my time complaining about a trivial subject. Doreiku Kuroofangu 22:37, July 25, 2010 (UTC)
That's just silly. I could just as easily undo all the changes and force you to do it right. Your changes have not improved the wikia; undoing your changes would. I have exposed your bad editing practice and now you attempt to prevail on me to fix it for you? It is you who needs a sandbox, and an attitude adjustment to boot. VvAnarchangelvV 22:42, July 25, 2010 (UTC)
(NOTE:Edit Conflict) Sorry sir, everything I said is correct in theory.
Drake, you don't have to be a completionist to merge articles. The information is already on wiki, you're just moving it, and removing redundancies. Lists of names are awful. We should write in paragraphs. If these articles do have less information then we had before, then you should probably rethink what you're doing. Again, I haven't read the articles, I just know, in theory, the articles Drake merged/redirected to should have all the information.
I'm a completionist to the best of my ability, so I just expect other users to know not to lose information when changing article-map structures. 88.108.113.109 22:48, July 25, 2010 (UTC)
While the vast majority of contributions by this user are constructive ones, these are not, and it is not the first time that it has happened either, see this edit to Vanish that has no corresponding text on Invisible and the removal for a second time, unless I am mistaken, of Twister (ability). At this point it is up to the user or a higher authority. I may or may not devote some time to fixing this but I will not initiate an edit war by undoing the changes.

Jecht[edit source]

What part of "Alussion" you don't get? I am not saying that the sword is the one Jecht used. I'm saying that it makes an alussion to Jecht using one. He gives a sword as a gift to his son because he knows it'll come in handy: he has experienced it himself.

And if you want it to be an editing war it'll be. I have so little to do right now that this will be a good way to spend time.
Then I insist: do you think Jecht bought it as a souvenir? Because otherwise I can't find any other reason to buy a weapon other than using it. At least in Spira, a place that is full of monsters, and you know, Jecht being a guardian. Otherwise you are telling me that Jecht went through Spira kicking blitzball balls at his enemies, like Wakka. Or maybe he fought with magic dolls like Lulu. No, no, better than that: he was a black mage!
Well tell me, where it is said that he uses a sword? I see him using a sword in Dissidia, but before Dissidia I only imagined Jecht using a sword because I thought the sword Auron gave to Tidus was the one Jecht used to carry in battle. It's not that that is unusual in fantasy settings like Final Fantasy.

Or maybe he fought with his fists. Just sayin'. Also.... "Gift". He may (just may) have bought the sword as, I don't know, a GIFT to his son, knowing that Auron would bring him to Spira, to defend himself. Maybe. It's not like Auron says that's the case. Oh wait, he does. Another example: my sisters bought me a PSP. They didn't use it, and never have. KujaRhapsodos 17:21, July 26, 2010 (UTC)

Ok, so please tell me if I'm getting this right, Kuja. You're saying Jecht carried a sword all the way to Zanarkand just because he wanted to give it to his son ten years later, isn't it? Or maybe he bought it when he was Sin? There's also the possibility that Jecht was attacked by a crusader (after becoming Sin) and after pwning him Jecht thought "hey, what a cool blade he was using, I think my son may like it".
Towards the end of Braska's pilgrimage, when Jecht knows he'll become the Final Aeon, he asked Auron to go take care of Tidus. So, actually, Auron may have been the one to buy the sword (in fact, it was probably him). There's just no indication whatsoever to the time of the purchase. Thus, no conclusion can be reached. KujaRhapsodos 17:30, July 26, 2010 (UTC)

Then explain[edit source]

As I keep saying it is an ALUSSION, NOT A DAMNED PROOF. You say "we know he did use a sword". HOW? I imagine he uses a sword, that's why I call it alussion. What you're saying is "the fact that Auron gave Tidus a sword saying it was a gift from his father cannot be related at all to his father using that kind of weapon".

Is it that? If not then please, EXPLAIN, don't just go "it doesn't mean that" and not explain the meaning so I know it.

Ok, whatever[edit source]

You know, it's pointless. Using the same logic I could say that the summon getting a weapon doesn't mean the faith had one, as we know not enough about it. But it's ok, if you people like it that way I'll leave it as it is. After all getting into an argument about a videogame character won't make me get anything at all other than a bad mood.

No love for a Vandal-turned-good?[edit source]

What's wrong, little boy? Must you remove a useful edit by a former Vandal? Or is your Vandal-hate so pure you are unwilling to even give one a chance? Poor little boy... it must be so lonely for you in your world of childish thoughts. ~ End Game 03:38, July 31, 2010 (UTC)

How typical of the little boy...[edit source]

How typical of you, little boy. Instead of addressing something that you disagree with or don't like, you simply shove it off to your "trash pile" archive, in hopes that people will never see it.

Why not respond, instead of sitting around like a stringless puppet? Or are you too afraid to admit that you are blinded by your Vandal-hate? Are you too scared to admit that maybe, just maybe, a Vandal could turn over a new leaf? Are you so afraid that the Big Bad of FFWiki might be coming around that you have to treat her the same as ever, hoping against hope that you might still have some relevance beyond making simple edits that anybody could do?

Come along, little boy, and respond to your fears! It's the only way you'll ever get over them. ~ End Game 04:05, July 31, 2010 (UTC)

What are you talking about? Doreiku Kuroofangu 00:53, August 22, 2010 (UTC)

When i commented on sephiroth being barechested in the very last battle (The "unlosable" one), you said hes also barechested as Safer Sephiroth, and in the fmv where he calls the meteor.

