Mastering Cait Sith's Slots Tutorial.

Introduction[edit | edit source]

Hello and welcome to my tutorial on how to master Cait Sith's Slots.

So, what would you say if I told you you could get a full recovery when you've ran out of Megalixirs, or use a summon without using any MP or
even kill any enemy in the game. Instantly?

Now you're probably thinking, "HURRY THE *beep* UP AND TELL ME HOW TO PWNZ0R!!"
Okay, I'll stop and teach you everything about Cait Sith's Slots Limit Break.

How To Obtain It and How It Works[edit | edit source]

First of all, to unlock the Cait Sith's final Limit Break he has to have killed a mere 40 enemies, which is very good considering a lot of Limit Breaks
with other characters can take up to about nearly 200.

Okay, so now that you have the Limit Break and set the Limit Level, you will probably want to know what you can do.
Okay first of all it is exactly what it says it is... A Slots reel.
You stop each of the reels with the action button to try and get three matching symbols.

Sounds simple, right?

Wrong.

There is a so called Evil Flag and if it is on it will be very difficult to get three matching symbols.
It will force the second and third reels to stop when you press the action button.

But you can get around this with a trick.
What you have to do is press the square button. When held down it stops the reels and when pressed rapidly is slows them down, making it easier to
see each symbol.

The Evil Flag[edit | edit source]

First of all, before I get into explaining the square button trick I'm going to explain the Evil Flag...
When the Evil Flag is off, it will help you to match the second two reels by moving them forward towards the matching symbol on the first reel by up to
five symbols. But, when the Evil Flag is on the second and third reels will stop exactly when you press the action button meaning that it is very difficult
to get the symbols you want. Also, if you happen to get the first two reels to match, the third reel will jump one place after you press the action symbol,
making it even harder.

Whether the Evil Flag is on or not is determined by the time on the game clock and whether it is divisible by a certain number which changes from symbol to symbol.

Crown and Star: The Evil Flag is ALWAYS off.

BAR and Moogle: The Evil Flag is off if the time is divisible by 2 (50% Chance).

Heart: The Evil Flag is off if the time is divisible by 4 (25% Chance).

Cait Sith: The Evil Flag is off if the time is divisible by 64.

Learning The Reels[edit | edit source]

Each reel has a pattern of 16 symbols that is repeated continually.

You'll need to know this so that you can know how to get the desired symbol if the Evil Flag is on.

You will usually have to look for two symbols in a specific order.

Toy Box[edit | edit source]

If you happen to fail at getting anything, Cait Sith will use Toy Box, that's with any other combo.

It does a random single target attack from 2x to 5x Base Damage.

2x Base: A boulder falls and splits open on top of the enemy
2 1/2x Base: Icicles fall and spear through the enemy
3x Base: A giant lead weight crushes the enemy
3 1/2x Base: A massive hammer smashes into the enemy
4x Base: A Fat Chocobo flattens the enemy
4 1/2x Base: A Hell House falls onto the enemy from above
5x Base: Six comets slam into the battlefield

Credits to TFergusson from GameFAQs for that list of attacks.

One More Trick[edit | edit source]

There is another trick which I learned along my travels. With the last Reel when getting Lucky Girl or Game Over you can get anything you want by
pressing the action button twice on the symbol you want. This works because although the reel moves onto the next symbol, you have confirmed
the action on the symbol you want which makes the game believe that the symbol you want is the symbol that was supposed to be chosen.

So now to get Lucky Girl

Reel 1: Look for Moogle after Crown
Reel 2: Look for a BAR after Crown
Reel 3: Look for the next Crown after C
ait.

And Game Over

Reel 1: Look for Moogle after BAR
OR BAR after Heart
Reel 2: Look for Crown after BAR
Reel 3: Look for Moogle after Crown after BAR.

Thus concludes my Mastering Cait Sith's Slots Tutorial.

Have Fun!
