Testing[edit source]

Please use the Preview button when testing edits, or alternatively create your own Sandbox or use the Wiki's own. We prefer users not to test by publishing the edit. Tia-LewiseRydia - Young battle.png 14:47, January 8, 2014 (UTC)

Previewing wouldn't give the right result in this case. And dood'z edits are better. They definitely should be 50%. 14:49, January 8, 2014 (UTC)
Well, fair enough, but there you go, for future reference. Tia-LewiseRydia - Young battle.png 14:52, January 8, 2014 (UTC)
I intended to check if changing to 50% would solve a problem that has annoyed me for a while, which it did. Otherwise I always use the Preview button. --CrappyScrap (talk) 17:02, January 8, 2014 (UTC)

How to delete stuff[edit source]

To put anything up for deletion we have couple different delete templates. {{SD|<write the reason this page/file should be deleted>}} (SD stands for "speedy delete") for anything that was a mistake or obviously against the wiki rules etc. Anything you have uploaded or created and want deleted you can use this one. {{Delete|<write reason here why you think this should be deleted>}} can be put to pages/files that you think should be deleted but require discussion from the community first to see if others agree. You could then make your case in the talk page. Finally, {{Dup|File:<the version of the duplicate file we want to keep on the wiki here>}} is for duplicates; sometimes two versions of an image etc get uploaded by accident by different users, and in this case one of them should be deleted, so the dup template can be used. (They don't need to be exact mirror duplicates, just the wiki doesn't benefit from having images that are almost the same so just keep one of them.)

This will send the files/pages to delete categories where admins can delete them. Hope this helps. :)Keltainentoukokuu (talk) 00:27, June 26, 2014 (UTC)

Thanks! :) --CrappyScrap (talk) 12:14, June 27, 2014 (UTC)

Images[edit source]

Thanks for the Siege of South Figaro article! Are you sure these images are of the GBA version though? The dimensions would suggest the SNES version.Keltainentoukokuu (talk) 08:39, July 8, 2014 (UTC)

I stay corrected -- I wasn't paying attention when I uploaded them. Feel free to move them, and I'll make sure to avoid this mistake in the future. --CrappyScrap (talk) 15:51, July 8, 2014 (UTC)
Okay it's not a big job to do. Thanks. :)Keltainentoukokuu (talk) 16:02, July 8, 2014 (UTC)

FF8 flags[edit source]

Where did you get the Esthar, Dollet, and Galbadia flags? The Balamb ones need to be deleted, as they're fanart and we prefer not to use fanart images in the mainspace, and never without permission. Drake Clawfang (talk) 01:59, August 9, 2014 (UTC)

I fixed and reuploaded existing jpg files. As for the SeeD logo, it is visible on the world map after leaving Balamb Garden, though in yellow instead of blue. --CrappyScrap (talk) 02:12, August 9, 2014 (UTC)
That's fine, but the image you uploaded was derived from fanart and so we need permission to use it. In the future if you're replacing images, tag the old ones for deletion please. Just put "{{SD|Replaced format}}" on the page and that'll be fine. Drake Clawfang (talk) 02:18, August 9, 2014 (UTC)
Thanks. As the fanart was really just a remake of an existing logo, I assumed the author could not claim any copyright. --CrappyScrap (talk) 02:41, August 9, 2014 (UTC)

The Timber flag you uploaded had its colours tweaked. The one we had was scanned by Espritduo from an official FF artbook, so those colours should be the correct ones. Also, you have not been categorising the images. For example, flag images go to: Category:Final Fantasy VIII World Artwork Images.