Oh yeah, that. Well, I'm right, he's barechested both times. So? Doreiku Kuroofangu 20:58, August 24, 2010 (UTC)

I cant believe you unless you give me prrof. please give me a link to the fmv of him calling the meteor.

Shards of Memory[edit source]

So, I just read chapter one, and I must say that it is awesome. I've never played Dissidia, but that feels like it was actually a part of the game. I started on chapter two, but haven't finished it yet. Your story is really good, and makes me wish that mine was just as good as yours. So, for making such an awesome story, and gaining like 2,000 edits in what seems like 1 day (seriously, you has 26,000 edits last I checked, which was about two days ago), I bestoe upon you my insignificant Chocobo Award.

The A.J. two Chocobo Award!

In the opinion of A.J. two, Drake Clawfang is awesome, and has done something that that merits their recieving this award, whether it be something important to the wiki - or himself -, or just being a friend. In his eyes, this user deserve this award. So, anyways, Congratulations!

Just copy that onto your user page and you'll be all set. A.J. two (Smashboards) 02:37, July 9, 2010 (UTC)

Something Interesting[edit source]

Hey Drake, I just found something very interesting on some other wikis.

Well, to begin with, I was reading a blog post on the Assassin's Creed Wiki, and this user was asking why the AC Wiki didn't have 'points and achievements like the Red Dead and Dead Rising Wikis'. So, I looked them up because I had no clue what he was talking about, and I found this on the Red Dead Wiki (though I went to the Dead Rising Wiki first). Instead of having your edit count in the upper right of the screen on the userpages, it has like a point system (like achievement scores on an Xbox 360, or point on a PS3). And with it comes a whole slew of trophy things that bring up your point score.

I thought that it is a really cool thing, and I thought about how it could be put to use on here. I know it probably won't ever, but I wanted to show it to you because it is really interesting. (BTW, once you go to the wiki, you'll automatically get 10 "points" for being there while logged in; just warning you if you don't want anything to do with it). AJtwosig.gif 23:03, July 18, 2010 (UTC)

Eh, I doubt this would be a good idea. Though not universal, most of the really active users here don't care about awards like this, and the users who would care are the ones who probably prefer to socialize and the like than edit. Would maybe be motivation for them, but...yeah. Doreiku Kuroofangu 00:50, July 20, 2010 (UTC)
I know. I asked 8bit because you hadn't said anything yet, and he said pretty much the same thing. I knew that nothing would happen, but I saw it and just wanted to show you and get your opinion on it. AJtwosig.gif 14:05, July 20, 2010 (UTC)

Sandbox[edit source]

I noticed you transcluded your sandbox into Forum:Enemy Character Box. Just sayin', since it makes no sense anymore. Also, since Template:FFXII multi Enemies replaces the current template which you have included in your sandbox, and I'm about to VFD it. which will then just give a broken link. 88.108.90.162 21:10, July 20, 2010 (UTC)

That may be. I think my real problem is I always, I repeat, ALWAYS piss my money away on Potions. --If I had a hairbrush, that would be amazing! Pregnancy? 11:05, July 24, 2010 (UTC)

Do we make peace?[edit source]

Ok, I'm sorry if I got you angered before. I only wanted to know why my edit wasn't valid, and I thought you weren't giving me an adequate answer. Truth is, I don't like getting into arguments, so now that it's all over I want to settle that.

By the way, I wrote "shupaf" instead of "shoopuf" because I'm used to the spanish version, in which the subtitles say "shupaf". They also say "Jecht attacked the shupaf" and say nothing about his sword, that's why I knew nothing about that reference until you sent me the video. The Grim Heaper 19:20, July 26, 2010 (UTC)

A couple edits[edit source]

Hey this is Quex from TLS, I made a couple edits to the Wiki today basically saying we don't know if Maiden is canon or not. Uhm... maybe this was bad or I should have asked you first. Sorry if I did something wrong, you can of course, revert the edits. I was under the impression that we didn't know if it was canon or not. If that's wrong, I apologize but I wanted to let you know so I didn't get banned or seen as a vandal or something. --69.176.245.142 21:06, July 29, 2010 (UTC)

Umm, there's a problem here in this page, the sidebar ascends higher than the usual and part of the logo is covered. Can you fix it? Umm, and my wiki also needs a hack of contributors and advertising is a problem, I'm just wondering if you can ask editors here in this wiki if they know the anime/manga series Fushigi Yugi / Curious Play/Mysterious Play. Sup Drake?[edit source]

I got your message...okay...how would I get Bluehighwind's permission given he doesnt affiliate himself with Final Fantasy Wiki anymore? Not that it matters...I wouldn't have touched it if I knew about the editing permission requirement but I made those edits only to figure out for myself how to create wikis of my own without going to help pages since my pc is a slow POS and a lot of those pages take forever to load and I really dont have the patience to wait for that but thanks for the heads up (a little late) and I will be joining your ranks soon...if I get a better cpu this will be easier. Oh and yeah...tell Bluehighwind that his personality is his own and he shouldnt feel guilty about something he really cant change unless if he were to be brainwashed...like my bisexual friend Janette69 says...'You cant change who ya are'. Anyway...once again thanks for the heads up and I hope we get to talk to eachother in the future.

