RE: Open Projects[edit source]

Images[edit source]

You need to categorise and license the images you upload. FFIX screenshots would be for Category:Final Fantasy IX screenshots or Category:Final Fantasy IX PC screenshots or Category:Final Fantasy IX iOS screenshots. You can just type {{Screenshot|Final Fantasy IX}} (or Final Fantasy IX PC/iOS depending on the version) to the Summary box when uploading. If they are images of Burmecia they probably belong to Category:Final Fantasy IX location images but there are various image categories, check Category:Final Fantasy IX images for that. If you could go back and put those to the images you uploaded it would be great.Keltainentoukokuu (talk) 00:51, August 21, 2017 (UTC)

Yeah no problem, I don't know why I don't do it on upload but I didn't forget this time, just got too late so left it for the morning. DanC07 (talk) 06:07, August 21, 2017 (UTC)
Okay cool, sorry for nagging. <3 The image categories become chaos so quickly if not managed so I'm trying to keep on top of it.Keltainentoukokuu (talk) 13:08, August 21, 2017 (UTC)
Haha no problem I forget more often that not. If you want me to go through anything to help out just let me know. DanC07 (talk) 16:42, August 21, 2017 (UTC)

Nice images of the FFXV decals etc! I did those paintjobs a while ago but didn't have enough material for the last two so no pics of them. The Auto Parts page info and the decal images should be joined somehow though, and the /Customization page might be too long and image-heavy. Keltainentoukokuu (talk) 00:34, August 30, 2017 (UTC)

What do you think then, have Regalia/Colors, Regalia/Interior, Regalia/Decals & Stickers pages to break it up, because when I add the rest of the colors it will be even longer. Then when I finish the auto parts page I can link to the individual pages from each section? When I started it I was mainly testing the module. There might be room for a Regalia/Soundtrack page with audio clips from each 'song' from each 'album' too. But you know more about this sort of thing so what did you have in mind? DanC07 (talk) 18:00, August 31, 2017 (UTC)
I think the music player should have its own article, because the same music plays in the MP3 player, so it's not just a car thing. List of every album & song and where to get them is good, but audio clips would be impressive! Not sure what to call it though. It's called MP3 Player on the field, not sure it's called anything in the car.
Breaking it up by color, interior and decals seems like a good idea. What are the menu options called in the game when you ask Cindy to customize, using the same terms here would be best. Not sure what to do with the /Customization page, maybe it's not really needed.Keltainentoukokuu (talk) 18:41, August 31, 2017 (UTC)
So there is the color heading, then body, interior, and wheel. Then decals, body (for the full body sets), and all the individual panels (but the sticker is the same so we don't need to separate). So I don't know if thats Regalia/Body Color or Regalia Color/Body etc. I think it's best you decide that but then I can create the tables if you like, because I'll probably make modules to save JBed a job later.

SStill images - but different topic. The bestiary has been release which I have been waiting for for so long! But having seen it I think someone should decide how we will do the enemy images. Have you seen the bestiary? DanC07 (talk)

Looking at the menu, I would have Regalia/Color, Regalia/Decals and Regalia/Components, and just do away with /Customization, and make the Regalia#Customization section nice with obvious links to customization galleries and the Auto Parts list. Maybe the ore in the Auto Parts could have like a section, used for this color and link to...maybe as like the last thing.
I have seen screenshots of the bestiary. I am near the end of FFXII TZA so I think I will complete that and then go check out the FFXV free event and bestiary. The bestiary looks like the best way to get images for the enemy infoboxes in the absence of the actual renders. Image of just the enemy without all the other stuff would be the best. I don't think it's so easy to erase that background, so guess the bestiary background will just have to do.Keltainentoukokuu (talk) 20:18, August 31, 2017 (UTC)
I have had a go at removing the background on the reapertail and uploaded as a test - think it looks ok. Do we want the images from the bestiary list, like the one you uploaded, in the galleries for each enemy? DanC07 (talk) 21:49, September 1, 2017 (UTC)
That looks...amazing! Wow. Very clean! I'm not sure what image from bestiary list you mean...the "preview" window above the list? That looks to be the same as the model. Or does the background change?Keltainentoukokuu (talk) 01:02, September 2, 2017 (UTC)
Yeah I think it's the same as the model so won't need that. I'll start working on some of the pics tomorrow, and then I'll have a sort through all of the enemy pics to see what can be put into the galleries. DanC07 (talk)

Nice! As far as I know the wiki now has the nicest images of FFXV enemies in all of the internets.Keltainentoukokuu (talk) 01:56, September 10, 2017 (UTC)

Hey man, awesome job on adding FFXV enemy images! Just letting you know that when you add them, you should remove {{image needed}} from the top of the page afterwards.--Magicite-ffvi-ios.png Technobliterator TC 13:26, September 10, 2017 (UTC)

