EnBarNul Edit

Hiya. This cropped up when I was working on updating spell pages - things I used to do and left behind. Barfire, Barthunder and Barwater gave me little to no resistance, but when it comes to Barfrost, I hit a snag. Barfrost isn't repeated anywhere. NulFrost is. It would have helped if the Japanese name was the same but it was Barblizzard (バブリザ Baburiza) instead.

So should all of them be reverted back to their Nul- prefixes? "Recurring trumpts recency", Yuan says. BLUER一番 08:41, May 27, 2010 (UTC)

I don't think all of them should be reverted back to "Nul-". XIII's term for the spell is "Barblizzard", identical to the Japanese term. In addition, we have the Fire and Thunder articles where "Nul" and "Bar" tie for two games each, but "Bar" is more recent. The lesser known element support the retaining of "Bar". Water has "Bar" appear in XI and XIII, with "Nul" only in X, while -aero and -stone appear only as "Bar" in XI.
NulFrost is thus the only exception, so we should not change everything else for it. The name should depend on whether we want to have consistency within our general ability naming rules or consistency just within the "Nul/Bar" series. You and Yuan are correct in that the ice page should be named "Nulfrost" because it is the most recurring name. This follows the whole consistency rule.
If we were to name it "Barfrost", all the articles would be prefixed with "Bar", but of course, it wouldn't follow "recurring trumps recency". I think we should leave that page as Nulfrost, as it is now, and leave all the other elemental spells as "Bar"-whatever. I also need to make status effect pages for a lot of these ._. 8bit 16:38, May 27, 2010 (UTC)
Do we merge Barfrost to NulFrost then? BLUER一番 07:12, June 2, 2010 (UTC)
Yes, we should. I can do that right now. 8bit 01:41, June 3, 2010 (UTC)
I checked up and saw that "recurring trump..." statement got thrown out the window. Can't say I'm not surprised. But if it gets the job done *shrugs*
Could I bother you to restore the History and fix the Moves for the Talk:Barfrost? Jeppo intended to move the discussion from Talk:BarFrost to "Talk:Barfrost" after making a mistake at Talk:NulFrost and ended up copying the discussions instead. I like my name in the History where it belongs, and I'm sure you would too. BLUER一番 21:30, June 7, 2010 (UTC)
I really didn't want to cause all this aggravation of contacting an admin just to keep the page history that nobody looks at. That's why I did what I did. Jeppo (Talk | contribs) 21:40, June 7, 2010 (UTC)
Um. Why was NulFrost moved back to Barfrost in the first place. On Talk:Barfrost (Ability) the rationale was explained, but a separate discussion took place on Talk:Barfrost, and then the move to Barfrost occurred when "But the pages they link to are both called Barfrost. Shouldn't they be moved to NulFrost if that's what the disambig's named?" was asked. I posted on Talk: Barfrost about this, and hopefully we can agree it should stay at NulFrost and then I can fix up the move history.
Also, talk page history should always be preserved when possible, except when a page is split. 8bit 01:31, June 8, 2010 (UTC)

FFXIII Enemy Images Edit

Ah, thanks for reminding me, I had a feeling I was forgetting something... ^^" I will add the category to all the files I uploaded so far, and keep adding it to all the new files I upload =) MirrorshardSceada 20:13, May 27, 2010 (UTC)

Alright, thanks! Are you screenshotting these images by yourself? I remember doing some of those... you can tell from some of the lower quality boss images XD 8bit 20:28, May 27, 2010 (UTC)
I gotta admit, that I am not. I intended to do so, but as of now, I'm lacking the time/equipment to do it myself, so I'm using pictures a friend made quite a while ago. Sadly, he hasn't got a screenshot for every enemy, and has already sold his copy of the game >.< But I'm working on it, and, well... I'm happy to be of some use around here :D MirrorshardSceada 21:12, May 27, 2010 (UTC)
Well, as long as you got them over here, that's awesome. 8bit 15:36, May 28, 2010 (UTC)

Done. Edit

All right, fixed said images. I apologize since this was my first time actually using this. I will remember in the future to License images with "SE" and Categorizing them as well. - Falsate

Thanks much! I actually did change the category to "Category: Final Fantasy XIII Status Images]]", but I can go over and redo those. Hope to see more images from you. 8bit 15:36, May 28, 2010 (UTC)

No problem! Will anyone add 'Enthunder'?