Opening Stances.[edit source]

Ok, I'll leave the Victory Stances part out of the Character pages. But can at least add in the Opening Stances to the characters pages? I mean, they have to go somewhere, and unless I'm mistaken, they aren't on any other part of this wiki. Weedle McHairybug 03:25, September 6, 2010 (UTC)

You really aren't getting this....the opening poses don't matter. It doesn't matter if people who read the article want to know because details like that are irrelevant, they're insignificant, noting the character's opening stance does nothing to improve the article quality. If you're gonna add that you may as well as descriptions of the animation for everything in the series. Doreiku Kuroofangu 03:35, September 6, 2010 (UTC)

Is it possible to change account names?[edit source]

Not for me, but the new signature policy seems to be making waves. I was just looking into my preferences and it looks like everyone has both a user ID and an account name, but any decent database would only need the ID for a key. Instead of telling people to forsake all the credit for their contributions and make new accounts, wouldn't a kinder solution be to let people get an occasional name change? Not anytime they want, but maybe once if they just feel they have the wrong account name and then maybe a second time in a year or so, if it's possible. I really don't see why it wouldn't be, but then I'm not familiar with Wikia's coding. Bluestarultor Best-of Stellar Arena sigicon.png BSA 00:12, September 29, 2010 (UTC)

I'm not sure if it's possible or not. You'd have to speak to Wikia themselves I think. Doreiku Kuroofangu 00:13, September 29, 2010 (UTC)
Ah. If users would have to go up to that level, it might be possible, but just not practical. By the way, your signature needs an underscore for the talk link, not a space. It should be "User_talk." ;) Thanks for the fast answer. Bluestarultor Best-of Stellar Arena sigicon.png BSA 00:18, September 29, 2010 (UTC)

Why You Hate Me So Much?[edit source]

You're Hopless Then[edit source]

"I'm not gonna hate you forever - just until you die" Very mature, I try to be reasonable and try to make peace for what I done. But you're nothing but a spoil child that not wroth talking to, hate me until I die over cheating in MMII is the most stupid thing I ever heard, not like I kill your dog or murder your family that is something for hate me. I don't know why Yuan and Fae think you don't hate me. But that it, you going to spoil child and cry over cheating then you're not wroth taking to. Now stay out my way until you grow up, I don't want to deal with you anymore. If anyone here has rage is you, less I can forgive people unlike you. NeoZEROX 23:22, October 27, 2010 (UTC)

RE:Use their proper names[edit source]

That is entirely different JBed and you know it

You mean about calling her Sarah? I doubt it, but that's the only thing that is entirely different in what I mentioned. Yes, I am aware the Sarah thing is irrelevant, and not really a strong argument. It's more just for lulz.

Anyway, I'm going to try to make this clear. There is a very clear seperation between story and gameplay. I'll explain it by giving a situation. In a boss battle, Garnet alone faces a Bomb. Here's a story sentence:

Garnet used an ice spell on the Bomb.

Ignore the fact that she can't use Black Magic, this sentence would go in her story section on her page. Now here's gameplay sentence:

Dagger uses the Blizzara spell on the Bomb enemy.

Now, here are the differences: Instead of using "Garnet", we use "Dagger". This is because this is her name in battle. The second difference is the use of "ice spell", while there's no existing rule over not using literal spell names, "Blizzara" is a gameplay ability - the second-tier ice spell. That's irrelevant to the story, since it is just an ice spell. And the other difference is we should use "the Bomb enemy" instead of "the Bomb", and "the Bomb enemies" instead of the "the Bombs".

Back to the subject at hand, in a battle strategy, we don't say "Ashelia B'nargin Dalmasca should use Blizzara", because her battle name isn't that, it's Ashe. Now, if we were to mention Garnet on an enemy in the Ice Cavern's battle page, it would be "Garnet", as that is her battle name at this point in the game.

And if we had to talk about Bartz's battles against the Goblins, we would call him "???", because that's his gameplay name at this point in the game.

So in gameplay strategies, you use both the enemy's and character's battle names. You use the exact ability name, even if it's part of a mistranslation. But in a story section, you ignore mistranslations, and you call the character by what they are normally called by. Usually the first appearance will be "Zidane Tribal", but on suceeding mentions, he would be called "Zidane". It also makes it easier to link to. In gameplay sections, you use their gameplay name and nothing else.

I just want to get the point across. It's the most logical thing to do. Call the enemies by their gameplay name, call the characters by their gameplay name. 88.108.114.103 13:35, October 28, 2010 (UTC)

Since you're ignoring my point and thus I assume cannot argue it, and since you're you and thus will keep arguing no matter what I say, I'm not going to reply. Her name is Garnet, not Dagger. Final word. Doreiku Kuroofangu 16:11, October 28, 2010 (UTC)
Your point is invalid because there is no Garnet in the battle against Garland. Final word. 88.108.114.103 19:47, October 28, 2010 (UTC)

Hold on, had an idea. What if, for enemy pages and strategy sections, we use Dagger, but for story and plot sections, we use Garnet? Doreiku Kuroofangu 20:11, October 28, 2010 (UTC)