Thanks both. Some I'm happy with but the ones that have hair/fur have a blue tint which is from the background that I cant get out, and the Mushussu/Mushmahhu haven't got their spikes, again I can't keep them without keeping the background - still thinking how I can improve that.
I was trying to get an in-game image as well like the ones Keltainentoukokuu has to add as a gallery before I remove the {{image needed}}, but it's so hard to get a good one I think that will just have to be an ongoing project. DanC07 (talk) 19:24, September 10, 2017 (UTC)
I wouldn't worry about that. {{image needed}} is more for when the page has no image at all than for pages that already have images that could just be slightly improved. So I'd still remove it after you add them in, even if you think you can add a better one.--Magicite-ffvi-ios.png Technobliterator TC 19:27, September 10, 2017 (UTC)

You have been doing an excellent job extracting those Final Fantasy XV enemy images. Would you be willing to extract some World of Final Fantasy ones for me from some files I would provide? My photo editing software stinks...
I can't promise mine will be much better but upload the files and let me know which ones and I'll have a go. DanC07 (talk) 17:52, September 23, 2017 (UTC)

FFIV enemies project[edit source]

Nice work splitting the FFIV enemy pages! There needs to be some way for people who want the 3D version info to find the pages however. They don't seem to be linked from the "main" 2D pages, and the tag in them doesn't say that it doesn't cover all versions of FFIV anymore. Also location pages only have lists of the 2D versions. Final Fantasy IV 3D armor etc pages should also link to the new articles, but that's easy to do.Keltainentoukokuu (talk) 14:45, November 4, 2017 (UTC)

Here's is my idea for FFIV enemies. The Enemy name (Final Fantasy IV) would be the parent page that lists the enemy's appearance in Enemy name (Final Fantasy IV 2D), Enemy name (Final Fantasy IV 3D), Enemy name (-Interlude-) and Enemy name (After Years). It would just say what the enemy is and where it is fought and if anything is notable about it, like "can only be hurt by Gil Toss" or whatever. Then the enemy pages would have all the stats and specific strategies. The other versions of the enemy would be in the "Related enemies" section like now, but just adding the 3D version one to the list.Keltainentoukokuu (talk) 17:35, November 4, 2017 (UTC)

Okay, sounds good. But as you can probably see by the slow progress I haven't got much time, so it will have to be be bit by bit. For now I will continue to separate the 2D and 3D stats, because I only started editing the pages to add the easy type information so I could take off the maintenance tags. Then I'll tidy it all up. DanC07 (talk) 15:28, November 5, 2017 (UTC)
That's fine. I could help after they're split, though I don't know much about FFIV.Keltainentoukokuu (talk) 15:37, November 5, 2017 (UTC)
If you really wanted you could be doing the same with the Interlude enemies? DanC07 (talk)

Hey, great work on the project. Just want you to keep in mind a few edits I made to the pages:

  • I've added a "remake" and "original" section to the Enemy infobox. Here you type the name of the corresponding 3D/2D page. Try to include them.
  • Please don't add AI script or Formations to the 3D version. Unlike the 2D version, these aren't realistic to obtain, so a page is not considered incomplete if it lacks an AI script section.
  • We'll have to check with Xeno, but I don't think we need other appearances sections on the 3D pages. I think those are just needed on the 2D ones.
  • For 3D pages, please edit the Relation enemies section to link to the 3D enemies in that section and not the 2D ones. Likewise, you can remove enemies that don't appear in 3D and vice versa.

Thanks!--Magicite-ffvi-ios.png Technobliterator TC 13:18, January 9, 2018 (UTC)

Oh, you also don't need to list the names of enemies in other translations on 3D pages. Only the 3D translation of the enemies' name is needed.--Magicite-ffvi-ios.png Technobliterator TC 13:22, January 9, 2018 (UTC)

Thanks, I've started doing that with the bosses. Could you help with enemies that have more than one image for each game in the gallery please, for instance Barbariccia? DanC07 (talk) 08:03, January 10, 2018 (UTC)
Can do, I've done the ones so far. Just a reminder to remove |aiscript=true and |formations=true from the 3D pages.--Magicite-ffvi-ios.png Technobliterator TC 11:04, January 10, 2018 (UTC)
I'm on the Dark Elf page and there is no image for the PSP, but in the PSP images there is one for Astos which has been used on the FF1 Astos page. Is this the image for Dark Elf FFIV do you know? DanC07 (talk) 08:06, January 16, 2018 (UTC)
FFIV PSP reused a lot of the sprites from FFI and FFII, so this is very likely to be the case.--Magicite-ffvi-ios.png Technobliterator TC 08:54, January 16, 2018 (UTC)

About the AI scripts: I have the Official Complete Guide for the DS version which lists AI scripts and the like, .pdf here (it's all in Japanese though, so you'll have to use programs like KanjiTomo and/or Google Translate to make headway if you aren't competent in JP). I also have an unfinished document that's basically a conversion/translation of the book's bestiary here. Firebird (talk) BlackMage-bd-icon.png 13:00, January 16, 2018 (UTC)

Firebird: if you can Google Translate that roughly and add those to the pages, that'd be great, though we realistically say that a 3D games' page will be very difficult to get the AI script for, so we don't expect it, and a page isn't considered a stub if it lacks it.