If you upload the same image on the wiki again, the one you are replacing should be flagged to be deleted. You can use the {{Dup|File:name.jpg}} template for that. :)Keltainentoukokuu (talk) 11:07, August 14, 2014 (UTC)

Thanks for notifying me. I fixed the colors and moved the duplicate template to the jpg version, as png has higher quality. I'll make sure to categorize my uploads in the future. Have a nice day :) --CrappyScrap (talk) 15:01, August 14, 2014 (UTC)
Here's a fast way to do it: write {{Screenshot|Final Fantasy IV GBA}} into the summary field when uploading. :) Games that have different versions often have screenshots divided by platform. All smartphone etc versions use "iOS" even for Android screenshots just because they're indistinguishable enough.Keltainentoukokuu (talk) 19:03, August 17, 2014 (UTC)
Thanks for the advice! I'll remember this for future uploads :) --CrappyScrap (talk) 20:59, August 17, 2014 (UTC)

Flag of Wutai[edit source]

What made you come to the conclusion that the symbol on Godo's Pagoda floor was the Wutai flag? Because we'll have to either rename the image or delete it if it turns out to be false. Tia-LewiseRydia - Young battle.png 10:12, August 24, 2014 (UTC)

I don't remember, but I was wrong. Feel free to delete it. --CrappyScrap (talk) 12:37, August 24, 2014 (UTC)

Latest Images[edit source]

You have named them as IV and PSP but they seem to be After Years and Wii version images instead?Keltainentoukokuu (talk) 18:02, December 9, 2014 (UTC)

...Damn. Didn't think of it. I'm officially an idiot. --CrappyScrap (talk) 18:32, December 9, 2014 (UTC)
I also didn't think of naming them 'TAY' instead of 'FFIV'. --CrappyScrap (talk) 18:41, December 9, 2014 (UTC)
Well it's not that big a deal to rename them. The FFIV image categories are already a mess with no one really wanting to sort them. There is a WiiWare screenshots category for TAY here for future reference. :)Keltainentoukokuu (talk)
I was looking for that. An new article is up in a matter of minutes, and this time I've hopefully got it right. Cheers! --CrappyScrap (talk) 18:58, December 9, 2014 (UTC)

Please license and categorise your images[edit source]

Specifically the Balamb and FH flags. It's common courtesy to do this with your own uploaded images, unless you need some help, in which case let me know and I'll show you how to do it. Tia-LewiseRydia - Young battle.png 13:48, April 12, 2015 (UTC)

Title capitalisation[edit source]

Hey there, as you may have known, we've been on a mass moving project to decapitalise page titles to sentence case rather than title case. Most of these have been done, but some job tags, some equipment pages, and events will be the main offenders for pages still using the wrong capitalisation. Since you know most about this area, I was wondering if you could point to any event names that are wrongly capitalised? Note: they are correctly capitalised if it's their official canon title, but not otherwise, so if the war is named "Shinra Inc. War" or something in game/in Ultimania, then it's fine, but if it's not, then it's just a Shinra Inc. war, so it'd be named "Shinra Inc. war".--Magicite-ffvi-ios.png Technobliterator TC 20:53, November 27, 2015 (UTC)

I disagree so strongly it is tempting to refuse to cooperate. Letting the Jenova War remain capitalized whilst changing "Saronia Civil War" to "Saronia civil war" is inconsistent, meaningless and looks bad. But I guess this is not the place to argue. You should find all I know about here. Best wishes, and good luck. --CrappyScrap (talk) 21:02, November 27, 2015 (UTC)
Well, it's not entirely certain that we're going to do it anymore. We're now thinking that even though they're fan-made names, there's no reason the fan-made names cannot be capitalised. So we might not be de-capitalising anything.--Magicite-ffvi-ios.png Technobliterator TC 17:25, November 30, 2015 (UTC)
Haha, did my crybaby post get to you? ^^ Thanks for letting me know. I keep my fingers crossed. --CrappyScrap (talk) 17:31, November 30, 2015 (UTC)
Mhm, Feasinde agreed with you as well, that and the fact that checking how Wikipedia capitalises it was...very confusing. Also, I kind of changed my mind as well, I think it makes more sense to capitalise them as well, for consistency like you mentioned - just because it was never named in canon, doesn't mean we can't? I'm not sure if we should capitalise these events when used in section headers, but I'm leaning towards "probably"? --Magicite-ffvi-ios.png Technobliterator TC 17:38, November 30, 2015 (UTC)
So I did get to someone :3 Just for curiosity's sake, where exactly is this discussion being held? I tried to look through your contributions, but then I realized that would take all night... --CrappyScrap (talk) 17:44, November 30, 2015 (UTC)
All on IRC.--Magicite-ffvi-ios.png Technobliterator TC 17:48, November 30, 2015 (UTC)