That's what I was saying the entire time. That's the only thing I've been arguing. I never said anything else.
Garnet used an ice spell on the Bomb.
^perfect story sentence
Dagger uses the Blizzara spell on the Bomb enemy.
^perfect gameplay sentence
She's Dagger in battle so we call her Dagger. Her most common name in the script is Garnet so we call her Garnet. 88.108.114.103 20:32, October 28, 2010 (UTC)
@_@ you never said that, you've been arguing entirely for Dagger this entire time, you never said anything about using Garnet except during the time before she takes the alias. But, okay. Doreiku Kuroofangu 20:35, October 28, 2010 (UTC)
First comment on LaCC's page.
"However, when referring to story elements, you are entirely welcome to call her "Princess Garnet til Alexandros XVII". But in battle elements, you have to call her by the default character name."
Second comment:
"Both of them are units in a battle, assigned specific names. We should use those specific names."
Heavily implicating that I am splitting battle units from the rest of it
"In battles, she is called Dagger, and thus, this should be reflected in our enemy articles."
"In battles", "enemy articles". :)
"It's as simple as "call them what they are called in the situation"."
Because in the battle situation she's called Dagger, and otherwise, she might not be.
"in a battle strategy, we don't say "Ashelia B'nargin Dalmasca should use Blizzara", because her battle name isn't that, it's Ashe."
Referencing that "Ashelia B'nargin Dalmasca" isn't her battle-name, so we don't use it in her battle strategy.
"But in a story section, you ignore mistranslations, and you call the character by what they are normally called by"
Yeah, Garnet.
"In gameplay sections, you use their gameplay name and nothing else."
Yeah, Dagger.
I'm not going to go on about this, I just thought this was one of my clearer arguments, repeatedly using terms like "battle name" -- clearly trying to differentiate between "story" and "gameplay". o_0 - the instance that sparked the argument was LaCC changing "Dagger" to "Garnet" in a strategy on Garland's boss article.
But whatever, as long as you finally understand, even if it wasn't my long blocks of text that made you turn to my way of thinking ;D 88.108.114.103 21:46, October 28, 2010 (UTC)

Making a walkthrough.[edit source]

Excuse me, It is currently my goal to create a helpful guide to final fantasy 13 so others do not have to struggle through it like I did. I followed the walkthrough for creating walkthroughs, but I've already hit a speed bump, It claims I can put my page name into the search bar and then click "create page, But I've tried everything and can't figure it out.

Why?[edit source]

Why are you undoing my edits on Dissidia characters sites? We already know about their new costumes, so it deserves the proper spot in the article. SquallisbetterthanCloud 22:19, November 19, 2010 (UTC)

The only one that I saw that he undid was the Cloud one, and I think that's because he didn't feel it was necessary to show both normal and alternate EX Mode pictures. Oh, he also did the ones for Cloud, I think that's because it was taking up too much space in the middle of the article with pictures. I'd put them in the Gallery, if they're not there already. Jimcloud 22:22, November 19, 2010 (UTC)

Because the attire sections looked horribly clogged up and crowded with more than one image in them, and you gave it three. As I said in the edit summary - no. Doreiku Kuroofangu 22:23, November 19, 2010 (UTC)
But it is more comfortable to have all the pictures of the outfits, mentioned in the section in the same spot, isn't it? SquallisbetterthanCloud 22:38, November 19, 2010 (UTC)
You didn't really read my reply there, did you? Doreiku Kuroofangu 22:40, November 19, 2010 (UTC)
Look, you didn't understand me. The section mentiones THREE alternate outfits, while the picture shows only one. In this case, all the mentioned outfits should be shown, because as I said- it's more confortable for the readers this way. If it's too crowded for you, then there is another way of resolving it: mixing them all into one picture, that shows all three alternates. Say yourself, wouldn't it be better that way? SquallisbetterthanCloud 22:50, November 19, 2010 (UTC)
No. Doreiku Kuroofangu 22:52, November 19, 2010 (UTC)
And the reason? SquallisbetterthanCloud 22:54, November 19, 2010 (UTC)

Because it wouldn't be better, that is the reason. You merge all three images into one, either the image will be too small to be of use, or it'll be just as large and the problem of the section being crowded persists. Either way, no. Doreiku Kuroofangu 22:56, November 19, 2010 (UTC)

Also, the three images in question are different sizes and quality - putting them in one image together would plain look bad. Doreiku Kuroofangu 23:01, November 19, 2010 (UTC)
Look at Cecil's image- it shows two versions, and it's not too small or too big. Most characters pictures of alternate outfits would look like that. From what we know, only Cloud and lightning would be bigger, but seeing Cecil's picture- it won't make much difference. About quality- with this size? Who would notice the difference? SquallisbetterthanCloud 23:12, November 19, 2010 (UTC)

ILHI Speech[edit source]

Forgive me for speaking in Drake's stead, but there is no reward. We're just bound to a wiki where our definition of fun has been obscured greatly. It's an addiction, and we can't unhook ourselves from the addiction because we cannot achieve any of the alternative replacements.
Some of us may lie to ourselves to make themself believe what they're doing is helping others, and that's why it matters, but half the users don't recognise an audience, just a database. Contributing to the database is a mind-number and time-filler.
In any case, half of us wouldn't be here if we had better things to do. My social life fills half a day every few weeks. Needless to say, I don't personally edit here for a warm and fuzzy feeling. I'm a perfectionist, and I'm also a "what I say is right" kind of person, maybe because I am right. Therefore, anyone does something to a page I don't personally agree with, I turn to my over-protective self and stop them from ruining what is clearly right.
But I donno, I can't really talk for Drake. Maybe he does find that warm and fuzzy feeling. Maybe that warm and fuzzy feeling is enough for him to continue life. Or maybe his life is full, and his work for the wiki, his community service just makes him feel that much better, just the thought that he might be helping someone. Some of us are selfless. 80.42.253.26 19:45, December 20, 2010 (UTC)

D12 stages[edit source]

What the hell are you talking about? I'm not missing any point. It ISN'T listed above. It's named as "something that resembles it. Listed above are A) confirmed stages and B) speculated stages with speculated names. Empyreal Paradox and Phantom Train fall under "B," and thus should not be in the table, which contains only "A." And just because it's a mistranslation doesn't mean they won't do it again. But I guess logic won't stop you from reverting yet another of my attempts to improve an article. Getting really sick of your BS and treatment of me, I gotta say. Dazuro 20:06, December 26, 2010 (UTC)

MMII boxes[edit source]

Can't we do something about the charcoal gray text? It shouldn't be that hard to just turn it a proper black. The gray's bleeding into the colors on Oasis and I intend to keep the new skin up to monitor ow pages look. I don't want to have to keep switching back and forth just to read the comments.