Ah, sorry, a lot of ability articles are missing >< I just finished the ability page, and I'll do the status page next. 8bit 02:16, May 30, 2010 (UTC)

Hey 8Bit. I can help with the abilities page if you want. I need to do more around here. If you want my help, just let me know what you want done on my talk page. Now that I've beaten FFXIII 100%, I feel ready to contribute.  TheBlueDragoon Dissicon ff10 Yun102:34, May 30, 2010 (UTC)

Getting to Work Edit

Ok, so I'm working on the FFXIII enemy abilities. I wish I still had the game itself. I let a friend borrow it. I'm trying to use video walkthroughs for some abilities, but I'm remembering certain abilities that kept giving me trouble. If you can think of any other tasks that need doing, let me know. TheBlueDragoon 03:57, May 30, 2010 (UTC)

Important edit: I'm now working on the FFXIII abilities page. I noticed a lot of stuff wrong with the abilities, so I fixed all that. I have the official strategy guide, so I'm taking all my info straight from the book. My question as I did this was this: I noticed the word "Break" instead of Stagger. I changed them to Stagger, but what is the proper way? I figured Stagger since this is an English Wiki, but I figured I'd ask an admin, and you're the only person I thought of. Fae is busy half the time and TA is never here, so it was between you and Yuan. Thanks. Please respond on my talk page.  TheBlueDragoon Dissicon ff10 Yun105:05, May 30, 2010 (UTC)

Its cool 8bit. I know how its getting to be. Finals are approaching, so my time on the Wiki is limited these days. Anyway, I started on the character abilities page, and I'm now tying up some loose ends on a couple other pages. Hopefully the pages will be ok in a couple days.  TheBlueDragoon Dissicon ff10 Yun103:39, June 1, 2010 (UTC)

Alright, thanks much! And good luck on finals :) 8bit 03:42, June 1, 2010 (UTC)

Moves, titles and that thing called names... Edit

I moved several character pages BEFORE reading your Clockwork subpage. Truth be told, I didn't know it existed. If you think it's prudent that "Hilda (Final Fantasy II)" be reverted back to Princess Hilda, "Leo (Crystal Chronicles)" and "Chime (Crystal Chronicles)" as well, then by all means, please do, and please accept my humblest apologies. Also I kicked Anastasis from his title when I found the video of his meeting with Ashelia, and Queen Hilda gets to be in her full name regalia. BLUER一番 02:25, June 3, 2010 (UTC)

Ah, yes, I thought that if we needed to separate characters with the same name, we could use their titles instead of tags. because "Princess Hilda" seems much more descriptive than "Hilda (Final Fantasy II)". I think I will revert them back - but Anastasis is fine. Although "Gran Kiltias Anastasis" sounds awesome, but I can't be preferential there :P Thanks for letting me know! 8bit 03:19, June 3, 2010 (UTC)
Yes, and so descriptive is High Confessor Marcel Funebris as well as Judge Gabranth as well.
...You're welcome. BLUER一番 03:24, June 3, 2010 (UTC)
Well, right, but Gabranth doesn't need to be any more descriptive than it is in terms of making sure it's differentiated from other Gabranths, because there are no others. What if I said that "Judge Magister Gabranth" is more descriptive than just Judge Gabranth? That every character who is revealed to be royalty be named with a title? Like Princesses Lenna and Sarisa? We had edit wars with titles of several characters, which necessitated this policy.
So, you can see how the removal of titles in necessary in some cases. On another tack, with Queen Hilda from IX, it's actually better what you did, to rename the page as "Hildegard Fabool". My aim was just to eliminate the tag if there was another way of differentiation; I like how you found and used her full name instead of Hilda (Final Fantasy IX). 8bit 03:32, June 3, 2010 (UTC)
"Hildagarde Fabool" was staring in our faces since 2008, but we focus on writing skills in fanfic central instead. Go figure. BLUER一番 03:43, June 3, 2010 (UTC)
Well then, I'm glad you caught it. If you'll excuse I just finished submitting me entry for TC and I'm off for the night XD In seriousness, if you do find anything else on the clockwork that needs attention, please bring it up. I think I made a forum about the issue back when I began to organize this stuff, but it's since been buried in the archives. 8bit 03:51, June 3, 2010 (UTC)

Hole Goofs Discrepencies Edit

Why did you delete the Holes, Goofs and Discrepencies page? I loved going through all my games again trying to pick them out and now the list is gone? Why was it deleted? WHY??!!!!!!!??????!!!!!!