DanC: I was talking to Xenomic and I think it makes sense if the 3D versions of FFIV enemy pages don't have the "Other appearances" sections. The Pictlogica/Record Keeper/etc mobile games' appearances of those enemies is based on their 2D sprite only, and not their 3D model, so it makes sense to remove them. So it makes sense if you don't copy them over for future models, and I can remove them from the 3D pages already finished (probably logged in as the bot so I don't spam the RC with red).--Magicite-ffvi-ios.png Technobliterator TC 02:06, January 19, 2018 (UTC)

No problem will do. Can you help with the images on the Elemental Archfiends (Final Fantasy IV 2D) page, don't know how to do multiple levels of tabs for a gallery as you will see. Thanks. DanC07 (talk) 23:44, January 19, 2018 (UTC)
You can't do multiple levels of tabs since you're not supposed to. It would screw over mobile.--Magicite-ffvi-ios.png Technobliterator TC 23:47, January 19, 2018 (UTC)

I've now finished the split between 2D and 3D (thanks to those above for the help), I still need to go through and remove any red links and change the galleries, but I can be doing that whilst anything else is going on, and it won't take long. So I can remove any images from the games that are no longer applicable - but do we want the artwork on both pages? DanC07 (talk) 07:39, January 30, 2018 (UTC)

Edit: The other thing that might need looking at as anyone is going through is the actual text, and any changes that need to be made where it refers to another version. Where it was divided into 2D and 3D I have split it but I don't think that was in many cases, especially for non-bosses.

The 2D pages need to say that they are for the 2D version. Like CPU (Final Fantasy IV) needs to be CPU (Final Fantasy IV 2D), or otherwise people looking for the other one will go to the wrong page. CPU (Final Fantasy IV) should be the parent page that has links to both versions.
I think Amano art could be on all pages, but your call really.Keltainentoukokuu (talk) 09:19, January 30, 2018 (UTC)
Ok hopefully I can manage that, just one question on what information should be on the parent pages? The ones I have seen before have a bit of information about the location of each enemy in each game. When the information is basically the same for both, how should the parent page look? Thanks. DanC07 (talk) 18:05, January 30, 2018 (UTC)
It could be short, but I think needed for navigation. I would do an intro that says what the enemy is, and if it is part of an enemy family. Then, appearances in FFIV 2D, FFIV 3D, FFIV Interlude and FFIV After Years if the latter two apply. These would say where it is fought and if there is anything interesting about it (good steals or good AP or terrible EXP or rare enemy or missable enemy bestiary entry or whatever). If there is nothing interesting about it then it will just say is fought here and there. Could have a gallery at the bottom but not really essential. They might have some other appearances in mobile games.Keltainentoukokuu (talk) 20:53, January 30, 2018 (UTC)
Just want to check - Barnabas currently has a parent page which has FFIV and FFIV:TAY, then other appearances. Should I modify pages like this to change FFIV to 2D and 3D or does there need to be a Baranbas (Final Fantasy IV) specific parent page? Thanks DanC07 (talk) 07:05, February 9, 2018 (UTC)
The ones that already have parent pages can just have the 3D version added to them.Keltainentoukokuu (talk) 10:39, February 9, 2018 (UTC)

Hi, can someone remind me how to mark pages for deletion please? I assume we are creating 'new' 2D pages so that it shows as 2D in the search bar, or is it better for any links just to change the display title? DanC07 (talk) 07:14, February 27, 2018 (UTC)

Just butting in real quick... thank you for your work on the enemy pages by the way. About marking pages for deletion you just put {{SD}}--Xion V. (talk) 07:32, February 27, 2018 (UTC)
You can rename articles by clicking the arrow in the edit button and then choosing Move. Then run a bot to relink to the newly named page. Articles should always be moved rather than deleted and re-created because then you preserve the edit history.Keltainentoukokuu (talk) 09:46, February 27, 2018 (UTC)
Ok I remembered how to bot after a while but watching it do the links for the first page made me think of two questions -
For other parent pages such as Worm, for FFIV abyss worm should that now link to the Abyss Worm parent page or 2D, as 2D and 3D are connected anyway? The other question is one I hope to get to down the link but should the After Years link to just 2D or both? DanC07 (talk) 07:44, March 2, 2018 (UTC)
I did Abyss Worm as an example of I think would be an okay way to do it, but you can do what you think looks good. I would do the {{Main| link to the parent but in the text interlink to the specific enemy article.Keltainentoukokuu (talk) 16:26, March 2, 2018 (UTC)