And this is why you shouldn't use Oasis. Trust me, if you intend to keep using that skin then a bit of color bleeding is the least of the display problems you're facing. Doreiku Kuroofangu 04:26, October 7, 2010 (UTC)
Correction, that's one of the reasons Oasis has problems. Remember that some of us at least are going to have to use it just to ensure quality for unregistered users. The issue isn't all that hard to fix. All it takes is adding a style="color: #000000" to each table. Bluestarultor Best-of Stellar Arena sigicon.png BSA 04:51, October 7, 2010 (UTC)
How will changing the color fix it? Doreiku Kuroofangu 04:57, October 7, 2010 (UTC)
The color value is for foreground color. In practice, that means the text. It's just basic in-line CSS. Bluestarultor Best-of Stellar Arena sigicon.png BSA 05:00, October 7, 2010 (UTC)
So change the text color of the entire bracket? Doreiku Kuroofangu 05:03, October 7, 2010 (UTC)
Well, I'm not going to argue then. I thought it was a simple change, but then I'm a CS major and do this sort of thing all the time. If it's that much of a hassle, I'll just highlight. Bluestarultor Best-of Stellar Arena sigicon.png BSA 05:08, October 7, 2010 (UTC)

Or you can bother to explain what the problem is. Don't patronize me. Doreiku Kuroofangu 05:09, October 7, 2010 (UTC)

Sorry. Wasn't trying to. I just really don't have a good measure for how much HTML and CSS other people know or how much of a pain it is (I could totally understand something that big being a major pain to change), since I actually enjoy hammering out code like a freak. XD
The problem is that Oasis uses a gray font color for its default. On darker backgrounds like those used in MM, it's hard to read. It's an easy fix of just adding the style I showed you to the table header, like I did on my page. Here's a snippet:
{| border="2" cellpadding="3" style="color: #000000"
That's really all it takes. It needs to go in every table, mind you, but just adding that style to it turns the default text color for the whole table to black, which can then be overridden by individual users' own CSS. People on Monaco or Monobook won't see a difference, since black is already their default text color globally. It just makes it easier on everyone testing Oasis. Bluestarultor Best-of Stellar Arena sigicon.png BSA 05:26, October 7, 2010 (UTC)
No problem then, consider it done. In spite of Oasis' (many many) flaws, I don't mind changing the tables - so long as I understand what it is I'm doing. :) Doreiku Kuroofangu 05:29, October 7, 2010 (UTC)
Does that work for you? Doreiku Kuroofangu 05:30, October 7, 2010 (UTC)
EDIT CONFLICT X3!: :If they give Oasis its own MediaWiki CSS page, I can give Fae or 8-Bit the CSS to keep the table text black only in Oasis. Might as well be my job, since I developed the CSS for our Monaco look. Until then, highlight (I guess). I don't like the idea of messing with Monaco and Monobook to clarify the vomit that is Oasis. Oh, and IT > CS. :P Master Conjurer 05:32, October 7, 2010 (UTC)
Edit -_-: I mean to say, I can set all text to black in Oasis under those conditions. I'm not against changing the MM tables for everyone. Master Conjurer 05:34, October 7, 2010 (UTC)
@Drake: Yeah, the first one works. For some reason that's the only one, though. Mind if I play with it a bit?
@MC: Actually, I already graduated from an IT-Programmer/Analyst program with my AAS and a certificate in web development, among others. I did the Mosinee City web site for my internship, although they had me do a lot of things with the design I didn't like. I'm just going for my BS in CS with a business minor to help my marketability. ;) Bluestarultor Best-of Stellar Arena sigicon.png BSA 05:43, October 7, 2010 (UTC)
EDIT: Okay, after a bit of tweaking (I didn't save anything), I figured out why the first box is the only one to display it right. For some reason it wants the style code in there twice for the text to go black. I don't know if it has to do something with the order because of something in the template or what, but having it in twice works. Changed?[edit source]

I changed Sephiroth's link in Tifa's Dissidia page because she knows the Sephiroth from Dissidia, but not the Sephiroth from the original game. Why'd you change it? --Zalbaag 20:53, October 12, 2010 (UTC)

Because that is incorrect. Any actual canon connection between the Dissidia characters and their original counterparts is speculation. Furthermore, "she knows the Sephiroth from Dissidia, but not the Sephiroth from the original game." is plain wrong - Dissidia Tifa does not know Dissida Sephy. can I ask for some help?[edit source]

Sorry for interupting your time, but I have a few questions. I'm working on a talk bubble and I've just about finished mine

Is this alright to use? Also I'm kinda stuck into how exactly I use it, I have to save it in the Template section right? I can't figure out how to do that.