I did not delete the page. It was moved by another user to forumspace and is now at Forum:List of Final Fantasy Plot Holes, Goofs and Other Discrepancies. I deleted the multitude of redirects to that page because we generally do not keep redirects around to lead to forumspace. Actually, could just be an "Always assume good faith" thing, since that's what it is. Agweed to that idea, but I'd like there to be changes considered before an admin makes a decision. 88.108.140.233 22:37, June 20, 2010 (UTC)

91.145.89.72‎ Edit

A number of removal edits have been made by this anon on BluHighwind's IX Walkthrough, and Drake and I have both warned them repeatedly. It's not quite reached ban point yet, but you might want to prime the Banhammer in readiness. I strongly suspect that my placement of the {{{Test3}}} template on their talk page is not going to be the slightest deterrent to this sort of persistence -- SN Cocoon Sig 12:45, June 29, 2010 (UTC)

Let me interject here and say that the jokes are in really bad taste. I'm still reverting them, since it's against the rules, but this really should be brought up to Blue to change them. ScatheMote 12:49, June 29, 2010 (UTC)
To be fair, I don't think all of BlueH's jokes should be taken at face value. Also, they aren't necessarily offensive. One particular example is the one saying that one can call Zidane "gay" or "fag". It's technically not homophobic, because it's presented as an off-hand remark, not a recommendation. Not that I'm outright defending all of his jokes, mind you. I'm just trying to make sure that both sides of the argument are spoken for. I definitely agree that it may be best to remove them, but the fact remains that, by FFWiki policy, it should only be done by BlueH himself -- SN Cocoon Sig 12:59, June 29, 2010 (UTC)
EDIT: I don't actually think it is, but I wouldn't be that surprised if this IP was BlueHighwind, yanking our chains :P -- SN

Tiny request sir adminEdit

Tiny request sir admin. The grey we use for borders on some of our tables (our enemy tables) is #AAAAAA (or #AAA), but the border used on tabs is #CCC (or #CCCCCC). Can you go into MediaWiki:Common.css, press Ctrl+F, insert "border:1px solid #CCC;" into find, and replace it on the page with "border:1px solid #AAAAAA;" (I prefer to use six characters even if you don't have to). Could someone give me BlueHighWind's email? =/, I don't know anything about why he's saying he's been a fool or really anything about anything about him, but I just know his walkthroughs are great, halarious, feisty, interesting, and once again, great, I tried another walkthrough and it wasn't the same... walkthroughs used to be a (mk so where do i find this)? But with BlueHighWind walkthrough was like, lol lets see what joke he's got on this, I even READ IT, just for pleasure, it was so awesome... Sigh... =(... such a great walkthrough writer... I'll miss you BlueHighWind, a space monkey, Coolcrazyman(PERIOD!)

He does have a blog (here), and you can probably contact him from there. I want the walkthrough restored too, but it was BlueHighwind's choice to have it deleted, and I wouldn't get your hopes up on changing his mind -- Sorceror Nobody Flan 10:49, July 9, 2010 (UTC)

he already requested that the walkthrough be restored so why hasn't it yet?

He hasn't. 88.108.127.117 17:17, July 10, 2010 (UTC)
He asked to have to deleted Fumetsu, not restored, which is why it was deleted. If he did, in fact, ask for it to be restored, then please link to where he said so. A.J. two (Smashboards) 17:23, July 10, 2010 (UTC)
EDIT: This is what he wrote on his blog (linked to above) regarding the walkthrough:
"Recently I had a whole walkthrough deleted due to homophobic statements I made that have no right to exist for any reason. Two years ago, I rewrote a different walkthrough for the same reason, but I never made it to the other one, which was starting to get complaints from a concerned anonymous gentleman or lady. I never really ever wanted to offend or hurt anybody, and still don't so the walkthrough is gone. Forever." A.J. two (Smashboards) 17:28, July 10, 2010 (UTC)

Yeah, that would suck. But, you can be even more pissed at him, since you can't go on his talk page and tell him youre pissed; he had it locked so that only admins could edit it, since there were too many people leaving him messages after he said he was leaving. The easiest way is to follow SN's suggestion above; just don't yell at him, because I'm sure he won't appriciate it. A.J. two (Smashboards) 18:07, July 10, 2010 (UTC)