Article moving[edit source]

When moving articles please make sure you won't create redirects 'cause otherwise you might end up creating multiredirects like you did a few hours ago.—Kaimi (999,999 CP/5 TP) ∙ 22:55, November 30, 2015 (UTC)

My apologies, I guess I got a bit carried away. --CrappyScrap (talk) 11:36, December 1, 2015 (UTC)

Second Battle of the Iifa Tree question[edit source]

If there are no dragons to be encountered after returning from Memoria, shouldn't their casualties include the Nova Dragon or does the word 'absolute' address that?DokutaFutomimi (talk) 00:23, October 9, 2016 (UTC)

Hi! Yeah, that was my idea. In addition I added a † behind the link in the "Commanders" row (although there's no policy for it here, it's quite common on Wikipedia). I just think it looks better than a list of deaths in the "Casualties" row. Good job finding a new method against Garuda, by the way, I used it :) --CrappyScrap 03:05, October 9, 2016
Ah, you mean using Mustard Bomb and afflicting Garuda with Heat so that it dies upon getting to act? I'll admit, I discovered it when playing FFIX almost one year ago.DokutaFutomimi (talk) 00:39, October 10, 2016 (UTC)
That's right! I completed the game for the first time just a few days ago, yet it still got me way more sentimental than games that have nostalgic value to me (I, VI, VII). Best game in the series, no doubt. Are you considering to become active here, by the way? It's a really nice community here :) --CrappyScrap 11:42, October 10, 2016 (UTC)
I'm not sure. It mostly depends on if/when I discover something in the game that wasn't mentioned before. Also, I noticed that the details of the Thunder Slash glitch are different from what I've seen before. Does it still do anything about how Iai Strike's accuracy is higher than normal or was that an error?DokutaFutomimi (talk) 12:30, October 10, 2016 (UTC)
I'm really not the right person to ask (I played for the story, and gave up on completionism once I got too tired of the card game, haha), so I really don't know. But I do recall the Thunder Slash never hitting, except against a single boss. I'm one of those who don't really care about many gameplay aspects, provided the story, the visuals and the music are good. Which was certainly the case with FFIX. --CrappyScrap 13:20, October 10, 2016 (UTC)

War of 1771[edit source]

There's not much info on the "30 years ago" war, but I think you could make it, though not sure about the name. "Airship Revolution" sounds fine. But we are phasing out trivia sections, so please don't at least make a trivia section for it! If info is notable it can go into a relevant section in the article. I don't know any more of than what you've written here. Few characters depicted were old enough to take part, but it could be mentioned that this war directly led to Garland making Kuja to get some new wars started.Keltainentoukokuu (talk) 08:16, April 9, 2020 (UTC)

Funnily enough, I suppose the article would be more about the aftermath than the actual event. I'll see if I end up making one; first I want to get a little bit further into my second playthrough of FFIX. (Lockdowns, right?!) I might either skip a military infobox, or I might include one without placing Lindblum on either side, as the nature of its involvement is so unclear. --CrappyScrap (talk) 17:49, April 9, 2020 (UTC)

Good article! Quite a lot of info for it in the end.Keltainentoukokuu (talk) 19:54, April 20, 2020 (UTC)

Conde Petie[edit source]

Huh, never really looked at that before. I think they reused the same asset, just in different lighting? It's a banner of some sort at least! Could point it out in the Conde Petie article.Keltainentoukokuu (talk) 18:18, May 7, 2020 (UTC)