Also I would like to make a walkthrough for Final Fantasy Crystal Chonicals: The Crystal Bearers. I've read the creating a walkthrough FAQ but am sort of confused on how to make an appropriate page in the correct section.

also would working on the guide typing on my user page, preview, and save on a notepad work just as well so I don't take up space anywhere on the Wikia?

Finally every time I preview my scroll bar will not go all the way down, and will jump back up anytime I go too far or sometimes jumps when I start typing again. Is this the Server I use or can I fix this?

thanks for taking time to read. and sorry for my confusing ignorance. I really want be of any help if I can. Razordash 23:19, October 26, 2010 (UTC)

Need an Outsider's Opinion[edit source]

There is an ongoing discussion on the Talk:action encounter page as to the significance of the difference between action encounters and fixed encounters. All the arguments can be viewed on the first page, and though the debate has carried on for over a day now, I have noticed a lack of momentum, and thus thought it would be time to introduce a neutral third party to end the debate once and for all.

If you have the time, and no other has done so thus far, can you please review the debate and make a decision, as we both seem incapable of doing so at this point.

Also, in a rather unrelated matter (but I fear it will result in a similar stalemate as it is between and same person and I), could you please clarify if Garnet or Dagger is the appropriate title for Princess Garnet of Final Fantasy IX, in the context of a page such as Garland (Final Fantasy IX Boss).

I thank you for your time, and apologize for being unable to resolve this matter between yourselves. Likeacupcake 13:18, October 27, 2010 (UTC)

The Emperor didn't say that?[edit source]

That's strange, the Emperor's trivia section said this about Dissidia and saying this:

Recent remakes state the Emperor's soul was split into two greater entities. Interestingly, Dissidia shows the human Emperor and his hellish transformation as one being, even going as far as to state he sold his soul for it.

If you want it removed, I'll do it, but I just need to know with absolute certainty. Weedle McHairybug 19:16, October 29, 2010 (UTC)

Dissidia doesn't state he sold his soul, but implies it - his character bio in the Museum says "He'll do anything for power - even sell his soul". But they never say in Dissidia he actually did sell his soul, or even mention him ruling hell. So yes, that section should be reworded. Doreiku Kuroofangu 19:18, October 29, 2010 (UTC)

Final Fantasy VI Help[edit source]

Greetings,

I read your profile and you say that you're a Final Fantasy VI expert. Well, if that is so, I ask for you help as I am stuck in Kefka's Tower. To help you understand where I am stuck, if you look at the 2:41 minute mark in this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xzz7ngX7atM&feature=related (sorry about the link, it is just to a youtube video of someone playing through FFVI) I am stuck exactly after that moment. My center party has defeated Poltergiest and is now sitting on the switch that you land on when you drop through the floor. I press [square] to switch to the next party and when I go to move my right party, and I bring them to where that door should appear at minute 3:49, nothing happens. It is just a wall and my party can not advance. The same things happens with the party that is on the right. Is there something that I have missed? I have checked through several FAQs, walkthroughs, and now youtube videos, and I can't find out what it is that I am doing wrong. If you can help me I would really appreciate it, I have put in over 30 hours into this game and I am so close to the end. Thanks in advance.

Sincerely,

PSN ID: NoonenF1

Ah, I think I know the problem. With the center party, go back to the area shown at 2:40, and go down. Hit the switch there on the balcony overlooking the path below and the two doors should appear. Doreiku Kuroofangu 05:00, November 3, 2010 (UTC)

Dear Drake Clawfang,

Thanks a lot for your help, that was the case, I never stepped on that switch to open those doors. Man, I couldn't imagine playing this game on the SNES before the days of the Internet or the published strategy guide, I would have been stuck in the first hour of gameplay. Thanks again. All I have to do now is simply beat the game (which may prove to be tougher than I had anticipated. My 3rd party is not as strong as I thought they were, I knew they were my weakest of course, but I'll need to battle Goddess with them, and so far I have been using the Moogle Charm to get them where they are now in the Tower, I think I should be safe in sneaking out a victory against her though, and I digress...). Thanks!

Sincerely,

PSN ID: NoonenF1

Dissidia Storyline Piece Template[edit source]

I don't know if you use the new Wikia skin or not, but if you do, you'll notice the Dissidia Storyline Piece template looks very cramped and messy, and since most people are using this wikia skin, I believe the template should look at its best in the wikia skin, even if it slightly detriments the look in Monobook.

Can you quickly swap to the wikia skin and look at the template in my Sandbox, and tell me what you think? By making the table fixed width, all the columns line up as well. In my opinion, it looks so much better in the wikia skin, and it doesn't look too bad in the Monobook skin.

Also, on a related note, the Start tile on the storyline maps is making the row taller than it should be on the Wikia skin. I know what's causing it and I'll fix it tomorrow. Jeppo (Talk | contribs) 22:23, November 9, 2010 (UTC)

Accessories: While I can understand what you mean, moving the Accessories to the right of the image presents a couple of problems. Firstly, the word "Accessories" is wider than the width of the second column, and because the web browser will widen the column to make the word fit, it has to take away some width from the other columns (this only happens on the Wikia skin, where the table width is restricted), which means the table column widths won't align between transclusions. Secondly, for enemies with a lot of accessories, the accessories field may go onto two lines. Increasing the size of the accessories row won't stop all cases, but at least it prevents the image field from being larger on one transclusion than on the others. As well as that, the images are programmed so that they never go wider than 100 pixels or taller than 137 pixels, which is the size of the image field at the moment.
div widths: The widths these need to be set to is 660 pixels. I've just found out that 'width="660px"' doesn't work on divs (and neither did width="100%"), so you'll have to use 'style=width:660px"'. I'll do that now. Jeppo (Talk | contribs) 19:19, November 11, 2010 (UTC)
</div> weren't there before? I'm surprised the divs worked without them previously! Jeppo (Talk | contribs) 19:25, November 11, 2010 (UTC)
It's okay. We all forget things from time to time. Jeppo (Talk | contribs) 19:34, November 11, 2010 (UTC)
Actually I've noticed the rows are slightly shorter in Monobook than there are for the new wikia skin. I've recalculated the maximum height for images: 119 pixels. Also has the '!' table code for headers never centred the text for Monobook users? Jeppo (Talk | contribs) 19:50, November 11, 2010 (UTC)
The "!" coding bolds and centers text on Monobook. Doreiku Kuroofangu 20:07, November 11, 2010 (UTC)

coding problem[edit source]

Hey, sorry but I have another question.

I wanted to add collumns to my page so I experiamented with colspan a little. However I'm not certain of which codes are essential for colspan codings and what colpsan="2" "3" "ect" mean. also I don't know the codes to make Text (or pictures) appear. I tried Text= but it doesn't work.

do you mind either explaining it or pointing me to somewhere where I can learn what all essentials are needed for making columns and maybe even a few extras? I'm interest in particlery adding things below the right of my user page.

Oh... and nice little "new message' thing you got there... it made me sick. lol

Thanks for reading. Razordash 08:20, November 12, 2010 (UTC)

Look here. See how the "Accessories" field stretches all the way under the other fields above it? That's colspan, making a field stretch out longer than the table has it coced to be. Doreiku Kuroofangu 17:03, November 12, 2010 (UTC)

I'm sorry, but I still didn't understand anything. Well thank you anyways, I'll see if I can eventually get things to work out. By the way, while I was there I noticed Garlands portrait had Shantotto's instead, I replaced it with what I thought was the most suitable picture that looked close to the others. Razordash 03:49, November 13, 2010 (UTC)

Hey. Noticed you use a lot of hex for colors.[edit source]

I know you're not a programmer, so I figured I'd drop you a link: http://www.w3schools.com/css/css_colornames.asp

It lists all the color names that are standard across all browsers. I've been using it a lot recently around here and figured I'd pass on the love. If nothing else, it gives you a few nice ones with easy-to-remember names. Might make doing up the MMII brackets go faster. ;) Bluestarultor Best-of Stellar Arena sigicon.png BSA 17:50, November 12, 2010 (UTC)

Why would it make them faster? Doreiku Kuroofangu 17:58, November 12, 2010 (UTC)
*shrug* Type in a word of a color you know you like? Just thought I'd offer. Some people are more numeric, some are more lingual, options are always good. I'll admit I split between named colors and hex values I know look good depending on what I'm doing. I personally use #0080FF as my signature color elsewhere, but if I need a nice color fast, for, say, a pleasant light brown, it's easier to just type "peru" than it is to futz with it. Just thought I'd offer it for you to glance over since I'd been using it. Bluestarultor Best-of Stellar Arena sigicon.png BSA 22:10, November 12, 2010 (UTC)

DMW "link twice"[edit source]

I put the disclaimer linking to Steve's guide because otherwise it's not obvious I have straight-out copied the tables from his FAQ. Another way would be to use the <ref>, but there's quite a few tables. And another reason was because Absolute Steve doesn't seem to like his stuff being copied on Wikis, thought maximum exposure to his guide might not hurt. But, then again, it's not really info one can protect.Keltainentoukokuu 01:17, November 13, 2010 (UTC)Keltainentoukokuu

Exactly. I don't remember what I said on the subject back then, but IMO if the data is directly taken from the game then no sourcing is needed since theoretically any user on the Wiki can hack the game themselves and provide the exact same information. Wiki and GameFAQs are two different entities, so ASAIC Absolute Steve has no claim over the information we post here even if it did come from his FAQ. Doreiku Kuroofangu 01:29, November 13, 2010 (UTC)
Yeah, but it is kind of "embarrassingly obviously" copied from his faq, although I did change some of the terms to what I thought sounded better. But it is "just" numbers after all.Keltainentoukokuu 03:39, November 13, 2010 (UTC)Keltainentoukokuu
Exactly. The link at the bottom provides a source without directly being used as one. Doreiku Kuroofangu 03:40, November 13, 2010 (UTC)

Dissidia 012 relase[edit source]

Hey, about it... the Dissidia page gives the link for Gamestop, Amazon and Best Buy. And they all say it will be realased on MArch 31, 2011. I dunno, but I don't think it's a coincidence :s However I'll leave as it is.

Uh-huh, and what can you tell me about all those sites? Hint - they're stores. Ergo, it's a placeholder date. Otherwise don't you think all the other major sites would list it too, if it were real? Doreiku Kuroofangu 15:59, November 18, 2010 (UTC)
Yeah... I only thought it was real because order section in the Dissidia 012 NA page gives that pages. Altough now I see it's logic. Maybe Sqare gave them the Japanese relase date (Or a fake one as you say) so they could already put pre orders.
It's possible. The official site itself though still only says 2011. I remember that's happened with other games in the past, they put up a date that isn't real until the real date is announced, just so they gave can customers a date to expect the product by. No worries though, it's ok. Doreiku Kuroofangu 16:06, November 18, 2010 (UTC)

The last day of March is the end of the financial year. Usually companies don't use end of December as the end of financial year, because Christmas is so busy. The new fiscal year starts April the first. All placeholder release-dates are always put as end of March. At the end of March these huge gaming shop websites will do their end of the year numbers, all the numbers for the pre-orders for these games that haven't been released yet, and will put a new release date; probably something like spring/summer/autumn 2011 if they don't have an actual date. The date there is more like for them than for us, to keep their stuff in order. If any game says March 31 it probably means "will be released next fiscal year" so after that date, sometime. MM2[edit source]

I'm very sorry for the misunderstanding. It wasn't to do with BH's edit (I was perplexed by that, but it wasn't a spam edit, so I assumed that it was innocent and must have been made for a reason.) The 'vandalized' comment was written because I had accidentally left the edit page open and someone had messed up my vote whilst I was away from the computer. However, they only made the edits on the preview mode, and did not save them. But I had been awake for seventy hours at that point, so I wasn't all that focused, and I 'corrected' my votes when they didn't need correcting. Again, I'm sorry for the misunderstanding, and I hope that I haven't upset anyone. Kuja FFIX 22:00, November 21, 2010 (UTC)

Not really. Tags are meant to distinguish between two things. But when characters can already be distinguished by their title, there is no need for a tag. Tags are more of a last resort. Hey, I still owe you (and all the FFwiki mods) for editing the Dissidia page without really consulting with you. I just thought it would improve the page but you cleared it otherwise. I'd love to be of help but I'm usually the last to get new info. :P

I, for one, appreciate the dedication in maintaining the credibility of this site, in spite of all the challenges you have in noob editors (like me?!).

Keep it up. Thanks again.

No problem, it's why we're here. :) And don't worry about being a noob editor. There's many users here that can make maintaining the wiki difficult, but you're certainly not one of them. DoreikuKuroofangu - Visit the Soul Shrine! 18:55, December 20, 2010 (UTC)

I think I entered my post twice by erroneously pressing the refresh button and now my sig was removed.

Just a question out of pure curiosity. Other than the enjoyment of doing all this, what do you get in return? Less people are still around who do things so much with nothing in return. You're close to being an angel (or maybe you are!) if you're one of 'em.

No need to be specific. :D I'll surely get the idea. Rivan Pneuma 19:07, December 20, 2010 (UTC)

The reward I get is personal satisfaction in helping build the Wiki into a comprehensive database. It keeps me busy, makes me feel like I'm doing something productive with my spare time, and I make friends. With me unemployed IRL, right now the Wiki is pretty much my job. ;p DoreikuKuroofangu - Visit the Soul Shrine! 20:01, December 20, 2010 (UTC)
It's not true that you don't get anything in return, although maybe what you get from doing work on a wiki isn't as tangible as...say...getting paid salary for doing a day job. However, going to work, for most of people I'd say, is more than just getting money. You have your relationships with co-workers, you face "challenges" you can overcome, you can develop professionally, you get the satisfaction of having done a good job. Yeah you don't get paid here and your contributions are "invisible" to most people who actually view the page, unlike in like GameFAQs, but if you want recognition this probably isn't the best place. Just having done a good job is satisfaction enough to many people. It's a hobby. Some people write poems or something, some people contribute to a wiki. (Not that the two are mutually exclusive. ;))Keltainentoukokuu 20:21, December 20, 2010 (UTC)

How does this work?[edit source]

Hiya, Mr. Clawfang! I am new user Super Michael Mario. I need help understanding a few things, like, how do you vote in the Dragon's Neck Colloseum, for starters. I will probablly need more help with other things too, but this is my first time as a user... well, anywhere, really. Also, I,m kinda as computer savavy as a fork, so bare with me. I couldn't understand the rules on how you vote; specifically, what does /~~~~/ mean? I'm serious, I don't know what that means. I want to help around and stuff, but I am still not sure how. I can ask my dad if you can't help, but at least explain how to vote, please.

The "~~~~" is just what you do to sign your name - type that on a page and save it, and the Wikicoding will do the rest. As for voting in the DNC, just put "#~~~~" under whoever you want to vote for at the bottom of the list. DoreikuKuroofangu - Visit the Soul Shrine! 05:19, December 22, 2010 (UTC)

I had an accident in putting my vote in because put in because another person who gave me advice wasn't able to warn me before it was late, but Ms. Jimcloud helped fix it and saved me from potenially being banned! :D Also, I think I accidentlly made my response a separate title, how do I fix it? <nowiki>(~~~~)

Greetings from one of your Youtube Suscribers[edit source]

You sir are a legend of Final Fantasy, but for the longest time now I have been wondering - How do you find out everything for Dissidia 012 so quickly? I mean I saw your second trailer yesterday confirming Yuna, and I must say I am impressed, also with your game play video's showing the new characters, etc. I understand that being a Moderator, as well as all of the mail ou probably get, you most likely won't read this, let alone reply, but I would be very happy if you did.

lol, thanks but I'm hardly a legend. I find out so fast because I follow multiple fan sites, one of which consistently provides up to date news right from Japan, so if something new happens odds are one of the sites I follow will report it soon. D12 stage, revisited[edit source]

My problem here is specifically with one article, so let's focus on the issues, shall we? You still have not given any rationale or citation saying that they're new stages with those names, ergo they're uncited disputable facts, ergo they get removed. If you'd care to actually debate rather than spam reverts, perhaps we could actually get things done around here. Dazuro 22:33, December 26, 2010 (UTC)
